Why so shy?
Jessie Fleming x Reader
summary~ Crushing on someone was a whole lot to deal with, especially when your crush is your teammate and your other teammates are all on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You grew up supporting the red side of London. Your father and his father had supporter Arsenal so it was logical for you to be a gooner at heart too. That was until you got scouted by Chelsea.
You didn’t really have to hide that you were an Arsenal fan, you just didn’t bring it up, ever. Your dad and grandpa had already found a solution, supporting Arsenal’s mens team and Chelsea’s women’s. It wasn’t ideal, you knew that but they’ll support you everywhere you’d go.
And even though they did support you in a blue kit, they’d never wear a blue shirt themselves. Whenever they would go and watch your Chelsea games they were dressed in a neutral shirt, your England shirt.
When you got into the blue academy you were a bit shy. You weren’t scared or anything, it was just all new, you didn’t know anyone and well, kids are scary.
But there was Aggie. A blue through and through. She was extroverted, funny and outgoing. Aggie helped you get into the Chelsea spirits and loved to tease you.
Aggie was meant to be Chelsea’s stargirl, you weren’t but somehow you became one alongside your best friend. You were the young blues, the future lays in your hands.
A few months in Beever-Jones found out you were a die hard Arsenal fan and couldn’t stop pestering you about it. You begged her to keep it under wraps, nobody needed to know you pleaded. She wasn’t really about to let it go until you threatened to call her by her real name, Agnes.
So the both of you kept your mouths shut. A good deal for the both of you.
Aggie made her debut when she was just eighteen years old. You were sat in the stands but you might’ve been more nervous and excited for her than she was herself. Aggie kept her cool, she always did but you were stressing away. Your nails had been bitten away by the moment she got subbed in.
After the final whistle had been blown you ran towards her, a bright smile appearing on her face. “You did it Beever!” you cheered jumping into her open arms.
“You’re acting like i scored the winning goal in the Champions League mousey.” Aggie laughed.
“Well, i feel like you just did.” you reacted offended.
Jessie had been part of the senior squad before Aggie and you even got to train with the first team. You were a fan of the midfielder, even thought you would never confess it. You weren’t only a fan of her game but also her beauty. She is very pretty.
Aggie fit right in. She walked into the training ground with you behind her and made some small talk. Erin, Niamh and Aggie seemed like the best of friends. You were used to be by her side at all times and especially now it didn’t help she wasn’t.
Jessie walked over towards you and introduced herself. “Hi i’m Jessie.” she smiled. Jessie Fleming was talking to you and you might melt away.
“Hey- hi i’m mouse, well you know, it’s not my real name but they call me mousey- well you can call me whatever..” you mumbled the last part. God you made a fool of yourself.
Jessie laughed at your rambling and placed her hand on your shoulder. “I know your name mousey.” she smiled.
Jessie Fleming knew your name, your year was made.
“I know who you are too.” you said. Okay that sounded creepy, like stalker creepy. “I- i didn’t mean it like that, not in a weird creepy way. I just know who you are, ‘cus we both play for Chelsea you know?” you tried to recover.
The Canadian only laughed harder at that. “I know what you mean mousey.” she grinned.
And before you could make an even bigger fool of yourself you were stolen away by Aggie. “What were you just doing mouse?” she asked with fake curiosity.
“I was talking to Jessie and i don’t know, it went wrong i think?” you sighed, disappointment shown on your face. You had one job, act normal.
“Yeah well i definitely saw that. Maybe someone’s got a little crush huh?” Aggie winked.
“Ag- Aggie, i don’t have a fucking crush on my teammate.” your brows furrowed.
Your bestfriend backed off. “Okay okay whatever you say mousey.” she shrugged.
Two months in it only got worse. Aggie had forced you to go out with the girls, ‘‘cus that’s what winning teams do’. You never really were a party animal and still aren’t but you’d try your best.
Millie Bright had taken it upon herself to get you a little looser and by that she meant drunk. You were drunk after only a few drinks. You might’ve been embarrassed at how fast you got drunk if you weren’t wasted already.
Getting up from your seat at the bar you made your way to the dance floor, where most of your teammates were located. Aggie was cheering you on as you walked towards her with an excessive swing in your hips.
“Look out everyone, drunk mousey is on the dance floor!” she warned the girls.
Jessie looked up from where she was sat to take a look herself. You were doing all kinds of dances and somehow your very stiff robot was your best.
“What is she doing?” the Canadian asked her Swedish goalkeeper.
Zećira shrugged. “I don’t know, i think she’s trying to dance?” she laughed.
Jessie hummed to herself. She hadn’t seen you like this, ever. The midfielder hadn’t expected you to be such a party animal. You were really shy whenever you talked to her and she never really saw you as an extroverted type.
Jessie had her eyes fixated on you and when an unknown girl came walking towards you her eyebrows furrowed. The girl slipped behind you and began to dance with you. It disturbed her. Why was that girl touching you and why weren’t you telling her off.
“Didn’t know she was such a party girl..” Jessie scoffed.
The goalkeeper looked up from her phone and took a look at you on the dance floor and back at a slightly angry Jessie. “You jealous Fleming?” Zećira asked with a smug grin on her face.
“I’m not jealous, that girl just shouldn’t be touching her. Plus we’ve got training tomorrow.” Jessie answered, her eyes still on you.
The girl behind you was getting more handsy by the second and Jessie wasn’t having it. “And so what if i am?” the older girl grumbled under her breath.
“Then you should do something about it don’t you think grumpy?” Zećira told her.
Jessie took her advice and speed walked towards the heated dance floor. She was pushing through some of her teammates and finally made it towards you.. and that girl.
“She’s not really interested.” Jessie deadpanned.
The girl looked towards you but you just stood still, your cheeks getting even redder than they were before. Jessie was staring her down and she eventually left.
“I think you’re done for tonight mousey. I’ll get you home.” the brunette told you.
It wasn’t like you could argue with her, especially not in your state. You were way too scared to let any words out, in fear that you would say something embarrassing. Nodding your head she escorted you through the crowd and into her car.
“You’re gonna sit there while i’ll say goodbye to everyone.” she ordered you, pointing to her passenger seat. You looked at her with glossy eyes.
“Got it? Don’t do anything stupid please.” you nodded your head and she walked back to the bar.
You weren’t planning on doing anything stupid. It was just that her car horn looked so cool. You couldn’t just sit there and wait until she was back without pushing that button. So you got into her car seat and pushed the button.
You just didn’t expect her to be back so soon. Jessie opened the car door and looked at you. “What did i say mousey!” she grumbled.
“I’m sorry Jessie, i didn’t mean to it just looked so fun.” you pouted at her. She couldn’t be that mad at you right?
Jessie started the car and drove to her apartment. “Where are you taking me to Jessie?” you asked, your eyelids getting heavy.
“I’m driving us to my apartment so i can look after you. Hopefully you won’t do anything stupid this time.” she whispered the last part.
“Jessie jessie you are just like a little bear sometimes. You’re very sweet and soft an- I really like teddy bears so i really like you.” you rambled.
Jessie was intrigued. “Oh yeah? Tell me more, why do you like me mousey?” she asked curiously.
“You’re so nice to me and when you came up to me you were so sexy. You’re so beautiful and stunning and fit.” Jessie was enjoying this way too much. A smirk was appearing on her freckled face.
Jessie parked her black Mercedes. “Hmm, you’re cute.” she hummed.
“You really think so Jessiebear?” you mumbled.
“I really think so mousey.” Jessie said softly before carrying you inside.

Secret relationship steddie getting through vecna without suspicions from the others until steve hasn’t left eddie’s bedside for a week and he somehow knows wayne munson's phone number from memory and even gets a hug from the man when he enters the room. And he gets to stay when the others are kicked out.
It’s only when eddie wakes up that everything comes out.
He cracks open his eyes, meeting the gazes of dustin, wayne, and robin, but no steve.
“Where’s my baby?” he murmurs, and from the outside it sounds like “where mah beebee.” He watches the faces in front of him turn into something of confusion. “My baby, my baby. I want him.” It comes out clearer, and unfortunately for them wayne understands immediately and unknowingly outs them. “Steve’s off gettin’ some food, he’ll be back in just a minute,” Wayne pats eddie’s hand gently, watching as the kid smiles, eyes drooping once again.
