You’re gloriously intractable.” #bookishquote #lilymorton - - I absolutely loved Lily Morton’s new book Milo. Her books are laugh out loud funny, and she is for sure on my auto buy list. Her series Mixed Messages is where I started and then I absolutely devoured her backlist. Finding Home began late last year and Milo is book 2 in this series. While you could read it as a standalone, the series is much better if you’re passionate, like me, about the secondary character. Milo beautifully explored themes of partner violence and also overcoming your fears and finding that one person who just fits you and who you are. Super romantic, funny and left me thinking for days. Bookish review! Heated Rivalry was a great follow up to book one of the Game Changers series. Told in 4 parts over a ten year period this was a long, slow burn. The author explains that watching a documentary 24/7 provided a spark of inspiration for the book. I must say, this definitely felt realistic as a result, but she does mention it is not based on any real life people. As a hockey fan fic fan, I kinda liked this more as a result I think! The book certainly had a different feel from book one and I was completely engrossed. If did have a bit of an issue, it was with how their romance developed. At times it felt quite combatative initially and while I do enjoy a love/hate relationship the love felt a little one sided at times. However, this didn’t degract from my overall enjoyment of the novel and I cannot wait to read more, definitely an author to pick up if you’re a sports romance fan. I liked this lots! I absolutely loved this! Elle Kennedy is one of my all time favourite authors and in this second book in the Briar U series she does not disappoint. This is kind of an enemies to lovers trope, and I just adored Jake and Brenna. Her characters are so accessible and the characters friendships had lovely depth. The tension was super hot and I am so looking forward to more. Such excellent writing and an auto buy author for me. - - I would totally recommend you pick up the first book in the series, The Chase, it was also an excellent read. AND totally check out her backlist, they are all on my keeper shelves.
