Peter Verigin Is Sent to Penitentiary for Perjury
----
Yorkton, Sask., May 6 - Peter Veregin, Doukhobor leader, this morning was sentenced to three years in Prince Albert penitentiary for perjury. He was convicted on one charge of perjury by a jury here yesterday. Mr. Justice D. McLean passed sentence.
A jury found yesterday afternoon that Verigin swore falsely at the preliminary hearing last January of a perjury charge against George Chutskoff, an independent Doukhobor, against whom the charge was dismissed.
Three Years for Nudists
Nelson, B.C., May 6. - Sentence totalling 254 years were handed out by Magistrate John Cartmol to 84 Doukhobor men and 81 Doukhobor women, members of the Sons of Freedom sect, following their conviction in police court here yesterday of parading in the nude in public at Thrums on Sunday.

Hey hey hi, hello Captain Howdy, how are you? Do you know about the Dukhobor sect, it was formed in the Russian Empire, but because they had a fight with the government, they migrated to Canada and still live in Canada. Is Nyon a descendant of the Doukhobors?
Actually this year stayed in a small city out in the country that has a big Doukhobor history and presence (´・ω・`) Had some borscht at this restaurant specializing in it and had sour dough bread along with it. The local library had some books more on the history as well. Definitely will go back some day lol

What Authoritative Sources Say With Regard to Verigin
----
WINNIPEG, June 23 - Temporal and spiritual lord of 16,000 Doukhobors in Canada, Peter Verigin probably will never establish domicile in Canada and become a Canadian citizen, usually authoritative sources close to the leader said here today. The source of his disability is to be found in a peculiar tenet of faith among members of the Sons of Freedom Sect of the Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood.
Following his release by Justice H. A. Robson here from custody of the Department of Immigration, which tried a second time to deport him as an alien, Verigin's complete disappearance has mystified even his followers, but it is believed he is remaining in the background until he shall have completed five years residence in Canada.