Dustin and robin share a look but they choose to ignore it, maybe wayne heard wrong or eddie is just on too many painkillers.
Until steve walks in, seeing eddie’s eyes, tired, but open. He drops the coffee he’d brought back for wayne and bolts to eddie’s side.
Eddie raises a hand and cups steve’s face, “hey baby.” and for the first time, dustin and robin see steve harrington cry. “I told you-” he pauses to sniffle, “I told you not to be a hero,” his voice cracks, holding back tears. Eddie grabs his hand “‘M still here, baby.” and the dam breaks. Steve is sobbing into eddies chest, while the metalhead runs a weak hand through his hair.
Wayne would deny it with all his heart if anyone asked, but he shed a tear at the display in front of him, he wasn’t sure about steve harrington the first time eddie brought him home, but damn, the kid weaseled his way into his heart. And as touching as the moment was, dustin and robin where still highly confused.
Steve’s tears slowed, and he lifted his head from eddies chest, placing a soft kiss on his lips.
“Uh. Excuse me?” robin broke the silence, and the little world steve had found himself in shattered.
Eddie smiled though, ever the brave. “Me nd stevie are datin’. He’s mah baby.” he ended the sentence by placing a sloppy kiss on steve’s cheek. Dustin was, surprisingly, satisfied with that answer, but robin was not.
“YOU MADE FUN OF ME OVER TAMMY WHEN YOU’RE HERE WITH… HIM?”
Steve blushed, “We had just met when i started at scoops okay! It was really new, i- i didn’t know how to tell you so…. I just decided to be overly supportive by bashing your taste in women.”
This set robin off, and she didn’t stop until a nurse came in and threatened to have her removed from the premises.

Part VI: Don't Lay Your Red Hand On Me
“Where the fuck are we going?” Ben asked, checking the picture outside the windshield.
The sun was already setting down, and there have been hours since you started driving. At least he had been able to see the damn sunset again after being caged for so long.
Despite his questioning look and not trusting you completely, both made it to your car in the middle of the mess of blood and headless corpses around the building, with him naked under the effects of your invisibility powers. Somehow, you still managed to reassure Soldier Boy it was to protect him. In fact, as you guided both out of the place, you were scared of your abilities not working properly to have him covered. The last thing you wanted was the cameras to have a look at him, escaping with your help.
Now, with Soldier Boy dressed in his clothes and you still wiping some of the dry blood from your skin, you drove without a destiny in mind. Just somewhere you could take him far away from Homelander and Vought. He was, in fact, your top priority and needed to be protected, even if you knew you were nothing compared to his strength and abilities, you still had the urgency of him trusting you, to feel like you really cared. And you did care, but for the wrong reasons and those, he didn’t have to know.
“Far away,” you responded, picking up your phone with one hand as you drove through the highway.
“That doesn’t tell me anything,” he insisted, looking at you switching your attention between the device in your hands and the road.
You dialed Grace, ignoring his voice. She didn’t answer immediately. You cursed under your breath and dialed again. No answer anew, just the ring and the automatic voicemail message. Well, fuck. You had to play with what you had.
“Hey, it’s me,” you began the message. “Please call me when you can, I have to inform you of something. It’s urgent, please call me back.”
Ben rolled his eyes, annoyed as fuck for your silence towards his demands. “You’re gonna tell me now what the fuck is going on? You’re a fucking supe and everyone is dead back there! And not ‘cause of me.”
“First, nothing to fear from me. Okay? You’re the one who’d kill me in a blink. Second, I don’t know!” you yelled as a response, clearly irritated. “I don’t know shit! I know we need to run and that’s all. So just shut up and let me drive.”
“Christ on a cross, you women are fucking irritating,” Ben fumed. He saw a cheap motel by the road and he would’ve guessed you were going there because you slowed down and pulled up in the parking lot. He sighed. “Home, shitty home.”
“Got any ideas? Because I’m all ears,” you stopped the engine and got down the car, taking the sports bag with you. The supe rolled his eyes and before he went out, you came right to his half open door. “Stay here, I'll check in.”
Ben shut his eyes, watching you closing the car door with a loud thud, and you left to get a room. He felt the need to storm behind and shout out what he really thought of your stupid ass bossing him around. If it wasn’t because he wasn’t really half the way out of the fucking car, he should have been arguing and insisting for some real answers. But for some reason he stayed back. When you came back after a short time he followed you to a double bed room you’d be using just for the night.
Once you entered, you decided a shower was first thing on the list, and then you had to communicate with Grace as soon as fucking possible. Checking around, you were thankful to find a couple of towels in the bathroom, while Ben settled on his own space, lying down on one of the beds.
He observed you thoroughly as you studied yourself in the dirty mirror hanging on the wall. The disgusting grimace you made told him you were looking for more blood to wipe off. And before he could speak again you turned to see him.
“I'm gonna take a shower,” you announced.
He raised a brow. “Mind some company, sweetheart?”
You rolled your eyes as you started to unbutton your blouse, his eyes checking shamelessly the little exposed skin didn’t go unnoticed by you. “Don't even think about it.”
And with that, you just disappeared inside the bathroom. The noise of water running compensated both of you for the silence. He turned on the cheap TV to have some noise for himself too, deciding he’d go for a shower after you. Probably if he was in a different mood would have just tried to get in your pants. Ben was getting so damn stressed out. First you took out his weed, then you announced he would have medication for his fucking stress disorder or some shit, and later, agents and employees of the facility just started to die violently without reason. He thought if any of you would be next while you walked him out.
It was too much to handle right now. He needed something to take it all out. Something, anything, somebody. Just to release it the only way he knew: with sexual pleasure. He didn't understand yet what the fuck was happening. Did you really care about him? You could just have left him there to handle everything by himself and run away. Yet, you took him out of the facility and he, once again, had a glimpse of your courage. Maybe a little. And he started to like that. Suddenly, he heard the shower being turned off and minutes later you came out of the bathroom sooner than he expected, dressed in the same clothing, drying the droplets on your face and wet hair.
“I’m gonna get some dinner, stay here” you announced, taking your phone and the room and car keys. “The door will be locked, don’t do anything stupid.”
Ben scoffed, standing up before making his way to take a shower himself. He faced you directly, just a couple of inches separating both of you. Your gaze challenged him to step closer. “I’m not a fucking animal.”
You hummed, without looking away from his eyes. “Sometimes I doubt you.”
“Locking the fucking door won’t do shit, why you keep doing this?” Ben asked, visible confusion on his features. He really looked tired as hell. Tired of your bullshit.
“It’s not because of you. I perfectly understand that, just wait for me here.”
With that, you turned on your heels and left the room. From the other side, you locked the door. Ben let out a deep breath. He knew it was easy to tear it apart, and again, run after you to have damn answers for once. But instead, he decided to calm himself a little and get rid of his clothes. Inside the shower, he let the warm water take care of the burdens he was carrying, without knowing, on his back. He wondered if he’d been better dead by now, if sleeping in a chamber was a greater choice than this, just running along with you, a woman, who just seemed to fuck him up even more instead of playing real like you had promised. If he knew how to kill himself, probably would’ve done it already. He was getting sick of hiding, of being a fucking experiment, to be under someone’s else’s orders… The worst part of it all is that he never had the right to choose on his own faith. Not even his own death.
Tumblr media
Out of the room, you were a few feet away from the door you left behind when your phone started to ring softly. An unknown number appeared on the screen and cautiously you answered, making your way to the car, getting inside on the co-pilot seat.
“Hello?” a voice you knew too well started to speak after some seconds of silence.
“Grace?”
The woman on the other line breathed out. “Yeah, it’s me. Uhm, couldn’t attend earlier, sorry…”
“It’s okay,” you shook your head, as if she could see you face to face. “We’ve been compromised. My lab assistants, the nurses, scientists, guards… Everyone is dead.”
“Fuck,” Grace hissed. She sounded exhausted. “Where is Soldier Boy?”
“I took him out, checked us in at a motel. Can’t go back to my old place. Not yet.”
“You have the copies of the project, right?”
For a moment you felt she was doubting you, but you answered anyway, surprised she would even ask that. “I do.”
There was a little silence coming from her. You continued. “I don’t think I told you yet, but… Fuck, I received a visit from Homelander a couple of days ago. He crashed into my apartment… He knows.”
