PREFACE:
A popular and widely used scent in the Middle East hub of Dubai, Bakhoor has been used for centuries and is the most common and widely used scent in the entire World. Bakhoor is a semi-solid product that when placed on burning charcoal, like in a charcoal burner or on a heating plate of an electric burner, releases a fragrant smoke that leaves the surrounding area and all its objects smelling delicate. Bakhoor does not have limited uses to only refresh and aromatize the air but acts as an all-in-one for aromatizing almost everything that envelopes it. Multiple uses of bakhoor is not the only reason for its popularity but some other factors also contribute to making Bakhoor an integral part of the life of the Arab people.
WHY IS BAKHOOR SO POPULAR AMONG ARABS?
Bakhoor term refers to an Arabic origin that means fumes in the Arabic language. This scent has not gained popularity in recent years but has been in use for centuries people are making new flavors and scents by changing the ingredient but it carries deep roots in the Arab culture and many families have preserved the Bakhoor-making methods and recipes for generations.
Bakhoor is mentioned in many hadith where it was made evident that using bakhoor is Sunnah and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used and encouraged the use of bakhoor. It is narrated that he said that Masjid should be scented with bakhoor and perfumed especially on the day of Jummah(Ibn-Majah). USE OF BAKHOOR ON HAIR:
Hairs are vital parts of a person's personality and especially in women they are generally long and their location near the nose makes them much more important because the nose can smell. Hairs have another characteristic of catching smell just like if a person sits near a smoke the hair entraps the smoke particle and begins to smell like it. Bakhoor also emits a type of smoke that is highly beneficial for the hairs as the hairs entrap smoke particle and begins to smell like this. This can also be taken into account that because of the sweat on hair, they begin to give a foul smell which surrounded the person's nose and is not appreciated. For getting rid of that bakhoor smoke can be used as it acts as the perfume for hairs substituting the hair care products that makes them smell good.
How to use Bakhoor on hair?:
For making your hairs smell like Bakhoor first, burn the bakhoor on a burner and carefully notice the smoke as some Bakhoors have very little to no smoke but the fumes can be observed. Carefully tilt your head and place your head in the direction of the smoke and with the help of hand waving, direct the smoke more towards your hair. This is because the factor of temperature, as in Modern and Past Middle East there have always been high temperatures. The high temperature and fast and dry wind are present throughout the Gulf even in Dubai. This affects the perfume in such a way that under such dry, warm, and windy conditions, the perfume doesn't last long and is converted to the vapor phase immediately. Hence Bakhoor has a smoky nature and the particle of smoke last much longer in clothes than the most perfumes.
