Fuck Disney.

That’s it that’s the post.

Very much fuck disney.

They canceled The Owl House.

They hardly advertised Amphibia and did nothing to stop the True Colors leaks.

They wouldn’t allow Alex Hirsch to put queer characters in Gravity Falls until the last episode, and even then it was speculative.

They wouldn’t let Daron Nefcy give queer characters speaking lines in SVTFOE unless it was their last appearance, and even then they were side characters - one of them had like three words as lines.

And still, they put The Owl House in their pride section, they put Amphibia in their pride section, they put Gravity Falls and SVTFOE in their “pride” section because acknowledging our existence is “being an ally”. Yes, it really is being a good ally when you don’t even put a non-binary character’s proper pronouns in the subtitles. It really is being a good ally when you don’t even know the ship name of the most progressive queer ship in the history of disney. It really is being a good ally when you put three colors in a heart and proclaim that “representation”.

It isn’t.

Fuck disney. Put that in your tags. Fuck disney.

Maturing is realizing that the Star Vs. The Forces of Evil writers treated Tom like utter shit and he deserved SO much better. Not only did Star herself treat Tom like shit WHEN they were dating, but the way the show bended over backwards for Starco to the point that they ruined everything and were willing to destroy characters around them was sad. Tom went from a guy you could laugh at or legit hate for how toxic and obsessive he was, to a character I genuinely loved to watch and cared about. I will never make the argument that Star should have bowed down to him or anything, but what I like about his character is that he actually changed. He put the effort in to improve himself, and started to respect Star more and more. I also liked how we saw him struggle, he wasn’t used to these things but he pushed though and became a better person.

Then it all had to fucking fall downhill after Star and Tom got back together again in season 3. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll defend Tomstar for my life because they had the perfect chemistry and a more intriguing relationship since Tom actually learned from his mistakes and changed, BUT it was the way the show treated him once they dated. Once they dated everyone and their mama who watched this show KNOWS that the obvious pinning and banter for Starco started to happen. The show would slowly start to push Tom to back and not include him, while introducing the idea that Marco is jealous of Tom secretly and is starting to fall for Star. Literally while the characters were dating, Star and Marco started to have more Uwu moments and no matter how many times Star said “I have a boyfriend”, it was her in the end who treated Tom like garbage. If you also watched the show you’ll know that a lot of people starting to really not like Star because her character basically turned into a HUGE annoying and hypocritical brat, and yeah, she did.

I think the scene that signifies just how bad she treated Tom was where he admitted to her that he knew she kissed Marco and SHE had the nerve to be mad at HIM, painting him out to be the bad guy and then storming off. And yes, I get that Marco is the one who kissed her and it took her by surprise, but the fact that she had the nerve to get pissed at him for not telling her is just….WOW. The same thing happened at a ball party, where Tom for once gave her space and let her do her own thing, and Star acted like a brat and got mad at him for not paying attention to her. And even at the end, Tom never put it against Star or Marco that they kissed when he was dating her, or even all the obvious banter they had. He was never mad at them because that’s how good of a guy he became. And the show just bullshitted him, made him break up with Star for absolutely no reason that would make sense within his character, just so Starco could happen. It was so clear that the writers did not give a shit about Tom and it legit hurts. They massacred my boy and did him dirty.

The Star vs. The Forces of Evil pilot was found!!! I’m so ecstatic and have so much to say:

I love Daron Nefcy’s animation style!!! I wonder she was ever a newgrounds animator? If not she would have fit right in.

It seems some of the animations done of troll Skulnick that appeared in the show were originally done for the pilot!

Marco’s pilot name is “Sol” which literally means “sun” in spanish… making him and our protagonist “Sun” and “Star” :,) Cute!

Speaking of the name Sol… They’re ship name would have probably been “Solar” …Cool!

Marco’s (Sol’s) rudeness is turned WAYYY up compared to the final show. I find his characterization interesting here and almost wish it stuck into the show we know now.

I think it’s interesting Jackie’s design underwent 0 changes into the show, but that’s fine as I still find her design to be perfect.

Star’s clothing style is quite different. My assumption is that the concept & pilot Star’s style is more reflective of Daron’s personal tastes in fashion, and her clothing’s changes going into the show were to match with her character more.

Seeing Star’s magic portrayed with only stock effects, as well as the lack of background music during the fight scene, were both incredibly jarring to me despite being standard pilot stuff.

I think that’s all I have say, maybe I’ll had more later. This is very exciting to me!

ATTENTION STAR VS THE FORCES OF EVIL FANS!

I need YOUR help!

(Yes yours! I found a funny screenshot to get your attention and everything, see?!)

I'm putting together something about a certain character from the show while I work on the rewrite (with my good buddy @full-moon-phoenix who I'm sorry to tag-n-drag into this), and I need your help getting to the bottom of a mystery that might just help us all make sense of why the last season of the show was... you know... like that.

According to this bullet point from SVTFOE's What Could Have Been page on TV Tropes, the Season 3 finale was originally planned by Daron Nefcy and the team to be the series finale before the finale season was even green lit!

However--as you may notice when checking the page yourself--unlike some of the other details on the page, this one had no citation or link to trace back to the original interview for evidence. (Typical TV Tropes.)

I'm going to try and find the interview myself but with all the things I have to juggle, and search engines being as crappy as they are now, there's no guarantee I'll actually find the damn thing.
