hi socks just wanna let u know i have been thinking about those vashwood as roommates headcanons and i always come back to it cz it’s somehow??? so comforting??? 10/10 chef’s kiss thank u!
it's honestly my comfort au-- so here's a part two ! (here's part one)
Having Vash and Wolfwood as roommates would include(part two);;
warnings;; I included some nsfw headcanons this time. they're at the end and have a warning. This also has a bit of fighting/angst that ends in fluff notes: i have a couple of fics in the work for this au. let me know if there any big moments you would like to see written out into a full fic! (also possibly a knives spin off??)
Tumblr media
Their jobs/majors
I kind of feel like Vash is studying in the science department. Specifically something that has to do with plant science? Botany, Environmental science, maybe even biology? I know it’s a little on the nose but I really do think it would work perfectly for him
Maybe he even opens up his own little flower shop in the future??
No matter what he has a lot of labs and he is always tired after them.
He probably has a part-time job as a barista at a little cafe on campus
No thoughts just Vash in a cute little apron
He’s a fan favorite among the college kids. They say he makes the best coffee, and he sometimes gives people little freebies when they look sad
His manager Meryl actively yells at him for it, but she doesn’t actually care that much.
He ALWAYS will give you freebies if you come in to visit him. He gets a free drink as an employee, and he’ll save it for you just in case you come in. Sometimes he’ll even take it to go and drop it off for you
Wolfwood gives huge phycology vibes. Mans had a messed up childhood and wants nothing more than to help other people through that stuff
Either that or he’s an art student. I can see that too
He takes school very seriously, but he is horrible at math. He cannot divide to save his life. He’s had to retake his math class like three times
His job? Well nobody knows and at this point everyone is too scared to ask. (He’s a security guard lol)
Whatever it is, he hates it. He comes home grumpy and needs lots of hugs and kisses.
He’ll be all pouty and pissed off, and then you’ll give him a little kiss on the cheek and a small smile will break out
Bonus; Knives is on the track to becoming a surgeon. I will die on the hill that he is going into the medical field. (he’d look so good in scrubs) and i know McDonalds knives is kind of funny, but I'm thinking he’s actually and EMT. Imagine getting hurt and having Knives be your first responder (id die on the spot)
First Date
It’s not really a date- well you don’t call it a date. Vash just walks in with a couple of free tickets to a haunted house event thing  and asks if you and Wolfwood want to come
You’re like hell yeah
The drive there is like the calm before the storm. You listen to some music, seated in front with wolfwood driving. He definitely has his hand on your thigh. Vash is super excited about finally doing something that isn’t getting high and playing games
You all thought it was gonna be some dumb little spooky house. They’re never that scary. It’s just fun to see all the decorations and actors
Oh boy were you wrong
It’s so well put together. The actors are really into it, and they have amazing make up. When you’re standing in line, some clown girl walks up to Vash and you watch the regret build up on his face. The guy is already terrified
The first hallway is pitch black, and you have to rely on a feeling your way through it. Vash is mumbling about how much he hates it the entire time
Wolfwood is like “Don’t worry guys I’ll protect you.” And then proceeds to let out the loudest scream when the lights come on and there’s a girl dressed up as a ghost standing there
Soon all three of you are huddled up, holding hands, and shaking
These things should not be that scary!!!
It’s Vash who gets you kicked out
He gets so spooked that he runs into a bunch of boxes and knocks one of the fake walls down. The entire thing has to stop to fix it
You’re all banned
After that you go eat pancakes and complain about how scary it was
When things get tense
Fights can happen sometimes
None of you are perfect, and those boys have gone through some shit
Vash tends to shut himself away from you when he’s upset. He doesn’t come out of his room, and when he does he pretends like he’s fine.
He doesn’t like burdening other people with his problems.
Eventually it just starts to feel like he doesn’t trust you enough to let you in. SIt gets really bad when he tells you to go away one day, and you watch Wolfwood walk into his room 30 minutes later
It doesn’t really turn into a fight. You just get sad, and even a little insecure. So, you avoid him back. Not because you’re vengeful, just because you feel hurt
A few days of the two of you not talking and Vash is in tears by your door
He begs for forgiveness and explains why he’s like this
You tell him it’s okay, but what he does really hurt you. He promises to work on it, and he does
That night the two of you make up for loss time
Wolfwood and you fight a lot more
Most of the time it’s silly little arguments that you solve pretty fast
Wolfwood is bad at communicating in general. But especially when it comes to his feelings
He has really bad days sometimes, and he can get grumpy really fast these days, and one day you really piss him off
He won’t tell you what you did though, he just gives you the cold shoulder
That pisses you off because you’d so be willing to talk it out and apologize, but he won’t tell you what you did
So you’re mad now too
Things are tense between you too, and it all comes to an end on movie night when you start arguing about what movie to watch
You want to watch one of your favorite movies from your childhood and he says that it’s a stupid movie
Things get heated fast, while Vash just disappears into the background. He that the two of you need to workout your problems on your own (but he really wants to intervene)
When the tears start falling, Wolfwood immediately stops
He takes a breath, and the two of you sit down and just talk.
You talk ALL night about what happened, and what the two of you could have done better. In the end, you fall asleep on his chest while he plays with your hair.
You have movie night the next night to make up for it, and he puts the movie you wanted to watch in before you can even talk about it ( he ends up loving the movie and after that you two watch it all the time)
Id have to make an entire other thing for when Vash and Wolfwood fight because it’s no fun for anyone
NSFW stuff
After the three of you finally get past the awkward stages and start fucking, you find out these two are…horny
They’ll grab you and go to town any time
They really like to share you, but there’s no jealousy in the relationship so it’s okay for one on one time as well!
Wolfwood will pull you into steamy make out sessions whenever. He’ll do it out of nowhere. I imagine he just really likes you, and can’t get enough
He’s very handsy. He’ll constantly have his hand on your hips, or your thigh, and your waist. He likes touching you
He’s the type to sneak risqué touches in public. He like watching you struggle to not let anyone else know what he’s doing
Quickies everywhere with Wolfwood
Vash is a lot more loving (not that Wolfwood isn’t loving– he probably has cried during sex)
Vash takes his time though. He wants every moment with you to be special. He likes to do stuff like rubbing your back, and peppering kisses down your shoulders. He’ll run his hand up your shirt, and kiss your neck softly. He builds up to it
He really likes shower/bath sex. It’s intimate and relaxing
He also like when you take control (i know he’s a whimperer)
He is so bad at any type of public sex though. He gets embarrassed way too easily (and i think Wolfwood has fun with that)
When the three of you do it together it’s fucking electric

I don't know if I have the right brain capacity right now to type out a proper in depth post the way I want to, but since it's Day 3 of @tristampparty , and I definitely don't have any relevant fic writing to contribute (waves fondly at my mere 1 vashwood fic), I just want to throw out there --
Tumblr media
Him.
This is coming from someone who had never even heard of Trigun prior to last year - no knowledge of 98 Knives, Trimax Knives, all that good shit. I just really REALLY want to mention that Orange did a fan-fucking-tastic job of setting up and showcasing Knives. I don't know exactly what I was expecting the first time I watched episode 3, but the way Orange presented and established him really blew me away and captivated me in a way not many villain characters tend to do.
From his dramatic lone walk across the sands to Jenora rock, his beautiful piano melody intro contrasted with Vash's clear dread and fear, to his chilling unbotheredness upon lopping off some insignificant speck's (I imagine that's how he viewed Mr. Mine anyway) arms. Walking through said speck's blood while taunting his brother and throwing his loneliness in his face. The absolute nonchalance in which he sauntered up those stairs (with bloodstained feet might I add..) and got rid of anyone that stood between him and the plant. That evil laugh as he walked away from the city he just destroyed.
There's so many different elements and details in this episode and about Knives that I wish I could better articulate. I just remember watching this for the first time and being grabbed by the throat by Knives' atmosphere in this episode. The imagery and animation, the music. The direness, the brutality and tragedy, the way Knives was a clear trigger for Vash, and the depth of Vash's emotions and desperation across the entire episode.
*head in hands* it was so good. It was so fucking good and even as I rewatch it I can't get over how good it is. Especially now that I know the depth and the layers to Knives' character (guess who finally read Trimax last month).
He's so fucked up and interesting and fascinating and he breaks my heart/drives me mad AND JUST ASDL;KFJSGDKF BEFORE I START REPEATING MYSELF --
Orange did a really, really good job with him and this episode. And it's one of several things I appreciate them for when it comes to Trigun Stampede.

Vashwood thematically feels like two starts orbiting each other very closely, while Vashmeryl is like a planet naturally orbiting a start or large force of mass. Like they both are about two people revolving around each
i see u and if u dont mind me pulling off this to make it much more essay-ish than it needs to be,
for me it feels like vash has 2 sides to his character and both wolfwood n meryl are there to understand each of those sides
wolfwood relates to and resonates w his more "monstrous" side, theyve both seen hell and come out with completely different views but despite that they still are probably the only two who really Get eachother for that, just feeling too big for your skin and that theyr only deserving of loneliness, but they find eachother and they click because they fit more in with the monstrous, evil, barely human people of nomans land who want to see it burn and theyr always pulling themselves from comfort and happiness because they feel they dont deserve it and they need to atone for the people who Made them, but they find it in eachother whether they mean to or not until the very end. they even became so enamoured with eachother that when wolfwood died, in a sense, he joins rem in vash's head as someone to fight for and someone who shapes his reasoning, he only kills legato to save livio because wolfwood died for livio, just like how rem died to save everyone so then anyone dying would be a waste of her death
for meryl she sees herself in the more human side of vash, despite all hes been through he still smiles like its nothing and she knows damn well thats not normal and hes hiding his pain because hes still a person. when vash kills legato he breaks down completely she holds his head in her lap and thinks about how she did the same when she first killed someone because its such a human reaction, something the people of nomans land seem to have forgotten. theyr horribly terrified to get close to eachother because she knows hes not human, she knows what hes capable of and shes absolutely got issues herself with being emotionally closed off and for vash we know he punishes himself by not allowing himself simple comforts as well as the fact he knows hes a danger to those around him but theres still a person in there and meryl sees it and vash knows she does and is so relieved that Someone does but theyr both too traumatised to get close but by the end of the manga we start to see them perhaps warming up to the idea of being closer
you can even expand further on this with wolfwood's status as a victim of the narritive by watching how all the gungho guns are picked off one by one (besides livio) including knives and wolfwood because thats vash's whole reason for not just giving up and living a quiet human life as eriks, wolfwood (and knives, and the rest of the gungho huns) dying can be read as vash losing his need to be a monster, and while it pains him to see his partner and brother die its like that inhuman part of him - or the need to use it - dying too, which can also be seen in his hair turning black, and whos still there by the end when his hairs fully black and theres no threat forcing him to be a monstrous angelic saviour to the world? meryl - his humanity. we dont really see much of him living as human (such as allowing himself to grieve, recover, love, eat, sleep, form bonds, laugh, smile, be happy) before the series ends but i love that it lets us fill in the blanks
anyway uhh TL;DR wolfwood brings understanding and comfort in vash's inhumanity and meryl reminds him of and encourages his humanity

