The way cdrama Li Bing is like "you're fired" to Wang Qi then immediately turns to Chen Shi and is all, "you know, you should become an assistant scribe here" whilst Chen Shi is on a mission to find his brother, not gain long-term employment. And is also, very notably, illiterate.
ok wait someone said a bit ago (i have long lost track of who where and when) that they thought oscar got super difficult a-levels (math, cs, & physics) in part bc of covid (bc they just put your predicted grade as your grade, iirc, and exams line up real funky with racing normally making it super difficult to do them. or something along those lines). but he's almost exactly my age and covid interrupted my first year of university, rather than my last year of high school? so that didn't make sense to me, and at first i thought oh maybe in the uk ages/birthdays line up differently, who knows, i am but a silly american. BUT this says he finished school in 2019.
so he got those a-levels like. regularly. no covid mess or anything, just sheer will power and ~30% attendance. much to think about!
@confusion-is-wonderful you are as usual so right. And the beauty of this trope with marcheron is that it can easily go both ways.
Like on one hand, Bergy was notorious for playing thru every kind of gruesome injury known to man so he'd totally be the one trying to sacrifice himself and having to be stopped, but Marchy equally loves him so much he wouldn't hesitate for a second before trying to sacrifice himself for him, not realising how much Bergy would actually prefer not having him die.
And the idea of Marchy charging in with "are you like, stupid??" in a high intensity life or death stakes moment to save Bergys ass is too funny. This should definitely be incorporated into any mob au
Hey Uki!!! Idk if your looking for fic recs but have you read "Kickoff" by @celestie0 I think you would really like it. Its sooo gooddd.
hii there nonnie! hope ur day’s been going well so far💞
ahh first off, i just wanna say thank you so much for the rec!! i think one of my moots actually recommended me this a while back :D
unfortunately, i haven’t read kickoff yet. i’ve been rly busy w uni lately so i can’t indulge in many fics as i want to (super out of topic but sm of my mooties posted yesterday and i feel so bad for not reading their stuff earlier, but i’ll definitely come around sometime this week 😚) BUT KICKOFF IS DEFINITELY UP THERE ON MY TBR.
i think it has around 9-10 chapters with a word count of 70k or so, and i greatly admire the op for being so dedicated to their story. ahhh 70k screams true dedication right there. if you think about it, that’s enough to make a novel but op’s out there doin all this for free 🥹🥹 if any of u guys get the time to read kickoff, please check it out! akshsjshw i have sm respect for authors who go above and beyond w their stories!!
anyways, enough w my incessant yapping. thank u sm for the rec bb, i’ll be sure to check it out during my free time! 🫡
realizing that all of the fictional characters i love the most can be sorted into three distinct categories: the one with questionable morals willing to do anything for the person they care for, and the one who’s just there to vibe but has no idea how to be a person because they were never taught how to, and the detective
idk what was going on with like. the acme knowing abt shadowsan being vile and seeing carmen with him thing like. i have a feeling that where going to do something with it in season three maybe and then changed plans (bc in general season 3 is so disconnected in season 2 but thats a topic for another day) but then why bring julia into it when she never gets it clarified at least on screen that shaodwsan is no longer with vile
So. Here’s a thing I never do. Post written material. And yet, good Lord, here it be. Wonders never cease.
Jack’s childhood is an endless source of inspo for me. I’ve always had a fascination with how a character’s beginnings shape them into the person they grow up to be. None more so than this lil lad right here, who’s childhood has been brought to you by Angst™. (Aka, the wonderful @safyresky, and all her lovely lore).
Sooo. Here is Jack, being a troubled little eight/nine-hundred-year-old (he’s mistaken for a slightly younger kid here bc... well, let’s face it. He’s not very big) and, uh, bumping into a familiar face, shall we say. I’m sure you can guess whomst, despite me having removed her name -- just from the bit of dialogue at the end. Love a good parallel, me.
Excerpt is lifted from an absolute behemoth of a fic (150k and counting, whoo) that... may never see the light of day. But I’ve been enjoying writing young!Jack so much, that I just wanted to share a lil nugget.
Without spoiling anything, I’ll say that this is not technically time travel. I mean, not in the traditional sense. Just, Complex/Dark Magic. And, er. Memory... stuff?
Jack’s kiddo design is... I mean, this is just one of many iterations. I’ve drawn him with flat, brown hair. With sticky-up hair. With half-frozen, half-thawed hair. Here his hair is as floofy/spiky as it is when he's an adult (frozen adult, that is) but instead of floofing backwards it floofs forwards, bc he hasn’t learnt to style it yet. He’s only smol, after all.
For the longest time now, he’s existed in my mind as this precocious, knobbly-kneed, slightly gawky little chap. How accurate that is... 🤷🏻♀️ but it’s where we’ve ended up.
Outfit vaguely inspired by @lmelodie‘s beautiful drawing.
