On this date in 1999: Gerlado aka “George from Canada” Sciasia was killed in NY. Gerlando "George from Canada" Sciascia (February 15, 1934 – March 18, 1999), was a New York City mobster, and a caporegime of the Bonanno crime family, who was also the Rizzuto’s representative from New York, and was a major narcotics trafficker in Canada, and the United States. Sciascia was born in Cattolica Eraclea in the province of Agrigento, Sicily, the same area as Montreal Mafia boss Vito Rizzuto. In 1955, Sciascia immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, later moving to the United States, to New York City three years later in 1958. In the 1990s, relations between Massino (Boss of the Bonanno Family) and Sciascia had started to sour. Scascia was becoming more independent of Massino and more aligned with Vito Rizzuto. Growing richer and stronger, Rizzuto became less willing to defer all decisions to the Bonannos. In early 1999, at a wedding anniversary party, Massino gave the following message to Salvatore Vitale: "George has got to go, it’s time to send him a receipt” The plan was for fellow capo Patrick DeFilippo to invite Sciascia to a meeting to resolve an ongoing disagreement with Graziano over a marijuana racket. Massino wanted the Sciascia murder to look like a drug deal gone wrong to avoid friction with the Rizzutos. On March 18, 1999, Sciascia received a note at his jewelry store telling him to meet DeFilippo at a location in Manhattan. There, DeFilippo told Sciascia that they were driving to a different location and the two men were picked up by mobster John Spirito. As Spirito drove the vehicle, DeFilippo shot Sciascia to death with seven bullets. The gunmen then drove to a deserted Bronx street, where they dumped Sciascia's body. #gerlandosciascia #georgefromcanada #joemassino #salvitale #bonannofamily #bonannos #bonannocrimefamily #vitorizzuto #montrealfamily #rizzutofamily #6thfamily #pattydefilippo #pattyfromthebronx #genegotti #heroin #cattolica #cattolicaeraclea #mafia #ny #straightenedout #truecrime #badblood #organizedcrime #montreal #mafia #5families (at Scottsdale, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp73NBJrtlH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Anthony Zottola Biography                                    Anthony Zottola Wiki
The son of murdered New York mob associate Sylvester "Sally Daz" Zottola was convicted on Wednesday of murdering his father and attempting to assault his brother.
A federal jury in Brooklyn has returned guilty verdicts for Anthony Zottola and one of his co-defendants di Lui, gunman Himen Ross, in the 2018 murder in a McDonald's alley in the Bronx. A third co-defendant, accused getaway driver Alfred Lopez, was cleared of all charges. Prosecutors for the Eastern District of New York uncovered, in a trial lasting more than a month, a detailed conspiracy between Anthony and Bloods gang leader Bushawn Shelton to carry out a series of attacks on his father and his brother di Lui, Salvatore Zotola. Anthony Zottola convicted of plotting mob-associate dad's murder https://t.co/TPU34dfOIt pic.twitter.com/ukspGOj8LO — New York Post (@nypost) October 19, 2022 In more than 1,000 text messages entered into evidence by prosecutors, Anthony and Shelton – who pleaded guilty before trial – spoke in coded form about the attempted murders. Under orders from Anthony to kill his father, Shelton hired Ross and Lopez to complete the job after another hitman tried - and failed - to take out Sylvester and Salvatore at least six times, accused the prosecutors. In the minutes after Ross managed to shoot Sylvester at a McDonald's drive-thru in the Bronx on Oct. 4, 2018, Anthony joked about the murder in a series of texts to Shelton, the prosecutors charged in their opening statement. "Can we celebrate today or tomorrow," Shelton wrote to young Zottola after the hit. "Tomorrow. It's my little man's birthday. I'm taking him to his favorite place McDonald's. Then to the movies. LOL like I'm eating that stuff," Anthony replied. The Bloods member replied that the day was like "Anthony's birthday," Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon Lash said. Anthony allegedly ordered the coup to take over his father's $45 million real estate empire in the county, prosecutors charged. To prove the conspiracy, prosecutors called a parade of witnesses during the case, including Salvatore, who testified under immunity, and a cooperating witness, who told the jury he was hired by Shelton to investigate plots against Anthony's brother and father to be executed.