do you have any whumpy fic recs (ideally romance, but gen would do in a pinch)? Open to any fandoms. I feel like I used to see them a lot more, but they are harder to find these days. Bbts really hits the spot tho btw haha.
ANY fandoms? oh boy do i.
Hotel Heart by Laughsalot3412 (and its sequel Safe as Houses): not quite romance but not NOT romance ot3 leverage psychics au where eliot is a hitman who used to be under the control of a horrible empath who left him with major mental scars and huge trust issues. he reluctantly ends up protecting another empath (hardison) and thief (parker) and sloooowly starts to work through the aforementioned trauma while they take down the aforementioned evil empath together. excellent series with excellent pangy plot. also i knew nothing about leverage when i first read it and it’s what got me to watch the show.
Hold my Eyes to the Sky by myrmidryad: an enjoltaire/les mis longfic set in a 1970s(?) wizarding au in which grantaire is a very sad and lonely werewolf and the idealistic activist he’s hopelessly in love with just got himself turned as well, and grantaire has to help him navigate the changes while dealing with his own self-worth issues and tragic backstory. you want whump? look no further.
Occultation by Geese_in_flight & pineapplesquid: a novel-length au of the book Winter’s Orbit, in which the main difference is that kiem, not jainan, is the one dealing with a previous, horrible arranged marriage. somehow this simple switch brings so much fresh potential to the characters (i loved seeing how this played into kiem’s self-worth issues, and also loved this exploration of what jainan’s character would be like if he had been able to flourish the last few years), with a whole new set of pangs. i recommend both the book and the fic!
爱不释手; never let me go by yiqie: a post-cql wangxian getting together fic with the classic amounts of yiqie pain & pining & h/c & devastatingly beautiful writing about the devastatingly beautiful experience of being in love. also blood. honestly most fics by yiqie probably fulfill this request (are you into vashwood, perhaps?)
Morning, keep the streets empty for me by feyburner: a wangxian modern au oneshot with self-sacrificing wei ying getting into trouble and landing himself in the hospital while pining very very hard for his cultivation partner. i’m reccing this one out of all feyburner fics because it has the obvious physical hurt but fey is so good at weaving pangs into fic that tbh there’s emotional whump to be found in most of them. also, god-tier writing in general.
the kite string and the anchor rope by fleurdeliser: a wangxian canon-divergence au that falls into the sickfic whump subgenre. the pangs! wangxian’s love for each other and for a-yuan and the way wwx’s desperation and powerlessness in the face of a sick child (and his own illness) clash with how the world perceives him at the time is so 🤌🤌. this is saved in my h/c favs folder for a reason.
The Long Way Home by itsnatalie: extremely whumpy batfam tim & jason fic, which i’ve definitely rec’d here before but if i’m reccing whumpy longfics it HAS to be on the list. good god this fic is a masterpiece, both for the angst and for the absolute beautiful worldbuilding/navigation of its horror tropes.
and since you like bbts, i’ll also self-rec a few of my older fics! i think you’d probably enjoy this river runs to you, a wangxian/mdzs modern cultivation longfic feat. (sort of) identity shenanigans, angsty backstories, self-worth issues, and the main character getting all manner of hurt. also: you’re the trouble that i always find, a wenzhou/shl dreamsharing/amnesia/sort-of-timeloop fic in which the main character is supposed to dream about killing his love interest but said love interest keeps dreamcrashing to change the plot.
this reclist could’ve been dozens of fics long tbh. i live for The Pangs which usually go hand in hand with good whump, and seek those fics out whenever possible, so as always this is a super incomplete reclist! also i welcome any and all recs in return.

Thinking about a Trigun au I made a while back that is super self indulgent with a side of projection /pos
I called it the Stale Donuts AU after the donuts I would sometimes get from H-E-B as a kid that, as far as I can remember, were always vaguely stale.
It is at its core, a modern AU–Cryptid Vash–Vashwood story hybrid hodgepodge thing that was also!!! Very much inspired by multiple fics I had either read or was reading at the time!!! And of course full of yummy delicious self indulgence and self projection with bits of me spread throughout like the stale donuts thing!!! Yippee!!!!!!
On to the bits and bops of the au itself in a very rambling way (I'm sorry):
Wolfwood is Mexican American and the main pov of the thing. He lives in an apartment with Livio, who's going to the local college (go girl go, get that higher education ✨). Wolfwood drives a motorcycle because why wouldn't he BUT he ALSO owns a motorcycle place where you can get shit repaired and customized an shit like that (I don't know vehicle things ITS A COOL IDEA I DONT KNOW IF ITS ACCURATE). Meryl also probably works there with him, because in my mind I can't for the life of me separate the thought of Meryl and driving things probably because I watched Stampede first but that's besides the point—we're ignoring that. Livio, Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly were all friends in highschool (maybe they were in a shitty band?? That's a thought for a different day) and stayed friends into their adult lives (they all care about each other so much guys). ALSO this whole thing takes place in Texas, so AT SOME POINT one of them worked at Whataburger and one of them worked at a DQ I don't know WHO WAS WHERE but at LEAST ONE OF THEM I SWEAR.
Anyways
On his way to the motorcycle shop, Wolfwood passes the H-E-B and has to drive over a short bridge. Guess where he finds Vash.
One day he's coming home from work, and as he's crossing over the bridge he suddenly stops because JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING. Illuminated by the motorcycle headlights, a large, feathered...something startles and crawls over the edge with a sound of pain, leaving behind a trail of blood. Yippee!! Vash makes an appearance!! Of course Wolfwood's freaked the fuck out by the bleeding thing under the bridge, yet for some reason he follows it anyway (I haven't really thought of anything except hey that thing looked kinda hurt and Melanie raised him with compassion ig so)(and I love stupid men). He sees that this giant bird is 100% actually kinda injured (imagine getting hit by a car) and manages to calm it down enough to help it out at least a little, but he's also kinda on his way home and can only see with a flashlight, so there's not much he can do. He does toss it a snack he found hidden in his jacket tho. After that whole cryptid nonsense, Wolfwood stops at H-E-B! (YIPPEEE!!) Livio sends him a text. "You should totally get me a donut from the bakery"
"Still can't believe you actually like those" he sends back, still getting a plain glazed for himself. He offhandedly wonders if the bird thing would like donuts.
The next morning, now armed with a first aid kit, he buys a donut and stops at the bridge, hoping the creature from before is still there. Oh hey look, the creature from before! Now that it's daytime, Wolfwood can clearly see that yeah, that thing is definitely hurt. He says hi, and the creature seems to recognize him from the night before, but still won't let him get close enough to fully see anything other than feathers and old scars. Donut time!! The perfect distraction!!! I don't know what kind of injuries Vash has, but whatever it is Wolfwood manages to patch it up at least a little bit while he's munching on the donut. I like to imagine he's at least a little bit good at caring for animals (specifically birds) because Tristamp Wolfwood taking care of Thoma chicks makes me ill (/pos) so uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh chickens. And maybe like, a cockatiel for fun. Miss Melanie had chickens and a cockatiel that the kids would help take care of. It ends up becoming a routine where Wolfwood stops at the bridge to chill with the bird cryptid every morning and evening. Eventually he ends up telling Livio, Meryl and Milly about Vash. He also very quickly figures out that Vash has human level intelligence and isn't just a giant freaky animal and Vash manages to communicate what his name is!!! Yippee!!!
In this Vash has the Big Bird™ cryptid form and a normal human one, but can't switch between them when he's injured (like being hit by a car) so it's really great that this random human guy is helping him out.
The first time Wolfwood sees Vash de-birdified is hilarious because he goes to the bridge like normal and sees feathers everywhere, no giant bird in sight, and a vaguely familiar naked blond man chilling in the middle of it all. As soon as he sees Wolfwood, his face lights up and he starts excitedly waving.
"Wolfwood!"
"Needle Noggin?!"
"Look I'm all better!!"
Plot wise, no fuckin clue where it goes from here, vibe wise fuck it we ball. All I know is hijinx ensues and it's great fun all around YIPPEEEEEEE!!!
I think that's all I got for now, might post more if I think of anything✨✨✨

