i tell sid looking at him is like drinking water when i'm thirsty. when we were long distance i told him i see his face in the sun like the baby in teletubbies. i tell him there's a little sid living in my heart for me to take care of. like if my heart was one of those cuckoo clocks shaped like a house that a tiny polly pocket sized sid lived in. but if i think abt it probably the most insane way for me to say it is i wish i could be him (temporarily) like a body swap situation so i could experience the world the way he does and see how his brain works for myself bc i think it would be so beautifully him. but instead i'm on the outside scribbling notes in my mind abt everything i notice abt him bc i want to capture his essence so badly. i want to know him as fully as i can. i always think abt how crazy it is he's in that head and i'm in this head and we can't ever fully know what's going on in there but he's the closest one to ever know mine. ok this turned out longer than i thought thank you take care

hi there! i saw your comment on the post about being more mature than your parents. my mom also runs a daycare from our home and i’ve never really come across other ppl’s experiences with that before. it feels like a really unique and stressful home situation i’ve never really had anyone to share with besides my sister. would love to hear more about your experiences if you feel comfortable sharing!

Hey! Sorry I saw this ages ago but was busy at the time and forgot about it!

Overall I generally enjoyed my mom’s daycare, she started it after my first little sister was born, I being about 3 at the time, so the daycare was my normal. One thing I’m proud of my mom for doing was making her daycare educational, and teaching the kids how to read and write in fun ways, so I think she did a pretty good job!

There was some stress on me as the eldest daughter, but I wasn’t always the eldest child there, my mom took care of “big kids” too, but eventually around grade 5 or so I was the oldest one and I took on a lot of responsibilities. I liked it for the most part, these kids felt like my younger siblings and I think growing up in this environment developed my maternal instincts a lot. 

So tbh, I can’t think of too many negative experiences for me during this time, but for my mom it really seemed to stress her out and I can see how that’s effected her and her self esteem. I don’t want to get too far into my mom’s personal history, but basically her dad was an abusive ass and I cant help but wonder if that rubbed off on her and how she, never physically, would take her anger out on her own kids. My mom more than anyone came to resent the daycare the most I think, while still caring for these kids and trying to keep our household together.
