i have this deendee character idea fr my friends humblewood campaign (hi alice if you see this) of a little bird that comes across as small and weak but is actually specialized in like. necromancy magic and like raises the dead and shit. there is more to it but anyway im stumped on what species of bird to use cuz i feel like it cannot be a Cool species like hawks/owls/eagles etc and vultures are too on the nose. i want a smaller bird. corvids are also kinda too on the nose. my current ideas are shrike, american robin, some breed of pigeon, or smth similar in that sort of size range but IDK. if u know birds and want 2 give me suggestions feel free 😐😐

Gnolls and Wizards: The Bits

So the gnolls kidnapped some wizard kids. I already posted the gnolls and the kids. What else is there? Well, the gnolls had some pets ... and then there was that bat ...

The leftmost and righmost ones especially were a clue into me trying to get things done as frantically as possible. The point where maybe the art was a limiting factor, rather than an exciting addition... Anyway. The encounter maps aren't that interesting to me at this point, so I'll hold off from showing them unless there's something particularly interesting. They were a lot of work, but they've served their purpose. I can show off the state of the world map at the time of this adventure, though.

The team started in Braquen's Bluff, made their way to Earthbridge, and headed south to Glimmer. That dot to the northwest of Glimmer is the site of

This adventure with the gnolls and the wizards was kind of where i took a step into "just do goofy things that aren't tied into other things" and probably a mistake in retrospect. It was also a place where my desire to put some things into an adventure ran into me running a campaign, and both things lost some of their interesting bits in the process.

Next time, continuing that trend, in the Lanternwood.

So. Wizards. Skate wizards. At least that was what I was going for thematically? Idk. I don't remember any of their names. One of them was probably named Rodney or something. I think the kid in the jacket's dad was a wealthy so-and-so.

I was going for a different sort of thing when drawing them than i was the gnolls. These came a little later (since I was working off the gnolls i drew earlier for this adventure), and I was already trying to make the art faster and looser. The need for art was part of the thing that made working on the campaign fun, but it highlighted that i didn't really know how to plan a session outside of making art. More on that another time, maybe.

Next time, some odds and ends from this adventure.
