Moonlight Desires

Fandom: Degrassi: The Next Generation

Pairing: Marco Del Rossi/Craig Manning

Summary: s4e19: Moonlight Desires. In an attempt to make Marco’s ex boyfriend; Dylan Michalchuk, jealous Marco kisses his bestfriend Craig. This opens feelings in Craig that he chose to suppress.

Marco and Craig sat on the staircase as the party went on. Marco had just gotten into an argument with his ex boyfriend Dylan. Marco was frustrated, upset and most of all sad. Dylan was Marco’s first ever boyfriend, his first ever real romantic relationship.

“You know, you are a great guy.” Craig said smiling at Marco who had a small tint of red on his cheeks. “The most honest, down-to-earth, nicest guy I know.”

Marco’s blush deepened as they stared into each others eyes.

“You’re a little short, but! That adds to the cuteness.” Craig stared into Marco’s deep brown eyes. “That I would find you to be if you were a girl!” Craig quickly added.

Marco couldn’t lie but feel a little disappointed by this. Marco hated to admit he had fallen for a straight boy. A boy that only really saw him as a friend. Marco looked away sadly at the stairwell.

“Or if I was… gay.” Craig whispered mostly to himself. He wasn’t ready, not ready to publicly say that he is and had always been bisexual. He wasn’t ready for the world to know, he wasn’t ready for Joey to know or Angela.

Yeah, he knew Joey didn’t care, Joey always reminded Craig that he is an ally. Joey was a kid and a teen in the 80s and lived through the whole “gay is wrong” thing.

But even though he was reminded countless times he just couldn’t he couldn’t tell anyone. He was afraid, yeah people say they’re accepting but then treat LGBTQ+ people differently. All of a sudden your whole personality is “being the gay kid”.

“Just tell me this is helping you,” Craig laughed as Marco finally made eye contact with Craig.

A few seconds passed as Marco contemplated, “you’re just telling me what I want to hear.”

It was silent for a while as Marco stared off sadly. Craig was unsure of what to do or what to say. He knew Marco was hurting, hurting over his asshole of an ex boyfriend.

“If you really want to help,” Marco began once again looking into Craigs eyes. “Tell me I’m an idiot…”

“You’re an idiot?” Craig laughed which caused Marco to laugh.

“Marco?” Dylan called out. Marco looked at Craig then at the door. He leaned in and smashed his lips onto Craig’s.

Craig sat there surprised as Dylan walked into the room.

“Oh…!” Was all that Dylan could say before he walked away.

“What the hell?” Craig said once Marco’s lips weren’t smashed onto his. “When in doubt you KISS CRAIG?”

“I-I’m sorry! I don’t know what came over me!” Marco cried as he stood up and ran off.

Craig sat there, confused. That was his first official kiss with another guy. Of course he had pictured it to be different… more romantic?

Craig sat there with only his thoughts, he wished the music was loud enough to drown out his thoughts, but it wasn’t.

Craig stood up and left the party, he couldn’t stand being there for another second. He walked home, which he admitted was a stupid idea.

Joey was up, waiting for Craig to arrive.

“Craig!” Joey shouted once Craig had arrived. “We agreed on 12:30! It’s ONE IN THE MORNING!”

“I… I lost track of time…” Craig mumbled as he set down his house keys.

“How am I supposed to trust you if you can’t keep your word?!” Joey asked but all Craig could do was shrug. “Are you even listening to me?”

“Joey…” Craig whispered as he lowered his head, “Joey I’m…”

“You’re what Craig?” Joey asked this time calmer.

“Joey I’m bisexual,” Craig whispered.

The room fell silent, Craig began to panic when all of a sudden he felt Joey hug him.

“And there is nothing wrong with that Craig. I support you and most of your decisions.” Joey smiled.

“Marco kissed me tonight and I just felt so confused? Sad? I felt all these emotions at once. I know Marco did that to get his ex jealous and that hurt? It was like being stabbed?” Craig felt himself getting sad, tears threatening to fall as he tried so hard to hold them back.

Joey lead Craig to the couch so they could sit. This was Craig’s first official heartbreak and yeah, Joey might’ve expected it to be from a girl. But, Craig needed him now more then ever.

“I felt so used, so played with. I guess karma always comes back doesn't it?” Craig chuckled sadly.

