I've been brainrotting about reaper lately, got any good ideas for him? maybe some afterdeath or him being a good dad to his kid(s)

I think Reaper would just get so tired sometimes, I mean, he was pretty tired in the comics if I remember… These lovers only comfort each other please and thank you :)

HELLO!!! Unclemare is an au I made of Nightmare acting as a main caregiver for Palette because I’ve always been a sucker for Palette being with his silly evil uncle 😅 You can search for my art of it using #unclemare on my blog filter :) Nightmare kidnaps Palette basically and then a whole lot of chaos ensues! I know you as the afterdeath person so have this prompt I generated

I couldn't pass the opportunity to make this Halloween themed. Palette is a sailor, Lux is passive!Nightmare, Goth is Reaper, Shino is a zombie, and Raven is literally Hatsune Miku (it was really funny in my head)

Goth and Raven definitely told Shino to bite him. Also Palette and Lux are here because Halloween is a busy day for Dream if I recall. I was gonna add Cross but then forgot but oh well lol, just imagine he stopped somewhere and is stuffing his face with chocolate. :)

You've talked about Nightmare's Gang as a flock, what other flocks are within the main cast? Are their dynamics similar to those in NM Gang (as in, do flocks tend to be very similar or very different)?

Official all Sans flocks

Error, Fresh, Geno

Nightmare, Killer, Dust, Horror

Ink, Dream, Blue

Generally all other Sanses are in flocks with their respective universe's Papyrus and main cast of Undertale

Their are some monsters who choose to be alone as well

Flocks in my au generally form for survival, close bonding, or just the fact that it's practical or benefits them. They've basically gotta bond with someone enough and their bird brain assigns them a knowing flock in the back of their mind. They are able to resist officially flocking with someone but it pains them to do so. If a monster is in a flock already its hard for them to suddenly switch and go into a new flock. The stars formed a flock bond because of the huge amounts of time they'd spend together. Nightmare's flock formed for practically the same reason. I've always headcanoned Fresh, Geno, and Error as brothers so they are flock.

Onto the dynamic parts :) Every flock is very different! There isn't really a leader position unless the flock wants it, with most being all respectfully and mutually in no power over each other. Flocks can be family, blood or found, friends, rivals, literally any dynamics.

Example, I've talked about Nightmare's flock, and their "leader" is Nightmare. The stars don't have a leader, they're all mutual friends who are basically family. Error's flock consists of his brothers Geno and Fresh, who he isolates himself with, but whenever they do meet up they will nest together and just enjoy each others presence.

People in a flock can have a mate from a different flock even if they don't change their flock. Mates are something special and most pairs are together for life.

Ok yes hear me out: I love your palette + uncle mare content, and as a angst lover I have a headcanon

Dream after almost half a year comes back for palette after FINALLY realizing he's gone, and when given the choice palette tells his papa how bad of a dad he is, then just kinda.. chooses to stay with unclemare??

Omg this is just yes! I LIVE for angst!! I absolutely love all the ideas people have given me for Palette just straight up denying his real dads for a better guardian.

Canonically in my au Nightmare is a little corrupted however. He's cruel and thinks of Palette only as a bargaining chip for a long while. Don't worry! Palette's the kid of Ink and Dream, he's got a few things up his sleeve...!

Also in the au Ink and Dream are simply platonic and Palette is made from their magic mixing.

Ink is totally not a parent of Palette's. Ink literally constantly forgets what Palette's relationship with him is and its established that Dream takes care of Palette alone. Palette knows that Ink is his other dad and it hurts him knowing that Ink is not part of his life despite both seeing each other often since Dream and Ink are friends, There are good moments though! Such as Palette getting his roller from Ink.

Dream is a parent who tries his best but just isn't cut out for being a parent. When he has the free time he spends all his time with Palette, trying to just take care of him. He lives a lifestyle where he's constantly on the run or just working. Palette gets left alone more times than he can count. It is due to Nightmare being corrupted and Dream never has time to just relax and breath.

Palette wasn't left alone as a kid thankfully and would usually be brought to Reapertale to be taken care of by Geno, which is why he's friends with Goth.

Why is Dream shipped with Error in the random AU designs?

They are beautiful by the way.

Why? I’m not really sure.

As a multi shipper I tend to think of crazy pairings now and then and Dream and Error just jumped out at me. Although, I guess I paired them because in the lore it’s a sense of comfort I find them feeling.

Dream feels comforted by someone who treats him equally and not like a powerful scary being. In the au Error is pretty calm against the chaos of the multiverse. (The quiet anti-void, and the silence that plagues Error’s voice) Error knows the beauty of the multiverse amidst the dark and broken things and I think it’s nice to imagine Dream, who has just been thrown into the chaos for the first time, to be shown the beauty through someone who has gone through so much pain in the multiverse. From one outcast to another saying that things will get better.

