hngnghh been thinking about wallflowers by @cubic-tree and how injuries manifest on the soulmates,,, I've been brainrotting over this specific place for and injury for no reason
Tumblr media
okay there is a reason, I thought it would look really cool. anyway I was reading and it Seems like jimmy and tango have the same flowers so I did that. also. the addition of golden rods,,, other than the symbolic meaning matching the progression of their relationship look at this
Tumblr media
so close to solidango, which would have been really funny.
also also, dark brown is actually ink with glitter in it. I spent like 20 minutes carefully layering browns in the top part of the eye b4 realizing I had glitter ink and making the (correct) decision to leave all of that behind so his eyes sparkle. anyway the flowers are supposed to be white carnations marigold and golden rod

Once again...Black users (and a great deal of those Black users Black trans women) as well as sex workers are the canaries in the coal mine. Because there was a sweeping disappearance of Black blogs orchestrated by the site and officially justified by "Russian interference" (as in those Black bloggers were conveniently branded as bots). Even though the little bit of Russian interference there was showed up under the form of organized white supremacists. Then the FESTA-SOSTA bill came along, a bill that should have gotten the same attention than KOSA, because it opened the floodgates and was largely responsible for the erasure of sex workers on Tumblr and the fight against any type of nudity, at the same time there is an increase of porn bots and non consensually taken nudes and other videos. It took years of escalation for a lawsuit to be filed, when if all of Tumblr, as in, its user base, had congealed around the disappearance of Black blogs, maybe we would be nowhere near those vicious catastrophes. A lot of the Black users exterminated...were Black cis women and Black trans women. The pattern has been very clear on Twitter, it's now happening in Tumblr in different ways. Once again canaries in the coal mine and all...

The Gut Feeling
Soap MacTavish x Reader
⚠️MODERN WARFARE THREE SPOILERS⚠️
Reader (Nicknamed Klepto for her scavenging skills) has a tendency to sense terrible events before they happen.
°•°•°•°•°
Klepto stood behind the others, leaning against a table full of weapons and gear. She wasn't listening as Laswell and Price spoke about whatever move they were making next, and her focus was suddenly brought back when Soap came and leaned up next to her.
"You good, lass?" He asked, quietly so they others wouldn't be interrupted. Klepto nods.
"Just thinking... Too much has been happening lately."
"Aye," MacTavish agreed with a sigh, moving his gaze to the others who were discussing some suspicious shipment at the moment. "The sooner we catch this bastard, the sooner I can rest easy."
"Same here." Klepto breathed. "I've got that feeling again."
"The stomach thing?" Soap raises a brow, looking over at the woman. "Like before Graves turned on us?"
"Exactly like that," She nods. "But twice as strong and it hasn't stopped for a week. I think something bads about to happen."
"We should let Price know."
"What good will that do? 'Hey, Cap. I don't feel so good, can I sit out this mission? No I know we need to kill this ultranationalist before he kills more civilians, but my tummy hurts.'" She elbowed Soap gently in the ribs, who pushed her back with the same amount of force.
"No, we should tell him you've got that... premonition again."
"Premonition?" Soap nods in response.
"That gut feeling of yours have saved my life quite a few times now. I know better than ignore your stomachaches."
"It's saved you?" Klepto asked, glancing st Price as he looked their way.
"Aye. It saved me in Las Almas. Twice. And in Chicago, and again in Verdansk." He lists them off on his fingers, about to speak again when Klepto waves her hand.
"But that doesn't mean Laswell and Price will just... what, stop everything? Because I seem to have an acute sense of danger?"
"They just might rethink their plans." Soap shrugs, clapping a hand on her shoulder and leading her towards the team. "Can't hurt to mention it."
Klepto just hums and nods, allowing MacTavish to lead her to the group. The conversation seemed to have lulled to a stop as they stepped into the circle.
"And what were you two discussing over there?" Price tilted his head, half teasing the pair. It was no secret they had a soft spot for each other.
"Klepto's sixth sense has been going haywire recently." Soap patted her shoulder before lowering hand. Ghost leans his head back with a slight nod, knowing full well about her 'sixth sense.' Everyone else just looked confused.
"She can always tell before something terrible is about to happen." Ghost grunts out, drawing the groups attention back to himself. "Took us a while to figure out that's what it meant. She's our very own canary in the coal mine."
"I just think something going to go wrong here. I can feel it. But I understand if that's not enough to act on, Captain." She nods at Price, trying to convey some kind of desperation in her eyes. "Still, I ask you not to take this lightly. I've never felt it this strongly before."
