When Kieran joins Masters EX, his partner should be Hydrapple. But when / if he gets a Sygna Suit, his partner then should be Pecharunt, because color scheme aside, the two are so much alike that it has to be on purpose.
Unfortunately, a lot of the similarities are relegated to Pecharunt’s backstory video on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, which is really disappointing and yet another way that the severe time crunch these games / DLC are released under hurts the finished product. Nonetheless, here’s a brief summary of the video in case you missed it:
Pecharunt was found by an elderly couple in a distant land who, having no children of their own, decided to adopt him. They loved him, but Pecharunt, feeling that he wanted even more of their love, decided to feed them some of his special mochi that he created from the poison inside his shell. This poison drew out the old couple’s greed, and they began to send him on errands to collect things for them. To make these quests easier, Pecharunt recruited Okidogi as a retainer to bring things back to the old couple’s home. Eventually, the old couple requested that Pecharunt bring them some special masks from the land of Kitakami, and Pecharunt, having grown bored of the routine tasks he’d been given, agreed. Pecharunt used his special mochi to bring Fezandipiti and Munkidori on as retainers as well, and together the four traveled to Kitakami in order to steal the masks. This led to Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti killing Ogerpon’s trainer during the theft, and Ogerpon killing the Loyal Three as revenge. She nearly killed Pecharunt as well, but instead Pecharunt managed to roll into the woods and fall into a deep coma, eventually coming to rest as a “plushie” at Peachy’s for an untold number of years after (i.e. until the Mochi Madness epilogue took place).
So to recap: Pecharunt was loved by the old couple that took him in, but he wanted more than what he was given and used his mochi to try to get that. Things ended up spiraling out of control, and he almost died because of it.
Sound familiar?
When we first meet Kieran in the Teal Mask, we’re given the impression that he’s a friendless boy who is bereft of any real battling skill, friends, or opportunities. In fact, I think Kieran himself tells us that he doesn’t have any friends (or at least leads us to believe as such when he gets so excited at the fact that MC wants to be friends with him). But Carmine is quick to tell us that Kieran is actually really strong in terms of battling ability (and also that he hates to lose, which is foreshadowing his later fall from grace), and while their entire family is ostracized in the village (it’s very obvious that Carmine isn’t well-liked either), two things become very obvious once we arrive at Blueberry Academy in the Indigo Disk:
1.) The only bully at Blueberry Academy is Kieran himself
2.) No one at Blueberry Academy had issues with Kieran before his field trip to Kitakami
After the Mochi Madness epilogue, when speaking to Kieran in the League Club room, he mentions that it used to bother him that he had a Kitakami accent when no one else did at Blueberry Academy. (Specifically that he “talks different because he’s from Kitakami”). Note that he isn’t saying that others made fun of him for having an accent; this is a problem that Kieran himself had, which fits in to how Kieran tends to project his own insecurities onto others and blow them up into issues of his own creation. The other League Club members, sans perhaps Drayton, don’t seem to have had any issue with Kieran prior to his becoming Champion and becoming a bully, and Lacey, Amarys, and Crispin all seem more than willing to welcome him back once he is defeated and willing to try again. Even Drayton, while teasing him about being an “ex-champ,” does so while asking what Kieran is eating for dinner nowadays — a roundabout way of checking up on him, to see not really what, but if he’s eating, since we know he wasn’t before.
In other words: It’s highly likely that Kieran wasn’t friendless at Blueberry Academy before. And we know, too, that his family loves him (yes, his entire family—take it from someone who did have an abusive older sister, Carmine never once abuses him, she teases him just as any normal older sister would and it’s clear how much they mutually love each other). Furthermore, while he throws his little hissy fits over losing battles to the MC, we know exactly why that is, because Carmine tells us why that is at the beginning of the Teal Mask: it’s because Kieran hates to lose. Kieran is seriously strong, she says. He’s very good at battling. This is why he was in the League Club to begin with, which I’m pretty sure he was even before they went on the Kitakami field trip, even though he wasn’t the Champion then. Kieran was already strong, but the strength he had just wasn’t good enough because he was losing to MC. Being friends with MC wasn’t good enough once he had to share their friendship with Carmine. His pokémon weren’t good enough when they weren’t Ogerpon / when they lost to MC, and so on and so forth. Like Pecharunt, Kieran wanted more.
And what did he do to get it? Anything he could, regardless of the feelings of others.