“Want some tea? Maybe it’ll help you unwind and maybe even help you relax?” Joey suggested but Craig shook his head.

“No, I just need to sleep it off. Maybe I’ll have an epiphany.” Craig smiled at Joey before walking up stairs and into his room.

The next morning rolled around as Craig found it difficult to get out of bed. Maybe Joey would let him stay.

“Rise and shine sleeping beauty. Another bright and wonderful school day waits for you!” Joey said rather loudly as he barged into Craigs room. “I made pancakes!”

Craig covered his head with his blanket, “I don’t want to go…”

“Just because a boy broke your heart does not mean you should stay at home and cry! Show him that you’re better!” Joey tried his best to cheer Craig up.

Craig stayed quiet laying in bed as he thought about his next move. Maybe he should fake being sick! Or that he has mono.

“Up! Craig! We’re leaving in ten! If you aren’t down you will be mowing the lawn for three Saturdays, and I mean it!” Joey announced leaving Craig’s bedroom.

Craig groaned annoyingly as he forced himself out of bed and into whatever good smelling clothes he had laying around.

Joey drove Angela and Craig to school, which was unusual as the school Craig attended was rather close to their house.

“Bye,” Craig mumbled as he shut the door and walked inside the school.

“Hey Craig,” Ellie, one of Craig’s friends greeted him. “Have you seen Marco?”

“No,” Craig said walking to his locker and opening it.

“I haven’t seen him since the party, do you think he is sick?” She asked.

“I don’t know Ellie,” Craig shoved his things inside the locker.

“Why do I get the feeling you and Marco got into a fight?” She asked.

“Ellie. Seriously. I don’t want to talk about Marco.” Craig slammed his locker shut as he walked away angrily.

“God, why is he so mad?” Ellie mumbled to herself.

Craig stormed into the restroom where he was pleasantly greeted by none other then Marco Del Rossi himself. They stared at each other awkwardly.

“H-Hey Craig…” Marco nervously waved.

“Ellie is looking for you,” Craig mumbled as he went into a stall to avoid Marco.

“Craig, can we talk?” Marco asked.

“Marco, right now is not a good moment to talk.” Craig replied.

“How about during lunch? Maybe we could sneak and go to the Dot? Have lunch there?” Marco proposed.

“Fine, whatever.” Craig heard Marco leave the restroom as he got out the stall.

“You idiot,” Craig muttered splashing water on his face. “Idiot.”

Craig anxiously watched the clock anticipating for class to end and lunch to start. He wanted to apologize to Marco. It wasn’t his fault after all. He couldn’t blame Marco for wanting to kiss him. I mean, who didn’t want to kiss Craig Manning?

The lunch bell rang as all the students grabbed all their stuff and left for lunch. Craig waited by the back doors for Marco’s arrival.

Marco arrived a few minutes after, “hey,” Marco smiled.

“Lets just go,” Craig mumbled as they left through the back door. They walked in mostly awkward silence. What were they supposed to say?

“I’m really sorry Craig. It was stupid of me to kiss you. I just wasn’t thinking clearly about it and only wanted to get Dylan back for what he did to me.” Marco explained after the placed their order.

“Its okay? It’s dumb of me to even be mad at you… I’m straight after all.” Craig laughed. But Marco couldn’t help it but feel his heart break.

“Craig?” Marco whispered. “Don’t hate me for this.”

“I couldn’t hate you. We have been friends for so long!” Craig laughed.

“Craig I like you, I like you so much it hurts me! Every time I see you with a girl its like a painful reminder that you will never be with me!” Marco whispered as tears escaped his eyes.

Craig sat there quietly, he didn’t know how to react, what to say. Was he being serious? Or was this all a joke?

“Craig?” Marco whispered, “say something… anything…”

“Marco, I-I don’t know what to say. I’m flattered, I am.”

Should he come out? Get it over with and be with the boy who took his heart. Tell the boy who made him realize his bisexuality that he liked him too. That he would move mountains to make him happy. It was true, all of it was true. Marco helped Craig in more ways then he realized he did.

“Marco, I’m…” Craig choked up. Words just wouldn’t come out. He wanted to tell him, he wanted to give him the world like he deserved.

