Ermagurd! Hills ahead!

There is a setting in Zwift that lets you set the difficulty on your smart trainer. For the uninitiated, Zwift can talk to your Smart bike trainer. When you virtually climb the hills; the resistance increases when you descend, the resistance decreases ... simples!

The “difficulty” setting, sets how “real” the hell, sorry, ’hill’ is going to be. It will take the same amount of power in your legs to get up the hill. But do you want to spin up with a calm, smiling face, taking in the sights, perhaps waving to other riders as you ascend. Or, be screaming and shouting “Shut up Legs!” between gasping for lungfuls of air while trying to stop your heart leaping out of your chest and saying “bugger this for a game of soldiers, I’m off!” A strange British idiom that will please V cos I still have some Brit in me, guvnor!

Tonight’s route, up to a 12% grade over 2kms (that’s kilometers for ‘murican readers) with some other “bumps” and a ride back through town for a nice round 20K!

Can you guess what I decided? Yes, my heart is half way to some bar in Omaha for a pint and a plate of fish and chips!

The rest of me, a sweaty mess but it has survived and wants to do it again ... only faster ... but tomorrow :0)

So, this other story i'm subscribed to follows this brat as he leaves a scifi world into a fantasy world. The early world building is great as ir explores the impact of 6000 years of chinese development by magic instead of science. About a month ago, i started questioning it as characters started showing up from different countries like Greece and Japan. Tonight, the translation introduced Egypt and ermagurd it's worse than Rowling

See, I’m always wary whenever any author starts introducing elements outside their own experience, because like. Alright, best case scenario, you get something like Phoenix Wright (I live in California, and by that I mean Japan), where it says it’s located in one place, but there is absolutely no attempt whatsoever made to actually use the setting’s culture, it is 100% done as if in-universe, their culture just happens to be the same as the author’s.

Worst case, you get... well. Yeah.

This is why I do not write things that are not in my wheelhouse, lmao. I don’t even write American characters that aren’t from the South. The only non-American Southern people I will write are either Mexicans, because... Texas, and I will dabble in the UK because let’s be honest, a significant portion of my media consumption for all my life has been British. My husband calls me a “UK weeb.” I had to tell him there’s a word for that. Also, like. Who cares if I get the Brits a lil wrong, considering *gestures to colonialism*

They got it coming, is all I’m saying.

I don't think that we as atheists should should be using religious texts as our first argument. If I'm say debating a fundamentalist who uses some verses first then maybe I'll talk about them, but I think the best arguments involve making the person think about what they really believe instead of yelling "ERMAGURD LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN LEVITICUS, LOL GOD IS DEAD!"

I disagree. If someone is arguing whether or not a religion is a fact, you have to argue against the evidence given. You can make several contradictions in the Bible and yeah, there have been parts that are just downright false, but I have no qualms with people personally following their truth.As soon as you try to tell ME it's true, that's when I'm like "well bitch answer these verses for me" I'm not going to confront you and say CHECKMATE BINCH HERES ALL THE BULLSHIT unless I'm provoked. Because that's stupid, unnecessary, and general not in my interest.
