     There is a slight twitch that makes way to a small smile at the corner of his mouth, gaze avoiding hers and directed at the floor. “ I’m not asking for one.” It was a distant dream, to be able to stay, one that was as heartwarming as it was unrealistic. He wished, he hoped, that one day it would end, that one day he would be able to stop running from it all. One day. Until then... The substance that had been steadily creeping up Bruce's arms froze and cracked away to the floor. Betty, empty canister still clutched in her gloves hands, gaped until Bruce started to laugh. Then she beamed and leaned across to kiss him. "Good teamwork, sweetie," he teased her.

"Thanks, dear. Now get back to work."