"We can't stop what's coming." Price shakes his head. "We can't afford to back out on this one. But we'll be especially careful, I can promise you that."
"I understand." She frowns. "This is too important."
"Right." Price went back to discussing the hacker Makarov had been working with. It seemed he was in London, and the taskforce was hoping to catch him this time...
°•°•°•°•°•°•°
The feeling was only getting worse. They were pushing through the train tunnel, Soap and Klepto following the Captain's lead. Between dodging fire from the Konni soldiers and the trains passing through every so often, Klepto was finding it hard to focus on anything happening.
The squad reached a point in the tunnel where the Konni men seemed to be staying in place. As they cleared the place, Soap pointed out that they were guarding a bomb, and Klepto's stomach did a flip.
"This is it!" She yelled, firing on an enemy and watching him bite the dust. "I feel it."
"I'll defuse the bomb. You two cover me!" Soap yelled sliding into place next to the bomb. More soldiers came from behind the team, and Price and Klepto laid down cover fire as Soap got to work on the bomb.
She planted herself right between Soap and the incoming troops, firing into the clouds of smoke that the enemy had popped. Soap called for Price to come help with the bomb, but Klepto didn't move from her post. She felt damn near nauseous now, the feeling only worsening as Ghost called through the radio.
Makarov was here. And he was closing in.
She back herself closer to the bomb, and her teammates with it. She focused all her attention on the tunnel ahead of her, trying to swallow down the feeling of illness climbing up her throat. Suddenly a shots rang out and a bullet slipped past Klepto- hitting Soap right on the plating.
Price tried to get Soap to return fire, but Soap argued he couldn't due to the bomb. Klepto took her place firing back at the enemy until it was clear and Price returned to the bomb.
Just as the two were about to defuse the bomb, footsteps and a gunshot came from behind Klepto, and she turned to see Soap falling to the ground as Makarov made a run for Price. One of Makarov's men fired at Klepto, and as she tried to hit them back, the bullet hit her shoulder and she went down.
Makarov tried to shoot Price, but as Klepto was recovering from her wound, so was Soap. MacTavish stood and leapt at Makarov with a knife, plunging it into the man's shoulder. Makarov grabbed Soap's arm, breaking it and raising his gun right to Soap's temple.
By this time, Klepto was on her feet, but she had lost her weapon. Still, she knew had to move, and she dropped her uninjured shoulder in front of her, charging at the man aiming at MacTavish.
Makarov's gun went off just before her hit the ground, and Klepto threw herself on top of the man. She landing punch after punch to his face before Makarov's soldiers reacted. One of them fired at her, hitting her right in the chest plate and knocking her off the man. As Makarov stood up, the second team suddenly came barreling behind them, shooting down the Konni.
The enemy took off running, and Gaz and Price ran quickly to the bomb. As much as they both wanted to give chase, defusing the explosive took priority.
The two cut the wires and the bomb deactivated, leaving Gaz with a sigh of relief. Captain Price seemed to take a moment before turning to Soap, Ghost, and Klepto.
Ghost was kneeling next to Soap's body, and Klepto sat with his head pulled into her lap. She had a piece of cloth ripped from a shirt held to his head, and Ghost moved his hand away from Soap's neck.
"Is he-?" Gaz asked, unable to finish his question.
"He's alive." Ghost breathed heavily. "Broken arm and a graze to his head, but he's alive."
"Thank fucking God." Price groaned, standing over the rest of the team. Gaz knelt down to put pressure on Klepto's shoulder, chastising her for ignoring her own wounds as she was losing blood.
"All stations- this is Bravo in the blind. Threat neutralized. Bomb is safe. Two WIA." Price huffed into his comms, as Gaz took Klepto's weight upon himself as he helped her stand.
"He's okay." She mumbled, feeling dizzy from blood loss. "He's okay."
"You won't be, if we don't get you medEVAC soon." Ghost grumbled, lifting Johnny up as well. Price led the way, gun raised as the rest of his team limped to freedom behind him.

