Why Investing in a High-Quality Feather Down Quilt is Worth It
Introduction
A good night's sleep is a precious commodity, one that has a profound impact on our overall well-being. To achieve this, investing in quality bedding is paramount. Among the many options available, a high-quality feather down quilt stands out as an excellent choice for comfort, warmth, and durability. In this article, we will explore the compelling reasons why investing in a premium feather down quilt is not just a luxury, but a wise decision that pays off in numerous ways. We'll delve into the benefits, the science behind down insulation, the longevity of these quilts, and tips for selecting the perfect one to transform your sleep experience.
1 The Benefits of a Feather Down Quilt
Superior Insulation
Feather down quilts offer unparalleled insulation. The unique structure of down clusters creates countless tiny air pockets that trap and retain heat, ensuring you stay warm and cozy on even the coldest nights. This natural insulation surpasses synthetic alternatives by providing warmth without bulk.
Breathability
One of the standout features of down is its breathability. These quilts allow excess heat and moisture to escape, preventing overheating and promoting a comfortable sleep temperature. This breathability makes feather down quilts ideal for year-round use, adapting to the changing seasons effortlessly.
Lightweight Comfort
Despite their remarkable warmth, high-quality feather down quilts are remarkably lightweight. This means you can enjoy the luxurious comfort without feeling weighed down or restricted during your sleep.
Longevity and Durability
Investing in a premium feather down quilt is a wise financial decision. With proper care, these quilts can last for decades, providing you with years of comfortable and restful sleep. The longevity of down bedding makes it a sustainable choice compared to constantly replacing lower-quality alternatives.
Allergen-Friendly Options
Many feather down quilts are processed to remove allergens, making them suitable for individuals with allergies. If you are concerned about allergies, be sure to choose a quilt labeled as hypoallergenic to enjoy the benefits without any discomfort.
2 The Science Behind Down Insulation
Understanding the science behind down insulation is crucial in appreciating the value of a high-quality feather down quilt.
Down Clusters
Down is the layer of fine feathers found beneath the tougher exterior feathers of ducks and geese. The magic of down lies in its structure: clusters of tiny filaments that interlock to create a three-dimensional matrix of air pockets. These air pockets are exceptionally efficient at trapping warm air, providing unparalleled insulation.
Fill Power
The quality of down is often measured in fill power, which quantifies its fluffiness and insulating ability. Higher fill power indicates loftier and more insulating down clusters. A high-fill-power down quilt will be lighter and warmer than a lower-fill-power one.
Breathability
Down's natural breathability is a result of its loft and the way it regulates moisture. It wicks away perspiration and excess heat, keeping you dry and comfortable throughout the night.
Responsiveness
Feather down quilts have the unique ability to adapt to your body temperature. They retain heat when you're cold and release it when you're warm, ensuring a consistent and comfortable sleeping environment.
3 Longevity of Feather Down Quilts
Investing in a high-quality feather down quilt isn't just about immediate comfort; it's a long-term commitment to quality sleep.
Durability
Feather down quilts are renowned for their durability. When properly cared for, they can last for decades, maintaining their loft and insulating properties. This longevity is a testament to the robust nature of natural down.
Cost-Effective
While premium feather down quilts may have a higher initial cost, they are cost-effective in the long run. Cheaper alternatives often need frequent replacement, which can add up over time. A well-maintained down quilt is a smart investment that pays off over the years.
Sustainability
Choosing a durable feather down quilt is an eco-friendly choice. It reduces the need for constant production and disposal of synthetic bedding materials, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible lifestyle.
Resale Value
High-quality feather down quilts maintain their value. Should you ever decide to upgrade or change your bedding, you can often recoup a significant portion of your initial investment by selling or trading your quilt.
4 Choosing the Perfect Feather Down Quilt
Selecting the right feather down quilt is essential to maximize your investment. Here are some tips to help you make an informed choice:
Fill Power
Opt for a quilt with a higher fill power for better insulation. A fill power of 600-800 is considered good, while 800+ is excellent.
Thread Count and Fabric
Pay attention to the thread count and fabric quality of the quilt's cover. A high thread count cotton cover is soft, breathable, and durable.
Baffle Box Construction
Look for quilts with baffle box construction. This design prevents the down from shifting and ensures even distribution, maintaining consistent warmth.
Care Instructions
Follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure the longevity of your quilt. Regularly fluffing and airing out your quilt can help maintain its loft and performance.
