Something about becoming lord of a dungeon only to have your desires eaten reminds me very symbolically of grooming or S/A. And that's probably a very dark way to look at it, but the results being that instead of dying you come out of it with no desire to do anything, or maybe you're only left with one thing that keeps you going. And maybe you need people to help you conquer other things you no longer desire to do, etc. It could be a stand in for any traumatic event, but the way it's framed reminds me of grooming and s/a the most.

Of course, if you have trauma from these things I don't think you'd necessarily be triggered by dungeon meshi because it's framed vaguely enough, but it's just something I noticed with my read through so far (I'm on ch.76).

I noticed some similarities between dungeon meshi and fullmetal alchemist. Two blond siblings, whose story takes place in a place inspired by central europe. One of the brothers was transformed after a certain event and now they are trying to make them go back to normal. and in the final battle, they end up fighting against a higher-level being (also blondes, if we consider that the winged Lion is golden(?)) the older brother at the end to save the younger one gives something in return, basically and they have a bittersweet ending

It occurred to me after reading the post ending bonus chapters there is now a replicable test for whether all the species unscientifically lumped as Demihumans are monsters or not: put a piece a Laios’s hair near them and see if they react. I would laugh if the fish men turn out to be a nonmonster race like the kobolds and mermaids were monsters formed from horny sailors sighting them, since monsters seem to spring much from myth inspiring a dungeon keepers creations.

I imagine changes from this revelation would be very slow though. (“Even if they are not monsters they are subhuman savages” and the more reasonable “when we try to communicate they stab us with pointy things.”

sometimes i really resent spoiler/leak/instant review culture. 😔 i’ve been thinking about starting the delicious in dungeon manga (yes i know everyone just calls it dungeonmeshi or whatever) but like—thanks to the fact that i am CHRONICALLY online via my normie twitter account i have been spoilt and then spoilt AGAIN for several plot points and it’s like 💀 like i try to curate where i can—tags blocked users blocked whatever—and i’ve always accepted that if ur online for any abnormal amount of time in certain spaces spoilers are just apart of that, but it’s legitimately exhausting LOL. it takes the fun out of things. and what’s the solution? i just stop being online??? like. 💀💀 anyways, i had ordered the first volume of DiD bc the artwork looks so neat but it hasn’t arrived yet and i’m already like ☹️. LOL. it’s whatever. 😔 one day i’ll man up and find a cave without wifi to live in. *shakes fist*