Dream relied on his brother for so long, and Error hasn’t relied on anyone for so long. It’s comforting to know they now have each other when they get to that point. Error’s cold barriers that he’d created, slowly getting cut loose by the warmth of Dream, it’s like both of them alleviating the grief they hold together on equal terms.

Mmmmm I’ll start with the twins… the twins actually are seen as princes and the townspeople accept them as the “rulers” of the land. The apple incident doesn’t happen until they’re adults, and it happens because the townspeople attack Nightmare saying that Dream should be the crown prince instead. They never cut the tree down so it still stands tall.

Nightmare defends himself and eats the apples after getting tempted by the spirit who killed Nim. The thing is, Dream is able to stop Nightmare before he eats them all by absorbing a few of the golden apples and fighting Nightmare out of his crazed state of eating. Now while Dream stopped Nightmare, he hurt his eye in the process, which made Dream become overwhelmed with guilt and he pledges to no longer fight anyone. Nightmare only eats 500 corrupted apples instead of the 999 because Nightmare doesn’t have the time to corrupt his brother’s apples. It leaves him in a more unstable situation because he hasn’t fully let himself get taken over.

The tree has only golden apples on it now, which leaves an imbalance where Nightmare has all the control over negativity and Dream has only a little control of the positivity. Nightmare somehow takes over the kingdom which leaves Dream to scramble away as his jealous brother turns half to goop and tries going for his throat.

Now this brings us to Dream running into the multiverse, after Neil informs him about the omega timeline. Neil gives him a transport token since he wasn’t used to creating portals with his new powers yet. But, he quickly learns that he’s not exactly welcome in the greater universe. Out!codes that were deemed as a protector were seen as a threat because of their immense power.

Dream learns this when trying to get into the omega timeline. They scan his code and realize he’s a protector and immediately try to capture him. This leads to a chase where Dream meets Ink and Blue!

Blue is an omega timeline guard that constantly tries to capture the protectors of spotted. Ink is the protector of creation that has decided after centuries of unfair treatment that he’s just going to harass the omega timeline. He plays pranks on them pretty much every day and is just a general nuisance.

Dream runs into Ink while trying to escape and Ink is delighted to finally meet the guardian of positivity. Ink shows Dream a little bit of the ropes of the multiverse and tells him that is he ever needs someplace to hide, to go to the anti-void. Ink doesn’t state that it’s the anti-void, he just gives him a code to portal. At some point Dream has to go to the anti-void because he can’t keep running from the multiverse forever.

When he gets there he is met with the vast white expanse and he follows the blue strings in the distance until he makes it to Error’s area. Error greets him abruptly by stringing his soul up, which really makes Dream freak out because his soul is what Nightmare was after. (Since his brother wanted to rule over all the apples including the ones that Dream absorbed)

Dream and Error communicate (even if at this point Error can’t speak because of how glitched he is) and Error lets Dream stay in the anti-void whenever he wants.

Dream realizes that being with Error is the first time he is ever able to really feel safe and comfortable because of the quiet anti-void and the quiet nature of Error now.

Error is a total gentle giant here and doesn’t leave the anti-void much. He always takes Dream to different aus with beautiful scenery for Dream’s enjoyment, but also he’s afraid that the anti-void will hurt Dream if he’s there too long. Despite being the protector of destruction he shows Dream that the multiverse is beautiful in a lot of ways he couldn’t experience by himself.

Just gentle glitchy giant and anxious antidepressant 😫❤️❤️

Some cool things to note:

- Error only has one arm, the other arm he constructs out of strings which he mostly uses to grab things. The reason he is like this is because he was caught by the omega timeline at some point and he was rescued by Ink a little too late. I imagine they work like if a jellyfish could use they’re stingers as limbs haha. I imagine Dream holds onto the strands because of how glitched Error is and it makes both of them feel safe together… He doesn’t go out much because of the hidden fear of others after being experimented on.

- Nightmare is erratic because of the semi transition so he can go from feeling deep remorse about his brother one moment and cut back to the apathetic longing to be in power. He actually takes great care of his mother, who he has since lost the ability to talk with. He is a cruel ruler, and anyone who tries to defy him is immediately executed.

- Blue isn’t necessarily bad, he’s just got a job he’s paid to do and even at some point Blue was able to capture Ink but let him go in fear of what omega timeline scientists would do. He thinks Ink is annoying yet really funny.

- Dream is actually more powerful than regular because he absorbed a few more apples than one. He just doesn’t want to fight anything, he’s a pacifist. He got the crack in his eye from his brother in their scuffle, which left him blinded for a bit before he gets healed by Ink. Error probably knits Dream blankets and pillows and stuff because Dream is often sleepy and Error always finds him passed out whoever in the anti-void if left alone long enough.

I’m planning on throwing a bunch more sanses into this thing but idk how long I’ll enjoy this multiverse au haha. Don’t even know what to call it yet 😭

Sorry that was a lot, but I make a lot of these stories up when I’m working haha. It keeps my brain occupied

Thank you!! I mean that’s a LOT to be compared to 😭 I think what you mean is I draw Ink in his kind of original style? His more pinched eye sockets and his mouth are what really gives him his personality and I LOVE his design so bad. I could not measure up to the mythical Comyet yet but thank you!