I love them RRAAHHH !!! 💖💥🚨✨
*Turns them in to birds continuously🪶👐*
Tumblr media
Recap: Simon is a wren & Betty a tucan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As iceking Simon is a snowy owl cause ofc that just fits the most but with a few subtle wren leaning design features like his stance I'll prob add something to his pattern laterz
I also came up with a tiny manticore design yay (3 !!!💖 His human half is now a Canary so I can make my obligatory "canary in a coal mine" references when he's stuck with Betty & Magic/kingman (I made sure to keep his design far away from how I draw griffins :D👍)
*** I made a peacock magicman design and kiwi Finn but I got no drawing I want to show off yet! If you got AT bird ideas pls tell me ^u^ (I'm only transforming more humanoid characters)

Endgame
I stopped blogging this drama some time ago because nothing new seemed to be happening. Oh, there was tons of telenovela drama, but none of it was "moving the needle" to quote Meghan. Even the Lady C and Tom Bower books were not very interesting, at least to me. I think they were significant in that they shone a spotlight on the various lies and misinterpretations, which I think helped flip the narrative on these two idiots, but if you've been following the shenanigans closely, as I have, they had few surprises.
I do have posts on the Netflix documentary because those had real revelations. However, I think this The Hill article is the real game changer. The Eye of Sauron has turned itself upon them, so to speak.
Tumblr media
Those are pretty strong words, and so are these:
Tumblr media
"U.S. national security." Wowza.
What's interesting is that a few days ago, this was The Hill's viewpoint:
Tumblr media
Way back in December 19th this was a "you" problem in the eyes of the Washington establishment (which is what The Hill represents), now suddenly it's an "us" problem. What changed?
Well, this IPSO poll came out in the UK, showing that the documentary did not affect royal popularity at all. The Brits are calling it inaccurate and the personal popularity numbers were not affected at all.
https://www.ipsos.com/en-uk/britons-more-likely-judge-harry-and-meghan-documentary-inaccurate-depiction-events-crown
Tumblr media
YouGov also got positive results for the monarchy.
Tumblr media
I haven't seen similar polls regarding the Commonwealth though, but I bet they were done and I bet the results weren't good. The documentary got strong international ratings and the Harkles are going to find out that success is a double-edged sword.
It's going to be interesting to see where this goes. So far, the results are encouraging. Hello, Colonel Kate!
Tumblr media
Trooping isn't until June but that got announced in December, which is fascinating.
And Charles' coronation was budget friendly back in October, but it will now be "glorious" pomp and pageantry showcasing UK plc and, no doubt, the Commonwealth.
Harry effed around and now he is going to find out that attacking the family is fun gossip that important people don't care about but attacking an institution that is part of the US national security establishment is a different matter altogether. A lot of people are now going to reassess their tacit support of the Harkles.
It will take a while because no one will admit Harry's Invictus role was axed because of a Netflix drama or internet trolling during the Wales' Caribbean tour, but that will be the eventual result. It will take years and it will be camouflaged as a "reorganization" or "rethinking" of the organization (everything military is now in flux as the establishment analyzes the implications of the Ukraine war) but he's going to be out. Notice that Sunshine Sachs leapt out of the sinking ship way back in September. That was likely the canary in the coal mine.
https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/20220924150955/meghan-markle-parts-ways-sunshine-sachs-pr-firm/
I doubt anyone reads this blog anymore since so many fantastic people are covering this drama now, but I'm compulsive about completing tasks so I'll be covering the endgame (as Scobie would put it, although the monarchy will not be the one losing this game).

The Canary, Coal Mine, and Coal Miner
As most people in the life series fandom know, Jimmy is the Canary of the series. He is the warning to everyone else that death is coming. I would say less people probably know of Tango being represented as the Coal Mine, though it is still fairly popular. And same thing with people knowing of Mumbo being the Coal Miner. Those all fit, and I will explain how so. But I’d also like to add one more that I personally haven’t seen anyone else specifically put a name to. The Carbon Monoxide of this idea.
The Canary.
In coal mines canaries were used to warn of carbon monoxide. If they stopped singing that gave a warning to the coal miners that they needed to leave.
So, Jimmy is the Canary because his death is that warning. His death is him losing his voice. Only once he dies does it hit people that there is danger in store. That death is coming and hurt is coming and they need to prepare.
2. The Coal Mine.
Tango is the Coal Mine. He doesn’t necessarily mean to cause the danger to Jimmy, but he does. They’ve had encounters and damage has been dealt. He doesn’t mean to fully harm his Canary, but he can’t help it. In Double Life he tried to protect Jimmy the most. And when it comes the the danger he brings, he wants the Canary to stay away from him, so if he has to deal some damage to scare him off in other seasons, he will. The Coal Mine can’t protect his Canary, but he will keep him close to his heart in the end.
3. The Coal Miner.
Mumbo is the Coal Miner. He specifically, is a loyal Coal Miner. Immediately after Jimmy dies, then Mumbo does. He’s struck by panic and shock and grief and can’t process what’s going on. So he stays too close until it’s quickly too late. Sure his loyalty is accidental, but he is too broken by the death of the Canary to not be loyal in the moment. He has to call out for the Canary even if he’s gone. Resulting in him being too focused on the death to defend from the coming danger.