See, here is the thing about Pecharunt’s powers: Pecharunt’s mochi is a mind-altering substance. Pecharunt’s poison (game mechanics aside) doesn’t kill, but rather, it alters the mind in order to “draw out the desires and innate abilities” of those it affects. It draws out the greed of the victims, but it also binds them to Pecharunt’s will. In all the cases we have so far, Pecharunt’s will is to have them love him. He wanted the old couple to love him. He wanted Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti to help him retrieve things so the old couple would love him more, but also, presumably, to be his friends. (Which is why he reacts so furiously if you send any of the three against him — he sees this as a betrayal on their part.) It’s unclear if Pecharunt is consciously stripping people and other pokémon of their will, or if he just thinks that his mochi is so damn delicious that they really love him more, but I have to think it’s a little column A, little column B. At the very least, he knew that he was getting the items requested of him and he ordered the Loyal Three to steal the masks. He had enough intelligence to plan the heist. So in that sense, he’s not completely clueless about what’s going on. It’s just whether he knew that he had subjugated the Loyal Three utterly or not that’s in question.
Regardless — back to Kieran.
Kieran, obviously, doesn’t have any mind controlling mochi. But much like Pecharunt feeds people and pokémon mochi to make them do what he wants / needs them do regardless of what they might think or feel about it, Kieran also makes it clear that (prior to his Heel Face Turn at the end of Indigo Disk), the feelings of others don’t matter very much when it comes to what he wants either. When Ogerpon makes it known that she wants to keep traveling with the MC (whom she has spent the entire Teal Mask portion of the DLC bonding with), Kieran decides that he wants to battle for the right to keep her, and dismisses Carmine pointing out that he should consider Ogerpon’s feelings. In the Indigo Disk, when he sees that Terapagos imprints on the MC, he throws a Master Ball and captures it, stripping it of any choice whatsoever, not unlike Pecharunt throwing mind-controlling mochi in people’s mouths during the epilogue.
Both Pecharunt and Kieran also take perceived slights extremely personally. With Kieran, there is a lot of evidence toward this, from Kieran deciding on his own that Carmine and the MC must have been making fun of him behind his back at the Festival of Masks to him lashing out at Carmine for befriending the MC while trying to yank Terapagos free in the Indigo Disk. With Pecharunt there is precious little evidence, but as I mentioned earlier, if you send one of the Loyal Three to battle Pecharunt in Mochi Madness, Pecharunt has an angry, betrayed reaction — even though none of the Loyal Three have any choice in the matter and cannot have betrayed Pecharunt willingly. (Much like how Carmine never intended to hurt Kieran’s feelings by befriending the MC, and likewise, MC didn’t do anything wrong by befriending Carmine either.)
All of this is to say, Kieran and Pecharunt have a lot in common. Both have shades of entitlement, selfishness, and greed. The primary difference is, by the end of the Indigo Disk, Kieran has started to try to move past his, while Pecharunt’s is “solved” by being captured. So why should they be paired up in Masters EX?
Well, that’s simple:
Tumblr media
While we all know my feelings about how Kieran was written, setting that aside, Game Freak says that he’s all better now. However, Pecharunt isn’t. But if Kieran is all better now, then I think there is no one better to teach Pecharunt how to be better than someone who was in his shoes. Someone who can say, “Hey, I know how you’re feeling, and I understand the temptation, but maybe instead of poisoned mochi we can eat some candy apples instead.” Tie a neat little bow on all that character development. Finish off Kieran’s redemption while also showing that Pecharunt has had some growth, too. Plus, it keeps with the fruit theming for Kieran; first he gets an apple, now he gets a peach. Maybe his third pokémon partner could be a Cherrim.
Those are my thoughts, anyway. We’ll see what DeNA actually does with him.

Event by @the-wip-project
What ideas came to you recently from daydreaming?
