most despised,most loved and most underrated of svtfoe for you. (p.s any ship you stan?)

Without knowing what category you're referring to (Moments? Characters? Episodes? Seasons? Subplots? Something else?), this is going to be a hard question. You know what, I'm going to give you episodes and characters.

The character I most despise is Ben Fotino. That guy was a total jerk the entire time he was on screen. He is a horrible... uh, goblin, I guess... with no redeeming qualities. The only thing that I might say was good about him was that he was instrumental in jumpstarting Starco, but if you follow me you know my feelings on that.

The episode I most despise is Here to Help. (Close second, third and fourth go to Sophomore Slump, Doop-Doop and Sad Teen Hotline.) Now, before you get your pitchforks out, let me explain. Moon's betrayal of Star is the stupidest plot twist in this show and one of the stupidest I've ever seen. As for the other thing in that episode, I think a lot of us can agree that that was a pretty bad way to make it happen. I would even argue it shouldn't have even happened at all. Tom and Star had a good thing going and their relationship could have easily developed into something healthier for everybody involved.

Most loved? I gotta go with Toffee (the episode and the character). The episode was the high point of the entire show and should have been the finale. And the character is among the best villains in all of fiction because he plays 4D chess and doesn't reveal his plans until absolutely necessary.

Now, most underrated. That's a toughie. I'm going with... River. He's an awesome dad to Star and husband to Moon. I would say River is actually the most rational person in his family. Look at when Moon is going on a mission into the Forest of Certain Death. Or when Star gets too wrapped up in the backstory and can't see the forest for the trees. Or when Moon betrays her daughter and everyone else of good standing. Or even when he pretends to be going out to give a lecture on throne posture, only to go monster hunting instead. Plus, come on! Who wouldn't want their dad to be as fun as he is?

Most underrated episode: Freeze Day. I love the concept of time travel, and I love the idea that Star just accidentally cast a spell with such dire consequences as freezing time. All the jokes hit on this one too. I love when an episode has enough good jokes to function on its own.

The last thing you asked about was any ships I stan. Regulars on this blog will know that my SVTFOE OTP is Jarco. I sort of like Starco and Stom too, but not quite as much. Outside of svtfoe, my OTP is Phinabella.

Today’s SVTFOE3 Recap: Damn.

Pony Head returns to St. Olga’s to see how the rest of the girls are doing, only to find that Princess Arms is now Headmistress of Brunch or something, but that’s interrupted when Meteora, or the Butterfly Formerly Known as Miss Heinous, arrives on the scene to learn more about her past from her robot mother, St. Olga.

BOOTH BUDDIES

During the reception at Ruberiot and Foolduke’s wedding (it’s not important, trust me), Star and Marco find a familiar photo booth and the former drags the latter into taking some pictures like the good ol’ days, only for the creepy and crazy Ben Fotino (voiced by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch) to trap them in until they get a smooch in.

C’mon, you all knew that was coming.

Skooled! is not a laugh-out-loud episode by much means, but considering the plot of the episode, I don’t think it was meant to be a laugh-out-loud episode. Sure, there’s humor here and there at the beginning and near the end, but for theh most part, it’s a surprisingly pretty serious episode focusing on Meteora, where we get to see but a small glimpse of her life growing up with the robotic St. Olga, which really kinda makes you feel bad for her when you start imagining how much better a person she could’ve been had she just been raised by her parents instead of a soulless machine her whole life. Also, RIP Gemini, and boy, Rasticore just cannot catch a break, can he? And Booth Buddies, while full of more humor and laughs than the other half, is also still pretty subdued, focusing on how much has changed between Star and Marco, and how their feelings have also turned out differently than we thought they would after the second season finale. And yeah, Star and Marco finally kiss in this episode. That’s the moment everyone’s been waiting for; it just wasn’t as romantic as everyone expected, isn’t it? In short, both are great, mature episodes that help advance the story and character arcs as a great episode should.

Next week: Things are gonna get worse before they get better, aren’t they?

Forgive Me

This story takes place after Divide and Conquer. Marco tells Tom about the kiss the day after the battle and when Tom discovers this, he does not take it well. Hope you like it! 

It was in the middle of the afternoon and Tom was lounging in his arm chair playing video games. He suddenly got bored and decided to pay Marco a visit. Yesterday's battle with Meteora left him pretty sore and drained, but that wasn't going to stop him from visiting his best friend. Tom couldn't believe he actually risked his life for Marco. Before he hated the kid, but now they were as close as they can be.