Conclusion
In conclusion, investing in a high-quality feather down quilt is a decision that pays off in multiple ways. The superior insulation, breathability, and lightweight comfort of down bedding provide a luxurious sleeping experience. Additionally, the science behind down insulation and the longevity of these quilts make them a smart financial and sustainable choice. To enjoy these benefits, select a quilt with an appropriate fill power, quality fabric, and proper construction. With the right care, your investment in a feather down quilt will reward you with years of restful nights and unparalleled comfort, making it a choice well worth every penny.

“Gasp…… Ugh. I’m dying…….”
After leaving the study, I ran like crazy. I ran like I’ve never ran before.
Thankfully, it wasn’t too far from my room. If I weren’t fast enough, the ‘Summon’ duration would end and I would’ve disappeared in the middle of the hallway, leaving behind nothing but my clothes.
After running at full speed, I went into the bed, covered myself with the blanket, and canceled the ‘Summon’. With that, I was summoned back to where I designated in advance, under the sawdust.
―Squeak. (Whew.)
At this rate, I might end up passing away young…….
I stumbled towards the middle of the hamster house and laid on my back with my arms and legs stretched out. The sky is yellow. So yellow.
“Did you exercise? You look tired.”
Kyle appeared suddenly and picked me up while I was still panting. He began to kiss all over me. With no strength to even lift up a paw, I helplessly received all his affectionate gestures.
―Squeak……. (Are you content now…….)
“I understand, I understand. I also like you a lot.”
―Squeak……. (This clueless bastard…….)
“Today, I will make you a present.”
Kyle, who put me down, put a handful of duck feathers into the handkerchief he laid out for me last night. Then, he carefully began to quilt it.
Although it looked a little awkward and had threads sticking out, it came out better than the dish scrub he made before. Have you been practicing these days?
I peered at his face with my barely open eyes. There was a warm smile that contrasted with the endless winter out the window.
What are you so happy about.
It’s just a demonic beast.
As I felt the handkerchief being carefully placed on my back, I slowly closed my eyes..
―Squeak……. (This diligent, tactless, warm-hearted bastard…….)
One day, this moment would become a memory to think back about after I return back to my world.
It would be a happy memory to remember.
*
―…….
“…….”
“…….”
It was a suffocating silence..
I looked back and forth at Kyle and the magician, who were both watching me put up a guard.
It had been thirty minutes since the magician entered the study. They constantly observed me as if I were a lab rat. Stop staring please. It’s really burdensome.
Gulp.
A swallow was heard throughout the room.
The culprit was the nervous magician next to Kyle.
“T-then, I will start now.”
As if he had finally made up his mind, the magician, who looked to be middle-aged, lifted me up carefully.
The lift was uncomfortable. The palm I was sitting on was shaking hard as if an earthquake occurred.
―Squeak……. (Excuse me, sir…….)
Are you trying to play with me or what?
I sat on the shaking palms and gave him a wary look.
You must be nervous with Kyle glaring at you as if he were going to rip you to pieces, but it’s not like Kyle would actually shred you. He’s just worried. He’s just an ordinary demonic beast lover.
After wiping his sweat with the back of his hand, the magician began to inject blue mana into my body. I closed my eyes and hugged tight onto the cashew nut in my hands.
I didn’t know how my body would react to this and neither did the system, but I had no choice but to take a gamble. Kyle would’ve used all possible methods he could find to make me grow.
Right. It’s better to get this done and over with.
―……?
Bam.
My body was pushed slightly to the side along with the sound of something blunt hitting each other.
I held tighter onto the cashew nut I almost dropped and stretched out my neck to look around like a meerkat. Wh-what was that? Something just flew by?
“……Did you do it?”
“I did, however…….”
There was a crushing silence. The magician swallowed again nervously before placing his hand on my body once more.
“This…… this time I’ll try injecting harder.”
Despite saying that, he was still shaking incredibly.
Your life must also be a rough ride. I pat the magician’s hand with my front paw and took a short, deep breath. Come, I am ready.
“……Hmph!”
The magician made a weird grunting sound before drawing up a palm full of blue mana energy. Then, the moment the powerful mana shot out and made contact with my body…
Ting.
Ting.
Bam.
My body rolled back twice before colliding with the wall. I was buried in Kyle’s knitted yarns.
“Cashew!”
Kyle quickly picked me up. I shook my head and felt some static electricity penetrating my whole body.
‘Just what exactly is happened?’
What happened? Is mana supposed to feel this shocking?
[The in□able power □s d□sp□.]