4. The Carbon Monoxide.
Now, because the Coal Mine itself doesn’t want to cause the danger, someone has to be the proper danger. Someone has to be the Carbon Monoxide.
And out of everyone there’s only really one person who fits that. The person who was involved with all but one of Jimmy’s permanent deaths. That death they weren’t involved with being in Double Life. Where the Coal Mine could provide more protection and help. But even then, they still were around for one of Jimmy’s deaths that season. So, who is the Carbon Monoxide?
Well, of course, it’s Grian.
Around for when Jimmy died for the 3rd Life battle. Killed Jimmy in Last Life. Around for Jimmy’s second death in Double Life. Next to Jimmy for his Limited Life death. And the one to help with the Warden who killed Jimmy in Secret Life.
Grian brings the danger that Jimmy experiences. He is the Carbon Monoxide. And he means it, unlike the Coal Mine.
So yeah! I don’t believe anyone else has given Grian this name to this yet, but if someone has please let me know!! This came to me while just mindlessly rambling about the Canary stuff and I thought it was something I should share!! I would also like to say, I don’t like the idea of these being called curses besides the Canary curse. If you call everything a curse, it loses its meaning. It’s just a pattern and good to create a poetic connection between these characters. There is a high likelihood that something will happen in a next season that contradicts this, and thats fine because right now it fits. It’s just a fun idea to toy around with.

One of my favorite things about the life series — aside from the everything — is how fluid the narrative is and how it’s primarily shaped by the fanbase. Because of this, you can maintain multiple contradicting theories with minimal concern about starting an argument or being proven wrong, it’s great
For example, I have two separate interpretations of Jimmy not being first out of Secret Life. I love them both to death and I don’t have to choose (at least for now)
1. the curse isn’t broken (lizzie)
This theory (introduced in this post) is essentially that Lizzie’s final death doesn’t break Jimmy’s curse. The canary’s curse is to be a warning of impending doom, to die to signal danger to miners within caves. Jimmy was still the first to die in the Overworld, the first funeral, the first lightning strike. Lizzie died in the End, a tragic accident that went unnoticed for seconds if not minutes. She died in the void like no player before. The End has not been in play in any prior season, and the Watchers are known to have a special relationship with it. Is it possible she escaped their notice? That her death was beyond their reach? Beyond the bounds of the game? Jimmy has always been the first to die, a warning to others that death is coming, but what meaning does the canary’s call — or lack of it — have to those beyond the coal mine?
2. the curse is broken (skizz)
I noted (in this post) when episode four first came out that Skizz said something unexpected, something with unusual confidence behind it. He called Jimmy a winner, commended his fighting spirit, and told him things would be different this time. He truly believed in Jimmy, and, possibly more importantly, got Jimmy to believe in himself. Fans have consistently interpreted Skizz’s character as angelic — as kind, honest, pure, good, steadfast, sacrificial, and selfless. Between his pattern with threes (being in every season except the third, having three deaths in the first episode of Limited Life, etc.) and the pattern known as “Skizz’s Blessing,” (where the winner of each season was there when he died) it’s easy to see why. His words historically have weight in the games, take “TIES makes top three” for example. Whether he predicts or dictates events as we know them, we don’t know, but it doesn’t seem to matter. When Skizz speaks there is truth we don’t see anywhere else. He is an omen of victory, all the sweeter in Jimmy’s case considering Skizz was the one to end his series — end anyone’s series — for the very first time.
(Note that I gotta go back and fact check the other patterns/curses I reference, these may be edited accordingly)

The life series has truly ruined canaries for me. every time I think about canaries the only thing I think about is the silly failure minecraft man.
The new magnus protocol episode came out, and everytime somebody mentions the canary symbolism all that comes to mind is jimmy solidaritygaming but covered in too many eyes.
Every time I hear canary in a coal mine by the crane wives all I can imagine is jimmy doing a bad karaoke solo while waiting by his sad miserable failure self in the void for all of his friends to die too.

⚠️🚨WARNING UTY SPOILERS AHEAD🚨⚠️
Clover is such an interesting character and silent protagonist. They are selfless, compassionate, kind, brave, and most importantly they are just. All of this is shown through the actions they take throughout all the routes and the little bits of dialogue we get. That being said, I want to put them under a microscope and analyze their whole being, dissecting them one by one till I understand how we can get so much personality from this little guy.
