SO i just had an idea and my few newfound follower count has got to tell me if this is good. so get this. (big warning for expand btw, like sorry)

there's a warrior clan in a cave setting ok. they are tigers. they have bioluminescent green pools inside and it's really cool like there's green glowy stuff everywhere. mostly algae but also glowworms and some other fungi.

basically the clan lives in a cave network and the main camp doesn't have any ponds for kit safety. HOWEVER all the clan's territory is confined to the cave network and all the hunting ground is littered with the bioluminescent pools. this is because in the caves, there's less land prey, so the clan has adapted to hunt fish and other animals in the pools (pending more research on animals that would reside there). this also fits because tigers are known to swim for hunting and also just for fun.

there are other clans--thinking a rainforest clan, a plains clan, and like... a treetop clan where their camp is in the actual trees [skyclan wishes they were them] and main clan only shares a border with rainforest and treetops. i think it would be set in thailand somewhere, broadleaf forests or rainforest

name ideas for all the diff clans welcome including the main one, here's what i have so far

algaeclan: would have to be changed once the bio came

glowclan: same as above

caveclan: bit basic? i like the alliteration tho

brightclan: ironic name until bio lol

darkclan: makes sense until bio

now that the logistics are over, time for story!

The bioluminescence in the pools is NEW. like the story prologue is when it begins and the first chapter is like a year or so in. before, they were just normal ass cave pools. obviously everyone's like wtf

cause this clan is not that new. it's at least gone through like 3 leads and a few founders lived in the caves before official clans were formed. so this has never been seen before in at least like 15 years.

so! everyone avoids the pools for a while and tries to hunt miscellaneous mice and spiders (temporary spiders georg clan) but it's not enough to feed the whole clan, it's just scraps. so the clan has to concede and start hunting from the pools.

the most proficient hunters, who dive the most, started feeling strange things. one day, about a half-moon after the clan started hunting pools again, Hawkwasp, one of the best hunters in the clan, didn't come back up from a dive.

The clan was really worried. the best hunters in the clan can hold their breath for 100 seconds at most, so dives are usually quite short. However, Hawkwasp was already down in the water for 10 minutes. no tiger can hold their breath that long, no matter how good a hunter they are.

after an hour had passed, another reputable hunter of the clan (Shineprance) dove to find Hawk despite her clanmates' protests. After around 30 seconds, Shine found Hawk--fully conscious and still hunting the pool. obviously she was relieved, but also confused. what could possibly allow Hawk to spend that much time underwater?

Through pawspeak (which everyone is taught from apprenticeship to both accommodate deaf clanmates and to speak underwater) Shine asked Hawk where he'd been. Hawk asked what she meant. after explaining that she'd been looking for her, Hawk questioned.. "how long have i been underwater?"

After bringing Hawk back to the surface, he confirms that she thought she'd only been down for a minute or so. after it was explained, he was greatly shocked and vowed to never dive again. she has only hunted spiders for the clan ever since.

Over the coming moons, more and more of the clan's best hunters stayed underwater much, much longer than usual. the longest run was around 5 hours. it is quickly realized that something about the bioluminescent algae and plants gave tigers the ability to breathe underwater. The tigers affected, only 5 warriors including Hawk, began to form subtle green gills around the neck/shoulder area. their paws, claws and muzzle areas started to taint green. Some reported pain in the upper stomach.

Despite these concerning effects, the leader and deputy went over the head of both the clan's nurses and encouraged the continuation of using the newfound power. the clan had fallen on tough times before, and they wren't going to prevent hunting from the pools again if it meant they went back to that.

slowly, growths start forming on the tigers affected. algae and moss for one, mushrooms for others, and glowworms for one. Hawkwasp is the only one with spiders. all the affected tigers' eyes turn slightly more green with each passing day.