Grace cursed under her breath. “Y/N, we’re playing with fire here.”
You swallowed thickly, feeling your heartbeat raising. “What’s going on with you? Something happened back there?”
“Victoria Neuman came, saying she wanted to talk to me. She kinda threatened my life, and I’m on the run… Now I can make the puzzle.”
“You think they might be working together?”
“Probably. Senator Bishop was found dead, and guess who is running now with Robert Singer for vice president.”
You chuckled. The whole situation was so ironically clear. “Victoria, that stupid, smart bitch.”
“I’m gonna get some information on her, I know some people who’d know more than I do. I’ll call once I find something.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for that. Do you need me to do anything?”
“Just keep Soldier Boy busy. Work on that injection as soon as you can,” she ordered.
You nodded to yourself, taking a look around the empty lot. “Yes, ma’am.”
Tumblr media
After a somewhat long time, Ben saw you entering the room and locking the door. You left a paper bag and water on the nightstand by his bed, where he laid down like he was having a nice day on the beach with only a towel around his hips. He noticed you looked down at him a little longer than usual, but he wasn’t going to let that slip. A sleazy smirk formed on his lips.
“My eyes are up here, sugar.”
You turned away your gaze for a moment before looking back up at him again, confident this time as you locked up your eyes with his half-lidded ones.
“Stop the pet names, Soldier Boy.”
Ben stood up on his feet slowly under your eyes following his moves. His muscular frame towering over your figure as the towel fell to the floor, revealing his bare figure to you. He was growing fond of the way you didn’t step back, ever, from him.
“Well, you never complained back there. Speaking of,” he took the bottle of water between his hands and took a sip from it before his green orbs focused on you anew. “I think you owe me an explanation.”
“I already told you. I don’t know shit.”
“Fucking lies,” the supe hissed. “Tell me now.”
You shrugged and crossed your arms on your chest, tired of him. “I have nothing.”
“Sweetheart, you never shut your piehole during our sessions. Don’t back up now,” he dared, stepping closer to you, eyelids narrowing.
Neither Ben or you dared to look away. You had to act like it, for your good. What if Soldier Boy found out that probably Homelander was behind all of it? It was going to be the end of him, his son; the fucking abusive experiment would be gone with a blast. But Vought was still around. It wasn’t just about Homelander or personal payback. It was more than that.
Homelander was barely the tip of the iceberg. And you were afraid Ben would never understand the mission. Would he say yes to use his blood to create even more experiments after all he went through, even if you explained everything? You knew his answer. The next step was getting it from him and it was going to be the hardest thing ever. But you could think of that later. There was nothing that a small cut accident couldn’t do.
“I’m not talking because I have nothing to tell you, Ben,” you lied, looking at him with your brows knitting together. “I wish I knew, but I’m just as scared as you might be.”
“I’m not scared,” he replied a little too fast. “I want to know why you took me out.”
“Why not?” you insisted. “You deserve another chance.”
And I need you alive to find a cure to this curse.
Ben scrutinized your face. This time, he couldn’t read through you. What did he know though, was that he was tired. A burning ache was forming inside him once again and he needed to release it. He was used to sensing your heartbeats, the blood running on your veins, and still now there was no glimpse of you reacting to his teasing. Any other woman would have thrown herself at him, he was used to it. Now, there wasn’t anyone. Just you, paying no attention to his perfectly sculpted body and his cock between his legs. It had to be the fact that you were a supe. Not as powerful, but still. A clear advantage in the cursed world you all lived in. He took in your body, thinking into luring you to give in and imagining how it would be to have you crying under him, moaning his name exactly like numerous women have. Just for the night.
“Don’t think about it, Soldier Boy,” you voiced out, like if you read his nasty mind. “I’m not gonna do that.”
His eyes went back to your face. “Y’know, I used to have lines of women like you during my days. Countless lines of rich whores, waiting to have a good fuck with me. Pretty ladies whose husbands would leave unattended, cute little secretaries, bombshell Hollywood actresses… All of them, just wet holes ready for me. I’d take them all.”
You chuckled at his pathetic little speech. If that was his way of getting you to bed, it wasn’t working. Not now, not never.
“I’m not just any rich whore, Ben. I don’t want to fuck you, you can use the bathroom to take care of your little problem down there.”
You saw how his jaw clenched as he held his eyes with yours.
He smirked. “Maybe not today, pretty thing. But you’ll see.”
“Be my guest.”
Ben turned around, giving you a clear view of his ass as he locked himself inside the bathroom. The sound of the shower running was not enough to cover his moans and grunts as he jerked himself off. You just decided to sleep. There was a long drive waiting for you in the morning.

Beginning | Tim Bradford | The Rookie
Act One | Chapter 16 | Chapter 17 | Chapter 18 | Chapter 19 | Chapter 20 | Chapter 21 | Chapter 22 | Chapter 23 | Chapter 24
Tumblr media
Despite being in this room for what felt like a thousand times, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel uneasy. The put in the bottom of her stomach grew and grew until it felt like a black hole of nervousness. It took all of her might to stay still in her seat, trying to look composed. Now was not the time to show weakness.
Seemingly reading her mind, Tim leaned across, taking one of her hands in his, stopping her from fiddling with her wedding band once more. It was a habit she had meant to break a thousand times but she had never seemed to crack it.
The conversation from the night before spun through her mind. She had lost so much to this, something priceless, (Y/N) didn't know if she could lose any more. She had gotten her life back, she fought like hell to get some semblance of peace for the last two years. Her karma had come, and now it could leave her again.
Those two years she spent longing for her life back, for her husband back, she hadn't realised just how much she missed everything else. Angela and her awful jokes, the way Grey always knew what to say to her. She missed her neighbours and the cookies they brought over when they baked too much. She got it all back.
There were things that were lost forever. Her rapport with Captain Anderson, the woman who inspired her more than anything; she never got to say goodbye to her. If she ever saw Bishop again she wouldn't know what to say, (Y/N) didn't even know if Talia was aware that she was alive.
But there were also things she had gained that she never had before. Harper, Nolan, Chen. The three of them had bonded quickly over various topics. Harper knew what it was like to come back from undercover work, how hard the adjustment was. Nolan's empathy and understanding provided comfort she struggled to get anywhere else.
And with Chen, the two talked about Tim; it was nice to know that he was okay when she was gone. He never really opened up about their time apart but Lucy had provided him with support. (Y/N) was forever grateful. But she was also determined; determined to never lose again.
Her thoughts were so consumed with what she had and what she was putting up at stake, she barely noticed that Grey had begun to give out the initial assignments. Lopez and West were going to go over the initial case file, to see if there was anymore influence from Rosalind that could have been missed. Harper and Nolan were going to go to the Central California Women's Correctional Facility to question the Warden about Dyer's communications and habits. She just about caught Grey giving out her own assignment "...and Detective Bradford is going to go see Kade Sullivan. If our theory is correct, and Sullivan is involved somehow, he will want to seek her out. Tim, you go with her as a lookout only."
"What? No!" Tim protested, horrified at the idea of leaving (Y/N) alone with someone who could have potentially caused her so much grief and torment. "I'm going with her."
"Be happy I've put you on surveillance. I can easily have you and Harper switch assignments." Grey rebutted. "You are not to get involved unless Detectie Bradford explicitly asks for it. Is that understood?"
Tim pursed his lips in frustration. He trusted (Y/N) with every fibre of his being but he couldn't stand the idea of this going wrong. The thing is, he didn't trust himself not to get involved if he saw things going downhill. Gritting his teeth, he responded. "Send Harper."
----------
Where there once stood a dingy and rundown house, stood a home that had received thousands of dollars of TLC. Rotting wood had been replaced, foundations rebuilt, dead plants now blossoming. There was no indication that this house had been in disrepair, bordering on inhabitable.
(Y/N) turned her head, eyes settling on the car Harper was in down the street, reassuring herself that she was no longer alone in this game. Her heart rushed at the realisation truly settled in, seeing Sullivan again would fully put her as well as every other officer at the Mid-Wilshire precinct into a battle of survival, one where there could only be one winner.
She knocked three times before taking a step back. She stood tall, hoping that her stance showed confidence and unwavering determination, things she was definitely not feeling right now. Still she took a deep breath, unclenched her jaw and waited.