I blankly stared at the system window that appeared in front of my eyes. The letters were broken into pixels and were difficult to read, but I felt I knew what it was saying.
‘Is it saying that the mana of my body and this world are colliding? Is it the same for the unexpected appearance of the beast during the reconnaissance?’
As I was lost in my thoughts, Kyle checked my entire body for any wounds.
“……Your Highness. This, I don’t think this is your typical demonic beast.”
The magician said in a hushed voice as he formed a puddle below his feet from his sweat.
“If this little one isn’t a demonic beast, what could it possibly be!”
Kyle covered me with his palm as he shouted at the magician who stood far away from him and flinched.
Hey, hey. Don’t be like that. It isn’t his fault.
“H-however, it’s not only not accepting the mana, it’s even reflecting it back…….”
While the magician rambled, I picked up the cashew nut that had flown away. The end was slightly cracked from the impact earlier. It also looked like there was a bit of dust on it.
―…….
I threw the cashew nut in frustration. Forget it. I’m not eating this dirty thing. I should use ‘Summon’ and eat something nicer.
I sat back down and watched two people arguing- no, one person suffering from the rage of the other. It’s not like I could stop the fight with this body of mine. I would have to wait for them to finish on their own.
Thinking like that, I revisited the system window with the pixel letters.
“Your Highness!”
I turned my head at the sudden voice and the study door flinging open.
It was a face I knew. He was one of Kyle’s knights in the scouting party.
“What’s the matter. A guest is here, so quickly state your matter.”
“M-my apologies! However, a letter arrived saying that Prince Belial had been attacked……!”
“……attacked?”
……What? Attacked?
I jumped up.
Kyle chased off the magician and put me back into the hamster house. After closing the house, he approached the knight at the door.
Hey. Talk inside the room! Let me hear it too!
I pressed my ears against the transparent wall. Fortunately, the study door was not completely closed, so I was able to vaguely hear the conversation.
In summary, Belial, who was returning back to the imperial palace, was ambushed by an unknown group. It was a serious incident that caused the carriage to overturn, but because the location was closer to the imperial palace, it took time for the news to reach the Blake estate……
I crossed my arms and paced back and forth in the hamster house.
The early part of <The Winter’s Heart>. The only attack I knew at this point of the novel was the ambush on Kyle that resulted in him getting wounded on his right arm.
But that incident didn’t occur on Kyle due to my interference. So instead, Belial was attacked?
‘……Something’s not right.’
Does that mean the unknown force behind the ambush on Kyle in the original story wasn’t from Belial? I thought deeply while rocking on the swing.
The controlling power within the imperial palace was definitely the second prince, Belial. I’d hate to admit, but he had exceptional leadership skills and a captivating smile, making him popular among the people.
Then was it different within the palace? As far as I knew, some subjects already openly considered Belial to be the future emperor even though the 1st prince was still alive.
‘But, what was his name again?’
Suddenly, a system window appeared.
[Lorenz Serena Meinhardt was weak-minded and cowardly. He couldn’t compete with Kyle in force, nor could he beat Belial in intellect. All he had left was the pride of being the 1st prince.
‘Right. It was Lorenz.’
I disliked him so much I even forgot his name.
I recalled the description of him from the story. With a hair color lighter than Belial’s, he was said to have a sharp appearance that resembled his mother, Serena. His thick eyebrows and clear facial features were said to resemble the emperor.
[눈_눈]
### ‘눈’ means ‘eye’. The emote resembles a frowning face.
Yeah. Like that.
However, the imperial family valued tradition and legitimacy. No matter how much power Belial held, he would not be able to become the emperor.
Besides, it wasn’t as if Prince Lorenz had no support at all, and the emperor probably would want to entrust the country to his eldest son.
That was why I thought Lorenz wouldn’t interfere with Belial’s matters. He could become the emperor even if he stood still, so there was no need to make a mess.
―Squeak. (This is all so confusing.)
While I spun the hamster wheel with my hands habitually, Kyle returned to the study with a slightly depressed look on his face.
It seemed everything has settled down. How kind of you to worry about your enemy like that.
With a short sigh, I used ‘Summon’. He didn’t seem to have the spirit to look after the hamster, so this would be the perfect time to become Shu.
Above all, the small hamster body wouldn’t be able to give Kyle the comfort he needed. For now, I want to be be his side as a human being.