Dude kneel was my favorite fic on the face of the earth. If you don’t want anything to do with it it totally respect that but I hope someday you’ll rewrite or repost it. I read it so much I nearly had it memorized
Hey do you wanna get married or something? Because this is the best compliment ever and I never stopped thinking about it. Sorry, I know you sent me this months ago but I finally got the motivation to dig through my docs and hit copy and paste. FIND KNEEL BELOW! JUST FOR YOU!
Kneel
Please enjoy my fleabag-inspired Vashwood AU, where Wolfwood is a disillusioned priest with the kink and Vash is a secret angel. Something about having a cold tears down his defences that he’s not just a normal human, and Wolfwood starts to catch on.
The church is remarkably cold today, Wolfwood thinks, as he walks towards the pulpit.  The air has a chilly bite to it and sends a shiver down his spine. He will have to ask Milly to distribute blankets to the parishioners for the next time, lest they start getting complaints.
Fifty pairs of eyes follow him from the pews, holding their stare as the entrance song rings across the stone walls. Nobody is excited to see him delivering the mass today.
“Father Wolfwood? He’s all right, a bit rough around the edges. He seems dissuaded by the spirit these days. Maybe he needs to go on a religious sabbatical.”
It is true that he has been a bit, well, bored, lately. He delivers the same Mass every Sunday. Receives the same sort of confessionals every day. Baptises the same type of wriggling babies. Attends the same standard of funerals. He has completely lost his motivation, his provocation, for the spirit. Maybe he is in the wrong line of work.
His black robe sweeps around his ankles. Were it not for the organ and the singing, he would hear it, swish swish swishing beneath him like its own prayer.
The entrance song comes to a close as he places his bible on the pulpit. He prefers his own, rather than the church’s large scripture. He can make notes this way and scribble drawings of a burning bush, or a ridiculously large boat with two of every animal.
With careless fingers, he opens the bible and clears his throat. His earthy brown eyes lazily scan the crowd, the forthcoming speech stirring in his mind like old bones coming to life.
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Wolfwood’s voice echoes throughout the church. He opens his palms towards the ceiling, as he always does.
“Amen,” the church replies.
Wolfwood delivers the greeting speech with practised boredom. He wishes something would happen. Please God, if you are even out there, save me from this mundanity.
His tongue forms the final words. “The Lord be with you.”
“And also with you,” comes the echo of the crowd.
“Please be seated.” Wolfwood nearly yawns. He closes his eyes, feigning spiritual enlightenment.
“And also with you.” One singular voice breaks the silence within the church.
Wolfwood’s eyes shoot open. He hadn’t expected his joke of a prayer, to be saved from this mundanity, to be answered so soon. Forty nine other pairs of eyes turn to see who has just spoken up.
He pinpoints him immediately. Spikey blonde hair. Undercut. His cheeks are pink with embarrassment. His nose, too. Tall, red coat. Glasses. Sheepishly grinning and sitting down to escape everyone’s gaze.
Also an idiot, apparently.
Wolfwood has never seen him here before. A surprised smile twitches at the corner of his lips, taken aback, the sluggish boredom replaced with renewed vigour.
He continues with the rest of the sermon, his heart suddenly beating in tandem with the rhythm of his words. Something about this blonde man’s eyes watching him (they’re blue, even from behind the pulpit, Wolfwood can see that they shine like sapphires) lights a fire in him. He has not felt like this since he first started studying scripture.
At some point, towards the end of Mass, he hears someone sniffling. Thick, wet sniffs that punctuate the silence around his speech. This was to be expected, though, considering how cold the church is. Wolfwood is not able to tell who it is until his eyes land, once again, on the blonde stranger.
He is the one sniffling. His nose is pink, like an English rose, and he keeps rubbing at it. He should just blow his nose and get it all over with.
Considering the sniffling, it was also only a matter of time until the sneezing commenced.
“...all the glory and honour is yours, forever and ever,” Wolfwood concludes.
“Amen,” the crowd replies.
“H’ihZTSHsHh’UE!”
The sneeze echoes off the stone walls of the church. Luckily, the organist begins playing, muffling the sound of the next sharp, wet sneeze.
“-- eh’TDhSHhh’ieW!”
Wolfwood searches the parishioners to see where the sneezes came from. The likeliest suspect is the same spikey, sniffly stranger from earlier, and Wolfwood is correct in his assumption.
Warm, liquid heat fills his veins like syrup. The man is bent forward in the pew with elbows on his knees. He tends to his dripping nose with a pathetic piece of tissue and looks absolutely miserable. Does he have a cold? Why is Wolfwood’s heart beating so fast, just from looking at him? It is as though he is looking at an angel, something holy, even though the man is just suffering through a cold. Maybe Wolfwood should–
“Father? Wolfwood?” Milly’s voice pulls him out of his thoughts. The young woman is standing next to him with the box of wafers and wine in her hand.
“Are you okay? I’ve been trying to get your attention. We’re ready to start the communion rite.”
“Ah.” Wolfwood shakes his head, hoping it will rid his mind of the man’s pink nose. He needs to focus. “Right. Sorry. Let’s go.”
He takes the box of wafers from her hand, or the body of Christ. How can Christ’s body be in these pathetic little wafers? He should at least be in a 12 ounce wagyu steak, that would be more fitting. Wolfwood thinks. He does not suppose the church could write off wagyu beef for expenses, though.
He stands in front of the pulpit as people begin to line up to receive the body and blood of Christ. Milly pours the wine while Wolfwood hands them the wafers with practised apathy. The Body of Christ, Amen. The Body of Christ, Amen. The Body of Christ–
His indifference is dispelled when the man in the red coat suddenly appears before him.
Wolfwood swallows. His throat is tight against his priest’s collar. They are probably the same height, yet the blonde appears a little shorter because he’s tucking his chin down slightly. The position allows him to gaze up at Wolfwood with sparkling blue eyes.
“Father,” the man says courteously, his tongue grazing against his bottom lip. It leaves his lips wet, similar to his nose, which, now that Wolfwood is closer, is actually an irritated shade of red.
Wolfwood ignores the shiver that electrifies his body as he repeats the word like a chant in his head. Father. Father. Father.
“The Body of Christ,” Wolfwood says, his tongue thick in his mouth as he raises the wafer.
“Amen,” the other replies softly, never once breaking eye contact.
He expects the blonde man to hold out his hand and take the wafer, like everyone else has, but instead he drops open his mouth slightly and allows his pink tongue to slide out of his mouth, resting against his pillowy bottom lip.
He continues to gaze up at Wolfwood expectantly.
Gritting his teeth, the priest places the wafer on the tip of the believer’s tongue. He feels like he is buzzing with electricity. The man lifts his tongue, slightly, so slightly, so that it touches the tip of Wolfwood’s finger as he places the wafer.
Shocked, Wolfwood draws his hand back as quickly as one does when they touch a hot stove. The moisture settles into his skin like venom.
Warmth stirs in his abdomen. The man draws his tongue back into his mouth, letting the wafer disintegrate on his tongue. He gives Wolfwood a small smile and a wink.
Wolfwood cannot seem to break eye contact with the stranger as he exits the line and the next parishioner steps forward. He has to remind himself to look away, to focus on the person in front of him.
He flexes his hand that had been touched by the man’s tongue and ignores the heat bubbling inside him. The priest readies the next wafer.
“The Body of Christ.”
“Amen,” the woman replies and holds out her hand.
***
After the service, Wolfwood walks behind the church to smoke. It is a quiet spot and overlooks the cemetery, and few parishioners tend to bother him back here.
That is, until today.
He lights the cigarette between his lips and leans his head back against the freezing stone wall. He lets his eyes slip shut as he battles with his own detachment for this place. At least it is quiet and peaceful out here–
“Hi.”
Wolfwood jolts at the sound, his heart ricocheting around his chest like a bullet. To his right is the blonde parishioner with the pink nose, the same from earlier. How did he know about his hiding spot?!
He bites his cigarette and glares at him as he tries to slow the hammering in his chest.
“Fucking hell, you almost gave me a heart attack! Do you just sneak up on everyone like that?!”
“Oh, sorry.” The stranger looks genuinely surprised and apologetic, and maybe a little shocked to hear a priest swearing. He gives Wolfwood a gentle smile, the kind that would make anyone trust him immediately. Wolfwood feels himself grow even more on edge.
“I thought you heard me coming. I just wanted to say that your service was really great.”
Wolfwood huffs a laugh. “Don’t usually get compliments like that these days. Thanks.”
The man cocks his head to the side and lifts an eyebrow. He looks a bit like a puppy tilting its head.
“Why not?”
“Mmm,” Wolfwoof hums. “It’s not important.” He waves his hand at him, as if to shake away the topic. “Anyway, is this your first time here, blondie?”
The man does not seem bothered by the nickname. In fact, it makes his smile grow.
“Yes, I just moved here. I volunteered a lot at my previous church and wanted to do the same here. I thought I’d come find you to ask about any help you may need.”
Wolfwood snorts. “Really? We usually only get delinquent kids that need community service time comin’ around here to help out.” He takes a long drag of his cigarette and angles the smoke away from the man.
“You got a name?”
“Vash.”
Vash. “Wolfwood. Nice to meet ya.” Wolfwood puts his cigarette between his lips and offers his hand, which Vash kindly refuses, holding his hands up to his chest with his palms facing the priest.
“Ahh, you probably don’t want to shake hands with me. I have a bit of a cold,” he says, grinning abashedly. “Sorry if my sneezing messed up your sermon today. I didn’t want to get anyone else sick, so I sat in the back.”
Yeah, so Vash could sneeze all over everyone in front of him? He really is a bit of a moron. But Wolfwood is lucky he was not sitting up front, sneezing as he was, otherwise he would have had a boner for the whole church to see.
“Hm. Are you an angel, or somethin’? Like actually.” Wolfwood tucks his chin forward and looks at him from over the rim of his glasses. This man is far too nice for his own good.
“What do you mean?” Vash has not stopped smiling since they started talking, and his smile has only stretched, as if he is surprised by being called an angel. The question clearly makes him nervous even though Wolfwood was just teasing.
“I mean – you’re sick as hell, and came to Mass just so you could ask about volunteering, and you’re at least considerate about being sick. What’s the catch? You hiding something?”
“N-no! I just like helping my community, thahh…”
Wolfwoof watches as Vash’s hands steeple over his nose, anticipating the inevitable. Fuck, stop staring.
But he cannot. Vash’s pretty blue eyes pinch shut and his golden eyelashes catch in the sun like a flame. His lips draw back over his teeth to reveal sharp canines as his pale hands rise up to tent his nose.
“H’ahDZSh’hue!-- huh.. h’uhDThSCH’ue!” He stays bent forward for a millisecond, eyes shut, as if expecting another. When a third does not come, he rights himself and looks at Wolfwood again with a sharp sniffle.
The priest watches as one of Vash’s pink, damp nostrils closes with the sniff but the other does not. Ah, so he’s congested.
Wolfwood cannot pinpoint it, but the atmosphere seems brighter, lighter, now. He could have sworn he saw a little golden halo of light flash around Vash’s head when he sneezed, but maybe the sun is just playing tricks on him.
Once again, the priest’s collar is tight around his throat as he swallows. He is suddenly grateful for the extra fabric in his robe and he just hopes that it is covering the emerging hard on.
“God bless you.”
“Snff!.. Thangks.” Vash smiles brightly again, like the blessing has just renewed him. Maybe he is just a religious weirdo. “Might be a while udntil I can volunteer, though.” He laughs a little and Wolfwood swears he hears wind chimes rustle on a nearby tree. Which is odd, because there is not a single breeze in the air.
“No kidding.” Wolfwood kicks his foot up against the wall of the church. “We don’t have anything going on yet, but we’ll do a winter clothing drive soon. Milly’s setting it up, though, so I’d talk to her.”
“A winter clothing drive… Perfect, I’ll go talk to her about it then. I also wondered—“ Vash steps closer so that they are only a foot apart. Wolfwood’s skin shivers as he comes closer, as if someone has just placed a cold hand on his back. The blonde lowers his voice even though they are alone.
“— is there someone I could talk to? I’ve been… I suppose, going through a difficult time, but—“
Wolfwood holds up his hand to stop him. “We offer confessionals and counselling sessions at specified times, and I’m on break right now.”
“Oh, I’m very sorry—“ His smile breaks for the first time. Did a cloud just cover the sun?
“But—” Wolfwood keeps his hand up but places his fingers down so only his index remains up. “You are welcome by my office at any time. Or in my hiding spot. If you bring a few beers, we can have a proper chat.”
Vash grins again, and suddenly the cloud passes. Light floods around them like a shining beacon. Wolfwood thinks it must be a coincidence.
“That would be great.”
“No wine coolers. I don’t drink that sissy shit.” Wolfwood puts his cigarette out on the stone wall of the church and pinches the butt between his fingers. Milly has told him off for cursing around the parishioners before, apparently it’s not very “professional”.
“Oh, so you’re a cool, swear-y priest, are you?” Vash’s voice is teasing, light, and airy. Wolfwood could have this back and forth for hours.
“All the best are.” Wolfwood cannot help but grin. Finally, some appreciation around here.
“Thank you, Father. I’ll come by sometime.” Vash gives him a small wave goodbye and walks away.
The last thing Wolfwood sees is the end of his red coat gliding around the corner. Why does he feel so good right now, after just a short conversation with Vash? Something inside him feels light again, as if he could walk on air and watch the world below.
Father, Father, Father.
***
Vash rounded the corner as calmly as he possibly could, until he was out of sight from Wolfwood. Then he broke out into a sprint and ran far and fast, away from the church and away from anyone who might have seen his drop in disguise. He probably looked quite insane, running in jeans and combat boots and a red coat, and many humans stopped to give him a strange look.
His legs carried him as far as a secluded park. His cold, this silly thing that humans caught and were weakened by, made it difficult for him to catch his breath,
That had been close. Too close, Nai would say, you’re going to compromise your true nature if you keep it up.
And to that, Vash would say, It’s okay! Why does it matter if they find out that we’re angels? Aren’t we supposed to be helping them, anyway? Maybe knowing who we are will help them understand!