For today's analysis, I'm going to be using Canary in a Coal Mine by The Crane Wives (one of my favorite songs) to help put my thoughts in a coherent way and because I personally think that it suits Clover well. The song is rather short since it mostly comprises of instrumental sections with little bits of lyrics in between them which honestly does remind me of Clover and their very few sections of dialogue.
Right off the bat, the second verse of the song hits us with,
"But I still hold out hope that maybe someday,
I'll be worth more than all the silence left in my way".
Before I get into how that relates to Clover, I'm going to first explain how I interpret Clover's past. During the game, little hints of Clover's past are given when interacting with certain objects, such as the couch and TV in the Feisty Five's house and the sink at the Ketsukane mansion. When interacting with the TV and couch, we can infer that Clover's living conditions were not the greatest with them being reminded of cramped living spaces and having their favorite channel be static. On the other hand, when interacting with the sink, they are reminded of the duties they used to have back on the surface and the people they used to live with. All of these small hints lead me to believe that Clover came from a dysfunctional family who did not have the proper capabilities to support a child, this could have resulted in Clover being neglected and having to grow up to be independent.
This conclusion is supported by the fact that Clover when given the opportunity to, chooses to stay in the Underground with the exception of Pacifist. The two monsters who ask them to stay are Toriel, as shown by Flowey during the Neutral route and the secret ending that you can get if you stay for more then 5 minutes in the room you fell down in after pulling the lever, and Martlet in the Neutral route and Pacifist route. These are both characters who show and give Clover positive attention. I find it hard to believe that a child who climbed Mt. Ebott to find the five missing children and has the soul of justice would give up their mission that easily if they weren't starved from affection and attention.
This verse easily relates to Clover going to the Underground not only to seek justice for the fallen humans but also to be recognized and be given the attention they crave, whether it's by returning the missing children or by the monsters that lay below.
"Feed me promises, keep my heart well,
I'll sing you songs until the darkness does recede"
Can easily be connected to Clover just by playing the game. "Feed me promises, keep my heart well," can be seen through the way most of the main UTY cast promises or tells Clover that they'll help them to get back on the surface such as Martlet, but I relate this particular lyric to Ceroba, especially during the Steamworks.
Ceroba throughout the Steamworks tells Clover of Kanako, Chujin, and her supposed plan of rescuing Kanako from the lab which is the reason Clover even goes through Steamworks during Pacifist (and Neutral if you kill Axis) aside from the fact that it's the only way to get to New Home. She tells all of this to Clover when in truth her actual plan was to steal their soul to hopefully heal Kanako after she fell down and got sent to the lab. Clover has no clue of this and during the trip, Ceroba keeps them safe and even helps them on several occasions such as fending off Axis.
"I'll sing you songs until the darkness does recede" connects to Clover constantly assisting Ceroba in puzzles, exploration, and in battle (Guardener's fight). Additionally, this also applies to the other events before this where Clover helps other monsters in their problems in the mines and around the Honeydew Resort (if you did the side quest of getting the silver bandana).
"But if in the end I lose my voice
Will you forget about your love for me?"
This hurts me to think about since it's so angsty but let's get on with it. This very obviously can be applied to Clover thinking that without their supposed 'usefulness' they would be discarded and returned to being ignored. This especially when they find out about Ceroba's true plan and Chujin's tape, all regarding their soul and how it could save Kanako and help monsterkind regain their freedom. During this, Clover is hurt but at this point they've made up their mind. At this point of the game, I believe Clover already knows what the end of their journey holds and what they're going to do.
After Ceroba's fight and in the True Pacifist ending as the cast is arguing on how they can keep Clover, Clover decides to sacrifice their soul, their very being, their use. To bring justice to monsterkind and help in bringing them closer to the surface, they give up their soul. This was their purpose and if they didn't do this, they would've been useless. After all, this was the reason why Ceroba befriended them and why Martlet tried to capture them. Seven human souls are needed and they are the sixth. They most likely think that if they weren't human, Starlo wouldn't be interested in them.
"And when you break the surface, oh, without me
Please don't return me to the dark of all the memories, yeah"
This one is self explanatory and the lyric that hurts me the most when I think about Clover with this song. Clover's sacrifice is essential to freeing the monsters and that means they would not be able to join the rest of the cast. Despite this, they still choose to give up their soul, giving them the chance to see the rising sun that has been stolen away from them all those centuries ago. I don't think any of the UTY cast would forget about their selfless sacrifice post UT True Pacifist when the barrier is broken.
