firexspotted is one of those things where even as a kid I realized that it was wrong

when i was a kid i didn't even see it, it wasn't until years later i saw that it was a thing i always read their relationship as like a big sister and little brother relationship

i thought spottedleaf came to firepaw/heart/star in his dreams so often because she had protective older sister energy, that's why she stayed around the medicine den even though she should've been in starclan, because she was scared of firepaw/heart getting hurt or killed and it was all she could do to feel like she could protect him

i thought the whole thing in firestar's quest was entirely on firestar's end and that his grief for his basically older sister was preventing him from being able to let himself deeply love someone (in any form) again out of fear of losing them and not being able to save them

The reasons I don’t like the FirexSpotted ship are many:

1. They only interacted like 4 times. This might be enough for Fire to get a crush, and it would make sense for him to mourn the possibility of a relationship when she died... Except there never was the possibility of a relation, since she’s a medicine cat. Bummer.

2. The HUGE age-gap. Yes, I acknowledge that Spotted was called ‘young and pretty’ in the first book, but this has since been disproven. In fact, in that passage it is said that ‘’Spotted is young and pretty, while Darkstripe is neither’’. 

In reality? Spotted had 2 littermates: Redtail, who had been deputy for a long time, and Willowpelt, who... gave birth to Darkstripe.

Darkstripe is actually Spottedleaf’s nephew, she is older than him.

Also, Spotted was an apprentice when Bluestar was still a warrior, not even a deputy. Bluestar is going grey when Firepaw arrived, so Spottedleaf was likely already middle-aged. You’re shipping a new apprentice (so a teenager) with a middle-aged cat.

3. How weak the story would be. Seriously, a kind cat described as young and pretty meets the MC and BAM, insta-love. Why would people prefer this over a relationship that slowly evolves from mutual dislike to friends to lovers through mutual admiration of each other’s skills and personality? 

Seriously this ship is so weird why would you ship them?

Firestar - The OG boy! The one that started everything so many years ago! I have always had such a soft spot in my heart for Firestar, being able to watch his adventure unfold from an outcast to one of the most respected cats in all of the clans, as a little girl. I've always loved Firestar- I think one of my favorite scenes is when he sits with Yellowfang when she's dying and tells her about every good memory they have together. I love the idea of him going from this little tiny kit to this just massive, stronk cat. I could never imagine him as a tabby, so I love his Abyssian designs!! I bet when he purrs it's REALLY OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD Graystripe - It has been so long since I have read a Warriors book that I haven't been able to keep up on Graystripe, other than he had his own book and it was really good ;; I always loved how loyal of a friend he was towards Firestar, but I distinctly remember being incredibly frustrated with him when I was first reading through the series and his romance with Silverstream, followed by his subsequent bouncing between clans. Now I don't mind it, but when I was little, I was MAD. I also like that he was able to settle back down as he got older with Millie- I really like that it showed he could love again and was able to move on while still honoring Silverstream. Ravenpaw - I haven't read Ravenpaw's story yet, either- but I love this boy! Big ears are a must. Very nervous boy! One of my top 10 favorite characters- I love how even though he was afraid, he came back to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Firestar against BloodClan. I don't really have too much to say about him- dark kitty, white patch on chest! Loved his brother Dustpelt so much but never felt as good as him. Tigerstar - A horrible man- disgusting! But his character was already really interesting to me, and the characterization that Cushfuddled made with him was spot on- I love!! I love the concept that he legitimately thought that taking over ThunderClan was in their best interest and he was honestly convinced that he was doing the right thing. Big cat, maybe Maine Coon or Norweigan Forest cat? Just BIG AND LARGE. His design pulls a lot of inspiration for Nifty-senpai's design for Tigerstar! Spottedleaf - Man, I was never really a fan of Spottedleaf and I absolutely HATE FirexSpotted. I feel like it was more of a tiny crush on Firepaw's end like "ooh she's pretty! uwu" but nothing more than that. I really hate the writing on how that was dragged out into him loving her forever. I mean, when he joined the clan, she was literally old enough to be his mother? I just... don't like it. Design wise- she is small and has round-shapes  Her ears are small and round, compared to Redtail's, that are large and have tufts. While Redtail's design is much more simple, Spottedleaf's is much busier (based on my favorite design for her by cityswarriorkitties on Tumblr). I honestly love in Twin Shadows (by Cushfuddled) SandxSpotted ;; I love it so, so much Bluestar - Bluestar is the worst. 10/10, dislike. I love my design for her, but just in general dislike her character a ton. I could do a complete character analysis for her as to why I dislike her, but I think my main reason is by naming Brightpaw 'Lostface'. Even if she was mentally struggling at the time (which I think we have all been there!), she, someone who holds the HIGHEST power and respect in the clan, took our her anger on a CHILD (a literal CHILD) by naming her 'Lostface'. You cannot take our your anger on a literal child. Imagine if a teacher- no, the principal- went to school and was having a really hard time with everything in life, and took a child who was just HORRIBLY misfigured and would be for the rest of her life- and named her LOSTFACE. Not even that, a Warrior name is almost sacred to Warrior cats- it is their entire identity. It's just cruel, disgusting, and I could never forgive her after that fact.

Sandstorm kinda sucks

I’m just going to say it; If you go back and reread The Prophecies Begin, Sandstorm actually kind of sucks. 