A whole story totally made of hurt/comfort scenes but with emotional arcs
It isn't related to Stormkeeper's newest plot version, but it has the core trio plus an old-new character getting a focus (Jonah)
heavily inspired by the current Megalo Box 2. Though Joe has been a major inspo for years
Maybe I should treat it as it's own project. People jumpy from wip to wip here all the time, instead of re-imagining and re-plotting the whole other idea and destroying it in the process
Maybe I should start training to write these scenes in snippets and sew them into a whole later. Like not forcing them into a story and leave it a free flow
Something of a plot around a tournament. And the magic types worming their way in
Magic just hurts a lot. The ideas keep coming
No villians. Ahh if I could just pull of the characters being mean, hurtful, human, redeemable and no one really being bad, just real clumsy in doing the right thing for others and themselves. Did anyone notice how much every writing advice and plot structure centres around bad guys/villains? No wonder a plot without it looks like a revolution
Watched Wish dragon movie yesterday with my brother and gotta say, it's a great example of main character with a flat arc. No less interesting for it, because the MC knows money isn't everything (the story's central truth) but he struggles against the world and all the characters that pressure him against it. He stumbles, occasionally hesitates, doubts himself and the lowest point comes when he succumbs to the lie ridden world and gets a pep talk from the change arc character he was influencing the whole time.
The story plays with themes like pride, machismo, vulnerability and self-worth
Kyler and Wes being full on estranged brothers this time, with Kyler hiding from things he needs even when at a breaking point, Wes stuck in a rebellious ignorant wounded circle and Jonah being the spark to set them both on the right track again.
Playing with these trio's dynamics is really fun. Wes seeing Jonah will show him what growing up and being a partner instead or the younger pampered protected one means and he really needs that
Kyler just wants to take care of people. He might have developed that tendency while caring for Wes, but it's not limited to him anymore.
Jonah never had anybody care or believe in him. I'm still working out his arc, but his inner insecurity engraved quite deep.
Just want these three to save each other in various ways.
Acacia is probably the only sane person, there to say out loud what nobody wants to hear
This picrew is so true to my daydreamed images I can't stop looking at it
Tumblr media
Wes - Jonah - Kyler
I have been thinking of changing their names for the story, something like
Lukas/Julian/Kayden or
Andrew/Jacob/Kieran or even
Andrej/Jakub/Roman
But what's the point when their personalities and emotional arcs are so similar?
This would be so much easier if it was fanfiction. No wonder about AUs and playing with the same characters there. When an author uses the same original characters, it just looks like she has no imagination to make up new ones
On the other hand lots of authors just write the same story over and over with different characters and settings, it just isn't as obvious

can you do BMP headcannon where the princes being with their kids after the suprising reunion with MC and knowing they have a kids :) thank you
A/N- I am assuming its the non-yandere one ^_^  I hope you like it
______________
Edward- Rose looked like she was in heaven as the three of us entered Edward’s secret garden.  Edward had invited us to the castle for a little family fun.  Rose ran around the edge of the garden gazing at all the different roses.  Her violet eyes shined with wonder and I smiled at her contagious excitement.
Edward laughed, “our little rose bud is a very curious one.”  The two of us sat down at the table in a comfortable silence as we watched the young girl’s enthusiasm.  “MC?” Edward called and I turned toward him to see him gazing at me seriously, “how have you been doing, you look tired.”
I laughed, “I haven’t been getting much sleep with work and Rose–”
“Why don’t you move back into the castle?” Edward asked and my cheeks went red, “I am not asking for us to rekindle our romance, unless you want to my love.  I understand if you don’t want to since I made a huge mess of things.  The gods curse me every day for the wrong I have done.  I just wish to be closer to dear Rose.  I want to watch our little bud blossom into a beautiful rose.  The whole castle staff would love to have the little angel around.  They can also help so you can get more rest.  Nobody would want you to get sick”
I avoided Edward gaze as I thought about his offer.  It seems like an amazing author that I obvious once took; however, part of me does not want to risk history repeating itself.  Then again, it is true that he deserves to spend more time around his daughter, and Rose really does love it here.  Rose ran back with a huge smile on her face as she turned to Edward.
“All the flowers are so pretty, can we come back again?” Rose asked shyly.
Edward smiled at the young girl, “anytime you want Rosebud.  Afterward we can go over to the stables and you can see the horses.”  Rose’s face lit up at the idea.  If she wanted to move in here, I would.  All that matters is her happiness.
Wilfred- I rolled off the bed and stood up.  I could not fall asleep.  It was the first time I had been in the castle since I left, and now I was spending the night here.  Wilfred and Jason spent the day together, and by the time they returned to the castle it was too late to go home.  Jason wanted to stay overnight also to meet his aunt and uncle in the morning, and because Wilfred said he would give him some of his favourite old childhood books to read.
Jason was more excited about the books, like usual.
I should check on how Jason is doing…  This is a new place to him, and it might be overwhelming.  He always had trouble sleeping in new places.