Pink Floyd Songs I recommend that are not “Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2″, “Money”, “Wish You Were Here”, and so on
So I was inspired by @afemalesebastian ‘s post about the Kinks and decided to do the same with a band that I have spent extensive time with and feel confident saying that I know their catalogue fairly well. Anyways, go check out all the Kink’s bangers they mentioned.
This is my personal list and isn’t based on anything other than “I really love this song”. I tried to stay away from the big four concept albums of “Dark Side”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Animals”, “The Wall”... the only advice that can be given for those is: listen to the whole album. One last thing, all songs are best experienced through headphones.
The Entire “Hour With Pink Floyd” KQED radio set
Setlist: Atom Heart Mother Suite; Cymbaline; Grantchester Meadows; Green is the Colour; Careful With that Axe, Eugene; Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
I Attached a link to the Youtube playlist because I don’t think Spotify has these versions, and also it’s great fun to watch. This setlist includes a. lot of early 70s Pink Floyd concert staples. Early 70s live Floyd was unmatched, the studio versions do not compare. You never realise how beautiful a song Green is the Colour is until you listen to it live. I have so many words for this set nghhhh. Also, Grantchester Meadows is one of my favourite songs. It’s straight up pastoral poetry and is steeped in nostalgia. I like this version best, and I love when Roger and David share vocals
If - Atom Heart Mother
Here’s a theme for you: I’m a whore for Roger’s folksy songs, whoops. The three “solo” songs on the album are so worth it (If, Summer ‘68, Fat Old Sun), but I personally have to pick this one. It’s so fucking tragic and simplistically beautiful. Got some of that introspection and isolation, good tea. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s poem by the same name. Also the slide electric guitar is a real treat... also, Roger’s voice is so soft ;-;
Point Me at the Sky - Single
I like it, okay. It’s like a little novelty song, okay, back when Pink Floyd was still trying to write singles. Also holds some themes on the passage of time and blah blah which is seen extensively in Pink Floyd’s catalogue
Biding My Time - Relics
Okay.. It’s kitschy, I know. It’s got that jazzy feel (curtesy of Rick and his trombone) and that blues feel. Once again with that wacky jam session in the middle that defines early Pink Floyd. Also go off Nick with the drums!
Pow R. Toc H. - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
I’m a whore for weird mouth noises, and this has an abundance of them. Once again with the quintessential Floyd jam session. I’d say mono is best here since stereo is a bit mind-fucky (y’know early stereo is a struggle.. although I wouldn’t say it was too horrible with Pink Floyd), anyways, if you’re in the mood for weird sensory stuff, then stereo is great... this song is just a sensory nightmare, so tread carefully.
“The Pink Jungle” from their “Man and the Journey” suite, 17. September 1969 Amsterdam show, is EXTRA demonic and chaotic. Warning tho, there’s some slurping noises at the end. Nick carrying the band fr
Pillow of Winds - Meddle
although to be honest, the entirety of Meddle is where it’s at. Considering I listen to this song every night I had to include it. A love song :D, and it’s really pretty and drowsy. Again with the pastoral poetry, a very ambient piece (that’s just Pink Floyd in general) and the ever present themes of anxiety
Here’s some definitions since I’ve been asked a couple of times:
eiderdown: a quilt filled with down (originally from the eider) or some other soft material.
eider: small, soft feathers from the breast of the female eider duck
Wot’s...Uh the Deal - Obscured by Clouds
Another fan favourite. It’s just so beautiful. The whole album is really pleasant listen and has so many hidden gems. Again with the passage of time, steeped in a deep sense of melancholia with a sprinkle of wistfulness. The steel guitar solo is also a real treat. I also like Burning Bridges, Stay, Childhood’s End, Free Four a great deal and,... I’m giving Free Four it’s own spot on this list.