Nai would roll his eyes, and he would either leave it at that, or lecture him on how helpless humans were, how exposing their true divinity would ruin the humans, how their entire world could be undone if he so much as stuck a wing out of line.
Deep down, Vash knew his brother was a little bit right, but he was a little bit wrong, too. Wolfwood understood, and he was not helpless.
He had been assigned to this particular priest by Nai. Another priest who’s lost his way, Vash. Just go down there and perform a few miracles and he’ll be back on track.
Most priests were not particularly beautiful, or fun to be around. They were often old, or too serious. But Wolfwood was a different story entirely. He was tall, and very handsome. He had had an interesting childhood, based on the report Nai had given him, and had lived in an orphanage for most of his life. According to his profile, he tends to be blasphemous, unruly, prideful, lazy, and even lustful. Vash, as his assigned angel, would have to set him on the path towards holy righteousness again.
It seemed he had become disillusioned with religion in the previous years, and needed divine intervention to get back on track. Easy enough. Vash would swoop in there, perform a few miracles, and then leave. It should be simple.
Except, it was not. Vash’s heart had hammered in his chest like a rabbit beneath a hawk’s shadow when he first laid eyes on Wolfwood. The priest’s robe was tight against his chest, the black and white collar wrapped around his throat, and a small silver cross hanging by a silver chain around his neck.
Despite his immediate attraction for the priest, the visit had still gone (somewhat) according to plan. Wolfwood sensed Vash’s presence and felt the spirit during his service, and as such, the Mass improved. At the end, he had heard snippets of other parishioners gossiping about how much better the service had been, how much more enigmatic Wolfwood had been.
The only hiccup was this cold. He had caught it in the days leading up to his visit with Wolfwood. It is unusual for angels to catch colds, but certainly not unheard of. Being on Earth, surrounded by unholiness and sin, made him more susceptible to illnesses. When Vash woke up the morning of his visit with an ache in his throat and a stuffiness in his sinuses, he was not the least bit surprised.
Now that he’s in the park, he can stretch out a bit. He wanders deeper into the woods until he arrives at a clearing. The hills extend for miles, with trees dotting the perimeter. No one will see, and if they do, he can just fly away.
Vash removes his coat and allows his wings to stretch out, a pleasurable shiver running down his spine as they extend from between his shoulder blades. Ah, much better.
He lays down in the grass and stares up at the sky. Wolfwood knew he was hiding something. He had even called him an angel.
The opportunity to think further about it is interrupted by the same spark in his sinuses as earlier. His nose scrunches in retaliation, lips drawing back over his teeth to reveal sharp canines, and he twists to the side.
“H’ddYZSHhue! ‘ihHTSCHhhyiewhh!” The contagious mist catches in the sunlight, a clear testament to how wet the sneezes were. He sniffles pathetically and rubs harshly at his nose with the heel of his hand.
That had been another thing Vash had noticed about Wolfwood’s lust. He liked this particular bodily sensation, and had paid special attention when Vash did it in the church. How funny, that he likes something so delicate and simple. Vash thinks.
The angel rolls back on his spine and sighs. He feels like he knows so much, yet so little at the same time.
***
Four days later, and the mundanity of his line of work has returned. Vash has not been seen in the church since the last Mass, and Wolfwood has to admit that he misses his presence.
This particular priest hates confessionals most of all. He is not interested in hearing about people’s sins, nor does he particularly care to comfort them, but it is sometimes interesting to hear the latest bit of church gossip. For example, when someone with a recognisable voice comes in and confesses they stole something from their neighbour, who also happens to be a church member, and now Wolfwood knows about the old lady thievery drama between Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Downy. Or, when a certain (Mrs. Downy, of course) hardly anonymous churchgoer confesses that she slept with a married man (Mr. Jones), and the wife (Mrs. Jones) doesn’t know. Those days are the most interesting.
He has a feeling, though, that today will be a slow day, full of people who actually want to confess their boring sins and feel better about themselves when he tells them they’re forgiven.
Beside him, the curtain swishes on the other confessional box as someone steps through it.
It begins. Wolfwood yawns. The confessional sits down.
Wolfwood continues slouching, bored. He tugs on his priest’s collar and hopes this will be done quickly. It only takes the sound of a familiar voice to suddenly make him sit upright and at attention.
“Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned.”
Blondie.
“It has been… um…” Vash trails off, and Wolfwood swears he can see him counting on his fingers through the screened partition. Seriously?
“It has been, um… Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever confessed, actually. So I guess that’s the first sin. But here are my sins.” He sniffles a couple times. Is something bothering his nose? Is he still sick?
Wolfwood’s throat is tight. What could this goody two shoes possibly have to confess about? Did he hug someone too hard and give them a bad back? Did he give some crying child an ice cream, and then that kid turned out to be diabetic?
“I’ve fallen in love. And it’s a bit unconventional.”
Wolfwood rolls his eyes. He gets about a hundred “I’m gay” confessionals every week. And he didn’t have to guess that Vash was, either.
This is a waste of a confessional. Though, maybe he’ll get some more intel on who Vash is in love with. Wolfwood was really hoping that he was single. Not that he should, though, since his like of work forbids it.
“Well, the Lord loves all his children, regardless of their preferences. Despite what you may have heard.” He leans his head against the wooden wall, aching for a cigarette. He really does not care to reassure people about their sexuality. A hole is a hole. What is even more annoying is the combination of these confessionals and finding out his new love interest is already in love with another.
Vash gives a small chuckle. “No, no, it’s not that. It’s unconventional because of his… line of work, I suppose.”
Wolfwood pauses. Line of work. “Could you elaborate?”
Vash is quiet for a moment. The silence hangs delicately in the air.
“He’s a priest.”
Something inside Wolfwood shatters like glass.
Wolfwoof says nothing for an instant. He hears Vash’s congested, snuffly breathing, which has started getting louder. Is he nervous?
“I’m sorry. That was stupid. Forget I said anything.”
Wolfwood stares at the floor ahead of him.
“Wolfwood? Are you there? Please say something.” His voice cracks, desperate.
Wolfwood closes his eyes and leans his head back. Some sort of feeling takes over him again, filling him with the same magnetic spirituality as it did in Mass when Vash had his eyes on him. He relinquishes himself.
“Kneel,” he says, softly. He should not be doing this.
“What?”
“Kneel.” He should not be doing this.
Wolfwood waits to hear Vash sink down to the floor before he rises from his seat. He silently slips out of his own side, then stands outside of Vash’s curtain for a beat. His heart hammers in his chest like a drum. Do not open the curtain. Do not open the curtain.
He tugs back the curtain and they meet each other’s gaze. Vash is kneeled on the floor, hands pathetically folded in his lap, eyes wet. His nose is still pink, a sure sign he has not shaken his cold yet. His eyes, fuck, his big blue eyes, look up at him so softly.
Vash staring up at him like this, like he is an answered prayer, makes him feel alive. Perhaps what he is about to do is acceptable in God’s eyes, if Vash is looking at him so religiously.
Wolfwood takes a knee and allows his hand to glide over Vash’s jaw, his thumb resting against the base of his ear. His skin is warm. Vash breathes through his mouth, lips slightly parted. His eyes search Wolfwood’s, darting from his lips, to his eyes, to his hand resting against his face. He looks angelic.
Vash is the first to break the spell, when he sees Wolfwood struggling too. He leans forward and kisses Wolfwood, careful at first, light. Much too cautious for Wolfwood’s taste. A match strikes within the priest at the taste of his lips and he deepens the pressure in turn.
He pulls Vash to his feet as their lips strike against each other. Pushing and pulling. It is all Wolfwood, at first, on the offence, with Vash pathetically accepting. At the feel of Wolfwood’s hand on his hip, his fingers digging into his skin, he presses forward, parrying each of Wolfwood’s kisses with his own.
They stop suddenly when Vash presses his hand to Wolfwood’s chest.
“Wait,” he says. He is breathing hard. “I still have a cold.”
“Like I give a fucking shit about that. Come here.”
Wolfwood is not going to stop now. He steps into the confessional box and closes the curtain behind them, then wraps his hands around the back of Vash’s thighs to pick him up. Vash yelps a bit in surprise but is quickly placated when he finds himself on Wolfwood’s lap, seated in the confessional booth.
“This… Kissing a priest, in a church. Won’t he get mad?” Vash asks between kisses. His hand is warm against Wolfwood’s neck, the other is knotted in his black hair.
“Who?” Shut up and just keep kissing me, he thinks. Vash’s lips taste like golden honey, and each time they drift away, Wolfwood is left wanting more.
“God.”
Wolfwood snickers. “What’re you, his secretary?”
Something about that causes Vash to pause, and he takes a second to come up with something clever to get Wolfwood off his trail.
“Aren’t you, technically?”
“Touché.” He presses a soft kiss to Vash’s lips. “If you don’t tell on me, I won’t tell on you. It’ll be our little secret.”
Wolfwood is growing harder with Vash in his lap, and the way he keeps pulling away to sniffle and rub at his nose is not helping. He is too far gone to care anymore. Each time he turns his head away, Wolfwood gives him a moment to recover before gripping his fingers in Vash’s blonde hair and tugging him back. He is impatient, restless. It is a combination of breaking his vows as a priest in the holiest place he could possibly break them, and the sensation of Vash sitting atop his cock.
His lips find Wolfwood’s neck and begin making deep, dark bruises above the collar. A gentle moan unwillingly escapes him at the sensation. He does not think it can get much better until Vash’s breath starts to hitch. His breath staggers against Wolfwood’s lips, and he almost mistakes it for pleasure, until Vash is pitching forward against Wolfwood’s shoulder, sneezing right against the collar of his robe.
“Hih’DHhSHHh’YUE!” The mist coats half of Wolfwood’s throat. He grits his teeth to avoid moaning.
“Suhh.. Sorry…” Vash breaths, then– “--eh’IDTSHhhyIEW!” His pink, twitching nose presses against the crook of Wolfwood’s neck again, and Wolfwood swears he saw a halo around his head again.
“What was that?”
“What?” Vash asks, leaning back to wipe at his nose with the side of his index finger.
“That thing you just did. The light. What was it? Where’d it go?”
Vash looks stunned. “I… I don’t–”
The sound of footsteps echoing against the tiled floor of the church causes them both to freeze. Wolfwood clamps his palm over Vash’s mouth, his other hand steadying the other’s lower back.
The other curtain draws back and someone steps in and sits down. Fuck.
“Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.”
Wolfwood stays silent, lost for words, until Vash pokes him in the ribs.
“Pl-please continue.” Wolfwood’s throat is as dry as sandpaper. Vash watches him like a hawk.
“It has been two years since my last confession. Since then I have lied, cheated on my wife, and…”
Wolfwood feels Vash’s lips part against his palm and his breath hitches. Oh, fuck no. He glares up at Vash and sees his nose twitching against the side of his fingers.
‘Don’t you dare.’ Wolfwood mouths, baring his teeth at him.
Vash shakes his head and pinches his eyes shut. His hands grab onto Wolfwood’s shoulders.
“... I have used drugs, and alcohol, and been blasphemous…”
Jesus, this guy needs to wrap it up. Wolfwood can only focus on Vash right now, the way he feels against his cock, how he so desperately needs to sneeze.
The man keeps droning on and Wolfwood feels like he is in hell. He presses his hand tighter around Vash’s mouth. If this guy catches them, he is definitely going to lose his job.
“H’ih…”
‘Blondie!’ Wolfwood mouths, but it is useless. He removes his hand from Vash’s mouth and wraps it around the back of Vash’s head, tugging him forward just as Vash’s chest expands one last time.
“Heh’idZSHhh’yue!” Wolfwood presses Vash’s face against the crook of his neck, but not quickly enough to muffle the first sneeze. They echo around the confession box and the church.
“ih-CHSHhh’ue! ihGKTSHhhIEW!” Each sneeze bursts a mist of successive spray against Wolfwood’s neck. This, he thinks, must be some sort of baptism.
Once Vash has finally stopped sneezing, he rests his forehead against Wolfwood’s shoulder and sniffles thickly, making little congested sounds that do not help their situation.
“Uh… Bless you, Father Wolfwood,” the man says, pausing his confession. Wolfwood is about to open his mouth, deliver the prayer of Absolution and get him out of here, when Vash decides to speak up instead.
“Thank you!” Vash chirps, and his stupid voice is so remarkably different from Wolfwood’s that the man goes silent. If Wolfwood could see the man, he’d imagine that his jaw would be hanging open.
Wolfwood will beat Vash’s ass later, most certainly. For now, he just wraps his hand around Vash’s jaw to shut him up before turning back to the confessionary.
“Apologies, I caught a cold and my voice is going. God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son…”
He finishes the prayer of Absolution and sends the man on his way. When he’s gone, Wolfwood all but kicks Vash out of the confessional booth.
“‘Thank you’?!”
“He blessed me!” Vash rubs his ass as he stands up. Ouch, the church tiles are painful to land on.
“No, he blessed me, you dumbass. You’re lucky he’s only marginally dumber than you so he won’t tell the whole church I was fucking the blonde in the confessional box!”
“I’m sorry, I had to sneeze,” Vash whines as he dusts off his jeans. He stares at Wolfwood with those big, dumb, blue puppy eyes again, and it makes Wolfwood groan and pinch the bridge of his nose.
“I’m going to hell. Get out of my church.” He is too mad to remember the golden ring of light around Vash’s head when he sneezed. He just wants Vash out of here so he can forget this ever happened.
“I’ll be in Mass tomorrow.”
“Oh, no, you are never allowed in here again.” Wolfwood shakes his head at him and points towards the door.
“Why not?”
“Because–” I’ll fall in love with you, I’ll break my faith, I’ll do worse things to you than just kiss you in a confessional booth. “Because. Just go.”
Vash gives him a parting look, as if he has something he wants to say, but he says nothing. He just nods and sulks out of the church.
Unfortunately everything seems a bit dimmer once he is gone. Wolfwood sighs and rubs the back of his neck as he walks toward his office, feeling listless again. Somehow, though, he knows deep in his heart that Vash will come back, and they will both make the same mistake all over again.

