ahh no bc re: fiction affecting your real life views im so tired of people going "but jaws!! jaws made people hate sharks!!" jaws did do damage to sharks' reputation but its a bold overstatement to say it caused people to be afraid of sharks and hate sharks and whatever. jaws exploited an already existing fear that comes from ignorance on how an animal works in real life, it didnt originate that fear and yet i keep seeing people claim thats essentially what happened. 101 dalmatians raised a demand for dalmatians by people who didnt know how to take care of them and h*rry p*tter caused a spike in the number of later abandoned/neglected pet owls. i wish these cases were examined as examples of people basing their views and actions on media that isnt and wasnt meant to be educational rather than "jaws made people hate sharks"

Likes mean nothing here on Tumblr. Reblogs are the only way others see it. I know this fandom got some young people and idk if y'all don't know Tumblr. I keep hearing that people from Twitter are coming over and don't understand how Tumblr works. I know the fandom is from TikTok and that has an I'll go with them that pushes things out I depending on engagement. That's not what Tumblr does.

I'm finally taking a fucking vacation from my job next week

#I've never gotten the chance to use my vacation time at work before quitting #but Im not currently able to leave where I work and I'll lose my PTO on my anniversary date (sept 13th) #so I decided to say fuck it an use ut the first week of September #wish I could have saved it for the second week since my birthday is September 15th but again my PTO gets reset the 13th #so this will have to do #I'm not going on an actual vacation this year. just planning various enjoyable activities and day trips throughout the week #Im hoping on the first day to attend a local flea market #and the next day or two to go swimming before the pool in my apartment complex closes for the year #I also plan to visit a historical town thats about a half hour away from where I live #and I'm definitely going to sleep in a lot of these days cause I need to catch up on some sleep finally #I'll probably draw on my less busy days #and maybe I can knock out a chapter or 2 of the story I've been writing #tbh luck is never with me so the chances of me actually getting to do half of this stuff is slim #but at least I can say I have plans #I'm gonna try n do this stuff even if I have to go alone #I hate waiting around for others so I can go out and have a good time #like yeah some of these activities are better with other people #but people often find excuses to get out of hanging out or going places. or they're busy with work #and I don't want to waste the 7 days Im gonna have off so Im gonna try n do something meaningful during them #the weather also will effect how my plans turn out. not to be the mind control guy on main but minor pet peeve: if the affected person is being puppeteered without their mind or emotions being influenced thats not mind control, its body control. someone please tell the tma fandom that. 

#the web gets called the mind control entity but most of the stuff we explicitly get 'onscreen' thats actually definitely the web involves #way more body control with maybe a light side of the person being confused as to why they are doing something bc they may not instantly or #fully understand they are being puppeted. its not that the web cant do real mc – triggering cravings for example is a more straightforward #example of canon web stuff that does count as mind control – but beyond that its all just stuff thats allegedly the web acting to cause #something which makes it hard to determine whats going on there if anything actually is and whether it counts #there is a decent amount of non-web stuff in tma i would classify as falling under the umbrella of mind control as well but half the time #people tend not to tag it as such even when centering a fic around it. arguably as an entity the web is incentivized not to do certain #forms of control bc if being able to draw fear from the controlled person is at all a priority it takes a lot of stuff off the table #its nit like body control cant fall under the umbrella but the way that a solid 70% of it is depicted in tma just doesnt. and yet its #overwhelmingly the primary thing that gets tagged as such #disappointing and annoying and actively makes it a lot more difficult to find mc stuff