"Know that all my love will be your breath
I will save you when your lights go out"
Again, this could apply to the UTY cast but I raise another scenario. It could be aimed towards Frisk calling for help and Clover answering the call, saving Frisk from Flowey when they had no one to turn to. This is canon in both UT and UTY seen in the post end credits scene of the True Pacifist route.
Thank you for reading me yap about Clover and one of my favorite songs for like 1.2k words and I hope you understand where I'm coming from when I say this song is so Clover-coded. Also @loud-whistling-yes I hope you enjoy this analysis and I once again repeat, YOU ARE SO RIGHT AND YOU GET ME!!

So, this fanart has some story to it, so buckle up. It comes from a pattern I noticed in all the Life Series that I haven’t seen anyone point out.
Every single series, Martyn is fully killed (killed on red) by the person who wins that season. In Double Life Pearl killed Cleo, which killed him. In Last Life, Scott killed him.
Now Third Life is interesting. Grian didn’t kill Martyn. But in Martyn’s lore, it’s implied that Grian was not supposed to participate in Third Life. He wasn’t supposed to win. He was supposed to watch and cause more chaos and destruction. So, who is that last survivor after Grian? Scar. And who killed Martyn in Third Life? Scar did.
I know everyone likes Jimmy’s “Canary in a Coal Mine” curse, but honestly, I think this is a much more interesting pattern. Whoever kills Martyn wins. He has to die for them to survive. Hence the name “The Scapegoat” curse.
I wanted to make this post before the new life series came out, so I hope you enjoyed my theory. I might make some more tarot card themed fanart to go with more theories of mine, but who knows.

Uhhh still don't have much on Fragile Life. But I thought I'd detail the tamagotchi pets each member has.
Scott: seal. It was hard to pick for Scott admittedly so I went with seal because some of my fav fanarts of him is Limited Life selkie styled Scott.
Gem: deer. She really is just deer coded.
Pearl: wolf. Tilly beloved.
Grian: parrot. He is the pesky bird.
Tango: moth. Most fanarts I see have him like a moth if they go for a more animal theme.
Martyn: dog. A nod to the big dogs. I would have maybe gave him a cat, but that's Scar's so no overlap.
Jimmy: canary. Canary in a coal mine, may I say more?
Scar: cat. Scar's was very easy as around the time I came up with this au was also around the time we lost Jellie. So I wanted her to always be part of him, and so, she's his virtual pet in this au.
Lizzie: axolotl. Based on her Empires Season 1 theme.
Joel: frog. Swamp :) it was either that or snail, couldn't find many animals for him.
Cleo: snake. I can't resist snake hair.
Etho: coyote. Wolf was already taken by Pearl, and being a Canadian myself when I was younger I used to confuse coyotes and wolves. So I thought it'd be silly lil "canadian wolf" moment.
Impulse: winner of the poll for his pet was pig as a nod to piglin brutes.

I have been wanting to design a Teegardian since @somerandomdudelmao introduced them! The birds <3 I love them <3
After I realized that 'Teegardian' sounds a lot like 'Tea- Garden(ian)', the design came immediately. I knew I wanted to use a real world bird as inspiration and so used a warbler, a small, often yellow songbird.
So… this is Lily. I went all out with the round shapes and fluff. I wanted her to be a very animated character (for lack of a better description). She’s always thinking out loud or singing to herself, talks with her hands, and both sets of wings emote with her. She is an absolute open book of a character with a paper-thin poker face.
I love the potential of their head wings emoting like a dog's tail or cat's ears. Hers are bigger than most Teegardians to allow for this. Speaking of cats, her fur puffs up when she's scared or agitated. Her outfit is summery with an open back for her wings.
I'm not sure of all Teegardians have an ability or if its unique to the ones with dark spots but if I were to give Lily one it would be inspired by the concept of 'the canary in the coal mine' where she can see into the future but only an hour or two at a time, like a warning. She hasn't really needed to use it much.... until now.
Lily’s name has no significance whatsoever trust me
Voice HC: Eva Noblezada (Eurydice in Hadestown)

Thinking ab how the canary tried to love the coal mine. He tried to find the humor and camaraderie in it, tried to look the other way at the cave ins and noxious fumes in favor of the peaks of sunlight from the tunnel to the surface. But you can only go so far into the unknown darkness before it starts to swallow you whole.
The canary tried to make the mines his own. A place to thrive in with people who were supposed to care for him. He tried to replace the echoes of the machines with his own song, but all he did was choke. And no one came to his rescue fast enough. No one ever does.
Jimmy tried to love the life games, but they didn't love him.