Hi...if you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Y'all I never get asks i'm so excited omg
I could talk forever about my fave ships but I'm gonna try and keep this short by just doing my current fave ships.
Satoru Gojo/Suguru Geto (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Tumblr media
I will always be a fan of enemies to lovers, but lovers to enemies who still at the end of the day love each other is just next tier. Satoru and Suguru are a fantastic duo and compliment each other super well, while also managing to share only one brain cell between them. They both have similar goals, but very different views on how to achieve them, and it's in this difference that their tragic conflict arises. Even still, they both deeply care about each other and trust one another until the very end, and I think that's one of the most beautiful aspects of their relationship.
He Tian/Mo Guan Shan (19 Days)
Tumblr media
A beautiful enemies to lovers (sort of?) that started off super rocky, but has turned into something so cute and heartwarming. I love how He Tian and Mo Guan Shan don't try to change the other, but do strive to be better for the other, if that makes sense? They accept each other where they are at (the whole idea of not being afraid of darkness), but still try to make themselves better, and work together to do so! He Tian helps Mo Guan Shan out with his school work but also in shouldering the burdens of his personal life, while Mo Guan Shan helps He Tian to open up to others and rely on them for help/comfort too. They started off pretty toxic, but they've grown to be such a good pair.
Vash/Wolfwood (Trigun)
Tumblr media
After the whole "I can see it in his eyes" and Wolfwood's ensuing GayPanicTM, how could I not ship these two? But beyond that, these two are another dynamic duo that compliment each other super well, and while they do have similar goals of wanting to save and protect people, they have very different philosophies on how to accomplish that, which is where a lot of their conflict stems from. But in their case, I think their differences balance each other out, because regardless of what they believe personally, neither of them is necessarily right or wrong, and both of their philosophies need to coexist in order for them to survive. I also find their dynamic fascinating in that they both struggle with their humanity in different ways: Vash, striving to be human despite being something other; and Wolfwood, feeling as though he's had his humanity stripped away and forced to become a monster. Because of this, they tend to understand each other in ways that no one else would be able to, and I think they also help each other to see the good and the human in themselves in spite of their respective feelings of alienation.
Osamu Dazai/Chuuya Nakahara (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Tumblr media
I literally only started watching this show for them. I kept seeing people posting about THAT scene from Dead Apple and wanted to check it out, and nothing could've prepared me for just how gay their relationship is. Even though they claim to hate each other, these two characters really seem to be all talk. They work so well as a duo (obsessed with how well their abilities compliment each other), and I think they also have a deeper understanding of each other than what any of the other characters would really be capable of--and similar to what I had mentioned with vashwood, this stems at least in part from their questionable relationship with humanity, and how they both need the other to maintain their grip on humanity. Despite being wholly human, Dazai appears to be alienated from his own humanity, whereas Chuuya, who actually houses some sort of god, appears to be the most human of any character in the series. Of course, Dazai needs Chuuya to help him see any value in life, while Chuuya needs Dazai to bring him back to human whenever he fully uses that god-power. Beyond that, I love how much these two still trust each other despite being part of opposing groups, and I'm convinced that these two are BFFs no matter what they or anyone else say.
Kazuki Kurusu/Rei Suwa (Buddy Daddies)
Tumblr media
Last but not least, the daddiest buddies you'll ever meet. Again, these two balance each other out super well both personally and professionally, moreso as the series continues. I enjoy that they also seem to accept each other where they are at and have a mutual understanding and trust despite not knowing the full story behind each other's actions and behaviours ("I won't ask"/"I wouldn't tell). But even still, they work together to improve themselves for Miri's sake mostly, but perhaps for each other as well, and I love how they go from feeling trapped in their pasts, incapable of changing, to finally deciding that they're going to change no matter what, and they're going to make a better future for themselves and Mirir regardless of what it takes.