She did not have to wait for long though, it was less than a minute before the door swung open on, showing her former case worker staring at her, unmoving, unblinking. His jaw was slightly lowered, the only movement he had was a slight twitch in his right hand.
(Y/N) swallowed her nervousness down, "Sullivan, can I come in?"
"You were missing." Sullivan seemingly snapped back to life. He stuck his head out of the house, looking up and down the street for any visible observers before moving to let (Y/N) into the house as he continued to speak. "Come in, come in."
"I'm not here for a social call."
He moved into the kitchen, offering (Y/N) a cup of tea. He pottered around, trying not to seem as shaken as his initial reaction. "You were never the type anyway. But what are you doing here, last I heard was that you had fallen off the grid. No trace, nothing. Did you not think how worried I would be, and what about that husband of yours?"
"He's not important." (Y/N) lied, going over the story her and Harper had agreed for her to tell. She knew that Harper was listening in over her wire but she still hated the way it felt to lie about Tim. "He's moved on. Probably staying with me out of pity; I made my peace with that."
"Then why are you here," Sullivan passed (Y/N) a cup of tea, "I mean, don't get me wrong I'm thrilled that you are okay. I was so worried but you wouldn't be here if you thought that everything was going fine."
She placed the mug down without a sip, her hand slipping over the edge of the counter as she did so. "I recently got Regina Diaz arrested. She's awaiting trial; no way she's getting off easy. I just came by to say I was okay, I'm no longer in danger."
"That's good, I'm glad."
"Me too." (Y/N) looked round the room. There wasn't a single inkling that someone lived here full time, the only mess was from the drinks Sullivan just made, the rest was immaculate. Nothing was out of place, as was what she had seen of the rest of the house. "I best be off. I don't need to keep you only longer. It was good to see you."
Sullivan held his hand out for (Y/N) to shake. "You too. Let me see you out."
----------
(Y/N) looked at the road ahead as Nyla drove back to the station. With the bug (Y/N) planted in the kitchen, the transmission would already be recording, they just had to hope that it would pick up any conversations Sullivan had, enough for a warrant.
As the city passed her by, she could feel Nyla passing a glance at her every so often. Her gaze was heavy, she could feel it pressing down on her. Eventually, (Y/N) had had enough of the silence. "You know you can just say it."
"It isn't true." Nyla softly said, considering each word as she spoke. "What you said before. He didn't stay out of pity. I hope you know that."
"Yeah, I do, but..." (Y/N) shook her head, stopping herself.
Nyla pulled the car over, parking at before turning to look at (Y/N), giving the detective her full attention. "But what?"
"Sometimes I think it would just be easier if he had moved on. I've dragged you all into my mess."
"This isn't your fault. And I can't speak for everyone else, but you didn't drag me into anything." Nyla sighed, she didn't often provide comfort, it wasn't something she excelled at but she could relate. She knew how (Y/N) felt. "Look, I haven't known you as long as some of the others, but you aren't but you aren't a lost cause, and you gotta stop this self-doubt thing you got going on. You're stuck in the past and I get that but you have a family at that station a family willing to fight this with you. Let them, let us help."
(Y/N) closed her eyes, blinking away the small tears that had formed at Nyla's words. Silently, she nodded at the woman, letting her know that she was okay. "Thank you."
"Now, I mean this in the nicest way possible. Get a grip, we have a job to do."
(Y/N) hummed. "Let's go."

"Oh, did you want to see Jason?" Robin couldn't hide the distaste in her tone. Wow, even in death or hallucinations, straight people were a disappointment. Jason had treated Chrissy like garbage, which Robin knew was how a lot of girls her age had been conditioned into accepting affection but-- "No, silly, I want to kill him," Chrissy giggled, her bouncing ponytail somehow still perfectly curled even in death. Okay, Robin took it back. Undead Chrissy ruled. or Comes Back Wrong Chrissy Cunningham, and Robin Buckley? Well, she supports women's wrongs

A is for Ambition
I was having a conversation with a friend on the discord server I'm on about Azula, and this point came up about the sexism surrounding the way she was treated both by the canon reducing her actions to mental illness and by fandom tropes reducing her actions to her traumas. While I strongly believe that both her mental health and her past traumas had a hand in Azula's development, I think a lot of her character and actions (most of them, in fact) can also be attributed to her genuine ambition.
Ambition isn't bad in and of itself, and I think there is a version of Azula that could have used that ambition productively. But she didn't, and narratively speaking, that should be okay. What bothers me most about the idea of a redemption for Azula- and I know I've talked about this before- is that it doesn't take all of her motives for the choices she made into consideration. I don't like the way that dismissing her actions as the result of mental illness and abuse robs her of agency and reduces her to being a puppet. If there was one thing Azula was not, it was a puppet. Frankly, the dismissal of Azula's actions as a result of her mental state and upbringing smacks really strongly of misogyny. As if Azula in her natural state would be devoid of the ambition that made her so deadly. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I think all or even most of the people who want to redeem Azula and use her mental health and relationship with Ozai as an easy way to do it are misogynist, but I think the fact that those were presented as reasons to factory reset her and make her a loving supportive sister for Zuko did come from a misogynistic place. And it didn't start withing the fandom.
As a society, we have a problem letting women be villains without explaining it away somehow. There are scores and scores of stories of women who turned evil (or more accurately turned anti-hero) because she was scorned by a man, or abused, or otherwise hurt, usually by a man. Or she turned evil as a result of something happening to her child (obviously not the case here). Then there are the genre of women who turn evil because they feel threatened by another woman. There isn't a whole lot of space for a woman who wants to do evil things simply because they benefit her or because she enjoys them. The best example of a female villain who was in it for the love of the game that I can think of is the original Maleficent, and then they decided that making her more complex meant giving her a tragic backstory a la a very thinly veiled date rape allegory. There isn't a lot of space for a female villain who cursed a baby because she needed to remind these uppity humans who they were dealing with.
Azula was almost definitely abused by Ozai- and possibly even physically abused- but that wasn't all of her motivation. I would go as far as to say that wasn't even most of her motivation. Azula was a ruthless, cunning, ambitious girl, who enjoyed what she did. If there is going to be any redemption of her, that needs to be acknowledged first. But really, does she need to be redeemed?

you do know that by transitioning to a masc aligned gender identity you don’t have to hate women or be radically pro-sex to the point of supporting harmful things. like those two things don’t have to go hand in hand. you do know that
also, your arguments are just asinine. yes, all work is degrading, but it is no way comparable to the shame and violation which comes with raped all day for money that you dont get. no one is trafficked and forced to become a chiropractor/masseuse/etc. also, you are against capitalist society, and yet you are somehow still pro sex work? you cannot agree that all work is degrading and yet delegate one type that is particularly degrading and harmful as okay or even good.
also, you cant compare hierarchical society in the workplace (as bad as it may be) to actual, real world forced sex. no one is forcing you to have an office job
consent can’t be bought for the right price. if all work is non consensual what do you call non consensual sex. i think you know
First of all, you have absolutely no right to call me a woman hater you projecting motherfucker. You literally told me you think all men should die and that I should kill myself for being a man. If that's not you, stop being a fucking coward and prove it and talk to me off anon. Meanwhile I have been nothing but supportive towards women and women's issues, especially because almost all of them still affect me as a trans man.
I am radically pro sex. Our culture's views on sex are incredibly toxic and unhealthy. Your puritanical bullshit is only contributing to this toxicity. Sex is a neutral act. You can use all sorts of provocative language to describe it, but ultimately it's not that much different than any other activity people can do together. Your attitude towards sex as inherently violating, intimate, and shameful comes from the fact that you are a 17 year old asexual teenager. Not everyone views sex the way you do.
And how many times do I have to tell you, you are minimizing workplace abuse. My friend had her legs PERMANENTLY FUCKING DESTROYED from working at Starbucks out of the managers convenience. She literally told you that she would rather be "forced" (because you don't believe sex workers can give consent) into sex with strangers than have to live with her shitty legs. Amazon warehouse workers literally died because they weren't allowed to leave the warehouses during a deadly tornado. And that's just in North America. The electronics you are typing this ask out were made with slavery. The lengths you go to dismiss workplace abuse are astounding.