The Aro Team Rancher fic
(1748 words, no tws that i can think of)
It was, admittedly, very hard to feel guilty around Tango.
He was so forgiving, so casual about everything. Every time Jimmy messed up, every time he broke a tool or accidentally killed an animal, every time he thought he'd blown it for sure, Tango would just shrug it off, grin that needle-sharp grin at him and tell him it was alright, everyone made mistakes.
It was hard to feel guilty around Tango, but not impossible.
And Jimmy was nothing if not a guilty man.
First of all, he felt bad that Tango was stuck with him, instead of anyone else. He had been so close with Impulse and Bdubs in the past, and he was good friends with both Grian and Scar. Surely one of them would have made a better soulmate.
Besides, Jimmy had the curse hanging over his head at all times: he was the first to die, every time, and Tango didn't deserve that. He deserved a winning chance, not to be tied to the canary in the coal mine, farming cows in an ugly dirt hut. He had to be bitter, even if he was too nice to say it.
Worst of all, even if you ignored the curse, even if you pretended that they had a shot at winning, there was the fact that Jimmy- although he hated himself for it- just didn't like Tango.
He "liked" him, sure: the older man was kind and warm, and when they cuddled at night, Tango let him steal the blankets, but he didn't like him in the right way. He didn't love him.
He knew what love looked like, he'd seen Joel with Lizzie, he knew the gentle looks and soft touches that came with it, but he didn't know if he even wanted… that. He didn't know if he wanted someone to love him, knowing that if he messed up, they could leave him so easily. Or, worse, if they stayed, and he lost interest or realized he never had any to begin with, what then? Would he have to tell them he was wrong, that his love had been fake, conditional, wrong?
Tango was his soulmate, they were supposed to be perfect for each other but, truthfully, Jimmy wasn't sure they were.
He thought, once or twice, about the concept of dating Tango, maybe even marrying him, just to see how it sat with him, and both times, he was left with a bitter taste in his mouth.
He'd get sick of his voice first, he thought. The strange buoyant cadence with which the fairy spoke was calming, usually, but at some point, in the grand scheme of forever, it'd get old.
He wasn't sure what Tango thought of their relationship.
He hadn't said anything to Jimmy about it, but… they were soulmates. Surely, he expected romance. Impulse and Bdubs, Tango’s closest friends, were married already, only days in, and Tango spent more than enough time at their place to no doubt get ideas about what a soul bond should or shouldn’t be. He'd also called Jimmy "babe" a few times, never in a conspicuous way, always just mid-sentence, but that was a romantic thing, so…
Jimmy had to do something.
He had to tell Tango, had to inform him that he didn’t want to be with him like that, because he was broken, and wrong, and didn’t love correctly.
But he wasn't sure how to do that.
They were soulmates, after all.
They were supposed to love each other.
They had to.
So he kept his mouth shut.
They were working on the house when it finally came up. The door wouldn't hang straight no matter how Tango tried, so he asked Jimmy to come take a look.
"Here, look here," Tango ran a long, thin finger over the top of the door frame. "Look at the gap. I don't know how to fix that."
"Uh," Jimmy said, trying his absolute best to remember how Scott had fixed it, back in Third Life. "I think… I don't know…"
Tango looked at him, his yellow eyes glittering unknowably for a moment. Jimmy braced himself for the insult, the cruel words, but then he shrugged.
“Ah well, damn it,” The older man chuckled, shrugging a shoulder casually. “I’ll message Impulse, see if he can come look at it. No harm, no foul.”
“Right,” Jimmy said, and then, weakly. “Sorry.”
“For what?” Tango huffed, stepping down from the chair he was balanced on and dragging it back to the crooked table. “I didn’t know either.”
“So maybe we’re both idiots,” Jimmy muttered, halfheartedly rapping his knuckles against the top of the door frame. “Good for us.”
Tango’s face screwed up at that. “Jim, babe, don’t say that.”
“Sorry,” Jimmy said, again, watching him deposit a handful of scrap wood in a chest. “Why do you keep calling me that?”
“Calling you… what? Jim?”
“No, babe. Why do you call me babe?”
“Uhhh,” Tango made a face, measuring out a handful of seeds from a bag. “Would you rather I not?”
“...Yeah,” Jimmy said. That was only the tip of the iceberg of his issues, but that was enough to warn the ship. “Yeah, it’s… not my favorite.”
“Okay, I’ll stop, then,” Tango said, putting the sack of seeds back, standing up again. He stood there for a second, just looking at Jimmy, before shrugging. “Is that it? Anything else?”
