The first thing Jimmy does to save to world is get the Codvengers back together. Lizzie is guarded by a wine red sea that Jimmy can't seem to breath in, Joel is asleep and locked in his palace, and Pix is a statue of copper.

The easiest of the three would be Joel. Jimmy just has to figure out how to wake him up.

Jimmy is well versed in Mezalian history and culture, it's his brother in law after all. And he knows the mother tree, swarmed with corruption.

And it takes a couple days, calloused hands and more than a few iron hoes, but the almost dead mother tree is unearthed. Right before Jimmy's eyes it blossoms and flourishes, giving breath back to the dormant clones. The last to wake up is Joel (who bashes his head that Xornoth was REAL) and he goes with Jimmy to see if they can traverse the bloody red ocean to get to his wife and Jimmy's sister, Lizzie.

you ever have an AU idea in the shower and come up with a fic summary in your head for a fic you’ll probably never write?

anyway, fic working title “go fish”: in one universe, xornoth sees a very corruptible king with a dysfunctional support network, and chooses his side as the one where he possesses sausage. in this universe, however, he sticks around a little longer before deciding on his pawns, and sees the equally corruptible other side of the conflict, sees his brother apparently has a Thing for said very corruptible other side, and goes. yeah, sure. the codlands seem like equally decent a place to launch an invasion from. what could possibly go wrong?

in hindsight, this was a bad move, but by the time xornoth realizes this, everything has gotten far, far stupider than anyone is prepared to deal with. oh dear. oh deer. oh cod.

that’s right, it would be a corrupted jimmy comedy. presuming I still know how to write long form comedy. featuring an unwilling and unsuspecting xornoth redemption via him accidentally getting attached to the codvengers. do I have time to write this? probably not. do I remember how to write the empires cast well enough for this? hell if I know. is it another idea for my back burner pile of ideas? hell yeah, plus anyone who wants can take this idea (hell I know jimnoth was a thing people wrote sometimes, something similar probably already exists). do I keep conceiving of aus where jimmy is imminently possessable? yes, I don’t know why,

The main question is this, will Empires SMP have a third season or not?

I honestly don't know. There are good reasons why it would end and there are also good reasons why it would not. Personally, I want to wait until all of the finale episodes have been released or until Fwhip streams again. He will probably get bombarded by a variation of the same questions. There is surely a discussion behind the scenes if the content creators want to continue Empires or would they create a brand new survival SMP. If they would create a new one, we can probably expect the same set of content creators as they freely admit that they enjoy streaming and creating content together.

Personally, I believe there would be and I do want a third season of Empires after a break. Empires Season 1 and Season 2 is fun. They are different, yes, and I am on the firm opinion that Season 2 is better and more balanced than Season 1.

I want to see Empires SMP grow. Because it is getting better. Yes, Season 1 is a bang and I will never forget the Codvengers and the Wither Rose Alliance but not every SMP or every season of Empires has to be that kind of bang. Season 1 has a very strong main story, so strong that I would argue it limited many personal character storyline. Season 2 has a weaker main story but plenty of good personal character storylines. It is better integrated but in a way, the characters didn't seem to connect with everyone else. As such, it could feel isolated. I want to see the content creators strike a balance with the main story and their personal character stories. They are getting there and it's wonderful to see honestly.

Season 3 has so much potential. Content creators can make an empire together. Or they could all start in spawn and create the first empire of Season 3 before venturing off their own ways. They don't have to appear all at once, just like what happened with Oli. They could do it in a staggered manner, thus creating a false sense of time passing. Someone could immediately play as the fae. Or maybe, one of them could be the fae brought back to life. The potential is limitless.

thanks, katherine’s new episode! i have now been thinking of some very interesting things:

1. katherine refers to the salmon heads that pearl and cub got during the battle buddies initiation as “evil fish heads”, indicating that she is either trying to be polite about it (which is a conversation for another day), or she genuinely thinks salmon are evil fish. considering a couple of comments sausage and fwhip made earlier the same season, elements of the cod-salmon rivalry persist from season 1 to season 2. i wonder if glimmergrove was founded by codvenger alliance empire remnants...

2. impulse tries to sell the salmon heads as “sea monster” heads in the museum. i doubt the canonical sea monsters of the smp would be very happy about his comment...

Grian rolled surprisingly easily off the ledge to fall right in front of where Scar was messing around with Jellie.

"And... done!"

Grian clicked his tounge.

"See, look," Scar picked her up, "I gave her little spray cans and tiny headphones Cub made and-"

Jellie shook her head, dislodging the headphones.

"No! Jelllieeeeeeeee! How can you be the newest boatem member without headphones!"