Tumblr media
i love this page soooo much... their expressions are cute. i'm getting "he's an idiot, but he's MY idiot" vibes from wolfwood, lol :') they're in love your honor
and the cliffhanger reveal... i don't have that much to say about the plot tbh... hmmmm, i'm not separating these chapters in this post anyway.
Tumblr media

it wouldn't be a nightow action scene if it was easy to follow, but i'm glad i examined this page in detail instead of letting my eyes just pass over it because

Tumblr media
OH YEAH, VASHWOOD, BABEY!!!!!!!!!! vash holding on to the punisher... :D

Tumblr media
THE SILLIES
man this was a fun one. i loved seeing vashwood being a battle couple again and just having a relatively low-stakes/light-hearted romp was a really nice thing to read after the horrors. which i am now a few weeks removed from, but they still haunt me...
trigun: the lost plant:
as someone who had (has!! i still love it!) an enduring dr stone obsession in 2021-2022, i am IMMUNE to boichi's art!!! this is significantly hornier than dcst though, not that i'm surprised in the slightest, dcst does have its own horny designs/moments unfortunately... this is the difference between shonen and seinen i suppose--hold on, that's not what this post is about!! *deletes entire other paragraph talking about dr stone*
60 years post-canon... vash's lifespan has been significantly shortened, but i do wonder how much he has left in him. he lived 150 years without any visible black appearing in his hair, so even if he has just a few strands of blonde left, they might last him a long time... well i don't think any of these stories are canon anyway so it doesn't matter LOL
as far as the plot goes...

the explanation for how plants produce matter is interesting but why did it manifest as a child and why is it a black hole and why this specific plant and how did vash even--oh, WHATEVER!! i suppose there is a reason boichi was the artist for dr stone and not the writer.
very cool to see vash drawn in boichi's style though! it's pretty similar to the early dr stone manga, even though dcst came 5+ years later... and the art style of dcst changed over time, although--wait, no, that's NOT what this post is about!!!
the denizens of the sand planet:
okay, this one is by... *googles* wait, this is the guy who did lucifer and the biscuit hammer?? and planet with??? HUHHH... i've only watched planet with, but i've heard VERY good things about biscuit hammer (manga)... anyway
this is a cute story. the found family is cute.
okay sorry this doesn't matter but it is bugging me (ha) a bit. these post-canon stories don't like... actually show us how the world changed after the battle. because it's something i've been wondering about... like, they show a guy cleaning a plant bulb, but would there even be any plants left in bulbs at this point?
and like, this...
Tumblr media
wouldn't the exploitation end. like i suppose plants would still get "worn out" eventually, but i would expect more of a symbiotic relationship at this point. so what's with this imagery?
I'M OVERTHINKING IT!!!!! OKAY!!!! JUST ENJOY THE CUTE FOUND FAMILY STORY!!!!
les enfants:
i. am. in. LOVE!!!! WITH THIS ART STYLE!!!!!!
Tumblr media
THEY ARE SO FUCKING SHAPED!!!!!!
Tumblr media
legato?!?!?! :D :D :D :D :D
Tumblr media
ohhh i love this redraw!!!!!! oghhhhhh!!!!!! oooooooogh!!!!!
i love this art!!!!! i love this art!!!!!!
Tumblr media
EVERYBODY SHUT THE FUCK UP HE'S SLEEPING!!!!!! ohhh i love this. i like the wording too. "decided to slumber"... he's fucking eepy. he's cozy.
ALSOOOOO
Tumblr media
RAZLO (i'm assuming)!!! HE'S SO FUCKING. SHAPED. his GRIN!!! IS SO FUNNY. i'm in tears... i love him...
Tumblr media
WAAAHHHH COUCH JUMPSCARE... I DONT NEED THIS WHEN I'M EXPERIENCING SUCH JOY GUSHING OVER THE ART...
the art outside the storybook is also lovely, it's very detailed and delicate...
i would like to believe merylmilly got married and grew old together... yeah...
Tumblr media
DUDE, I'M GONNA CRY...... vashwood image... this is a really lovely story. definitely my favorite of all of them.
milly/meryl satellite tv:
Tumblr media
so they chase him around for 24 hours straight once a week... poor vash LOL
Tumblr media
hey hey hey hey hey this is supposed to be a silly goofy fun time why are you showing me this. i'm so sad. i'm glad the family is being fed at least.
Tumblr media
i always assumed that "eriks" was a name vash chose for himself but this is way funnier
Tumblr media
there is so much going on here
Tumblr media
LIVIO LMAO......
yeah that was very silly
raijin: rising:
incredibly jarring tone shift from the previous story lol... i really enjoy the rai-dei focus though. he's cool but he didn't get a backstory in the manga so i appreciate this a lot. i wouldn't mind more stories like this focusing exclusively on side characters tbh.
it gets pretty brutal... i don't know what to say about this story besides that. it's an interesting look at what could've made rai-dei the way he is.
cutting is fighting:
we're ending this not with a bang but with a whimper... swapping meryl in for the haircut scene is... blegh. whatever. and they exaggerate her crush on vash too much. like yeah she's kind of tsundere in canon (moreso in the anime imo) but she's not a teenager yknow? the satellite tv story did that too but that one was supposed to be goofy and exaggerated so it was whatever.
the most interesting thing here is the lack of dialogue. that's a fun creative choice. and i like the gag with vash's hair being too nasty to comb LOL... and the haircut options. that's all...
overall i'd give this a... 6.5/10? 'les enfants' was definitely my favorite by far and nightow's story was a lot of fun too. the others ranged from "meh at best" to "sure, it was good" lol. i liked seeing the different art styles... i don't have much else to say.

Ilsa, I’ve seen you posting a lot of Trigun and well I’m intrigued by it, to say the least. But just for giggles, would you try to convince me why should I watch it? 😆🤚🏻
AHHHHH!
I didn't think Trigun was going to worm its way into my brain so much but here we are. There is so much to love about it and I adore so many of the characters for a billion different ways. The character type of someone who is made into a killing machine and then is slowly convinced to accept love and forgiveness is my favourite and is all over trigun. So many characters see themselves as monstrous but choose to do what they see as right for the sake of / with the help of their friends. There are moments of silliness and of tragedy, all with an incredibly interesting setting which slowly gets revealed.
Because of the recent release of Trigun Stampede, the community is really active rn (esp on Tumblr!) and it's really cool to see so many incredible fanarts, comics, fanfics and discussions being made. It's very fun to be part of a very active fandom, but also one that is 25 years old and has fanworks that are older than I am.
I really love it, and I would recommend it, but unfortunately I also have some caveats which I gotta mention.
What you gotta know before getting into Trigun is that there are 4 different canon versions and each one has its problems. I wish I could recommend X version as the definitive and best, but that just doesn't exist which is very annoying.
1) Trigun Maximum: the manga
Good: incredible nuances to characters like Wolfwood, Knives, Livio/Razlo. Vashwood subtext is off the charts and their dynamic is incredibly fascinating and central. This is the most detailed and complex story of Trigun and has lots of themes, characters and plot points that don't exist in other versions. Has elements of sexism and sexual violence, but (imo) to show how shitty the world is, rather than to revel in the misogyny. The tone is tragic, with equal mix of hope and pain.
Bad: the female characters of Meryl and Milly get massively sidelined in comparison to their depictions elsewhere. It's a very long manga and has (imo) pacing issues that limit the impact of emotional moments. The art style is beautiful, but notoriously difficult to follow, especially in the many long fight scenes (particularly bad in volume 5). There's lots of disagreement about 'correct' translations and it can be hard to tell which character is doing/saying/thinking what at points which can make it confusing and frustrating to read at times.
Overall: 7/10, I would recommend but maybe not as your first bit of exposure to Trugun
2) 1998 anime Trigun
Good: the silliest of Triguns with some great voice acting. The friendships between Vash, Milly, Meryl and Wolfwood are very sweet and engaging (although it would have been nice to see more of the four of them together). It's a fun overview of the Trigun story and has a very entertaining mix of comedy and serious emotional moments. Lots of hijinks and lots of fights. Milly and Meryl are core characters and get time to shine (it is impossible not to love Milly). This is personal preference but the animation style is kinda goofy in the way it changes styles to exaggerate characters' feelings which I love. The first 12 ISH episodes are very Saturday morning cartoon vibes without being too inane and childish.
Bad: because it only had the first couple of volumes of the manga to adapt from, the mid-season tone shift and later fights feel rushed, a little confusing and ultimately lead to a less satisfying conclusion than in trimax. The misogyny is noticeable, especially in the first couple of episodes, though is limited to a couple of comments in some episodes and doesn't (I think) make it unwatchable. The antagonists are rushed through and it's hard to work out who the 'main' villain is. Tone change is quite abrupt. Wolfwood is a less developed character with a less intense (back)story, Livio/Razlo doesn't exist at all etc
Overall: 7/10, this is what I'd recommend you start with. It has pacing issues and uncomfortable sexist comments, but I think they're outweighed by the strengths of the main casts relationships and the pure entertainment value of it. Not the most satisfying ending, but they were constrained so :/
3) Badlands Rumble (film)
Good: animation is SO crisp. Wolfwood is at maximum chest exposure and actually his character is pretty interesting here. Milly and Meryl are back, but in limited roles. Some interesting world building and Vash and Wolfwood go thru their divorce arc TM which is dumb and funny and angsty.
Bad: Wolfwood is far too pale. The first half an hour is made almost unwatchable by the decision to make sexism and sexual harrassement a way to pad out the runtime. Vash is such a creep it just makes for uncomfortable watching.
4/10 don't watch if you're not already invested, and honestly do yourself a favour by watching the opening scene, then skipping to the 30 min ish mark and watch knowing that Vash has some very tough dried meat in his front coat pocket.
4) Trigun Stampede anime
Good: really cool 3D animation and music. Has Wolfwood's manga backstory and some manga characters like Livio and Crimsonnail, but with very different characterisations. I really liked the episode looking at the childhood of two orphans and how their love for each other was manipulated against them both. Much bigger focus on Knives than the original and more elaboration of his motivations and plans. Zazie is SO much better here than in the original anime. No uncomfortable sexism yay!
Bad: I... don't like tristamp very much. The characters are watered down from their manga versions and Knives is just kinda evil because he was en evil child, rather than the much more nuanced version in trimax. Milly doesn't exist (yet) and they added in a new character Roberto whose role in the story is (or at least was to me) obvious if you know the basics of the hero's journey structure. Everyone has been twinkified and Wolfwood doesn't even have his tits out smh. Vash just comes across as having less agency and his motivations feel weak. I really just dont like a lot of the character decision here BUT to be fair, that's because I'm comparing them to the manga. But also, a main plot point is someone taking over his brother's body so that his sisters can get pregnant and it definitely still feels weird in context. The focus on the two brothers makes other dynamics a little weaker, and has led to a lot of incest-y fandom things which is ehh.
5.5/10 there are some things it does very well and it's very popular for a reason but I personally think the characterisations are disappointing. It's trying to strike a weird balance between being its own, new thing and also nostalgia for original elements, leading to some questionable pacing and plot choices. It doesn't even have Midvalley the Hornfreak.
I would love to be able to talk about Trigun with you and be passionate about the elements of it I love, but also I don't want to recommend it without giving you a fair picture of the parts I'm more critical about. I genuinely love the world building and characters, which are expressed best in the less accessible form of the manga but are also found in the animes. What I'd recommend is watching the original anime first, but also you might need to give it the benefit of the doubt for the first couple episodes which is where the dodgy 90s sexism is most obvious. I'd be super interested in hearing your thoughts and reactions to it if you did watch it, and also please bear in mind that my complaints about tristamp are personal and there are many who love that version so don't take my negativity as fact.

