4:00 am thoughts.

I've been trying to avoid this feeling since I was fifteen, I remember being online and found a girl that just caught my eye and I couldn't stop staring, I started to like her and at that moment I didn't even think she was a girl and I was a girl... Nothing happened, I just liked her but time passed and something started to happen, I started to feel bad about liking her about liking a person, crazy right? I started to punish myself for liking a person of my same sex, I started to hate myself for loving a person so I told my mom about it, she said she would support me always but she didn't, she started to read me verses of the Bible every night, those verses were about God not accepting people loving other people of the same sex, I started to feel worse but at that time I didn't understand I couldn't do anything to change someone's way of thinking. Time has passed and now I understand that I can't do anything about what other people think and that maybe people don't accept the idea of liking someone of your same sex because they don't understand that you're just loving a person, you're not loving his or her gender, maybe people don't accept this idea because they're afraid of something new or maybe they don't accept it because they don't like the idea, but you know what? I'm tired, I'm tired of not being free, I'm tired of caring about what other people think or feel before caring of what I think or feel, I feel like I've been carrying a backpack full of thoughts that hurt me and they're not even my thoughts, they're other people's thoughts and I can't keep carrying that backpack, I can't stop loving who I want because people don't want that, I can't stop being what I am just because my mom doesn't like it, I can't stop being this way because I like it, I'm happier this way and maybe I'll end up marrying a boy and being happy and no one has the right to tell me that's not okay, no one has the right to tell me that I can't like boys and girls because it's not natural, no one has the right to tell me I can't love whoever I want to love because people don't like it or don't understand it. Repeat after me: I can love whoever I want, I can be whoever I want while I respect other people, I can be free and happy because I have the right to be.