Free Four - Obscured by Clouds
this is the cheery song about death an the passage of time. The Hand-clapping just gets me, y’know. And the EMS VCS 3 synth is so crunchy, It’s great. If you you’re one of those people tired of Roger “whining” about his dad, then here’s an alternate take on that. Me? I’ll take any number of songs about Roger’s dad and trauma though
Nobody Home - The Wall
Okay okay, I chose a Wall song, BUT I would call this one a Wall Deep Cut, and It’s one of the most beautiful songs in their catalogue. There’s just this overwhelming sadness to it. You’ve got your nods to Syd, you’ve got your empty comforts, isolation, a non-ending, just a beautiful string of words
What Shall We Do Now - The Wall
THIS song. Yep, the one most people prefer to Empty spaces and... It rocks SO HARD. Added a link to the audio on Youtube since it’s not on spotify. Roger has a version of it from his Wall tour, but I prefer the one from the original Pink Floyd shows. The drums are phenomenal, the aggressiveness (not often associated with Pink Floyd), the flow of the lyrics, the deep growl of the guitar and the vocals (particularly in “shall we drive a more powerful car”). The animation that accompanies it in the film is one of my favourites. Talk about coping in unhealthy ways
The Gunner’s Dream - The Final Cut
Yes yes yes it’s that infamous album...I get it.. love it or hate it, I personally adore it. If there’s one song on the album I think you should listen to, it’s this one right here... I’d also say it’s one of THE SADDEST songs in their catalogue. This bloody song has made me cry multiple times. Again with the dissolution of the post war dream and an anti-war anthem. Makes reference to the famous lines:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England
from Rupert Brooke’s poem, “The Soldier”.
I’ll say, Roger’s vocals really go with this one, they’re so raw and oozing of emotion. Also that sax solo??? mmm yum
Not Now John - The Final Cut
Another uncharacteristically aggressive song. But oh man, the field noises in this are SO GOOD it makes me cry (in a happy way this time). You have to have to have to listen to this with headphones. Whoops I included two Final Cut songs, but I love that album
Poles Apart - Division Bell
I’ll say, this is my favourite song on the album. Also David talking to Syd and Roger, so hey. I love his voice on this album, and the wistfulness in this song speaks to my heart. There’s also this chaotic instrumental ambiance bit in the middle that’s giving haunted merry-go-round lost childhood kind of vibes, and I love that.
Take it Back - Division Bell
Big fan. It’s like a tragic, wistful environmentalist love song. Note the nurse rhyme “Ring a Ring O’Roses at 3:02).
Embryo
specifically the 30. September 1971 BBC Radio session. But “Picnic” is also a classic version, and shorter. The jam session goes so hard!  And then you feel like you’re just chilling, floating in embryonic fluids. I can’t stress enough how much I love this song, I have been working on learning it on bass. This other version includes children laughing and such as well as the same feedback on Echoes (16. July 1970) ... wow, turns out I just like creepy haunted children field sounds.
Okay, this was a lot longer than I was expecting and it took ... way too long to complete. But that’s my list! ... I have concluded that I just like sad songs, whoops. Here’s a spotify playlist. Not all of the versions I mentioned here are available, so I put alternate picks.

Tumblr media
“you applied for a collage that’s two thousand miles away!” miles yelled, waving your acceptance letter in the air.
silence fell between you, miles was so angry and bitter his shoulders were rising and falling as he tried to slow his breathing but was having little luck.
miles scoffed, slamming the letter back down on the table. “get out of my face.” he grunted, causing you to look up at him.
you crossed your arms, “what?” you muttered, furrowing your eyebrows.
“get the fuck out of my face!” he yelled, causing your entire body to tense. “what?” he laughed. “your fucking scared of me now?”
“fuck you.” you muttered.
“sorry, i didn’t quite hear you. what did you say?” he asked sarcastically, holding bis hand up to his ear.
you stood across from him, every part of you wanted to scream at him, let go of every bit of anger and push it all on to him. after everything you had been through with him, he was now lashing out at you for wanting to leave the manor you had been talking about leaving since the day you got there. so, instead of giving him what he wants, you snatched your acceptance letter off of the table before marching back towards your room.
“thats right! run away!” you could hear him yelling as you ran down the hall.
Tumblr media
listening to the deafening beats of miles’ drums for hours on end was keeping you from your sleep. you looked over to your analog clock to find the glowing red numbers reading three thirty-three. you let out a sigh of annoyance before rising from your arrangement of duck feather pillows.
you looked around your dark bedroom, your eyes now fully adjusted to the minimal light you were able to see vague figures of furniture around your room. you grabbed onto the corner of your quilt before flicking it away from you, exposing your mostly bare legs to the cool night air. you swung your legs over the edge of your bed, your feet meeting the wooden floor.
although you were in your pyjamas you didn’t mind that miles would be seeing your matching set, you just craved your beauty sleep. as you stood up, slowly walking over to your bedroom door you quickly readjusted your shorts before pulling open the large wooden door. as you marched out into the hallway you could see a thin line of light coming from under miles’ bedroom door.
as you stood outside his door, contemplating weather you should tell him to stop considering you were a quest in their house. then you thought of sleep. all you wanted to do was sleep. you brushed your thoughts aside and knocked on his door three times. when you didn’t get a response you let out another sigh before you latched your hand onto the copper door handle. you slowly twisted the door handle and pushed open the door.
