any recs for books with face-sitting? 👀
Oh yes
Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean has one of my faaavorite face-sitting scenes (with just a tiny bit of very classy ass play implied). He's ~injured and is like "listen dude I'm FINE get ON MY FACE".
The Return of the Duke by Lorraine Heath, which I belieeeeeve turns into a Rare Historical 69 scene. I believe he also tells her to ride him during this scene. And she does.
I thiiiiink Olivia and the Masked Duke by Grace Callaway has this before a Rare Historical 69 scene? I feel like she rode his face at some point. He definitely had his balls in her face at another point. It's all a wash at the end of the day.
Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas has this before a Rare Historical 69. Notice how we often don't just have face sitting as its OWN THING.
In Scarlett Peckham's The Earl I Ruined, he rides her face during a rough (very consensual) BJ.
You can perhaps find this, among many other things you don't often see in trad historical romance, in Eva Leigh's A Rogue's Rules for Seduction...
For non-historicals, I'd rec:
Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole. As a part of a 69, I think. Not rare, because in IAD everyone 69s. I think Lachlain also literally like, dives under Emma so that her pussy is on his face in A Hunger Like No Other. That book.... has such a great "THE DAM HAS BROKEN WE ARE FUCKING NOW" first fulllll encounter.
[Me defending every MacRieve hero in this damn series: now listen I'm not saying what he did was appropriate or legal in every state and U.S. Territory, but he did do cunnilingus with the most enthusiasm--]
I wanna say Exposed by Kristen Callihan is a contemporary with this? I'm pretty sure. It's an enemies-to-fwb book, and he is RAVENOUS.
Run, Run Rabbit by C.M. Nascosta has a scene where the heroine is literally like "I wish I could just smother him to death right now but then I wouldn't be getting this amazing head anymore, so". TOXIC LOVERS OF MY LIFE.

I read Reckless by Stella Rhys because of a recommendation you made. So good! I love when the man realizes how obsessed he’s been with the woman all along. Any other recs like this?
That's suuuuch a good one. I loved how he was sooo dependent on her. That's one of my favorite tropes tbh (probs kinda messed up?) wherein the boss is like "Oh my god I actually completely emotionally depend on this woman.
Which leads me to The Duchess Hunt by Lorraine Heath. The hero is a duke who's looking for a wife, and he asks his secretary who's a total His Girl Friday type to help him. She's, obviously, been secretly in love with him for a while, so she's like, about to quit--and he realizes then that this would DEVASTATE AND DESTROY him. Also has a great moment where she tells him about how she masturbated to the thought of him while she was in a carriage and he's like -_- this kills the man
Lead by Kylie Scott, of course. Another boss/employee book, but this is the one where she was hired because she's a hardass and he's an addict rockstar. She helped him sober up and lives with him as his assistant/sober companion. He's like, a way different person thanks to her (I love his evolution, he is TRAAAAAASH in the first book, literally hits on the hero's girlfriend and the hero is his bandmate and BROTHER) and she realizes she's in love with him and can't work for him anymore and he's like WHAT. Also: has the moment where due to Circumstances she makes him tell her that her pussy is perfect in like, broad daylight, in a hallway or something, and probably all his friends can hear.
Exposed by Kristen Callihan. Another rockstar romance, but the heroine grew up with the band and does their PR now. She and one band member have always hated each other, but they enter into a fwb thing when he overhears her saying she needs to get RAILED and is like "... I got you". Obviously, his hatred was actually obsession the whole time.
A Secret Love by Stephanie Laurens. Another "they hated each other and knew each other since childhood" book, but the hero falls in love with the heroine while she's masquerading as a veiled widow, and when putting two and two together, Realizes Things.

SO MANY Best Books of 2021, yet most don't contain my favourite books I read in 2021. Yes, read, not necessarily published this year. So I've decided to start sharing my favourite 5 Star Reads of 2021. I hope others do too. I'll share one a day in the order they were read. #40 Exposed by Kristen Callihan - This was one of the HOTTEST, SEXIEST books I read in 2021! And I freaking loved it! Now I NEED to read the rest of this series. Highly recommend you meet Brenna and Rye! #MyBestReadsOf2021

The number of times wry/wryly was used in Exposed by Kristen Callihan, which is Rye’s book, was hilarious to me.  Still one of the best and hottest books I’ve read in awhile.