Some random ideas I'd like to share hm...

Probably some of Nightmare's gang and worldbuilding I'll rant about for a hot minute haha

First of all, all monsters go through molts, they happen once a year and the person molting is generally grumpier, sicker, cuddlier, and moodier as they lose their feathers and gain new ones.

No humans have wings except aus that let it happen there specifically.

Every monster has individual calls that they generally develop from their parents, siblings, guardians, or just members of their flock. Young monsters are impressionable and usually imprint on a figure that's influential on them and generally take the call of that person.

When making nests, they usually create them out of blankets and articles of clothing from their flock. There are some exceptions like when Error creates his nest made of only a few blankets but mostly his blue strings.

Nightmare

Nightmare has a goopy substance covering his wings that can mold into anything he wants them to. He used to have Black Banded Owl wings.

Nightmare can make bird noises when he tries to communicate nonverbally to his gang, but doesn’t do it as often.

Nightmare can make chirps from his brother, and hoots, his own call. He never sings like his brother anymore and he refuses to make those noises even if they get stuffed in the back of his throat when he hears Dream chirp to his new flock. (although Dream openly hoots and makes calls from Nightmare)

He often hates nesting due to him calling it a waste of time but he lets his gang drag him to a nest for cuddling every now and then. They can't really preen his goopy wings but Nightmare appreciates it when Horror pets his wings while they nest.

Cross

Cross is a little different since he's not officially in Nightmare's flock despite nesting, preening, and just spending time with the gang.

Usually when conflict arises between the Star Sanses and Nightmare's gang he stands in the middle awkwardly and just joins whatever side is losing (nobody actually minds)

His wings are two-barred crossbills and they are strong from constantly training and he could very easily carry someone while flying with them

Cross also spends his time with the Star sanses and really wants to court Dream but is too shy to as of.

Horror

Horror has strong sleek shoebill wings that he meticulously makes sure is clean. It helps to keep his hands busy so he doesn’t pick at his cracked skull.

He often has his wings stretched out and rests it on the gang's backs and shoulders in comfort.

He’s the best nest maker and makes the least noises out of the gang since it’s loud and he doesn't like scaring people.

When making dinner, he ties his wings back (like someone would do with hair) and it keeps feather's from getting into their food

Dust and Horror have courted each other and much to their enjoyment are together now. They aren't thinking of kids but just spend more time together and nest together.

Dust

He makes high-pitched whistling noises to communicate since he can become nonverbal often

His Verreaux's eagle wings are sleek and dark and littered with dust since he doesn’t clean them as often

He doesn’t let anyone touch his wings since his Papyrus used to only clean them.

He flies the most out of the gang and sometimes leaves for periods of time just to fly (he likes it when the gang goes out to fly with him)

Killer

He has small shrike wings that are dull and dirty and Horror, Nightmare, and Cross constantly try to fix them but he gets into so much trouble that he often leaves them filled with blood, dirt and broken feathers.

He uses his wings to attack as well, meaning sometimes they are broken and injured.

Other than often wanting to stab things, he's constantly chirping and singing which annoy the others when he starts his shrieking fest.

He loves pulling pranks like usual but he he also pranks others with instinctual behaviors. Imitating the calls of the others in his flock for fun? Yes he would do that to lure others into pranks. Stealing clothing from others so that their nests are suddenly incomplete? Oh yeah.

So the wings of the sanses are all based off of real life birds, and sometimes the realize birds have certain characteristics? Do those characteristics like reflect on the sanses depending what bird wings they have? Like if someone had crow wings would they be a little smarter than others and be kinda social??

Oh definently!

The reason why I chose some birds had to do with how the real life birds act! Example, Error is a red-winged blackbird which are known for being pretty bold. Reaper is a Raven, which are known for being inquisitive, confident, and not as drawn to being social. (because he is death) Or Lust for example is a fairy-wren, which are known for their promiscuous behavior at times.

I imagine the bird bois helping preen eachohers' wings because ( especially for Dream ) the tips of their wings would be had to reach and get dirty easily so it's likean affectionate thing for them

OH DEFINENTLY. On top of them having just wings, they also exhibit some birdbrained behaviors! Preening, nesting, chirping, you name it!

Each sans has their own individual type of wings and so does everyone else in their au!

So anyways these guys have their wings preened by others most!

Killer (just doesn't take care of his wings, often had literal debris stuck in between feathers)

Dream (his wings are too large to get every spot and when preening he often falls asleep cause it takes a bit of time)

Ink (he just straight up doesn't know how to do his own and doesn't really need to be preened. He loves petting others wings to find different textures for his own ink wings)

Red (bro has them clipped cause Underfell sucks and people would target his wings if he didn't. He has trouble touching his wings because they freak him out)

and its an activity to bond so the different flocks take time in their day to make sure everyone's wings are in shape.