“miles…” you murmured as you slowly stepped into his room.
as you stuck your head around the door you found him sitting at his drum set wearing the same outfit he had on earlier in the day. when the drums abruptly came to a stop everything felt so quiet. his eyes snapped in your direction, scanning you up and down before letting you a weak breathy laugh.
“do you know how to knock?” he snickered.
“do you mind playing a little quieter?” you asked, fiddling with your fingers to keep yourself calm. “i can’t sleep.” you added.
“maybe you should go to bed then” he sarcastically suggested. “instead of barging into my bedroom at three in the morning.” he smirked, lightly tapping the drumsticks on the snare drum.
you stood there frozen, knowing what you should say but not wanting to get into an argument with him. he let out another breathy laugh as his tapping sped up.
“or are you gonna go cry to mommy? get me in trouble?” he pouted, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked at you up and down again.
“fuck you.” you scoffed, rolling your eyes as you crossed your arms.
he stopped all his movements before making eye contact with you. “not tonight darling, i’m a little busy” he smirked as he gestured towards his drum set.
you scoffed before marching out of his room, slamming his bedroom door shut as you made your way back to your room. you pushed your door closed before stomping towards your bed. as you flopped down onto your bed miles began to play his drums again causing you to let out an exaggerated sigh before covering your face with a near by pillow.
Tumblr media
the following morning you woke up to the sudden sound of a door being pulled shut. as you pulled yourself up from the comfort of your bed you listened closely. you heard foot steps marching down the hallways causing you to let out a sigh. several boxes were stationed across your room reminding you that today was moving day.
“y/n!” flora yelled as your bedroom door swung open.
“morning flora.” you chimed, forcing a fake smile as she skipped into your room, noticeably hiding something behind her back. “what’s that?” you asked, you grin slowly turning into a genuine smile as she hopped up onto your bed.
“a present.” she teased, bringing the small wrapped box out from behind her back. “miles helped me.” he grinned, gesturing for you to take the box.
you took the box before you began to unwrap the black silk ribbon and deep red wrapping paper. the box was filled with matte black tissue paper and nestled in the centre was a single handmade bracelet.
“naw thank you!” you smiled, taking the little beaded bracelet out from the box before pulling it onto your wrist.
flora giggled as he held out her wrist. “see! now we’re matching.” she smiled, barely being able to sit still. “miles has one too.” she added.
you forced another smiled as your fingers gently traced the bracelet, feeling the different textures of each bead.
“when you move away, we will always be with you.” she spoke softly.
“thank you.” you repeated, holding out your arms gesturing flora into a warm hug.
as flora lunged towards you, wrapping her arms around your neck she snuggled in close. your arms tightened around her, the reality of you leaving becoming overwhelming real. after a second or two you heard your bedroom door creek open causing you to look up. there he was, miles stood in your door way, avoiding all eye contact with you.
“do you mind giving miles and i a minute?” you asked in a low whisper causing flora to pull away.
she happily nodded before scrambling off my bed to run down the hall, laughing as she passed miles. once flora was out of sight you turned your attention to miles, his eyes finally meeting yours.
“what do you want dickhead?” you snarled. “come to insult me one last time?” you muttered, letting out a breathy laugh as you tucked your knees up to your chest.
he scoffed as he slumped against your doorframe. “you wish.” he muttered.
“cute bracelet.” you smirked, your eyes wandering down to his wrist decorated in coloured beads.
“shut up.” he laughed, beginning to wander towards your bed.
miles plopped himself down on the edge of your bed, you were a little alarmed. miles hadn’t been this close to you in weeks.
“you’re really leaving?” he asked quietly, briefly looking around at the boxes.
you began to slowly nodded your head. “yup.” you weakly smiled, popping your lips.
a silence fell between you. both of you a little uncertain of what to say or do in each other’s company. you had spent weeks being bitter to each other but there was something about him that just made you melt.
“i’m sorry.” he mumbled.
your head snapped up to look at him. he had his head hung low, he almost looked embarrassed to be saying sorry. in fact, you thought this was the first time you had ever heard him say sorry.
“for what?” you asked quietly.
without saying anything miles looked up at you, looking like he had a million thoughts running through his mind. with one swift movement, connecting his lips with yours. the kiss was short and sweet, but when he pulled away he rested his forehead against mine.
“y/n i need you.”

