I tried a little harder today than I did yesterday! And, can I say it? I am happy with the result! Today it is entirely pencil, black crayon and watercolors for shadows and trim. In fact, I didn't color the background because I almost punctured the paper...

But I am really, really pleased! Of course, I don't call myself an artist like so many of my mutuals who are with a capital A, but I like to draw and I'm glad I started again.

I was inspired by this beautiful edit made by @datshitrandom ♡

12. Do you want to break your readers‘ heart or make them laugh?

I mean both, ideally! I don't intentionally write angst-heavy fics, but I do think it's supremely satisfying to know that an emotional moment made a reader tear up.

18. What is your favorite writing prompt?

The prompt that I based Miles To Go off of was so perfect (thanks @redheadgleek!). It's not an idea that I ever could have come up with independently, but it combined so many concepts and themes that I was interested in, and gave me the perfect jumping off point to write a fic I love. Also, I only followed a few of the writing prompts for Glee Advent last year, but I was really happy with the things I wrote for them!

34. How did you find the magical world of fanfics?

That's a good question. I got into Glee fic by just...being on tumblr and a fan of the show while it was airing (and I don't think I read anything before Blaine showed up and Klaine fics began being written). I think my very first exposure to fanfiction was Jonas Brothers stories on Quizilla, lol, which one of my cousins must have introduced me to.

44. Does fanart of your fanfic exist?

Yes! By participating in the @the-lima-bean Prompt Bang, I was paired with talented artists who made beautiful artwork for Miles To Go and Courting Royalty (and then datshitrandom independently made some incredible art for Courting Royalty, too!).

The road trip is long and lonely and challenging, but Kurt’s luck starts to turn around when he meets a handsome man named Blaine, who’s heading to California for his own reasons. After crossing paths in Colorado, they decide to travel together. As they get closer to the west coast they start to let down their walls, learning more about each other and revealing what they’re really seeking on this trip.

Author’s Notes: The prompt for this story immediately jumped out to me, because it deals with two things that have been on my mind a lot lately: grief, and cross-country road trips. I’m so grateful for this particular prompt, as it’s given me so much inspiration, and I hope that what I’ve written does it justice.

And, of course, so many thanks to @datshitrandom, who made the gorgeous art for this story. With relatively limited information she was able to create something that exactly captured the look and feel of this story, and then went way above and beyond to create Instagram edits chronicling the entire road trip! I am obsessed with them.