Grian laughed. "You're so silly sometimes, Scar."

"You love it."

"I do."

Grian reached the roof first, but a few moments later Cub was right behind him, and once again their hands were clasped together, grounding and comforting each other. Cub pressed a kiss to Grian's temple.

The Octagon's rudie gang had an odd base of operations. Strange architectural decisons up here meant that despite technically bein open air, a lot of the walkable space up here was sheltered from the elements completely. Grian had traced the pipes in his head on previous visits and given himself a headache with it.

Across from them, Martyn was clicking away on a computer setup, frustration building til he eventually shoved himself away from the makeshift setup in frustration, rolling backwards until he found himself facing the visitors.

"Hello, Martyn." Grian said.

"What are you two doing here?" Martyn asked, tone accusatory. "We're very busy right now."

It would probably be more intimidating if Martyn hadn't still been rolling towards the edge of a sharp drop. He kicked back to stop the movement.

Grian and Cub shared a look. Because why would the Octagon be busy if not for the same reason Grian and Cub had come in the first place.

"We- ah, we come in peace." Cub said.

"Then you've come at the wrong time."

"I think we've come at the right time." Grian argued.

"Really, do you have any idea what's-"

Grian cut him off. "Scar's missing. Mumbo, too. And unless I'm mistaken you're also missing someone."

Martyn swore under his breath. "Ren. Ren's missing."

Ren was chained to a chair. This was excessive. Weren't the police officers usually more interested in shooting them than taking them in for questioning?

Just what was going on?

"This is usually the part where I ask you for information." Said the well dressed man who entered the room.

"You won't be getting anything from me." Ren growled.

"But I already have everything I could want from you." The man grinned. "Except for your obedience, of course, but I'm sure I'll get that soon enough."

What was that supposed to mean?

The song on the radio faded out, and ... oh, Scott sounded pissed.

"Jimmy's missing." Scott's voice came through everyone's headphones. "I know he's not the only one. Share any info you have because we're going to tear these bastards down."

Suddenly, Scott's voice changed to something perky, "Anyway, how about something a bit different!" The next track was not an Ariana track, a small mercy in an otherwise horrific situation.

Jimmy was curled up in a corner of the room.

Kind of pathetic for the supposed leader of the 'codvengers', if he was being honest with himself. He didn't even need to do anything.

"What can you tell me about this?" he held up a piece of a disk, shoving it in Jimmy's face.

"I don't know anything!" Jimmy hissed, showing marginally more fire than expected. Marginally. Still.

"completely fucking useless." He threw a chair across the room.

"Anything you know could help." Cub said.

Martyn and Grian held eye contact for several moments before Martyn sighed and rolled back over to the computer setup. "I don't have much of anything, but I'm working on what I can. Doc's on the streets right now- he knows he's better here than I am!"

"He's also better out there." Grian said, without thinking.

Martyn glared at Grian. "Do you want my help, or not?"

He paused to rethink his statement, a little sheepish, "I'm sure he's just worried you'd get snatched up out there, too."

Martyn made some sort of noise. "I'll tell you when I find something. Just go."

There was one pipe that started up at the roof which spiralled all the way to the ground. Last time, Grian had laughed all the way down, loving the rush.

Every disappearance Grian learned about just made him more anxious.

And okay, maybe Boatem had enemies. Maybe all of the rudies in the city were locked in a fierce turf war over it. But this... it felt bigger. Grian was scared.

Cub, when they reached the ground, didn't even try to offer any words. No 'it'll be okay' because Cub couldn't be sure of that. But the hug helped.

"We'll find everyone." Grian said. "Or die trying." A promise, a declaration, not a meaningless platitude.

You wanted someone to ask about the empires mafia au? I'm interested!

So. so. there are so little mafia aus for empires and so I woke up at three am to create hell. I have three sheets of paper on this.

So there are four main mafia groups: The Codvengers, the Wither Rose Alliance, Northern Rivendell (also called Aeor's Realm) and Southern Rivendell (also called Exor's Domain).

The Codvengers consist of Lizzie (the Ocean Queen), Jimmy (the Codfather), and Joel (the Mad King). Pix has a very strong alliance with them, but he's not explicitly in the group. The Codvengers are a more laidback group, they were tired of some of the really bad gangs so they took over them and now have a portion of the city where it's mostly peaceful and you can do what you want.

The Wither Rose Alliance have a similar philosophy, but to ensure safety they have codes and things, such as curfews that they use to keep the people safe. This is an issue of major contention with the Codvengers, who dislike their methods. They consist of Gem (the Wizard), Fwhip (the Count), and Pearl (Farmer Queen) and Sausage (Myth) to a looser extent. Pearl because she doesn't particularly subscribe to the idea of power and just wants to chill, and Sausage for later reasons.