I exited the room and headed toward Jason’s room to see the door cracked opened and a light emanating from inside.  I walked over and peeked inside to see Wilfred sitting the bed with Jason.  Wilfred was reading a book aloud to the young boy who had his head rested on his father’s chest.
I may not be one of Wilfred’s biggest fan; however, I could not help but smile at the sight of father and son.  It took a while for Jason to warm up to his father; it all changed when they discovered their similar interest in reading.
“Read me more dad, please?” Jason yawned as Wilfred went to close the book.  It was obvious at this point that Jason was beyond exhausted.  He was forcing his eyelids to stay open and his voice was no louder than a whisper.
Wilfred smiled at the boy, “it’s late, we can continue tomorrow.  I think your mom would be mad if she saw us.”  Jason looked up at his father with sad puppy dog eyes that usually made me do anything he asked for.  Wilfred laughed as he continued until Jason’s eyes shut and his breathing relaxed.
Wilfred untangled himself from the sleeping boy and turned to exit the room.  He stopped when he saw me standing there.  He put a finger to his lips as he walked toward me.  I backed out into the hallway as he quietly left the room and shut the door.
“The boy really loves his books,” Wilfred said with a small smile.
I laughed, “just like someone else I know.  He cannot fall asleep without hearing a story, especially in a new place”
“You can’t sleep either?” Wilfred asked and I nodded my head, “want me to read you a bedtime story too.”  I laughed as the rational part of me said no; however,…
“Sure.”
Glenn-  I walked along the familiar path following the sound of giggling.  The tall yellow flowers bloomed brightly as they split apart creating a path only big enough for one person to walk through at a time.
I walked through the exit of the path into a secret meadow where one man sat on the grass while a young girl ran around picking flowers.  A beautiful flower crown made from freshly picked sunflowers contrasted well against her brown hair.  Her expression seemed intense as she searched for the perfect flower to pick.  The man watched as she searched with a smile on his face before noticing the new visitor in the meadow.
“MC,” he said as he stood up and looked at his clock.  I told him I was going to meet them at noon, but I decided to come a little earlier.  The young girl turned at the sound and gasped as her expression became crestfallen.
“You’re early mommy, I didn’t get to finish your surprise!” Ginger cried, “daddy was teaching me how to make flower crowns and I was going to make you one.”
“What if I close my eyes and you continue to make me one?” I laughed.
Ginger’s eyes grew wide and she smiled, “yes, go over there with daddy and don’t peak!”  I obeyed the young girl’s orders and sat beside the prince.  The young girl continued to run around picking flowers that she began to pile up in the corner of the meadow.  “No looking!” she yelled.
I laughed as I turned toward Glenn, “how was she today?”
“Amazing like usual,” he said with a small smile, “she kept talking about your new boyfriend.”
I gave him a confused look, “new boyfriend?  Like I have time to date anyone with my hands filled with her.”
Glenn turned away red cheeked, “okay, maybe she didn’t mention that.
“Is that your way of asking if I was dating anyone?” I laughed.
“Maybe it is.”
“I’m not, my only focus is Ginger,” I muttered as I watched the girl began her craft project, “I don’t want a repeat of my last relationship.”  Glenn did not respond.  I peered next to me to see him staring at his hands in his lap with bright red cheeks.
Roberto-  I sighed as I watched the scenery quickly pass by through the car window.  Why am I not surprised that something like this had happened?  I turned toward Alberto to see him staring straight ahead as the gps gave us directions to our location.
“I though Prince Roberto would grow up a little once he became a father,” Alberto muttered as we hit a red light.
I laughed, “that would be too easy.”  Alberto smiled at me as the light turned and we continued to drive in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before stopping near an ice cream parlor.  Through the glass windows I could see the two familiar figures sitting at a table laughing.  Two sundaes sat between them half eaten as the young girl said something with a huge smile.  Alberto and I got out of the car and walked into the shop.
Ruby’s eyes brightened as she saw us, “mommy!  You came for ice cream too!”  Roberto turned toward us and smiled as Alberto glared at the prince.
“Next time tell me when you’re running off with her,” I said as I sat next to the small girl who continued to eat her ice cream.  Roberto laughed it off.  The two of them looked like they were always having fun together.  Ruby really loved spending time with her father for that reason– it was never boring.  Alberto did not say anything, he never yelled at Roberto for doing stuff like this with Ruby… at least not in front of her.
“Want some icecream mommy?” Ruby asked, “maybe daddy will buy you some too!  Al too!”