This isn’t because of some kind of FireXSpotted stan. There’s really no reason for me to go into why FirexSpotted sucks at this point. We all realize that having an obsession with your childhood crush that you shared hardly any interactions with is weird.

Genuinely though, one of the things that surprised me in my reread of TPB is how much of the fandom’s perception of Sandstorm really does vary from the way she actually acts in the first series. I’m strictly talking about TPB here, not Firestar’s Quest or anything after this. Even I had this image of reliving the Sandstorm of my childhood; this snarky, loyal, fun character with a mind of her own and.....she kind of just....isn’t?

We all know that in Into the Wild she is a big brat but also can be fun, and she is very respectful of her clanmates (other than Fireheart, an outsider). The catalyst for her crush on Fireheart is when he saves her from falling into the gorge in Fire and Ice. And, honestly, after that point, she loses a lot of personality independent from her relationship with Fireheart. 

She also never truly loses her prejudices either? Like, she may have crushed on Fireheart, not clanborn, but she is blatantly a douche to Graystripe only minutes after his WIFE DIES TRAGICALLY and frequently tries to convince Fireheart not to go looking for Cloudpaw/tail when he is taken by the Twolegs. These prejudices do add some dynamics and flaws to her character...but...they kind of make her relationship with Fireheart just....not really make sense.

It’s not that she has no redeeming qualities, it’s more that she’s just written pretty inconsistently. Sometimes she’s snarky, sometimes she’s sweet and understanding towards Fireheart, sometimes she is wise, and sometimes she’s just whiny. It’s not done in a way that makes her multi-dimensional like Yellowfang, it’s done in a way that is just kind of jarring. 

I wish we had had more time with her aside from her crush on Fireheart. One of her best subtle character moments is that she is actually the cat that comforts Cinderpelt when Yellowfang dies...I... kind of wish it had been Brackenfur because that would have made a bit more sense...but it’s still a sweet moment.

In Rising Storm, Fireheart is devastated from losing his nephew and snaps at Sandstorm for taking for granted that she has kin in Thunderclan. Rather than comforting him or apologizing or acknowledging that that is true, she gets mad at him for taking their relationship for granted and storms off. Ultimately, he apologizes to her and she never ends up acknowledging that losing Cloudpaw must be painful. Even after Ravenpaw makes it pretty clear that Cloudpaw is miserable as a kittypet and wants to come home, Sandstorm still doesn’t support Fireheart trying to go get him, but follows anyway. I feel like this is a great example of how these two just don’t seem to genuinely connect or understand one another, other than thinking that the other is hot.

Fireheart also continually disrespects her by denying her an apprentice that he knows she desperately wants. I know he has his reasons, but his reasons essentially boil down to him thinking she can’t handle herself. 

This lack of likable connection probably could have been solved by giving Sandstorm more of the scenes and conversations that Cinderpelt and Fireheart end up sharing together. CinderxFire is not for me, but I can’t deny that these two probably share the most genuinely written and developed connection that Fireheart has (along with Yellowfang and Graystripe) in series one. 

All in all, I wouldn’t say I dislike Sandstorm or deeply dislike their relationship, I just think it suffered from a lack of consistency and ended up being pretty forced because she was the only eligible bachelorette. And her characterization ends up suffering because of it.

first, my favorite: firestar and sandstorm from the cat fight books!!they had a lot of development (much more than FirexSpotted). when fire first joined the clan sand was all like “lol ur a kittypet so you succ��� but then she like, slowly but completely falls in love with him??? and fire does the same?? and their “i love you but i’ll still argue with you” kinda thing that i can sense there is really good and i love it

now my LEAST favorite (DISCLAIMER: IF YOU SHIP THIS I HONESTLY DO NOT CARE. I HATE THE SHIP, NOT THE PEOPLE WHO SHIP IT.): T/o/m/To/r/d from e/d/d/s/w/o/r/l/d. I absolutely hate this ship?? so much?? it’s pretty shitty because 1) tom and tord both state multiple times that they hate each other2) the real tom said that it’s a shit ship and that the fact that people make /p/o/r/n/ out of it is gross so3) tom practically kills tord in the series finale4) it’s a ""love-hate"" relationship and you always know those end well5) it’s severely overrated, and most of the younger fans ship it because they think it’s hot or something6) when tom leaves in part one of the series finale tords all happy and stuff, if they were doin the do I think tord would be upset about him leaving. but was he?? no he was all smug about it

I just wanna converse about warriors and ya'll can join me But I love how Starclan says they have no real power but yet tell Cinderpelt she's going to die. But couldn't tell Bluestar about Tigerclaw?? Also why did Squirrelflight need to open her fat mouth about the three to Ashfur? Did she really think he was just going to leave her alone? There was no need for her to open her mouth. And do not get me started on CrowxLeaf. Like FirexSpotted, this ship had nothing to go on to. Crowfeather literally just looked at Leafpool, grumbled some words and finally decided he was in love with her. Like they never did anything but say a few words to each other and all of sudden they're in love? Also was the clan so damn gullible they believe Squirrelflight just happened to give birth to three kits without showing any signs and suddenly not able to give milk? And early BramblexSquirrel was such a toxic ship. Squirrelflight was a control freak and point blank told Brambleclaw this relationship was going to work because he wouldn't do as she say and stop talking to Hawkfrost. Even though she was right about him, there was no need to tell him he couldn't talk to someone. This series is shit and I can't stop reading