Witness
On the witness stand, hired gunman Ron Cabey described at least six failed attempts to bring down Salvatore and Sylvester, a suspected ally of the Bonanno and Lucchese crime families. In an attempt, Cabey approached Sylvester on the street near one of the aging gangster's properties in the Bronx and fled after the real estate boss pulled out a gun and shot him. Cabey was arrested later that day at a Manhattan taxi depot after getting out of a car he was in that was being chased by NYPD officers. Anthony's lawyers have sought to portray the elder Zottola as a Bronx underworld figure who could have been shot for his ties to organized crime. In his closing argument, Anthony's attorney, Henry Mazurek, told jurors the stunt could have been the work of Bronx Albanian mobsters trying to claim a piece of the illegal slot machine racket that Sylvester ran. "Sylvester Zottola knew all his life that one day he could come home and sleep," Mazurek told jurors, adding that other mobsters saw an opportunity to make money playing with the angled bat. "The thugs smell the money and go after it," he said. Read the full article

Louis "Louie HaHa" Attanasio Jr. (born 1944) is an American mobster and reputed captain in the Bonanno crime family. He is the brother of Bonanno mobster Robert Attanasio. Attanasio earned the nickname "HaHa" because he laughed whenever he killed a man. In April 1984, Attanasio participated in the murder of Bonanno soldier Cesare Bonventre. Bonanno leaders Philip Rastelli and Joseph Massino had ordered Bonventre's murder because they felt he was a threat to their power. On the day of the murder, Attanasio and Bonanno mobster Salvatore Vitale picked up Bonventre to bring him to a meeting with Rastelli. As Vitale drove into a garage, Attanasio shot Bonventre twice in the head. Surprisingly, Bonventre still struggled, forcing the two hitmen to stop the car. Bonventre crawled out of the car onto the concrete before Attanasio finished him off with two more shots. Bonventre's body was hacked to pieces and dumped into three 55-gallon glue drums in a Garfield, New Jersey warehouse. #louiehaha #haha #cesarebonventre #zips #zip #bonanno #bonannofamily #bonannocrimefamily #joemassino #salvitale #rustyrastelli #donniebrasco #murder #truecrime #truecrimecommunity #mafia #straightenedout #newyork #nypd #ny (at Scottsdale, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZLnkVRL5Jd/?utm_medium=tumblr

John "Porky" Zancocchio (born 1958) is a New York mobster and former Consigliere with the Bonanno crime family who is a loanshark and a bookmaker. One of Zancocchio's gaming clients was U.S Major League Baseball player Pete Rose. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Zancocchio started working under Bonanno caporegime Dominick Napolitano in the early 1970s. After Napolitano's killing as a result of the Donnie Brasco scandal, Zancocchio worked for capo Anthony Graziano. During the 1980s, Zancocchio married Graziano's daughter Lana, making him brother-in-law to Bonanno mobsters Christian Ludwigsen and Hector Pagan. Over time, Zancocchio built a major bookmaking operation that grossed $280 million a year at its high point. His operation served many influential and wealthy gamblers, including Pete Rose. Zancocchio also opened a Brooklyn pizzeria called "Mama Rosa's", which he leased to his mother. However, Zancocchio's financial dealings with the restaurant resulted in his first prosecution for income tax evasion. Zancocchio pleaded guilty and was fined $100,000 and sentenced to one year in prison. His mother Rose was also indicted at this time. In February 2018, he went back to prison. He was held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, New York on racketeering charges. Zancocchio was released from prison on July 31, 2018, and was acquitted of racketeering and conspiracy charges on March 13, 2019. At the time, he was a resident of Staten Island. #porkyzancocchio #bonannofamily #bonanno #bonannocrimefamily #consigliere #peterose #mlb #charliehustle #baseball #mafia #loanshark #bookmaking #sportsbetting #gambling #mafiaboss #mafiainthemorning #truecrime #truecrimecommunity #gangster #dominicnapolitano #sonnyblack #anthonygraziano #5families #nypd #straightenedout (at Scottsdale, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUQ37yWPM6U/?utm_medium=tumblr