“Just, just forget about it Craig…” Marco left his half of the check on the table as he quickly walked back to the school. Craig sat there staring at the now empty seat.

“I’m an idiot, a big ugly idiot,” Craig shook his head as he payed for the food and left. It was no or never. He had to find Marco and just tell him everything that was on his mind.

But it was like if Marco had just vanished into thin air. He wasn’t in the boys wash rooms, he wasn’t with Ellie and he wasn’t in the cafeteria.

“What the hell?” Craig mumbled to himself. That’s when it hit him. The one place where Marco truly felt like himself was in the drama room.

Craig rushed to the drama room, this was his chance. Yeah the bell that indicated class was in session might’ve rang but that didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was finding Marco and confessing his feelings.

He opened the doors to the drama room where he saw none other then Marco sitting on stage crying.

“Marco!” Craig shouted as he jogged to him. “Marco I’m such an idiot.”

“W-What?” Marco stuttered taken aback by Craig’s statement.

“I like you— Hell I might just love you! I’m an idiot for not telling you sooner, an idiot for not coming out!” Craig rambled.

“Wait— what?” Now Marco was confused.

“I’m… I’m bisexual! It feels so great to finally say that. I came out to Joey and now I’m coming out to you!” He proudly said.

“Wait, really?” A bright big smile rose onto Marco’s face.

“Yes! Yes! Be my boyfriend? I can treat you so much better! I’ll treat you like a king and take you on dates and everything!” Craig said hoping for a yes.

“Yes! Yes! Oh my god you don’t know how much I hoped those words would come out of your mouth!” Marco jumped into Craig’s arms hugging him.

Craig leaned in as Marco did the same, their lips met perfectly. This was more how Craig imagined his first kiss would be

I hate how pushy Zane was with Riley about coming out to his parents. Same with Dylan and Marco. You’d think they’d realize it’s not always safe for someone to come out to their parents and that coming out needs to be done in one’s own time when one’s ready. What if Riley’s or Marco’s parents sent them off to some conversion torture camp or something? If you can’t handle dating someone in the closet, DON’T DATE SOMEONE IN THE CLOSET! When I dated someone closeted as a teen, my worst fear was that person being outed because I didn’t want them to get sent away or be forced to stop seeing me. It literally kept me up at night and caused me so much anxiety that I would get physically ill. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t worry about something like that? Surely Zane and Dylan were aware of such risks.

paige grew up in a well-off middle-class household in the heart of toronto. always ambitious, she set expectations high for herself – and still does.

top of the pyramid in cheer, prom queen, you name it. also has a passion for music and has played a couple battle of the bands with her friends, loves going out to kareoke. also loves: really sugary coffee drinks, going dancing, cheesy romcoms, sparkly things, fashion and trends, nail art, gel pens, talking on the phone for hours. a mother fcking princess.

during her freshman year at winchester, she was raped at a party by a member of a rival football team. she spoke out about it and pressed charges. she has grown a lot since the incident but still has some issues surrounding intimacy and struggles with panic attacks. however, she’ll be the first person in any room to speak up when another girl looks uncomfortable, and holds strong to her beliefs.

last semester, her case went to court and she ultimately lost. as a result, her grades started to slip, and she’s lost her scholarship. while she was open about what happened to her, she’s embarrassed that she allowed it to affect her performance in classes, and she hasn’t told anyone about her grades. she recently got a job at a local diner to “build her resume.”

paige still likes to shop like she’s getting that scholarship money, and she certainly doesn’t want anyone to know that something’s wrong by stopping her sprees. so, she’s taken to shoplifting to keep up her lifestyle and god help her, she has expensive tastes.

while it’s been tough, she wouldn’t be paige if she didn’t put on a brave face, so she’s been smiling through it and wearing lots of sparkles.

PERSONALITY ;

although initially portrayed as a typical queen bee, paige is more than that. sure – she can be manipulative, arrogant, or even cruel in certain situations, but she is also sharp-tongued, ambitious, and good-hearted, even if she has a tendency to put herself first.

could describe her as passionate as all hell.

has a tendency to live up to her reputation as a mean girl, not morally against putting others down to build herself up if that’s what it takes. lowkey a little shitstarter, yk ? will start gossip or pass on a rumor for her own amusement.