Tom was honestly grateful to have someone like Marco in his life. Not only did he save his life, but Marco did the same as well. If he hadn’t kicked Meteora in the face, all the souls in him that gave him life would have been sucked away and he would’ve died right there. Tom shuddered at the thought and checked himself in the mirror to make sure he didn't look sloppy and teleported to Marco's bedroom.

When he got there, he saw Marco sitting on his bed with an anxious look on his face and looking at something in his hands. When Marco saw Tom in his room, he gasped and quickly hid whatever he was looking at behind his back.

"Oh, h-hey Tom! What's up?" Tom gave him a weird look.

"Not much. It got boring at my place so I decided to come see you. You doing okay?" Marco let out a nervous laugh. Although he and Tom are on good terms now, Tom can be pretty unpredictable. His temper, which has improved a little, was still dangerous and Marco didn’t want to face his fiery wrath again.

"I'm doing alright. Just um thinking about yesterday's battle. Thanks for saving me. You really are a true friend." Marco voice cracked a little and Tom picked it up. He slowly walked over to Marco and sat down next to him.

"You don't have to thank me Marco. I know you would have done the same thing." Marco's eyes started to water up a bit, but he fought them back. He didn't want to cry in front of Tom.

"I sure would've. You mean a lot to me." Tom smiled and hugged Marco.

"Thanks." Marco hugged him back. The two pulled away and Tom noticed Marco still had a nervous look on his face.

"Marco, are you sure you're okay? You can tell me anything." Marco bit his bottom lip and looked down at his hands.

"I can't tell you."

"Why not?" Marco closed his eyes and felt tears threatening to spill. "You'll get angry at me." Tom sat closer to Marco and wrapped an arm around him.

"Try me." Marco took a deep breath and showed Tom the photo of him and Star kissing.

"I kissed Star."

Tom was quiet for a moment. He stared at the photo in disbelief and shock. He felt rage slowly bubble up inside him. His best friend kissed his girlfriend. He was cheated on. His eyes glowed a light red color and he snatched the photo out of Marco's hand.

"Marco! You kissed Star?! She's my girlfriend!" Tom stood up in rage and grabbed Marco by the front of his hoodie. Tom was starting to act like his old self again and it was scaring Marco.

"I thought we were friends! How could you do this to me!" Marco was crying at this point.

"Tom I'm so sorry! I can explain!" Tom ignited the photo in his hand and threw Marco onto the floor. Marco gasped in pain and quickly backed away from Tom. He knew Tom was going to get like this. He wished Star was here to save him, but she was out with Janna. Tom walked menacingly towards Marco and once he had him cornered, he slapped him across the face repeatedly.

Marco yelled out in pain and tried to shield himself from Tom’s savage beating. He didn't fight back. He deserved this. He kissed his best friend's girlfriend and shattered his friendship with Tom. Tears of pain and guilt slid down his cheeks as Tom continued hitting him.

"You'll pay for this Marco!"

"Tom! Please stop! Let me explain!"

"Shut up! I don't want to hear it!"

Marco started to taste blood in his mouth and decided to stop this. He grabbed Tom's wrists before he could land another slap on him. Tom, still in a state of rage, burned Marco's hands. Marco screamed in pain and withdrew them. Tom was breathing heavily and started at Marco with eyes that burned like Hell’s fire.

"Tom please! Let me talk to you!" Tom growled at him.

"Spit it out! Now!"

"When me and Star were trapped in that photo booth, I had no choice but to kiss her! It was our only way out!"

"Liar!" Tom roared.

"No! I'm telling the truth! When we went inside the photo booth, it started to malfunction and it trapped us inside! The goblin repairman told us that it was magical and that the photo booth could see inside our souls and wouldn’t let us out until we do something that will grant us freedom! So, me and Star talked about our feelings and that is when I decided to kiss her. The photo booth let us out and the goblin revealed to us that the photo booth wasn’t magical at all! He lied to me and Star so we could kiss! It wasn’t our fault! If I hadn’t done this, we would’ve been trapped in there for who knows how long! Tom, please believe me! I’m sorry!”

Tom sensed Marco's honesty and calmed down. His eyes changed back to their normal color. He looked at Marco’s burned, tear stained face and felt disgusted with himself. He felt tears of regret burn his eyes.

"Oh Marco, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!" Marco was still sobbing on the floor. His tears burning his singed cheeks. Tom took Marco's face into his hands and gently wiped his tears away. He took in the damage he has done to Marco and felt guilt wash over him.

"What have I done to you?!" Tom took Marco into his arms and carried him over to the bed. He sat down on it and placed Marco on his lap. Marco started to struggle and tried to break free from him, but Tom held him in place.

"Shhh, there there it's okay." Tom cooed. Marco calmed down and let Tom cradle him.