“No,” Jimmy stepped aside, expecting him to walk out, but he didn’t. “That’s all.”
“You know,” Tango said, narrowing his eyes at Jimmy in thought. “You know, we’re soulmates, we’re stuck together from here on out, if you have anything else, it’s better to say it than to keep it inside.”
“I know, I know, I just-” Jimmy hummed in frustration, glaring at the wall. “I’m not good at explaining things.”
“That’s alright, I’m usually pretty good at understanding,” Tango said, setting the handful of seeds on the table. “What’s up?”
“...You know how Scott and I were married, yeah?”
“Yeah?”
Jimmy huffed, annoyed with himself now. This wasn’t so hard to say in his head, didn’t feel so catastrophically important. “I didn’t… I didn’t want to be married to him. He kind of… I don’t know, he took things too far, and I didn’t know how to tell him to stop.”
“Oh.” Tango said, his jaw tight.
“Not- not like that,” Jimmy said, quickly. “Not like that, just… and I don’t blame him, it was really my fault, but, uh…”
“Uh-huh,” Tango hummed, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Are you… okay?”
“Yes, yes, I’m fine, but, um,” Jimmy hissed out a nervous breath. “Uh, I figured that… since we’re soulmates… and since Impulse and Bdubs have already gotten married…”
Tango’s eyes widened abruptly, his mouth working for a few moments before he seemed to remember how to talk. “Are you- are you asking me to marry you-?”
“No! No, no, no, no, uh, the opposite, actually,” Jimmy said, and then, weakly. “I’m asking you… not to marry me?”
Tango blinked, before shaking his head and laughing in confusion. “Alright, you’ve lost me.”
“I want… I don’t want…” Jimmy whimpered, frustrated. His wings were pressed between his sweaty back and the wall and he took a moment to readjust them, and try to think of a way to phrase it. “There’s something wrong with me.”
“Huh?”
“I mean, like, uh. You know how people… fall in love? Like, they meet someone they like, and they spend time together, and as time goes on, they fall more and more in love with them?”
“Let me guess, you don’t?” Tango asked, something… almost hopeful in his voice.
“No, I do. I mean, I get crushes, but then they almost always… go away? Or I realize I don’t like being in a relationship at all, or I get too stressed out over it. That’s what happened with Scott, I did really like him, but once we were married, I felt… I don’t know, I felt like whatever stupid crush I had on him wasn’t… worth it?”
“...So, you get crushes, but you don't like dating?” Tango asked, leaning on the table, rubbing his chin. “Huh.”
“...Sorry,” Jimmy said, softly. “I know you… I don’t know, you probably wanted a romantic relationship.”
“Huh?” Tango looked up at him, blinking absently, before his eyebrows suddenly raised as soon as he realized what the other man had said. “What gave you that idea?”
“I don’t know, that’s what soulmates are supposed to be, yeah? Like, the person you’re supposed to love forever?”
“Uh, no?” Tango frowned. “I mean, I was kinda… I might have been dozing off when Grian explained it, but I think it’s just someone who you, y’know, click with. Sometimes that’s a romantic thing, sometimes it’s a platonic thing.”
“So you don’t… you don’t want me to love you?”
The fairy laughed at that, but not a mean laugh. “No! I’m gonna be honest, I… I don’t really know if I’m even capable of loving people like that. Romance has never actually… appealed to me? Like, if you want to cuddle someone, just get a best friend?” He shrugged a shoulder. “I dunno, but I don’t really get the hype.”
“Have you never had a crush on someone?” Jimmy asked, surprised. “Ever?”
“Not really,” Tango shook his head. “Like, my buddy Zedaph, back home? I thought I had a crush on him because he made me really happy and I liked spending time with him, but when we tried dating it just ended up being… like… the exact same thing as when we were friends? So we broke up, and nothing changed. Like, there’s no difference between romantic interest and platonic interest to me.”
“Huh,” Jimmy tilted his head curiously. “That’s… an interesting way to think about it.”
“Yeah, so,” Tango paused, before laughing. “So, it’s probably good that you don’t want to date because I would have absolutely panicked and said yes and then we’d both be miserable.”
Jimmy giggled almost hysterically at that, pressing his cold hands to his forehead in relief. “Oh my god, you have no idea how happy I am to hear that you don’t like me.”
“Oh, it’s mutual,” Tango laughed, shaking his head. “Oh, man, is it mutual.”
“In that case,” Jimmy rubbed his face one more time, still chuckling quietly. “You may call me babe.”
“Thank you,” Tango nodded at him, his needle-like teeth poking through his lips. “Thank you, I will.”