“Al doesn’t eat ice cream,” Roberto said, “he is too boring.”
“I don’t want any Rub, why don’t you two finish your own,” I said.
Ruby looked at us sadly and Roberto smiled, “that gives us more time to go the park and play!”
“Robe–” Alberto began to stop him but it was too late.
“I wanna go to the park!” Ruby exclaimed turning towards me and I nodded my head.  It was impossible to say no when she looks so excited like that.  Alberto groaned.  He could not say no to Ruby either.
Keith- I sat on the bench in the courtyard laughing as Keith and Kieran played with toy swords.  Keith was letting Kieran win, while the young boy was going to town hitting his father with the toy sword.  It took him a while to get use to the idea of having a father in his life, but he soon grew to love it.
I think that was partially due to Keith spoiling the hell out of him.
Keith falls for every request the young boy makes.  If Kieran was to ask his father to buy Kieran his own island and build him his own castle, I believe Keith would do it in a heartbeat.
Keith really is a great father.
After getting bored of wacking his father with the toy sword Kieran ran towards me with a huge smile on his face.
“Mommy, can we stay the night here?  Daddy said he’ll teach me how to play basketball!” Kieran smiled.
“Umm…” I said anxiously as I turned to Keith who was massaging his shoulder as he walked over.  I have not spent the night at the castle since before we split, and Kieran has never spent a night away from me.
“Please mommy,’ Kieran exclaimed as he grabbed my hand, “I want to learn how to play, and I bet I can beat daddy’s butt!”
I laughed nervously, “ummm… sure!”  Kieran’s eyes lit up as Keith sat down beside me.
“There’s already a bedroom set up just for you,’ Keith said smiling, this fact did not surprise me at all since he started setting up the bedroom the same day he discovered he had a son, according to Luke.  Keith turned toward me with a wink, “you can always stay in your old room.”  My cheeks went red as I avoided looking at the prince.  Kieran swung at his father with the toy sword that was still in his hands.
With puffed up cheeks the boy stated, “don’t be creepy to my mommy!”  Keith laughed at the action.  Kieran refused to allow the two of us to be alone together.  He did not want anyone to get close to me.  I am not complaining or anything, it is not like I wanted to become close to the prince anyway.
“MC was mine first.”
“But she’s my mommy!” the boy exclaimed, “you have your own!”
“Sometimes mommies and daddies need alone time together though, don’t you want to have a little sister or brother?” Keith asked and the boy stared at his father in utter confusion.
I groaned, “that’s only if mommy and daddy were still together.”
Joshua-  I sighed as I stood in the doorway watching Joshua and Joel sitting on the floor of the prince’s office.  Joel was showing Joshua all of his books that he had with an excited expression.  It has been a while since the two first met, and they have spent a lot of time together.  Joshua is an amazing father, and Joel has grown close to him.
The public still does not know about Joel’s existence, nor does the king and queen; however, Joshua plans on changing it as soon as he can.  He does not care what opinions everybody might hold about it, he is just very excited to have a son.  A heir.
Joel has no clue what his future holds now that the royal family is beginning to find out about him.
“I’m glad that they finally met,” a familiar voice stated behind me, “prince Joshua has been happier recently.  He’s even read some parenting books to find out how to be a good father.”  I turned around to see the familiar face of Jan smiling at me as he held a tray of sweets and drinks.  I laughed at the idea of Joshua shirking his work to read a book like “How to be a great dad for dummies.”
That got the attention of the two boys on the floor.  Their heads turned quickly and Joel jumped up before running toward me smiling.
“MOMMY!” he yelled as he wrapped his arms around my waist, “dad said that he was going on a trip to a far away place and said we can come with him!  Can we mommy?”  I looked toward Joshua who was standing up as Jan slipped past to put the tray on the table.
“It is a business trip, but you’re more than welcome to join.  It’s to Charles.  There will be some free time where we can do some sightseeing,” Joshua said.  I do not really care to personally go sightseeing with the prince; however, it might be a good experience for Joel.
Joel looked up at me with bright purple hopeful eyes and I quickly gave in, “sure.”  Maybe this is also how Joshua plans on introducing Joel to the world?
“YAY!” Joel exclaimed as he ran back to the pile of books on the floor, “which ones should I bring daddy?  I was thinking of this one.  Can you read me one?” Jan and I laughed at the reaction as Joshua and Joel began to pick out books for the trip.