DOWN PAT
Idiomatic Meaning: Having a skill or technique perfected; totally learned and mastered; completely memorized; knowing something so well that it becomes second nature.
Literal Meaning: The words “down” and “pat” have multiple meanings. Together it could be an order to a person named Pat to sit or stay or lie down, or it could refer to tapping and smoothing out something containing goose or duck feathers, also known as “down”, such as a quilt or comforter.
Usage: Informal and formal spoken and written general British and American English. Almost always used in a positive sense.
Origin: 16th Century – The expression “down pat” derives from an old meaning of the noun “pat”, dating to around 1400, meaning a strike or blow. Today we think of a pat as a soft touch, but back then it would refer to something like a strike with a hand weapon. 100 years later the word “down” was added, and the meaning altered to having completed or performed something perfectly. In poker, to “stand pat” means your cards are perfect and you don’t want to replace them.
Why is this funny? In this photo, We see a dog laying on some kind of bed spread, perhaps a quilt or comforter. The dog would like to make the spread smoother. There is someone lying next to the dog on the bed. That person advises the dog to tap down the wrinkles in order to make it smoother. The dog is uncertain and asks if that is easy to do. The person responds that it will take about a week for the dog to do it perfectly. If the dog pats the down, it will soon have it “down pat”!
Sample Sentence: The actor memorized her lines in one night and now she has them down pat.

At the top of the hill near the river lies an old house. Its windows broken from the inside, as if something inside struggled to escape. Vines cover its brick walls, years of neglect feed them well. The door creaks, and the floor boards joins in its choir. A stainled door mat lay below the entrance of the domain. Nearby shoes of kinds are placed on a shoe rack, one set being tiny little red polkadot rain boots. On the scarred walls, hang dust photos full of life. A man, a woman, and two small children. Then, a woman and two children. A woman and a child. Only a child is left in the final photograph. A child that isn't so young anymore. The man, the woman, and the child never grew old within the photographs.
The kitchen sink has leaves crawling their way onto dirty counter tops. The facet leaks water onto its center. Rusted forks and knives decorate the counters yet untouched by the plants' leaves. A plastic plate with a child's movie character on it has rotted food prepared on it. The mounds of mold growing on it spread to the chair, the only thing identifying it being the legs delaying it from an inevitable collapse. The fridge is empty, yet the smell of rotten food still comes from unidentifiable stains. The freezer is filled only with old strawberry popsicles. There are shelves nailed on the wall. On them are the usual spices and sauces, on one of the shelves there is the same, along with it is a small toy. A little plastic cat toy, shoddy painted with orange paint, just like a cat in the background of one of the photos in the hallway.
The bathroom is much of the same. Old and ruined. The sink was filled with brown hair, untouched by anyone. There's scissors left laying on the sink as well, rusted just like the knives and forks. There's no soap left in the dispenser, but a sweet smell still remains from whatever sent of soap was once there. Unlike the plant in the kitchen sink, the plants in here are without color. The bathtub is stained pink, with grime covering its wall and curtain. It's likely it hadn't been cleaned for a long time, even before the house was abandoned. On the bathtubs edge sits a pink and glittery rubber duck and a much smaller yellow rubber duck. The paint on its little orange nose has worn away in some spots. It seems well loved.
Down the hall, if you open the second door to the left, you'll find the master bedroom. The door has scratches at its bottom, the top layer of wood has been practically torn off. The only thing left in the dusty room is a raggedy bed. The bed is hastily made with pillows strewn about. A lump so perfectly mimicking a body pushes up the decades old quilt. Pulling away the quilt shows sheets hidden away underneath were eaten away by moths. Laying on top is a large doll. Looking at it now, it's surprising it seemed human from under the quilt. The left arm is missing, torn from the cloth body. A small teddy bear is tied to its right. It has little angel wings on its back. And does the doll. The dolls dress is styled to look like a white night gown. With it is a necklace. Or what really is a key strung on twine. The only rooms in the house with locks are the master bedroom and bathroom. Neither are key locks. Still, despite being left to guard the desolate room without its porcelain arm, the doll is well kept. Its curly white hair is without frizz, and unlike its feathered bed's sheets, her silk dress is clean and without holes. Her other arm and legs all have at least one band-aid on each limb. But porcelain skin doesn't bleed. Only air lays underneath. Yet the band-aids still remain. They covered little scratches. The child had loved it to pain, to injury, to aid, to treatment, to be cared for. It had been loved to humanity. Perhaps that it is what it means to be human.
The first door to the left is a child's bedroom.