Anyway, you have yet to provide an argument against SEX WORK ITSELF. You're just arguing against trafficking and rape, and of fucking course those are bad. But, trafficking and rape are not inherit to sex work just like forcing people to stay in a building during a tornado isn't inherit to warehouse work. The problem isn't sex work itself, it's the abusive practices in the sw industry and societal factors that force people into sex work. If people were being trafficked into office jobs, would you be against any job sitting in front of a computer? If being a non trafficked masseuse is fine, what's wrong with being a non trafficked sex worker?
And yes, all work is degrading because we live in a capitalist society. The problem is the capitalism, not the work itself. In a perfect socialist utopia, people would still do work because we have a society that needs running. And there would still be sex work because there will ALWAYS be sex work.
I still have no idea what your actual policy positions are, unless they're just coming online, complaining about the concept of sex work, and misgendering trans men, which is very ineffective. There will always be sex work, so what measures do you want to take to ensure sex worker protections? I have realistic goals and policies that would tangibly make the lives of real sex workers better. All you have is a shoddy argument that sex workers are too stupid to know what's best for them or give consent.
And again, you can't easily sort things into "consensual" and "non consensual" with a hard line. Of course work in our society isn't fully consensual. The problem here isn't the presence of sex - sex is completely neutral - it's the coercive factors. If you can acknowledge the difference between working a minimum wage job and slavery, you can acknowledge the difference between a sex slave and a sex worker.

soft slippers, old clothes, old jokes
(leo x laia | 1662 words | fluff, post-4x02 | on ao3)
The room Has— Ezel placed them in is bright; nicely decorated in a pleasant enough, neutral color scheme. There is no reason it makes her as unsettled as it does.
Though, of course, that might just be Ezel. She had been loving Istanbul, before another figure who probably had his own supernatural agenda showed his face.
The only good part of being here is that they allowed Leo and her to share the room. The silence between them is a comfortable one as they unpack, his presence enough to assure her it will all be fine.
"So," Leo breaks the silence in a joking tone, and Laia has an inkling what he'll say next. "I'm your friend?"
Heat burns her face. She refuses to look up, focusing on folding their clothes.
"I'm sorry, I panicked. I didn't want to offend the women. The place seemed like a sort of sanctuary, and I didn't know if they would ask us to leave, so I—"
The words fail her when he steps closer. When she looks up, the glint in his eyes seems to bring out the green. It's a familiar look — a lion pinpointing how to make a move on his favorite prey.
Anticipation flutters in her stomach.
"But, friend?" He pretends to pout. One hot, big calloused hand touches her hip. He throws the shirt he was supposed to be folding somewhere in the direction of the bed, and neither of them turns to look if it reached the mattress.
Leo continues, "Don't get me wrong. I will always be here for you." Leo combines his words with burying his face on her neck. She doesn't know how he does it — makes every touch feel new, even when she — or her soul, at least — has known him for a whole lifetime already.
His finger traces her abdomen up and down, lighting a fire low in her stomach.
"But I thought I had made my feelings clear." His nose slowly brushes against her neck.
"You have, and I have, I just—"
A kiss right above her collarbone steals her words.
Laia likes him so much. It's not a realization, it's not new. But it's just— How does he always find new ways to make her smile, to make things better? How does he surprise her like that? She just wants this to never end, to make him feel a fraction of what he gives her, because if she does, he'll know he's the most loved man in the world.
Counterintuitively, Laia gathers all her strength and gently pushes him away. He goes easily, blinking at her in a silent question.
"Did I hurt you? I really didn't mean to..." Laia exhales, tries again. "You're the most important thing to me. I just didn't know if it was appropriate to tell them that."
Leo somehow softens even more, and Laia realizes that they truly are okay. Their feelings had been clear, and her boyfriend/soulmate was just doing that thing again where he quietly takes her mind off of their problems.
He kisses her cheek.
"I love you, swallow," is all he says. If her legs weaken a bit, that's between her and her god.
"I love you, too." So much. It's funny to think that she'd been afraid of saying it, once. As if her and the enormity of her feelings would ever be anything but safe with him.
When he kisses her now, it's slower, softer, just reveling in the other's presence as one would a sunny day. Basking in the familiarity and the knowledge of what the other likes best: his hands tracing her back, her fingers cupping the back of his head, both keeping the other close. Her biting his lower lip. Stroking the sides of his stomach, his beautiful chest.
Eventually, his hands go down to her thighs and lift her up as if she weighs nothing, so their necks can get a break. Laia hadn't noticed it'd started to ache, but he had. Supported by him and the wall he presses her against, she automatically embraces him closer, lets her hands appreciate his familiar body.
She doesn't know for how long they kiss, but eventually she rests her head on his shoulder, and he limits himself to kissing her head now and then.
This close to him, Laia allows herself to think that maybe it will be okay. Maybe they'll find Mephis, and get Vlad back, and have the most normal, boring life ever after that. Sure, she has no idea how, yet, but she has Leo by her side, so how bad could it be, really?
As if on cue, a thought, not new, creeps into her mind again. A little suspicion she can't find it in herself to say out loud yet. The idea is enough to break her. She doesn't know what she'll do if it's true.
But if it is true, her silence is unfair to him, and she can't bear that either.
"What is it?" Leo asks, voice low.
Laia almost laughs; would have, if this didn't speak directly to her biggest fear. One of her biggest fears, anyway.
"How did you—"
"You got tense. Stopped playing with my hair too." She can hear his fake pout, and this time her small smile is real.
Laia takes a deep breath. She survived the balaur, Karnivan, and the bite. If she is destroyed now, she might recover too, one day.
"I was just thinking about the bright place. And, about Ur." She pauses. "He said he... wanted to talk to you?"
She doubts Leo notices how he stops caressing her thigh as he takes her words into consideration. Then he adjusts his grip on her and carries her to the enormous bed. He easily avoids the open suitcase he'd been working on — just gently places her down and climbs in beside her. The two of them move into one of their favorite positions, facing each other and hand in hand. His thumb caresses hers.
Gently, he asks, "What do you want to know?"
Laia hesitates. "Well, Raphi told me something interesting about... guardians."
He nods. "He told me too," Leo says, and Laia braces herself. "I know what you're thinking."
"So, you know."
"That I'm your guardian, yeah." Leo's smile is so soft, so happy, that all her worries vanish for a moment. Nothing can be wrong if Leo is smiling like this. Her heart skips a beat.
"Then..."
He waits, only speaks when he sees that she can't find the words. "He said that I was chosen because I chose you, as Aslan. That I rejected my sacred mission to be by your side." One hand leaves hers so he can cup her cheek, and she leans into the touch immediately. Part of her is shy under his gaze, uncomprehending of how someone can love that hard. The other part knows she's looking back the same way.
"You're worried I chose you because I'm your guardian, but it's the other way around," Leo says. "They made me your guardian because they already knew I would always choose you."
Sudden unshed tears burn her eyes, tenderness steals her breath.
"And," Laia starts, unsure. She focuses on the familiar hand on her face, on his gentle eyes. "Are you happy with that choice?"
His smile... There is no universe where Laia is worthy of that love. But there is no universe where she would not fight to be deserving of it.
Leo kisses her hand. "I am."
He lets her process that for a moment, lets all her worry fade into relief.
Then his eyes acquire a mischievous glint that makes her heart skip a beat.
"Even if you want us to be just friends."
"Oh my— Leo!"
As he laughs, Laia decides to attack him. She hugs him, which, sure, might not be considered a war move by most people, but then again, they have never felt what it's like to bury their faces on his chest.
And they never will, Laia thinks, smug. He's mine.
The attack works. He stops teasing her in favor of stroking her hair, which is a good outcome for all involved. Peace settles in her for the first time in weeks.
That is, until Leo clears his throat. He tightens his embrace on her for a second before saying, "You know. It would— I mean, since we've cleared things up, what do you think of—" Laia caresses his back in silent support, and he must understand her, because he kisses the top of her head and finishes, "Would you consider moving in with me, one day?"
She hides her smile on the crook of his neck.
"Of course, yes. I would love that." Delight overcomes her as he holds her tighter, as dreamy visions of sharing her life with him like that fill her mind. "I have to figure out my lease, and Millie, but, yes, we should definitely talk about it as soon as this ends."
