a/n: omg- I didn’t actually expect anyone to send in an ask I was just reblogging to write about my tav in my own time 😭😭 but I’ll gladly answer!! I have a few Tavs, so I’ll choose my most detailed and developed one. I have thought way too much about this Tav so this is gonna be a LONG post. tysm for sending an ask this was so fun to write!

What’s your Tav’s origin story?

Emilia Westwood is a half wood-elf golden draconic sorcerer born to a noble family in the northern city of Neverwinter. Though considered low nobility, the Westwoods have been respected and well connected amongst both Neverwinter and Waterdeep’s social elite for generations.

However, the recent generation of Westwoods have seen their social standing and influence placed in jeopardy, as rumors begin to spread that the magic of her family’s bloodline is tarnished and dwindling.

Her father was the only child in his family to inherit the Westwood’s draconic magic and his powers were mediocre at best. Similarly, her eldest brother was born with very little sorcery ability, while her second elder brother, though moderately powerful, was born deaf and blind- thus cannot effectively use his gifts nor properly engage with noble society.

Unlike her siblings, Emilia demonstrated a very strong gift for sorcery and plenty of social grace. Subsequently, she has been groomed for marriage by her parents since youth in hopes that she may one day marry a powerful sorcerer and “restore the family bloodline.”

On her thirteenth birthday she overheard her parents talking to a family friend, informally promising her hand to their son in a decades time.

Following this event, she was enrolled into an elite all girls academy and finishing school for spell casters in Waterdeep, notorious for their rigorous curriculum, racial exclusion, sexist ideology and elitist attitude. The school boasts many successful and powerful alumni, however and is considered a terrible but “efficient” system.

After a grueling years nine and a half years, she graduated at twenty two years old. Her parents sent two escorts to accompany her to Baldur’s Gate, where she would “celebrate her graduation” with them and their aforementioned family friends. In reality, her soon-to-be fiancé was going to, as tradition demands, formally ask for her father’s blessing for his daughter’s hand and then propose to her. Mere minutes after she arrived in the city, however, she was abducted by mindflayers… and that’s where her story truly begins!

What is your tav’s favorite type of environment? Like in a tavern, a library, out in the wilderness, underground, etc.

Emilia is a half wood-elf, so she has an inherit affection for nature within her. However, she grew up in the city and tends to feel isolated when deep in the wilds.

A city park or botanical garden is the perfect compromise for her- surrounded by nature but still within reach of civilization, not to mention both are prim and proper which agrees with the spiffy noble inside her. She really just loves Neverwinter in general, as the city is known for their gardens and lush greenery, thanks to the year-round warm weather.

Emilia also really likes the ocean. Neverwinter is on a warm coast, so she spent many of her childhood days swimming and reading on the beach.