It's Vashwood Big Bang preview week on twitter so I thought I'd share here as well!
‘with you, the sun rises slowly’ is a modern au about letting into your life someone in need (the neighbor you've been pathetically crushing on since you moved in, to be exact), sharing a bed, dealing with trauma, and asexuality 💜
excerpt under the cut for easier reading:
His cigarette done and his nerves relaxed, Wolfwood shooes Kuroneko back inside—which gets him a reproachful meow—and follows after her.
Livio and Vash are watching a cooking show for amateurs, commenting on the dishes and desserts presented. Wolfwood watches from the corner of the room for a minute, thinking that’s not how you’re supposed to make grilled cheese—who the hell puts butter on both sides of the bread?—before taking that as a sign he should get cooking himself.
Wolfwood steps over Livio’s legs just to be annoying, but it comes back to bite him in the ass when Livio exclaims, “Oi, where do ya think you’re going!” while Vash is already reaching out to him with a shit-eating grin.
Vash and Livio each grab him by the wrists and pull him down. Wolfwood crashes backwards on the couch with a grunt, and before he knows it Livio has extended his arm over his shoulders and reached out to Vash, squishing Wolfwood between them.
“Hey! I need to—” Wolfwood begins to protest, only to make an indignant noise when they both shush him, nodding at the television.

Time for volume two! Things are picking up steam; we’re switching over to Trimax next week and I anxiously await more angst.
I feel bad for Nightow, having to deal with getting canceled right as the story was getting started in earnest. I hear that this was around when the 98 anime was made, as well? If so, they really didn’t have much to go off of. One of these days I should watch that series, too.
This occurred to me when I was watching Tristamp first, but it’s fascinating how Vash feels so... relatable? I am by no means a space western gunbattle manga protagonist, but he’s an incredibly compelling and unique character. I had to go back and remove a sentence after I realized I was writing in first person as if I were Vash himself. (“The first time *I* encountered Legato?” I’ve never met Legato and I hope I never do.)
I suppose it’s a testament to how well-written this series is, making us all feel empathy for this fictional man.
Now for some specific thoughts:
Tumblr media
-Interesting that the villains have actual McGuffins to give to Vash in this version. In Tristamp I got more of a feeling that they were just a loose collective of Knives devotees? Here there’s an official numbering system and everything. I suspect we won’t be learning what that coin box does for a good while…
Tumblr media
-This strikes me as a pretty assertive move on Vash’s part, compared to his Tristamp self getting dragged head first into the plot whether he wanted to or not. He’s taking up the protagonist mantle (and all the tragedy that comes with it) a bit faster here.
Tumblr media
-Well this is... surprisingly nice for a guy who previously delivered a severed head in a bag. “Good luck ladies, spend your time wisely before Knives inevitably exterminates you along with the rest of humanity <3”
Tumblr media
-Wolfwood!! I’m not gonna lie, my confirmation bias made me misread this line as “trans man” multiple times. I blame the sheer amount of t4t Vashwood shippers who constantly create amazing art.
Tumblr media
-I have seen this panel before, as part of a “Trigun out of context” meme. Knowing the context still does not diminish the sheer power of… whatever this is. Nightow is living his artistic dreams ; )
Tumblr media
-Aaaand we‘re now at Knives’ rather disturbing attempt to force Vash’s angel arm. Here I was going on about how Vash is so easy to empathize and identify with, then the story hits us with this. It’s such a shame that in this version, there’s no one to come back and snap him out of it, so he has to shoot himself to downgrade from annihilating the planet to “just” wrecking a moon. Meryl, where are you when we need you? Also, poor Wolfwood, screaming at the sky, way out of his depth with no damn idea what is happening.
Tumblr media
-There are several gorgeous splash pages in this last chapter, but this one is my personal favorite. What a devastating sentiment.

Ok.. Ok.. Wolfwood sitting on the side, directing Vash was *chefs kiss*
but what if the next night, Vash sits on the sides and watches Wolfwood teach him? He might be a visual learner too?
what if im feeling silly and can't sleep so i drop this at 2am
PART 1
pairings; vashwood x (GN AFAB) reader warnings; once again, !NSFW MINORS DNI! , a bit of eeverything again work count; 1.2k
Tumblr media
“Watch and learn blondie.”
You can’t help but squirm under the pressure of the two gazes on you. It’s so different from the last time, so much more tense. When Vash had joked about being a visual learner, you had no idea the two would take it to this level again. Vash, watching from the side, his blue eyes trailing your exposed skin with a sense of longing. He got a taste of you last time, and now he wants more.
He can’t touch you though. Not tonight.
Wolfwood’s calloused hands run down your back, pushing your head down. He gives your ass, which is lifted into the air, a small smack. You can tell the man is grinning. “I know exactly what they like.” The man behind you mumbles, rubbing the skin that he slapped a little while ago. I’ll show you exactly what to do to make them scream.” Your head is spinning at the thought. Vash watching you only adds to your arousal. Especially when you’re faced towards him, watching his every move.
Every time Wolfwood squeezes your ass, Vash’s eyes widen. You can see the need written across his face. He jerks a bit as Wolfwood spreads your cheeks and lets out a little hum. “So wet already.” He runs a finger through your wet folds, and leans forward to stick his hand in your face. “Suck.” he demands, and who are you to deny? You wrap your lips around his fingers and lick at them. Vash sucks in a breath, as he paws at his pants.
“They’re so good at that aren’t they?” Wolfwood asks, cramming his fingers into your mouth. Saliva pools at the edges of your lips, and when he pulls his fingers out there’s a thick thread of drool. “Let them use their mouth a bit. They like that, don’t you sweetheart?” You give an affirmative nod, already a little too caught up in the moment to speak.
“Plus they look good with something in their mouth huh?” Wolfwood asks, pressing his hard cock against your ass. Vash’s eyes snap up to Wolfwood as he nods. “Cmon use your words. Tell ‘em how good they look.” Wolfwood sighs and Vash’s eyes widen before he stammers out a “Yeah! They look…amazing.” Vash sighs. He’s got his hands down his pants, making eye contact with you now. His gaze seems to soften when it meets yours, and you can feel your heartbeat pick up.
You don’t have time to think about it before Wolfwood is pulling you up so your back is flat against him. His hands grab at your breasts, squeezing roughly to draw out moans from you. His lips find your neck, and he trails soft kisses down your neck.
He flips you around suddenly and grips the back of your head as his lips find yours. It’s a rough kiss, rushed and passionate. He seems to be showing off extra hard for Vash today, working his tongue into your mouth right away. He pulls you as close as he can before pulling your head back by gripping onto your hair. Once again he’s trailing kisses down your throat, these ones rough– marking you. His teeth dig into your skin, then he kisses away the pain after. Each bite leaves you whimpering and moaning.
When he’s done he leans back to look at his work, smiling proudly. He leans in for another kiss. This kiss is much softer than the last, almost sweet. You kiss back with the same energy.
He slowly lets you drop into your back, so you’re looking at Vash upside down. The blonde has his dick out already, and is stroking it. His pupils dilated, cheeks red, eyes on you. His stare is unmoving. You almost feel small under it.
Then, Wolfwood pulls your legs apart. He runs his fingers against you, gathering up what he can before he pumps a finger into your cunt. Then two. You’re left gasping at the intrusion, lifting your hips up to meet his fingers. He chuckles a bit, but keeps his pace going. “So reactive.” he mumbles. His fingers curl in just a way that has you melting
He keeps going until you’re a moaning mess around his fingers, begging him to let you cum. “Pleasepleaseplease-” your words fall short when he curls his fingers again. “Go ahead.” and you do- you cum around his fingers instantly. He works you through the orgasm, before pulling out.
You have no time to miss the feeling of his fingers as you watch him hold them out towards Vash. Vash leans forward and immediately starts licking your juices off of Wolfwood’’s fingers. He treats it like he’s dying of thirst, and that’s the last bit of water on earth. Your jaw drops at the sight. After he’s done, he looks down at you and smiles.
Holy shit.
A gasp leaves your throat as you feel something hard at your entrance. Your eyes move back down to Wolfwood, who’s lining himself up.
His hands grip your thighs, pushing them back towards your head as he slides inside of you. Finally, he’s full in. He waits for a second, nails pressing into your skin. He presses your legs down as far as they can go, before he pulls out and slams back into you. You let out a cry and grip the mattress underneath you. “Just … gotta..” he’s grunting as he tries to instruct Vash, moving in and out of you . “Find… the right angle.” He presses up against you in just the right way, and suddenly there are tears in your eyes.
You’re almost seeing stars as he fucks you. Somehow, you reach a climax right away. Your pussy tightens around him and he smiles, ramming himself at you. He rides you through your orgasm, and leaves you screaming his name. When you regain your senses, Vash is covering his face with one hand, and jerking himself off with the other. He seems to have moved his chair closer, because you swear his dick is right above you.
You cross your eyes to get a good look, and Vash moans out for you.
This moment only lasts a second before Wolfwood picks up again, thrusting into you at that same deadly angle. You squeeze your eyes shut and let out a cry as he quickens his pace. “You can have ‘em…fucked out…” Wolfwood mumbles moving his hands up a bit to get a better grip. He presses down against you, your limbs burning. He’s got such high stamina, but you’re not sure how much longer you can last. Any longer and you might as well be a puddle on the floor.
Vash isn’t looking better. His hand is jerking around like crazy, and his face is fully red. He’s biting his lip to keep from moaning too loud, but it isn’t working. The noises the blonde is making are driving you insane. They mix so well with the groans from Wolfwood. You can already feel that heat building up again. You look up into Vash’s eyes and crumble once again.
“V-Vash!” You gasp out, and the man’s eyes widen. He lets out a loud moan as his cums over top of you. You follow quickly behind him, your hips spasming up to meet Wolfwood's as you tighten around his cock. The sudden orgasm makes Wolfwood stiffen as he pulls out, jerking himself off as his cum covers your stomach. “Shit.” He mumbles as it splatters against you.
The three of you are left panting as the moment dies down.
“And that’s how you do it.”

