Whew, seeing a therapist is looking pretty desirable now!

As my signature there reveals, I actually drew this sketch back in 2019. I've had it pretty much all cleaned up for a few years now, and it was one of the very last mostly-finished sketches from the before times that I had not posted yet... It was originally prompted by my and @alfafilly's comic and misc. imaginings of a Viktoria / Arpeggio cross-over, and since we haven't touched that particular subject in a while, I guess I was waiting for a "suitable time" to post this sketch.

To be more serious for a moment, 2023 has turned out to be a rather difficult year for me: being a father to an extremely busy little baby who has trouble sleeping, going 14 months now without a solid night's sleep myself, dealing with ongoing family issues, and recently a very serious health matter with my own father. It has been a challenge, to say the least.

As I'm sure many other artists feel, drawing, writing, and bringing my characters to life is more than just a hobby to me... While sketching sexy anthro Ospreys and the like doesn't sound especially profound as a form of personal expression and emotional catharsis, it is none-the-less something I deeply enjoy and an activity which nourishes my soul. It is also something I've had precious little time to do now having made the commitment to be a dad.

I am not unhappy with my choices though; I look with eager anticipation to what lies ahead as a parent, and also to what I want to do with my art as time allows... I just wish I could focus on fewer life-changing matters simultaneously, or at least get a bit more sleep.

TL;DR, Life is not static and I'm really tired.

I think I had some kind of idea when I started this pose, but it didn't go quite as intended (as is often the case when I'm sketching with a ballpoint pen). I just rolled with it though, and this was the result...

Not sure if this is specifically an 80s AU Rhys or just regular Rhys in civilian clothing, perhaps sneaking out pre/during academy to do some evening socializing?

Despite the difficulties this year has presented, the fall weather put me in the mood to get back into making some pen sketches in the ol' notebook…

The changing of the seasons certainly provides Viktoria ample opportunity to change her style with a little shopping expedition, and when you're a connoisseur of fine fall fashion it doesn't hurt to take a little work on the side to finance your expenses!