It's empty.
With only a ladder left within it. The lights don't turn on anymore. One of the two bulbs is gone. The other light has died despite not being gone. There is no box of bulbs to replace it. Or any tools. The floor has no rugs or carpet. No painting, posters, or photos line the walls.
The final door.
Open it.
Does
it even
matter?
what it looks like..
what i look like..?
they won't care either way. they don't love me.
even the doll is more human than
me.
the river

Embracing the Chill: Finding the Perfect Winter Jacket
As the temperature drops and frost begins to blanket the world outside, the quest for the ideal winter jacket becomes paramount. A winter jacket isn't just a piece of clothing; it's your shield against the biting cold, a fashion statement, and a companion for the season's adventures.
Functionality Meets Fashion: Choosing the right winter jacket is a delicate balance between functionality and style. The market offers an array of options, from insulated puffer jackets to sleek wool coats, each catering to different preferences and climates. Functionality doesn't mean compromising on fashion, and vice versa. Modern designs seamlessly blend technology with aesthetics, ensuring you stay warm while turning heads.
Understanding Insulation: When selecting a winter jacket, understanding insulation is key. Down insulation, sourced from duck or goose feathers, provides exceptional warmth without excessive bulk. On the other hand, synthetic insulation, like Thinsulate or PrimaLoft, retains heat even when wet. Consider the climate and your lifestyle to determine the insulation type that best suits your needs.
Tumblr media
Versatility for Varied Occasions: A winter jacket should seamlessly transition from casual outings to formal gatherings. Invest in a versatile piece that complements your wardrobe and suits various occasions. A classic, well-tailored coat can effortlessly elevate your look, while a sporty parka or a quilted jacket adds a casual, trendy touch.
Durability for the Long Haul: Winter jackets are an investment, and durability is non-negotiable. Opt for high-quality materials and craftsmanship to ensure your jacket withstands the test of time and the rigors of winter weather. Look for features like reinforced stitching, water-resistant coatings, and sturdy zippers to guarantee longevity.
Expressing Personal Style: Your winter jacket is an extension of your personal style. Whether you prefer a timeless black trench coat, a bold-colored puffer jacket, or a faux fur-lined parka, let your jacket make a statement. Embrace the opportunity to showcase your individuality while staying warm and cozy.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, the perfect winter jacket is not merely a seasonal necessity; it's an expression of your personality and a shield against the winter chill. So, as the first snowflakes fall, embark on the journey to find that impeccable winter jacket that not only keeps you warm but also makes you look forward to winter's embrace.

Three Jackets to Have This Winter Season
As soon as the winter season approaches, everyone starts visiting clothing stores online and offline to look for jackets that can keep them warm as well as stylish. With the numerous options available in the market these days, it sure gets confusing to look for a jacket that meets all your requirements. The choice of winter jacket depends on factors like climate, intended activities, and personal preferences. Different types of winter jackets are designed to provide specific levels of warmth, protection, and style.
Three types of winter jackets that are multi-purpose and you should definitely include in your wardrobe are –
Down Jackets
Down jackets are insulated jackets that have quilted stitches, that make them look like a bunch of puffs or pockets sewed together. These puffs are filled with either duck or geese feathers, or other synthetic materials to provide insulation from the cold weather.
These jackets are great for moderate to extreme winter conditions and keeps you warm even in sub-zero temperatures. The best part about these jackets is that they are lightweight and compact which makes them a great option for travelling purposes.
Fleece Jacket
Fleece jackets are warm and breathable jackets that are made of fleece which is a type of synthetic wool. These jackets can be used under heavy jackets to provide a warm inner layer during extreme winters or can be worn as an outer layer in normal to mild winters.
The specialty of fleece jackets is that they are lightweight, warm, and super soft. They are perfect to keep you cozy and comfortable at night.
Windcheater Jacket
A windcheater jacket, also known as a windbreaker is made of synthetic materials that are wind-resistant or water-resistant. They are often made of breathable materials to keep the body temperature moderate. They keep you warm and comfortable acting as a barrier and blocking the cold breeze and winds however are not suitable for extreme cold conditions.
They can be used as the outermost layer and can be worn on top of other warm layers or sweaters. They are also suitable for protection against light rains.
The above three jackets are versatile and can withstand almost all kinds of cold temperatures from mild to extreme. Additionally, you can check out the winter jacket collection by Wildcraft. They have some of the coolest jackets that are designed using special fabrics and technologies to keep you extra warm and comfortable.