It takes him a moment before he speaks. When Laia looks up, he looks the same way he did the first time she told him she loved him, all soft and bright. He just says, "Okay."
"Okay," Laia echoes, trying and failing to contain her smile. She kisses his flushed cheek, lies in her rightful place in his arms again.
It's quiet, safe, and perfect. Like their own sunny bubble in that cold dark chapel was, or their own little house in an empire who didn't care for them. It's their space. Just them.
Laia doesn't know how they'll solve everything this time, but they will, because she needs this for a long, long time, and she refuses any scenario where she won't have it. She will assure that future for them, and nothing would—
Leo breaks the silence and her train of thought. "And just to clarify, I don't mean moving in as friendly roommates, but as romantic lovers—"
"Leo!"

I've been feeling absolutely nothing at all in regards to my father's death since returning to the town where I work. It's like nothing that happened back home over the summer actually took place. Apparently this sort of new phase of denial is normal, but it feels really weird. Every now and then I have a sort of flash and then my mind screams at me and it goes away again. But I can't help feel like it's all going to come crashing down around me at some point. I feel really melancholy this evening and lonely (not abnormal for me) but I'm not really thinking about it directly or anything. I just think/feel it... sideways. IDK.
I've got a weird set of feelings towards men at the moment. Because on the one hand, while my father was ill and dying, I saw the absolute best of men- strength, compassion, support, kindness - and sometimes where I wouldn't have expected it. It buoyed me up and gave me hope. But I have also been totally ignored the entire summer by a man I considered a close friend who couldn't even do the bare minimum and post a message of condolence on facebook, let alone contact me directly. I am so disappointed and disillusioned. Whatever I might have felt for him, a) I definitely don't now and b) was clearly not in the same ballpark as him. Meanwhile, the random guy from uni who I was talking to a bit at the beginning of the summer faded away and although I actually asked him out (well, asked if he wanted to come with me to an exhibition but that's basically asking him out, RIGHT?) because I am no longer afraid of rejection, he never even bothered to reply. His loss. But what is WRONG with the men I choose to be interested in? Why are they incapable of communicating or showing any interest back? I know I'm not super hot but what about me is making them lose any interest they ever had? Or why am I going for such utterly useless men? When clearly there are kind, generous, humorous, giving, intelligent men out there! Because this summer proved it! It's so baffling to me. And frustrating. Are single men who apparently want relationships just genuinely not interested in interacting with and showing interest in women who show some interest in them? Or is it just me?! Again... IDK.
I'm seriously considering dealing with all my issues by writing Harry Potter fanfiction. I KNOW OKAY??? But this summer has been... all manner of terrible and I'm trying to figure out who I am - really and truly figure it out. As my mother pointed out to some relative recently, "She really did identify to such an extent with Hermione Granger" and maybe I just need somehow to retreat to that safe space of my adolescence and explore who I am through Hermione Granger again. I know JKR is no longer someone to admire, I get it, but HP fandom (rather than the books which I've actually only read once) has always been such a safe space for me. Again... I don't know.
I don't know much at the moment. I think I should go to bed.

Ladies, may i have your attention please ?
Reblog and share this post with the most girlies possible right now, because
👏WE 👏NEED 👏TO 👏START 👏AN 👏OLDER 👏VIRGIN 👏GIRL 👏SUPPORT 👏GROUP
(Lads, don't you effing start laughing like stupid, i bite fr! Love u if u support tho)
If you are like me, a 24 yo and + woman and virgin/never had sex/single, or can relate to, let's start this mf support group, reblog and share so that more ladies can follow us, 'cause i can't be the only one 😤
If you don't, reblog and share are still appreciated but DON'T READ THE REST OF THE POST FOR I AM GOING TO SLANDER 🌠Jennifer🌠 SO HARD, THE CHILDREN MUST NOT SEE AND U DON’T WANNA SEE THAT
Ladies, be a girl's girl and join the fight against 🌠Jennifer🌠 !!!
TW : abuse of the word "virgin" because it's not an insult not a compliment so we are getting used to hear it. If your uncomfortable with "virgin", get out 🚪🚶‍♀️
By the way, 🌠Jennifer🌠 is not a person : she is an allegory, she represents the people when i tell them i am virgin.
I picture 🌠Jennifer🌠 as female because in french, my native language, nouns have genders and society is female, i don't make the rules 💅 I don't personally know a Jennifer : i picked the name for the vibe.
Since i am adult virgin woman, she assumes that I :
Too pure for this world
Waiting for marriage
Religious
Traditional
No fun at all
Don't get sex joke
Blushing/outraged at anything even remotly intimate
Ugly/unattractive
Bad at flirting
A lesbian in denial
Aro/ace
Femcel
Shy/not assertive/doesn't dare anything
Childish/immature
Don't take care of myself
Must have something wrong in my body and/or my head
Aiming for someone not single (for example, her lame and uglyass bf 🤮)
Hate men
Too masculine/not womanly enough
A "nice girl" or a "one of the boys"
Scaring/disgusted the boys out
Scared of the 🍆
Don't know how it works
"Too much into politic" / too feminist
Set my standards too high
Have a trauma
Not interested in others/antisocial/sociopath/cavewoman
Don't masturbe
Need advice about the boys
Too romantic
Had strict parents
A lonely girl
Actually a minor
Cringe
Chronically online
Don't know life
Lying
Like STFU, stop. You don't even make sense !
We were talking, getting to know each other. We were getting along so far until i dropped "actually i am still a virgin" bomb.
And then 🌠Jennifer🌠 started to look at me funny and that's how i KNOW she will less respect me. Like she either babying or gaslighting me. She may not say anything but all the previous points above are shining through her sassy eyes.
I KNOW i may sound aggressive in this post but irl i am not like that, she just annoys me so much . Your girl have a job, friends, hobby, ambition, dreams, YOUR GIRL IS BUSY and doesn't have to put up with those bs.
The worst is : i am perfectly okay with me having reaching adulthood and still being virgin, but it somehow bugs🌠Jennifer🌠' for no reason and wanna make it my problem.
So hear me out, 🌠Jennifer🌠 :
what i put or not my coochie is not your effing business
I am 24, you thought seeing a dick pic would have me blushing ?
As if i'd want ur lameass bf 🤮 he doesn't even treat u right
All the men i know so far were nothing but wonderful with me
Do i need to show you my 139452 step self-care routine to prove you i am girly enough ?
If i scare the men, how come you are not scared of me ? (Fear me or i will harvest your kneecaps)
What if i wasn't queer/lgbt ? (Show them support pls)
I am fabulous 💅💅💅💅💅🖕
I don't have any sex related trauma, but i will be your worst nightmare if you keep going
Why would i be lying ? I don't have time for creating bs, unlike you
No i am not hidding it 🖕
I would love to do sex jokes for you. Unfortunatly i don't like you and will not joke around with u
Your standards are too low
Me and my bitches from the adult virgin women support group will put you down and we are not shutting up. Period 💅

The Dumbass most common reactions to Hash Bingo
(which I am too lazy to put in an actual Bingo Meme)
-If you claim to be a Tom fan and you’re saying any of this stuff, you especially should be ashamed of yourself.
Update: Now with a board by @in-defense-of-loki !
Tumblr media
1). “She’s showing off her pregnancy!”
Yeah, they get kind of hard to hide when you’re a few months in. Of course she was going address it in the interview- she showed up with a baby bump. What was she supposed to say when they asked- “No, please ignore the fact that I’m so obviously pregnant?”
2). “She got pregnant to trap Tom!”
They got engaged in September. And yes, men who feel trapped constantly light up with goofy smiles when their fiancé is around, and go around talking about how “very happy” they are when congratulated/s. 🙄
3). “It’s a publicity stunt, just like Benedict and Sophie!”
Oh goody, the insane tinfoil Cumber bitches who are obsessed with Benedict and Sophie conspiracy theories are now going to move on to Tom and Zawe. 🤦🏻‍♀️
4). “She’s punching up/is a social-climber” (some sick fuck actually tried to put this on her Wikipedia page! 😡)
He’s not going to date you sweetheart. He doesn’t even know you exist. Get over it.
“Social Climber?” What century are you living in??
5). Unhinged “heartbroken” rant about how he’s no longer single.
See # 4. And please get therapy.