"I'm so sorry Marco. I never want to hurt you like that again." Tom placed a tender kiss on both his cheeks and rocked him against his chest. Silent tears ran down Marco's face as he laid his head on Tom's chest.

"Does your face hurt Marco?"

"Yeah. It burns really bad." Tom picked Marco up and laid him on the bed.

"Let me get you a cold washcloth." Tom walked inside Marco's bathroom and looked for a washcloth. He found one and ran it under some cold water. He rung it out and exited the bathroom. He crawled into the bed with Marco and gently pressed the cloth to his cheeks.

Marco winced at the coldness but then relaxed. Tom leaned down and pressed a kiss to Marco's forehead.

"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have attacked you like that."

"It's okay. I deserved it. I kissed Star. You have every right to be angry."

"I'm not angry anymore. Now I know it's not your fault. You didn't know you were being lied to. I forgive you."

"You do?" Tom smiled softly and kissed Marco on the lips.

"I can't stay mad at you. You mean too much to me. That's why I saved you from Meteora. I love you, Marco." Marco was shocked to hear these words. Tom loved him. Smiling, he kissed Tom back.

"I love you too, Tom. Thank you for being forgiving." Marco hugged Tom tightly and Tom hugged back.

"Will you stay the night with me?"

"Of course." Tom took off his boots and pulled the covers over them. Marco turned on his side and snuggled into Tom's chest. Tom wrapped his arms around Marco and kissed his forehead.

“Marco?”

“Yeah?”

“What is that goblin’s name?”

“I think his name was Ben Fotino. Why?”

“I want to pay him a little visit.” Tom said darkly.

“Tom, don’t do anything you’ll regret later. He’s not worth it.”

“It’s not right he lied to you and Star like that. He needs to be punished.”

“I know, but going after him isn’t going to make things better. Imagine what Star would think if she found out you hurt someone.”

“I guess you’re right.” Tom mumbled. Marco smiled and kissed Tom above his third eye.

“Lets not think about this anymore, okay?” Tom smiled and placed a few soft kisses on Marco’s cheek.

“Okay. Goodnight Princess Turdina.”

“Good night fire bender Tom.”

Marco fell fast asleep, but Tom didn’t. He just looked at Marco’s sleeping face and rested his palm against his still red cheek. Even though he knew this wasn’t Marco’s fault, he was still hurt. Star meant the world to him and to see his best friend, now lover, kiss her shattered him. Tom let out a soft sigh and combed his fingers through Marco’s soft brown hair.

He loves Star, but he also loves Marco, who also likes Star. This was a little overwhelming for the demon and didn’t really know what to do. Tom pulled Marco closer and rested his chin on top of his head. Maybe tomorrow he will sit the three of them down and address each other’s feelings. Maybe that will fix everything. Closing his eyes, he fell into dreamless slumber.

We already know how close Star is with the Diaz’s to the point where she’s practically family, but how is she with the Lucitors? They are the Butterflies closest allies (during her families time on the throne), but we never saw how she interacts with them as it was justified cuz she was on Earth most of the time and then there was the threat of Toffees return where she had to defeat him again, then busy with her activism on the whole Monster and Mewman unification and mostly cuz Tom was goin’ through his character development, but now that he’s completely changed, let’s see how she fits in with them!?

*Lake House Fever-The Lucitors own a (lava) Lake House like how rich and regal people have (in the Underworld in this case) and Star was hanging out with Tom and his fam surfing the lava waves with Star in a fireproof suit. However, she had to leave to help Marco with dinner (Tom is still chill after the “you-know-what”, even if Star’s still talking about Marco while she’s with Tom), but then a storm suddenly breaks out and she’s forced to stay with the Lucitors.

Here’s what we learned about the Lucitors: They are not abusive like how some fans thought from the beginning and that they treat their son very lovingly. We saw Toms parents, King Dave and Queen Wrathmelior in “Club Snubbed” and how Tom takes after his dad. He’s a Mewman married to a giant demon and Wrathmelior only speaks “Demon”, but she can understand English and those who can speak “Demon” can understand her. Tom also has a sassy aunt named Exasperella who’s dating a blob creature and a great grandfather named Relicor, who only shrieks in “Demon” and lives behind his own portrait (weird family). Dave seems to have mellowed out the last time we saw him, guess Toms anger management therapy rubbed off on him, huh? And they’re still close with Star despite her abdicating the throne.