Northern and Southern Rivendell are led by Aeor and Exor respectively, with Scott (Eternal Winter) and Xornoth as their puppets champions. Scott and Xornoth are the ones who carry out Aeor and Exor's plans. Aeor is mostly good, keeping peace in his realm and such. However, he does it through much more restrictive methods than even the WRA, killing those who oppose him and taking over large sections for his realm. Exor doesn't even pretend to be good, ruling with violence and bloodshed, keeping his people in fear. His crew is full of people he manipulated, abused, blackmailed, and/or bribed to join. Joey (Totem) was one of these, originally being a vigilante ally to Shrub before ending up with Exor. At least he's with Xornoth though! It's not that terrible. It most definitely is.

And then there are the vigilante types! Shrub (Wolf Spirit) is a vigilante and she tries to take down Exor because he's hurting the people and attributing to mass murder. She lives in an old, rundown apartment with a bunch of stray dogs and dogs belonging to some mafias that she retrained. Pix (Phantom Assassin) is kind of a wild card. He helps the Codvengers but occasionally does his own thing. He's very interested in taking down Exor. Sausage used to be a for-hire assassin until he eventually grew to lead the assassin's guild and caught the attention of the WRA. He joined them, but he still does assassinations and hangs out with the other vigilantes. Until he goes missing for several months and ends up with Exor.

And then there's Katherine. She's a neutral party that everyone except Exor is aligned with. She tries to keep peace between them all and stop innocents from getting hurt. She also supplies medical aid and other important needs such as food and clothing.

I want to indulge the brainrot. Talk about Pixlriffs and the way his citizens see him, or the guiding role he tends to take within the Codvengers, or why he grew his hair out. I like your thoughts, though, so if something else has the rambling’s attention right now, go wild!

i have lots of thoughts about pix’s role as the “king” in pixandria!!! the pixandrians wouldnt follow the traditional king/queen/emperor/leader roles that most of the other empires do. the title of the Copper King was given to pix by the other emperors who assumed he was a king, and similar to this his crown is only worn in other empires or around other leaders as well. …exceptions occur when he forgets to take it off. pixandrians follow the vigil keeper, which is considered to be more of a priest role than that of a king, even if they have similar responsibilities. pixandria has been around for potentially thousands of years, but pix was the first vigil keeper to make the effort to have trade routes with other empires and put the empire on the main maps.

the keeper is chosen by lightning in a rare desert storm. theres no fancy ceremony, coronation, or crowning; one day the keeper is struck by lightning, leaving a lightning scar (not sure what its called but its the same thing that can happen irl) made of copper. pix was going about his day as normal when a lightning storm hit the desert, and basically he couldnt get inside fast enough, so he got struck by lightning that brought with it a ton of responsibilities. (it may or may not cause a respawn as well, but that has no change on the outcome. the person struck would still be the keeper) i dont know where his scar is yet but it might start at his hand and travel up his arm, connecting with his channeling trident when he uses it. (the electricity might cause it to glow as well!!) rain is very important in pixandria, and storms are celebrated whether or not its a lightning one. a storm where the keeper is chosen is incredibly rare and does not happen every time it rains. the new keeper will be taught by the old one until they are ready to be The keeper.

only the vigil keeper is able to light the candles on the vigil for the other emperors, as it is a big part of their role. the candles do not control respawn or death, rather they are lit to respect and honor the fact that one has died. death is not typically feared in a world with respawns, but that does not take away from the fact that its still a Death and that should be acknowledged. the candles also do not go out unless the person it is lit for permanently dies (typically of old age or injuries/disease that override respawn mechanics), in which case it can no longer be re-lit. when a player permadies, the candle is said to be the light that guides them to the afterlife; by the time the wax melts down and the candle is nothing but a stub, the dead have made their way. families light candles for their own in their homes, the vigil is only for the emperors of the continent. there is a lantern lighting ceremony every 6 months where the candles are exchanged for lanterns and they are all sent into the sky at once. a common pixandrian parting (whether in death or a simple well-wish) is “may the vigil guide you home.” - home being a home in the literal sense, or the afterlife, its up to interpretation and/or how the speaker intends it!

i havent thought of the specifics yet but because long hair is kind of impractical in the heat of the desert (i assume), a vigil keeper growing out their hair could be a symbol of status? thats not to say the general pixandrian public could not also have long hair, though, so maybe its just a personal preference. although it could be used as a story-telling detail when he exiles himself & cuts his hair short. i just like drawing long hair, honestly, but i might solidify a reason for it in the future :D