6). “Zawe looks like an ape, man, etc.”
Ah yes, racist dog whistles. You’re racist scum. That’s pretty much all that needs to be said about this one.
7.) “She’s just using him to further her career and get into Marvel.”
Update: Zawe talks about how she got the role here
My original answer: Because her career totally wasn’t rising on its own before they got together/s-she got picked to star in Broadway after all. She got the Marvel role before they went public. It’s possible Tom put in a good word for her-that’s how the industry often works. In case you forgot, when Tom was being considered for the Loki role Kenneth Branagh put in a good word for him. He probably would’ve done that even if they were just friends. But if either Tom or Zawe had truly sucked, no good word would’ve gotten them the roles.
8). “I miss him with Taylor!” ::proceeds to spam Zawe tags with Hiddleswift::
It was for 3 months-6 years ago. They both moved on-you need to as well. And don’t spam tags!
9). “Taylor ruined him for decent women and he’s scraping the bottom of the barrel.”
This one seems like a combination of 4, 6, & 8. As well as how ridiculous it is that you somehow think that every woman should be measured by your particular idol, who is not the model of perfection you seem to think she is.
10). “They’re both gay and using each other as a beard.”
While I’m all for more out Queer people in the industry, there are actual straight people there. Everyone is not gay and hiding it. How about concentrating on supporting Queer rights within the Entertainment industry, instead of wasting your time publicly speculating about stuff like this?
11). This one has been aimed at me personally-“You only like Zawe because she’s with Tom!”
No, actually I took an interest in her since I first saw her in Betrayal. This furthered when I had a pleasant personal interaction with her-when I was at stage door I was coughing and sneezing a lot, and she got me some tissues and asked me if I was okay. I then started researching other stuff she’s been in. I know for a fact I’m not the only one. Them getting together was icing on the cake.
Besides, if she came to peoples’ attention because they saw her with Tom and started to like her, what’s wrong with that? I, along with many others, first found out about Tom when we went to see the first Thor movie; and I was originally there to see Chris Hemsworth.
12). “Her grandfather/family was bad, blah blah.”
I tend to take these things with a grain of salt, but let’s say for the sake of argument that it’s true. So what? Are we holding people responsible for what their ancestors did now? In that case, we’re all in trouble, because I guarantee you every body has got at least one asshole ancestor-probably multiple ones.
That’s all I got for now.

Thinking nonstop about how Nora said that Marissa had been a striker but obv now she's a cheerleader. My best guess revolves around how hard it had been for the women on the team due to the misogyny not just of the fans, but of other teammates. She felt like she didn't completely fit in there and she didn't have the support to actually heal as a person. If she was a fox, then it meant that she was from a broken home somehow. Maybe she just wanted to belong to something and her main skill to offer up was that she was athletic. So at first, that was with exy.
I think one of the ways that being a fox is easier for some of the players is that it offers them a way to get out their aggression. Even if they don't seem like particularly violent people, they are under a great deal of stress and many grew up with the idea that the only way to alleviate any of that stress is through violence. For Andrew or Renee who might have gotten used to hurting people or for Matt who learned to manage his emotions through boxing or even for Aaron who doesn't know how to feel comfortable without family members that show their feelings physically.
But that can't be what every person from a tough background needs. It works well for some, but what about people who need gentleness? Who need compassion and to be uplifted? I think the vixens could offer that to people as an alternative to being a fox. And maybe Marissa saw this while playing as a fox, that there was an option where she could remove the parts of her life that were preventing her from healing while still maintaining a support system.
And maybe that's why there are the same number of strikers and backliners, even though, from my personal experience w lacrosse, you run a lot more and a lot harder on an offensive position and therefore would need to swap out more frequently. Maybe they lost one of their strikers to the vixens and it was too hard to recruit a new member in the first place, let alone replace one on top of that.
I know we rag on her a lot for not realizing pretty quickly that Neil's not interested (don't get me wrong, I think that scene is hilarious) but maybe Marissa is trying to reckon with not being a fox anymore. She used to fit there and now she doesn't and she's happier as a vixen, but it's hard to completely remove yourself from something that had saved you. It was easier when there was no contact between the two groups, but now she feels stuck. And here's this new guy who doesn't know how much of a mess she was as a striker, who's cute, and who's single. She just gave it her best shot and it didn't work and now she has to comprehend again that she gave up her connection to the foxes and that's okay.

Criminal Minds 3x5 - Live Star Reaction
I have a lil list now of Sunny’s favorite episodes from the season, so I will be doing a lot more CM “postage” <33
Okay at first I thought it was an airport oops
Fun fact ! I almost got lost on a mall once as a kid, my aunt was with me trying clothes in this store and forgot I was with her ? And left when she was done? (8yo me had enough common sense to stay put and wait near women) she came back looking for me soon but still, that’s a memory I had forgotten for a while 🤭😗
The aunt called but she’s not here (?)
A joystick controller ???? Also Garcia taking charge 👀 hello
Oh there there the rest of the family is
ALRIGHT I HAVE 5 MINS OF CONTENT, TIME FOR SOME DETECTING
- person was taller than Kate but not necessarily an adult, could be an older teen
- Either someone she knows or who doesn’t look necessarily threatening (could be a woman?)
Why is the uncle blaming his son ???? Sir yOURE THE ADULT ????
I know this family is going through hell right now but all these adults are so unlikeable, ALSO they’re giving me weird vibes (the husbands specially)
Obviously the girls mom is worried something like the Jessica Davis murder might happen to her daughter, she’s sobbing but the dad ? He’s so calm, physically and they’re both SO INTERESTED in that murder (would a parent really want to know the horrors that might happen to their child in detail, like this man just asked to hear)
Why is the uncle trying to DERAIL THIS INVESTIGATION ???? Maybe she’s “just lost” ?????
Are they in on it somehow ? The “tries to insert themselves in the investigation” is so fucking ingrained in my brain, maybe that’s what the dad is trying to do about the JD situation
I hate when the EP name becomes significant 🙃
“Something else lured her away from the arcade” We did see that pink balloon !
“Why would you say I taught her well and not we taught her well?” Considering that she’s probably a stay at home mom ? If any one parent is teaching Katie is her mom?
“We’re not participating in any affairs” ...that you know of, thats kinda the point of an affair
OKAY! I’m even more inclined to the possibility of the unsub being another an older kid, if Katie did have issues with a classmate/friend an older sibling could’ve taken great offense to it
Also the necklace ? It’s very expensive gift and I’m assuming her birthday is either coming up or just happened (cause of that first scene) so maybe she got it as a gift from someone who told her to keep it a secret, that’s why she told her parents she found it
The unsub didn’t want the necklace tho, they didn’t take it they threw it away (maybe they’re angry at Katie for having it, maybe “she doesn’t “deserve” it?)
Okay wait wait wait, we’re just a little after halfway through the episode, and theyre pretty much sure Katie was being molested by her uncle (and his son probably knew something about it or was hurt too) and i just WANT TO PUT THIS OUT THERE ON THE OFF CHANCE THAT IM RIGHT
When the they just lost track of Katie’s scent, it was because a vent from the food court was confusing the dogs and I thought to myself “huh maybe the unsub knows a lot about this mall, maybe they went there on purpose just in case, also they kept themselves just shy of the camera view AND who mentioned having worked retail a long time ? The aunt
I was gonna mention that to support my claim of it being a tween (this person doesn’t need to work in the mall, just spend a lot of time there, and in this suburban of a town? Malls are The Hangout Spot)
Anyways this is just in case the uncle had nothing to do with it, cause he was acting really weird the entire time (the dad was as well)
OH MY GOD WHAT IF THE COUSIN WAS HURTING KATIE ???? OH MY GOD, IS THIS WHAT REID IS GETTING AT ???
JESSICA DAVIS MAYBE ???? Sunny you were right to send this one my way, this is insane
I’m pretty sure I have said every possibility but if any of them are right, I’m an evil genius
If they’re all wrong, Im a humble genius
I know they’re “officers of the law” and what not but god do i wish they could beat up pedophiles (and Im sure they would agree)
MOTHERFUCKER I WAS RIGHT AAAAAA LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
And the reason why I figured something out was THE SAME THING THAT EMILY REALIZED
Idk how easy this one was to find out but I feel pretty smart right now : 3
Literally holy fucking shit, Emily should get to deck this lady out
AND SHES THE ONE WHO CALLED THE POLICE !!!!