They pass the time doing what normal people do on rainy lava-y days by playing board games and fixing up snacks to eat. Star tries to help out Toms mother with the latter, but her majesty (ironically) just keeps giving her the cold shoulder. Hmmmmmmm. The family then looks through the photo albums and after the baby pics of Tom, they get to “The Tomstar Section” where I remember seeing pics of Tom and Star first meeting at the Silver Bell Ball, buying Stars horned hairband (Ah-Ha! So it was from Tom! Knew it!) and Tom at Stars Going Away Party to Earth from The Magic Book of Spells in Stars chapter. Queen Wrathmelior wasn’t so interested in that section and runs off crying in despair.

Here’s the next question, 3.Is Tomstar gonna break-up? Star asks Tom why his mom is so upset with her and he says its because of the Starco kiss! (suspensefully) OOOOOOOOOOOH! Star is shocked that Tom knows about it and he said Marco explained everything (off-screen) and I think Marco must’ve said it was “in the moment” and that “he only did it to save themselves from the photo booth” and not cuz “they have feelings for each other” (or do they?) after finding out the truth from the Photo Booth repair goblin, Ben Fotino, to soften the blow. So then Tom told his mom (from Stars chapter, we saw a psychology pamphlet on “How to Handle Dating a Demon” and one of which said that they were very close to their mothers, right next to the temperamental issues and excessive eye make-up) and this storm happened because of her! Queen Wrathmelior can control the weather based on her emotions, so when Star brought up Marco, the storm raged in trapping her in with Tom and the family.

Tom didn’t want Star to be upset cuz he’s the one that’s supposed to be upset, however, he’s doing a very good job at being very understanding! Bravo, Tom, Bravo! And thanks to Marco, he knows about the “misunderstanding” inside the Photo Booth, however, there’s still the She said part in the He Said, She Said talk. Marco felt guilty and told Tom about it being his best friend and all, but Stars his girlfriend and never said a thing! Was she even gonna tell him ever!? Star then walks out. Wait what!? Star! Are you running away from your problems again!? Star where are you going!? Star!? STAR!?.....................(tea kettle noises sound) FORMER PRINCESS STAR BUTTERFLY YOU GET YOUR MEWMAN A** BACK HERE RIGHT NOW CUZ THIS IS YOUR LAST SEASON AND WE WILL NOT HAVE YOU GO ALL REVERTIGO ON US NOW!!! Uggggggggggh! SHE LEARNED NOTHING IN THIS SHOW! (dryly) Tom gets swept away by a huge lava wave and Star saves him avoiding the lava with her magic and all is “fine and dandy” again when she decides to stay.

Okay, so Tomstar did NOT break-up in this episode like how we all assumed in “Is Another Mystery” and that they’re still together. Probably not the best idea. There might be a reason Star wanted to avoid the situation, Tom said he knows the Starco kiss “meant nothing”, but she knows it meant something! Star and Marco are aware that their feelings for each other are more than just platonic from “Booth Buddies” and it was evidenced in “Divide”, but only towards each other, except they don’t know what to do about it now cuz she’s still with Tom. Guess Tom doesn’t know about that! And she’s afraid of hurting Tom again. Star needs to decide once and for all. Who does she love more? Sure she’s known Tom longer and that they have a history together and no people, he was not “the rebound guy” like we all thought, Star actually did fall back in love with him when he saw the errors of his ways and changed. However, Star wasn’t too invested in their relationship due to her busyness with her Monster and Mewman job and other important things that Tom never cared about at first. With Marco, she’s lived with him for over a year, went through many adventures together and had their souls bonded! (You’ll hear more about this in my “Curse of the Blood Moon” review) and she’s always stuck by him more than Tom. Judging by that, I’d say she’s more “Marco minded”. This whole thing is still up in the air cuz of that “rescue romance” distraction and it’ll come to bite them in the a** later (much like what that tiny flame demon did to Star in the kitchen) from the anticipated episode we all know where it’ll be brought up again and it’s the biggest closure we’re all dying to find out. Let’s hope it’s a good one. Team Starco!

SVTFOE kinda suffers from filler side characters. If I recall, there was none in Season 1 but the sides provided their part to the plot like the Pixie Empress. Starting w/Season 2, it’s noticeable. Lydia/Willoughby, Brigid, Roy, Meat Fork, Emilio, Preston, Baby, Ruberiot/Foolduke?, Lavabo, Seahorse Guy, Higgs, Jelly Goodwell, Princess Arms, Rich Pigeon, Talon Raventon, Eddie from “Bogbeast”, Sean?, Cobalt Ferrero, Ben Fotino?. There are a lot but you’ll get it. I hated Jelly Goodwell in Starfari

Tbh, I’m not against breather episodes (as long as they’re not too many) and “filler” side characters, not every character has to be vital to the plot. But I know what you mean. I hated Jelly too, to be fair she was meant to be hated, haha
