I'm finding the hardest part about being social to be the loneliness that follows it. When I'm surrounded by people I feel safe with then I'm having fun and being silly and just enjoying myself. But then it ends. I go home to be by myself. To sit by myself. I watch TV to fipl the silence. Or play games to occupy my mind. But the loneliness creeps in almost immediately anyway. Because even though I have friends of my own they all suck at texting. So when I'm not with them I'm isolated. I don't get to tell them about all the fun things I did and have a conversation. I don't get to reach out to them when I'm feeling down and get comforted. I don't have deep connection with anyone and I miss that so much. Unfortunately most people don't want to give you that level of connection unless you'll give them a relationship. And I just wish someone wanted to truly know me and not expect anything in return for it.

The Board of First Independent Power Limited (FIPL), a Sahara Power Group company, has announced the appointment of Dr. Kenechukwu Nwangwu, as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer as FIPL moves to ramp up generation via alternative energy sources.

According to Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director, Sahara Power Group, the appointment will drive FIPL’s ongoing transformation towards sustainable and efficient power generation, especially in the Niger Delta and South-South regions of Nigeria.

“We are excited to welcome Kenechukwu to the team at a time when Sahara Group is moving swiftly towards more responsible power generation in line with our commitment to promoting environmental sustainability. We also believe our young engineers will have a lot to learn from the vast experience Kenechukwu is bringing to FIPL,” he said.
Adesina said since acquisition in 2013, FIPL had achieved a remarkable capacity increase from 143 MW to 429 MW through continuous investment in overhauls, technology, and human capital. He also commended the Rivers State Government for its unwavering support and contribution to FIPL’s continuing success.
“We will continue to strengthen our collaboration with the government and good people of Rivers State towards enhancing industrialization and galvanizing socio-economic growth through FIPL’s efficient power generation and corporate citizenship,” he said.
Adesina added that FIPL’s team of young engineers continue to infuse technology driven solutions that are facilitating top performance “while preparing FIPL for a future of smart energy generation powered by a healthy mix of different energy sources.”
Nwangwu who brings over two decades of professional experience to FIPL, said he found the FIPL project “exceptional and future ready”. He said: “Just like other entities under the Sahara Group, FIPL has a unique value proposition for all stakeholders. I am delighted to join the vision of bringing energy to life responsibly to all stakeholders with Team FIPL.”
Nwangwu joins FIPL from Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, where he was the CEO, SPDC JV Afam VI 650MW Combined Cycle Power Plant. He led the business creditably with notable achievement in enhancing uptime, optimizing production, and reducing generation losses.
Besides being a Fellow of several professional bodies, Kenechukwu holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Graduate Certificate in Oil and Gas Engineering at the SITP/ Robert Gordon University Aberdeen program, and a master’s degree in Petroleum Technology from Curtin University Australia. He also holds two Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) degrees from Maverick Business Academy London and Commonwealth University.
With a total installed capacity of 541MW, FIPL is a Power generation company located in Rivers State, in the Niger Delta region of Southern Nigeria. FIPL has four Power plants under its portfolio strategically located across the State in Afam (180MW), Omoku (150MW), Trans Amadi (136MW) and Eleme (75MW).

Tata Motors' subsidiary acquires Ford's plant in Gujarat in Rs 726 crore deal

New Delhi , August 8 (AF): Tata Motors' electric vehicle arm Tata Passenger Electric Mobility has acquired a Ford India manufacturing plant situated at Sanand in Gujarat for a total consideration of Rs 725.7 crore.
The deal includes land and buildings, a vehicle manufacturing plant along with machinery and equipment as well as the transfer of all eligible employees of the vehicle manufacturing operations at Sanand, Tata Motors said late Sunday evening in a regulatory filing.
Ford India will, however, continue to operate its Powertrain Manufacturing Facility by leasing back the land and buildings of the Powertrain Manufacturing Plant from the Tata Motors' subsidiary on mutually agreed terms, the stock exchange filing said.
"The closure of the transaction will be subject to the receipt of relevant approvals from the government authorities and fulfillment of customary condition precedents. The government of Gujarat, TPEML and FIPL have already executed a tripartite MoU on 30th May 2022 to support all relevant approvals for the above transaction," it stated.
For Tata Motors, this deal is expected to unlock a state-of-the-art manufacturing capacity of 300,000 units per annum which is scalable to 420,000 units per annum.
Tata will make the necessary investments to reconfigure the plant to adapt to its needs. The unit is also adjacent to the existing manufacturing facility of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles at Sanand, which should help in a smooth transition.
"Today's announcement marks an important step forward in Ford's ongoing business restructuring in India, which is part of our Ford+ plan for strategic transformation. With the transfer of employment for eligible vehicle manufacturing employees included in the agreement, this milestone also highlights our best effort in caring for those impacted by the restructuring," said Steve Armstrong, Transformation Officer of Ford Motor Company.
Both Tata and Ford India will work together over the next few months to satisfy all the condition precedents and obtain the required regulatory approvals for the closure of the transaction, the filing said. (AF)

The long-running talks between Tata Motors and Ford to buy the Ford plant in Sanand have now ended. Tata Motors recently acquired Ford India's Sanand (Gujarat) plant. According to reports, Tata Motors' subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEML) has bagged a deal worth Rs 725.7 crore for the plant.
As per the agreement, Tata Motors will own the entire plant land, home plant and vehicles as well as its machinery and equipment. TPEML will also recruit all qualified employees at the Sanand plant who will work under the leadership of Tata. However, Ford will continue to operate the powertrain manufacturing facility by leasing the land and premises of the TPEML powertrain manufacturing plant on mutually agreed upon terms.
TPEML Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said: “Today's agreement with FIPL is a win-win for all stakeholders and will allow Tata Motors to strengthen its leadership in the passenger car segment and the electric vehicle segment. Step by step towards the growth and development of the Indian automobile industry, and the future of an Automnivhar India.
The Tata Motors subsidiary has agreed to hire qualified employees from the Ford plant if Ford decides to wind down those operations at a later stage, the statement said.
Tata Motors has announced that with the acquisition of the new plant, the company will be able to produce an additional 3,00,000 vehicles per year which can be increased to 4,20,000 units if required.
Steve Armstrong, Chief Transformation Officer, Ford Motor Company said, "This agreement is an important milestone in the ongoing restructuring of Ford's business in India, which is part of our strategic transformation plan." It also underlines our best efforts to take care of those affected by the restructuring, besides transferring jobs to qualified automotive workers involved in the transaction.
Ford has stopped manufacturing its cars in India. The company decided to shut down its business in India due to continuous losses over the last decade. Ford has two plants in India at Sanand and Chennai. The company used to manufacture small cars like Figo, Freestyle, Aspire in Sanand while EcoSport and Endeavor were manufactured at the Chennai plant.
Despite many difficulties, the company was manufacturing cars and engines for export. Now this journey is over. Due to decline in car sales, the company suffered huge losses and eventually the company decided to exit the Indian market. So far companies like Chevrolet, Datsun, Harley Davidson, Fiat and General Motors have left India.