That was the most satisfying scene to watch, I wish Prentiss had yelled more at her actually, I wished she slammed the table, thrown a chair around
THEY PULLED A GREYS ANATOMY ON ME !! THEY PLAYED SAD MUSIC ON TOP OF A MONTAGE TO MAKE ME THINK THAT LITTLE GIRL WAS DEAD
Really fucking good episode, holy shit
I think I would’ve been forever fucked in the head if Katie died so good she didn’t

The heteronormativity is bad but it’s not even just that. I think the bigger problem in the Byler vs Melvin ship war is that since mlm fandoms have a reputation of being misogynistic and hating the female character for “getting in the way” everyone automatically assumes that Bylers fall under that category too (I’ve had sapphic friends who don’t watch the show tell me that they hate Byler because they think that the fans hate women even though most of us are queer women ourselves) and so we have to be extra nice and accommodating and apologize every time anyone even mildly criticizes El on here otherwise we’re labeled misogynistic (and even ableist even though El has no canonical disabilities). Which I think is so dumb because El is a flawed character and that’s a big part of what makes her interesting. Discussing her mistakes doesn’t mean that we hate her, in fact I would go as far as to say that people who recognize her flaws and love her for them care about El more than fake-woke Twitter feminists who try to strip her of all her less than perfect qualities. And don’t even get me started on how acceptable homophobia is in the Melvin fandom. The way that they shit on Will all the time and want to erase him and have him die in the name of “supporting women” is disgusting and idk why Bylers try so hard to cater to these people and just get along. There is no need and there shouldn’t be any desire to get along with homophobes. It’s okay to just hate things and it’s not morally wrong to dislike Melvin and want to stay far away from it.
Mmmm. Well first off I appreciate your honesty and want to (sorry for phrasing it the therapist way lmao) hold space for your irritation with how ignorant people can be in fandom spaces, because it is very real—and especially given the complicated history mlm ships carry in fandom historically, I can see how byler being pigeonholed into the same "you just want to get rid of the girl for your mlm ship" space is frustrating as hell, especially now that it's officially semi-canon.
Also, to your point about El: I agree that there are far too many people who behave as though acknowledging that characters (especially female ones) can be multi-faceted + make mistakes / be imperfect is somehow tantamount to a misogyny, even though good characters (male or female) must have internal challenges and conflicts so they aren’t one-note in the narrative. Too many people act as though their personal resonance or projection onto a character should define everyone else’s understanding and analysis of that character, and that’s something that happens a lot with El, especially in the case of the space she occupies in relationship to Byler.
Personally, I've avoided most of that discourse by not engaging with Byler "versus" Mlvn conversations for the most part, but that I still notice and react to myself when it comes into my space—particularly the "you're misogynistic or ableist" conversation, considering almost all of that is rooted in headcanons and projections, and not El's (or Mike's...or Will's) canonical characterization. You’re completely right to want to stay far away from that kind of discourse/energy—staying away from how I’ve kept myself sane and enjoying st in spite of how chronically online some of the fandom's takes can be.
I don't think there is any solution to it (people are like that in every fandom space, and I don't think they're gonna stop being willfully ignorant or heteronomative now), but...it helps that I know most of the argument surrounding "byler is trying to get rid of El" is based on either not knowing the show, unchecked emotion, or poor media comprehension, because media literate analysis makes it clear that all three characters involved are deeply complex, growing individuals whose stories all have their own purpose—El's is just moving independent, while Mike & Will's are moving toward each other.
People who don't understand or can't see that—or who want to start arguments over byler based on nothing but their understanding of other mlm ships, or their need to posture solely for the sake of being "right" on the internet—are, quite frankly, not people I'm trying to converse with if I can help it. I don't need to be an advocate for byler badly enough to put up with any of that lmao.
Thanks for the ask!

Red Bottle Brew Pub vs Rusty Bin Bar
There are two bars in my town I'd like to discuss. One where it's socially acceptable to drink, and one where it's not. First, Red Bottle Brew Pub. Here, you will be greeted at the door by a smiling young hostess dressed in the standard issue company shirt. She is saving money for college right now. Some of the staff are in similar situations to your hostess. Others are idealists working a few nights a week because they want to support the local entrepreneur and quality microbrews. Their wages will be deposited into a savings account that will be used to pay the mortgage or travel the world. Only a few staff are truly working to make ends meet. You sit down at the table and for $3.50 you can enjoy a 16 oz. fine microbrew. Surrounded by all your white, educated friends, you can feast upon local sausages, burgers made from grass fed beef, and all sorts of other health foods. The decor creates a wholesome environment where you can bring your kids or enjoy an after work beer or two with your coworkers before headed home to your white picket fence, golden retriever, and warm bed. Any excessive drinking at the Brew Pub is not seen as a personal fault or moral evil. It is a well deserved way of winding down and having fun after a long day of work. Anything you may do in your inebriated state will be laughed off once the hangover wears off. There are no judgements passed here.
However, head down the street to the Rusty Bin and you'll find a much different environment. It is not the extreme of course, go a little further down the street, almost to the other side of the tracks, and you'll find Flint's, where the true low-lifes and alchies hang out. I've yet to patronize this establishment as it has been deemed truly unacceptable, and even dangerous by my former place of employment. So I'll have to describe it's whiter, slightly classier counterpart, the Rusty Bin.
Here, behind the bar you will see young women with low cut shirts and tight jeans. They flirt with the customers, knowing it will bring in the big tips. They rely on these tips to support their children. The Rusty Bin has a surprising number of beers on tap, but it appears everyone is drinking Coors Light, after all it is cheap. The jukebox plays the same Red Hot Chili Peppers song over and over again. The menu consists of an array of deep fried favorites designed to absorb the alcohol, but leave you thirsty for more. When you come to the Rusty Bin after work, you are blowing your paycheck, not drinking a well deserved beer. Excessive drinking is frowned upon by those who see you leaving the bar. Shouldn't you be spending that money to pay your bills, not blowing it on beer?
Yes, I've just made a lot of gross generalizations. Maybe my perceptions are inaccurate, but let me tell you what I see and feel when I'm spending time in each location. At the brew pub, somehow I see fakery. I see people with invisible walls around them. Forced smiles and behaviors learned since childhood of how to look, what to say, what not to say. Somehow, the Rusty Bin seems to much more real. People laugh, cry, pour out their souls in a way I can't describe. Somehow life's pain is very palpable in the Rusty Bin and no one tries to hide it behind their middle class values.
There's a guy named Joey who I have run into a few times at the Rusty Bin, who also had been staying at the homeless shelter I worked at on and off. The first time I saw him, he was drunk by the time my friend and I arrived. He came to talk to us and offered to buy us a beer. We refused of course, but he proceeded to ask, "what's wrong with letting a homeless guy buy you a beer?" We couldn't say no then. Yes, we knew he had very little money. And because he was drunk, he wouldn't be allowed back into the shelter that night. But he wanted to buy us a beer. He drinks, we drink, so why not sit down and do it together instead of trying to pretend that the other doesn't do it. It seemed okay to drink with him because we were being real to who we were.
The next time I saw Joey at the Rusty Bin was quite the experience. My friends and I had been drinking elsewhere all night and so had he. As soon as we arrived, we started drinking with Joey. Soon he asked us to go out back and smoke. A few minutes later, I was not only drunk, but also high, but the conversation that ensued for that few minutes behind the Rusty Bin was one that I would never give up. Here we were, two middle class, college educated white girls, smoking pot with a homeless guy who stayed at the shelter at which we worked. Suddenly, the conversation became very real. (Or felt so, because of the pot.) We all acknowledged that we drink and smoke. Somehow this was okay for my friend and I, but not for Joey. Joey pointed to the roof next door and told us that was where he would be sleeping. It's where he always stayed when he needed to drink and didn't have any other place to go. When I talked about how that wasn't fair, Joey just shrugged and said, "That's the way it is." My friend and I told Joey that when we work at the shelter we felt like we had to put on airs and pretend that we didn't drink or smoke pot. We do, we just can't talk about it. Joey said he just had to respect those boundaries. It was such a real conversation and I just wish it could have happened sooner.