Exposed by Kristen Callihan (VIP #4)
Exposed by Kristen Callihan (VIP #4)
Summary from Goodreads: Brenna: There are some people in life who know exactly how to push your buttons. For me, it’s Rye Peterson. We can’t spend more than ten minutes together before we’re at each other’s throats, which makes working together that much harder. Rye is the bassist for Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, and I am his publicist. It doesn’t help that the man is gorgeous,…

This Chick Read: Exposed (VIP #4) by Kristen Callihan
This Chick Read: Exposed (VIP #4) by Kristen Callihan
Brenna is out with a girlfriend having a drink and makes a confession. What she doesn’t realizes is that someone overheard her, her frenemy Rye, the bass player in the band she manages public relations. Rye approaches her and offers himself as that person who will be available for sex, comfort, and friendship. She is embarrassed and floored. After a little dithering, yes, she takes him up on his…

Hey! It’s former ACOTAR anon-just wanted to say that ended up reading the entire Addicted Series and Calloway sisters series that you recommended and I LOVED IT. I think I ended up reading the whole series in like 2? weeks (granted I was sick so I didn’t have anything else to do). But i loved ever single one of the couples so much-I would say my favorite one was probably Coballoway just because I relate to Rose and I loved their dynamic but LiLo is such a close second like I adore them so much. But all 3 are actually soulmates I loved it so so much thanks for recommending it!!
I have a recommendation for you if you haven’t already read it-I don’t know if it’s your style though but you should check out The Atlas Six I’m currently reading it and it’s SO good. It’s an adult dark academia story-the characters are amazing (you get all 6 POVs), the plot is amazing, all the characters are morally grey, and the magic system and world are incredible. Plus there’s so many ships to choose from-I highly recommend it! It’s not a finished series though I think it will either be 2 or 3 books and only the first one is published.
But anyway hope all is well with you!! Sorry I’ve been MIA lol I feel like I want to keep you updated on my book journey because you convincing me to read ACOTAR is the reason I got back into reading after 10 years so I want to include you even if it’s books you never read.
Hello again, nonnie! So lovely to hear from you!
I'm ecstatic that you enjoyed the Addicted series. I had a feeling you would. Once you start reading you can't help but tear through it. The character development and dynamics are just great, aren't they? The authors are good at shaping the narrative around all their emotional arcs. Coballoway is hands down my favorite ship from that series, even though I adore them all too. I'm such a dork that of course I'm obsessed with how Rose and Connor are always sniping at each other in English AND French. I love to be stimulated intellectually so I relate to that aspect of their dynamic a lot. Plus, I'm a bit of a control freak like Rose and have trouble letting people in so that I'm known, vulnerable, so her journey resonates with me.
Also, I don't know if you know this but there's a spinoff series from that one which follows LiLo's, Coballoway's, and Raisy's kids. It's called Like Us and I think there are another 12 or 13 books? (Not sure how many of these are novellas.) I haven't read it yet but I know I have at least 5 of the books on my Kindle, impatiently waiting to be read.
Oh, and before I forget, you might enjoy the VIP Series by Kristen Callihan as well. It's another new adult-ish contemporary romance series that is character-driven. It follows the members of a famous rock band called Kill John. I like it a lot because it's all about music and hidden demons and human connection. Lots of steamy scenes, too!
The fourth book, Exposed, was just published on July 13th. I'm reading it as we speak.
Thanks so much for the book rec, btw!I keep seeing content for The Atlas Six popping up places but I don't know much about it. You saying that it has a dark academia storyline is an added hook for me. I'm intrigued!
Okay, so I just read the summary because curiosity got the better of me...and magical academicians?? Caretakers of lost knowledge?? This sounds freaking amazing! It's only $3.99 on Kindle rn so I feel fully justified in buying it. (Let's be real, I have no impulse control with books whatsoever. 😂 ) I think I'm going to start this one later today actually. I'm super excited! So thanks again for bringing it to my attention.
Anyway, I hope you've been enjoying your summer (winter, if you're in the southern hemisphere). I'm wishing you all the happy things!
Please, PLEASE drop by whenever you want to talk books or literature or whatever. I love discussion. Nothing delights me more than being kept abreast of what people are reading, doesn't matter if I've already read it or not, or if we have different opinions about an author or some content because that's what makes it all the more interesting. Recs are more than welcome, too. I can never have enough of those. I'm greedy that way, I guess haha.
My ask and inbox are always open! 💜💜💜