"don't think I don't notice you yawning," Vashwood
(prompt me about sleepy people!)
(the mood music!)
Long days make Nicholas a shitty watchdog.
Sunset creeps along the sand, dragging itself by brittle claws toward the mouth of the cave he and Vash have hidden in. They're at least an hour out from any shred of humanity, but the knowledge does nothing to ease the tension that gnaws at his bones. Distance means little in the face of Vash's bounty; people only see him as an opportunity, a means to an end.
That fact means shit all to Vash, which leaves Nicholas to shoulder the burden of keeping him upright.
Today was difficult.
Nicholas doesn't know how the gunfight started, only that he finished it after Vash sprinted around the corner with red on his hands and a fresh hole in his shoulder. It was probably something stupid, because it always is: a stupid offer, a stupid question, a stupid fuck who thinks they stand a chance against a calamity who calls wrath to heel.
Christ above, he'd wanted to wring the bounty hunters' skinny little necks for ruining his chance at a good night's sleep, regardless of why they were after Vash this time.
It doesn't matter how many times Nicholas watches Vash's skin knit together in front of him, doesn't matter how many times Vash gives him a beatific smile and says he's okay - seeing Vash hurt rouses a beast inside of him, one shot through with rage and ruin and more bullets than he can count.
And that doesn't matter either, no matter how much Vash insists otherwise, because Vash the Stampede is fucking incapable of existing without attempting to atone for atrocities he thinks he's committed.
"Wolfwood," Vash says. His voice rasps as he passes Nicholas's cigarette back.
Nicholas takes a drag, but doesn't speak.
"Nick," Vash amends, and then, softer, "Nico."
Dropping his head between his hands, folded on his knees, Nicholas says, "I would like to go one day without losing a chance at sleeping somewhere with a mattress."
It's a hollow truth at best, and out of the corner of his eye, he watches Vash slump forward.
"I'm sorry," Vash says.
Then stop trying to make yourself a martyr, Nicholas wants to snap, but they've had that argument so many times that he can recite it in his sleep.
He sighs, offers the cigarette back to Vash. "Keeping up with you is exhausting," he says instead. "I will, for as long as I can, but God, Vash."
"Don't think I don't notice you yawning," Vash says, cracking a thin smile. He leans into Nicholas's side with a low, heavy sigh, and brushes their knuckles together until Nicholas unclenches his fist. Vash's skin is warm, a small burst of sunlight under the silver stars. "The bags under your eyes have bags of their own."
"I know."
"You should sleep here," Vash says. "It's safe."
"Nothing's ever safe these days. I can't."
"You can." Vash rubs small circles against the back of Nicholas's hand, and Nicholas can't stifle the shiver that trickles slowly down his spine. "I'll be good. I promise."
Nicholas groans softly. "Angel..."
"Cross my heart," Vash says. His lips brush against the hollow of Nicholas's throat once, twice before he rests his chin on Nicholas's shoulder. "You do too much."
Nicholas doesn't do enough. He can't, not where Vash is involved - he'll never be worth the trust Vash places in him, will never deserve to be loved the way Vash loves.
He doesn't say this either, because that is a minefield of potential arguments at best, and Vash is right. Exhaustion prickles at the base of his skull, howls in his marrow and drags blurry fingers across his vision as Vash guides his heavy head down.
Long days and Vash's touch and his own haunted heart will be his undoing; Nicholas never been more sure of anything. But the suns have faded into night, and Vash has promised mercy, and Nicholas's pulse thuds steadily, without the sharp edge of fear.
And so, after a kiss and mumbled thank you, love, Nicholas surrenders to the dark.

Ideas and AUs I wanna write for in regards to Trigun
Fun fact: I have so many drafts and too many ideas, so I need to get this down now before I forget and I'd love to get everyone's opinion on some of these. So honestly don't be afraid to comment or dm in regards to these ideas, I'm an open book when it comes to brainstorming.
Game of Thrones AU:
I am an avid fan of GOT, I have every book, spin-off, lore book the whole works, hell I even have the cookbook.
In regards to this AU, the twins would be veer off as Targaryens. Rem as their mother who married an unnamed Targaryen King (cause names be hard be I'll figure that out when I get to it), so Knives and Vash being the next in line, Knives the official heir to the throne.
Knives as he's the heir has a lot less freedom, often being ushered off to learn how to rule the kingdom and their nations. This deprives Knives of a childhood, so he's more serious and eventually grows power hungry in his later teens.
Knives has a dragon, which is just as temperamental as he is. The She-Dragon is white in colour with aqua accents, and she's greatly attached to Knives as he is to her.
Vash on the other hand is a lot more carefree and is often found among the people, along side his mother. He's a lot more distracted and at times caught sneaking off to the dragon pit to admire the beasts.
Unlike his brother Vash never got a dragon, his was one of the very few eggs that became Dormant. So he much prefers admiring the dragons and watching in awe as his brothers she-dragon grows to be one of the largest dragons in their possession.
Not to say Vash won't ever get a dragon, as he'll eventually Tame a pitch black male with pirple accents, that hasn't had a rider in 50 years.
Wolfwood would be the Stark of the AU, living in the North and defending the borders from deserters of the Wall. And yes this AU will include Vashwood, Vash would be crushing hard on the tough North man.
Being the only Lord of the land, Wolfwood has a pack of dire wolves. And no, he does not name them seriously, best believe there's a Princess among them.
Meryl and Milly would be lady's in waiting of Roberto's house, who a high lord serving the king and eventually becomes one of Vash's knights, who complains about babysitting the prince.
Meryl is a ward of Roberto's, and holds herself to high standards, yet isn't afraid to disobey her lords orders if she thinks they are counter productive.
Milly is much like Bren of Tarth, she wants to be independent and help her father (roberto in this AU) protect their House. Is very loyal, as Meryl would back up, a bit of a clutz but great with a sword.
Elendira in this AU would be Knives first child with a woman he is betrothed to. He hates the idea of an arranged marriage, but being the next heir to the throne he doesn't have much of a say unlike his brother. His first wife will mysterious vanish, never to heard of again once Knives officially becomes king.
Con'rad is the kings and Knives chief advisor aka Hand of the King and Maester.
Legato would be Knives Chief of War.
Livio is Wolfwoods ward aka bastard brother who ends up serving at the Wall by his own tuition.
Plot:
Now I do have a plot that I'm going with this, most likely if I am going to make this it will be a full fledged fanfixtion with chapters and lore and all that kind of backstory with GOT terms, languages, etc as this is based in said universe just without GOT Canon characters and of course a different story line.
I am considering whether I want my own personal Trigun OC in this, this AU is still in the planning stage so I'll be tossing up whether storylines will suit it and how they'd go without them.
On another note, I have two trigun x reader stories in my drafts and I plan on publishing one or the other this weekend if not both.
I'd love feedback on this au as it's in the planning stage, so again feel free to comment or dm me in regards to ideas and I'll keep you all posted on chapters and updates for this AU and where I'll be posting once I do get it in motion.
Thank you all for your patience, love you all 💜