Before the bioluminescence, the clan relied on small skylights for light from the sun and moon, but now that it's here the skylights have gradually started closing up. no one knows if the entrances, or more importantly exits to the caves will be next.

the affected have started acting.. strange. not like themselves. They've started disappearing into the pools for far longer than when it first started. it began with hours, but they're turning into days. the affected have no sense of time down there. the leader and deputy have instructed no one to go after them--they wouldn't want to obstruct their hunting.

The nurses of the clan attempt to recommend that each tiger dives with at least one other tiger, but the deputy and leader have overrided that and anyone except apprentices may dive alone.

Hawkwasp has not dove since the first incident. However, he still experiences the same symptoms as the other affecteds. It seems that as long as they still dive, every affected tiger will continue to undergo the symptoms. Hawkwasp has grown increasingly aloof, only communicating with clanmates when necessary. Most of the time, she can be found wandering the caves, skirting pools carefully and chasing the spiders that are not already scattered across her pelt.

No one knows what the affected tigers do down there, in the pools. some tigers think they're just hunting. some think they're encountering creatures of the deep. some think they're exploring their new home.

So there are these two Clans, BrightClan ( Inklings ) and DownClan ( Octarians ) There leaders are EelStar and RedStar. So like, all the humans are dead, so nature takes over, and the water levels rise drastically. The clans are forced to find higher land, and end up living on a Mountain / High Plateu. Only problem is, there’s not a lot of land, and these clans can’t share, so they have a great ‘ Turf War ‘ over the territory, but it’s much different than the turf wars in the clan today, Each Clan wears one color, BrightClan was Blue, DownClan was Red, they smear the color onto there fur with berries and flowers. A full fledged attack began, and BrightClan won, DownClan was forced to retreat to some were, we will get back to them later. 

After the battle, EelStar proclaims never again will turf war be used in a violent way, and makes turf wars used for training and for fun, to honor the fallen.  The leadership after EelStar became a Family line, the first born kit of The leader would be next leader. The clan adapted and changed, with new roles, training, and the clan thrived. Now I’ll go through the roles.

Leader- Head power of the clan, all descended from EelStar.

Reporters- Deputies of the clans, They announce what Turf arenas can be used that day, and are almost like the ‘ Cheerleaders ‘ of the clan, also double as judges. 

Turf Warriors- The cats who battle in turf wars, and train young cats to battle. 

Turfer-To-be- Cats who are training to be a Turf Warrior, to become a warrior, the cat must lead a turf war, and successfully win. 

Elders,Queens and Kits are the same. 

How Turf war works. The cats separate into two teams of four, with all the scraps left by the humans, they have fabricated there own weapons, a Special glove, on when you step on it correctly, a tube connected to it will push the color out of a container, and out of a tail peice or leg peice that shoots out the ink ( I’ll make a drawing to explain it better ) the teams must cover the area with there color before time runs out, the team with the most color wins. You can get out by cheating, or getting with the other teams color, in which you must walk out of the area, and back to your starting point, and Wait for the judge to give you the signal to go back in. That’s a beginning to a rather large Au, but with the SillyName Au, I think this looks small lol. Feel free to ask any questions!!

if it hasnt been asked already could i ask about the unique ranks in the clans 0: ? like gardener and shadow seeker!!! they sound so cool and unique

iirc i’ve answered some individual questions about the ranks but nothing altogether!

seers are chosen by the oracle and predict things such as weather and sickness. occasionally they’re given important prophecies by the oracle! they’re basically medicine cats without the medicine. though seer is the general term for them, they have a different, specific name in each clan – brightclan’s shadow searchers, springclan’s flower keepers, iceclan’s snow seekers, and fallclan’s leaf readers!

the council is a selection of cats who help the leader make decisions. they’re well respected in the clan. by default the leader, deputy, seer, and elders are in the council, and then trusted cats in other ranks are chosen, which is considered to be a high honour! council members are also responsible - if available - for training junior apprentices.

