You know what I love about Paige? How young and dumb she is. I mean that with all the love in my heart but she is so young and dumb sometimes. She has been through hell and back and is doing her best to lead a full on rebellion despite being so, so young. Every time she messes up she gets right back up and keeps going. She puts her faith and trust into the wrong people and is punished for it. The fate of all Voyants living under Scion rests on her, or that’s how she feels and because she’s young and dumb she has a hard time accepting help from others. She believes that it is her duty to always put herself on the front lines and do the most dangerous things in the place of others because it wouldn’t be fair of her to ask anyone else to do it when she is perfectly capable. That’s just a symptom of her young and dumb syndrome. And she’s always been this way but now she’s in charge of a whole country of Voyants. And now she has Arcturus to help her.

Meanwhile, Arcturus is her opposite, he’s old and wise. He parallels her and complements her in so many ways. Where Paige is rash and quick to be stupid, Arcturus is careful and thoughtful and tells her when to slow down. But he doesn’t want to control her or force her so he gives her the space to be an idiot and is there to catch her when she falls. And through her mistakes Paige is teaching him the meaning of humanity. They work to bring out the best in each other.

paige burns hot and bright, she is the spark of revolution and the star at the center of the cosmos she has made for herself. she is a leader and the most important chess piece and the most powerful magic person. also she has shortish blone curls so that looks kind of like a sun halo thing.

arcturus is named after a star, but he does not burn. his light is calm and certain and infinite. he is easily overshadowed by the bright hot stars around him, but he is all the more powerful for it. he is mysterious and even though he himself remains unchanged, the way other people see him changes often. his intentions are never certain, but one can rely on his power and steadiness. Hes literally a creature of the night.

The few humans who know about Paige and Arcturus: Okay, he's hot, but he doesn't age, talks like it's Victorian England, and he hasn't made a single facial expression in 6 hours.

I need some book recommendations with slow burn romances like Paige and Arcturus!! I’m demisexual like Paige and I adore watching them get to know one another so well before/while falling for each other. Any genre will do. Can’t wait for book 5!

These are all fairly slow-burn, in comparison to other books I've read:

• A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft • The Circle by Sara B. Elfgren and Mats Strandberg (romance unfolds across three books) • The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi • Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran (one of the protagonists is demisexual)