healers are like medicine cats, but without the spiritual stuff! in seasons, they’re more common, as they’re a role any apprentice can choose if they’re interested. there’s usually not many per clan, however - not many cats want to “stay cooped up in a den with stuffy herbs all day!” unlike medicine cats, healers are free to take mates and have families.

nursery helpers are like the books permanent queens, tho they don’t have to be a queen to be a nursery helper! i’m thinking of renaming the role since it’s a bit wordy rn so i’ll edit this post if i do 

       edit: renamed to caretakers!

since there are so many new ranks, apprentices now have a 2 moon time period where they’re known as junior apprentices. during this period they’ll go to classes for each rank (healer, caretaker, warrior, and the clan-specific role) to help them discover what they want to do!

clan specific-ranks 

gardeners tend to springclan’s forest. they make sure there are no wilting or dead flowers, to keep bad spirits away.

brightclan’s runners are responsible for running messages around the camp and territories. if a skirmish occurs during a border patrol, or there’s any danger, a runner will go back to camp to get help! they’re also skilled hunters. 

the farmers of fallclan are pretty much what you’d expect! they farm! they grow plants and crops for prey animals around the territory to eat, and as a result, prey is never too scarce. they also grow herbs for the healers!

iceclan’s storytellers keep the mood light in the frozen land. they not only tell fictional stories passed down, they’re also responsible for cataloging the history of the clans! every time a moon passes, a storyteller will make a mark at the gathering place, keeping track of time in a land where the seasons never change.

Lilacflight- Deputy of Brightclan. Smart but sassy, very quock to anger. Her mates usually have to reign her in when she fights.

Moonspirit- Warrior but is like a second deputy. Calm, patient, and logical, he's good at comforting and making good plans

Orchidpetal- Has her momma's leadership skills and her dad's smarts. Asks a lot of questions.

Vesperwing- Vesper means "evening star". Has her parent's mixed smarts but her mother's ambition and snark

Sparkfire- Just a feisty happy boy! He looks the most like his momma, and gets her friendliness and optimism

This was a very spontaneous idea, basically I woke up one day (today) and my brain went hmmmm WC x BR is what this world needs.

Anyway I'm 0xy [@oxymono] (she/they) and this blog is basically me fighting my art block demons. I don't know how often I'll be updating, we'll see. What does a runner do?

a runner is brightclan’s special rank! their job is to run messages around the camp and the territory. there’s at least one runner on every border patrol, and if a skirmish occurs or the patrol runs into a bear or other dangerous creature, it’s the runners job to get back to camp and let everyone know. they’re also trained in hunting, and they’re especially good at catching fast prey like rabbits!

absolutely i can, and thank you so much!! (for the compliment and for asking!) dandysol info comin right up under the cut!

dandysol is the leader of springclan. she succeeded her mother, violetsol, who died in a skirmish shortly after the birth of dandysol’s younger sister, hollypaw. 

dandysol is just all around a sweet and lovely cat. she cares deeply for each and every one of her clan members, and she treats them like they’re all part of her family. as a result, she’s extremely informal with them, but springclan doesn’t mind! their camp is a fully good vibes zone. her favourite thing to do is organize play sessions with the kits in the nursery, to give their parents time to rest or go for a walk around the territories! 

she’s extremely tall and lanky, and has been said to be the most beautiful cat in all the clans, though she’d blush and hide if anyone said it to her face. she’s a bit of a pushover, and has difficulty being assertive. she’d let another clan walk all over her territory, if they wanted to.

she’s closest with her sister, hollypaw (hollyhock), who she pretty much raised. hollypaw likes to tease her about her completely obvious blatant crush on the brightclan leader, cherrysol, and tries to convince her to get out there and confess her feelings, but dandysol never does, always worried cherrysol won’t return her affections and it’ll ruin their friendship (even if cherrysol is so obviously in love with her!!)

she’s trans and a lesbian and just a sweet cat all around!
