So I'm watching the Walking Dead now and it made me think a zombie apocalypse show can't work in Europe. You walk half a day anywhere in Europe you find another city, it wouldn't take too long to go to the important city (idk if they make it to Washington I'm only on season 5)

I live near the Mediterranean and on foot it would take me a little less than a week to walk to Paris and I'm pretty much on the other side of the country. Let's say two to three weeks going slowly because of zombies and other treats. And France is the second biggest country in Europe after Ukraine (Russia doesn't count it's a thing of its own).

Je viens de télécharger l'appli française pour le pass sanitaire alors que j'ai déjà ma certification de vaccin européene avec l'application allemande pour la seule et unique raison que c'était plus rapide que de continuer ma recherche sur les sites gouvernementaux etc... si les pass sanitaire d'autres pays de l'UE sont également valable sur le territoire français

Bilan des 6 mois - Partie 1 - Ce qui nous a étonné ?!

Montreal, le 25 Avril, 6 mois après…..

22 octobre 2019 15h45, nous disons au revoir aux grands parents a l’aéroport Charles de Gaulles.

22 Avril 2020 a la même heure, tous à la maison pour le gouter de Mateo entre 2 réunions …..

Entre temps; 6 mois qui sont passés a la vitesse de la lumière - 6 mois tronqués hélas par 1,5 mois de confinement durant lesquels nous n’avons pas pu continuer a visiter le Quebec comme on le souhaitait ….

6 mois c’est aussi le moment de faire un 1er bilan de notre vie ici avec ses bons cotés et ses interrogations. Nous avons donc placé une feuille blanche dans le salon et avons tous les 3 couché sur le papier nos états d’âme. Autant Mateo n’avait pas trop eu son mot a dire pour venir ici du fait de son âge, autant il commence a bien sentir les choses et aura son mot a dire sur sa vie ici mais aussi sur les prochaines décisions importantes que nous devrons prendre en 2021 (prolonge t’on notre permis temporaire ?), en 2022 (Prolonge t’on notre immigration sachant que Aurelie devra alors démissionner de la SG ?), en 2024 (décide t’on de rester encore et encore et donc je devrai démissionner de EDF…)…. Bref encore de belles décisions a prendre a 2,5 :)

Donc il y a 6 mois nous étions a l’aéroport a 17h45, attendant nos permis temporaires dans le hall de l’aéroport Trudeau (le papa de l’actuel 1er ministre)

L’attente des permis.....ce fut un peu long....

Depuis nous avons visité plein de lieux, un bout de la région du QC le long du saint Laurent, rencontré des personnes de tous les coins du monde, découverts les coutumes et le mode de vie des canadiens…..tout cela nous permet de lister les premiers choses qui nous ont marquées.

Alors on commence par la première partie avec les Interrogations - ceci nous a surpris ici :

Les magasins : c’est la foire ici dans les magasins. Autant en France les enseignes sont relativement spécialisées (FNAC, Décathlon, Leroy Merlin, Super U…) - autant ici il y a de tout partout

Canadian Tyre est un magasin a la base vendant du bricolage et des produits automobiles (lave glace,…) : he ben on va retrouver aussi des meubles, des jeux pour enfant, de la nourriture, des articles de chasse…

Jean Coutu : une pharmacie….dans laquelle on retrouve des magazines, de la nourriture, des jouets pour enfant, des vêtements…

Les magasins font tout le temps des promotions, le Canada est le pays des circulaires = ces pile de prospectus que l’on reçoit toutes les semaines de l’ensemble des enseignes afin de nous faire profiter de mega-prix. En Frqnce on en recoit toujours dans les boites aux lettres, ici c’est mega XXL. Le grand jeu national est de pister les bonnes affaires sur des produits qui peuvent, d’un magasin a l’autre, avoir une énorme différence de prix - l’objectif est alors de tenter de ne pas se faire entuber en payant trop. C’est assez étonnant comme activité mais les gens ici aiment bien.

Les écarts de température : bon OK l’hiver est frais et long (Nov a Avril - on a encore eu -7° le 20 avril) mais ce qui est surtout étonnant ce sont les écarts de températures entre 2 journées consécutives. Il n’est pas rare de chuter ou monter de 15° en une nuit, c’est fou cet écart et c’est arrivé plusieurs fois cet hiver.

Le nombre de chiens : on est a Montreal, dans un quartier de condos (appartements ) et il y a des chiens partout, énormément d’habitants de Montreal ont des chiens et vivent en appartement - alors oui ça existe en France sauf qu’on remarque qu’il y en a plus ici au m2 et qu’ on ne parle pas de caniche ou de york : on parle de doberman, bouviers bernois, bergers en tout genre….des mastodontes. Je ne sais pas comment ils font pour vivre dans les appartements…

La qualité de la nourriture : franchement c’était un point qui nous faisait peur - manger de la junk food comme aux US. Rapidement on a été bien surpris. Des marchés sympa dont le marché Atwater a coté de chez nous. Aurelie s’est inscrite aux Fermes LUFA : ensemble de producteurs autour de Montreal qui nous livre 1/sem des produits de la région (produits laitiers, viandes, fruits, légumes…) ou alors sont originaires de de plus loin mais bios. Effectivement on mange quand même des fruits des US ou Amérique Centrale donc le bilan carbone n’est pas neutre mais on fait tout pour compenser. On peut aussi acheter pas mal en vrac et Aurelie s’y est mise a fond pour limiter encore nos déchets (dentifrice, savon, gel douche…en plus de la nourriture qu’on faisait déjà a Lyon). Le Quebec ne peut encore pas alimenter la population en Fruits et légumes tout au long de l’année - du fait de l’hiver - mais LUFA a commencé a mettre en place des serres a Montreal (sur les toits des immeubles) qui peuvent produire toute l’année en aquaponie (je vous laisse aller voir pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas)

Le nombre de Barbecue : Autre sport national ici. Qui n’a pas sont BBQ ici dans son jardin ou sur son balcon…et pas la petite plaque tout merdique sur un tas de charbon…non ici de sont des ensembles all inclusive énormes…c’est a celui qui aura le plus gros. On n’en a pas acheté mais sur la terrasse de la résidence, ils en ont mis plusieurs pour les habitants

Retour de Matéo : ici il n’y a pas de Peugeot ni de Renault…et c’est très très étonnant :D

L’accent et quelques expressions (« Cerise sur le cupcake » au lieu de cerise sur le gâteau. On avait déjà un peu abordé la question…

Voila pour un 1er jet des choses qui nous ont étonnées….Prochain article sur les choses qu’on aime moins ou qui nous ont déçues….Hé oui le pays parfait n’existe pas, a nous de savoir jongler entre les points positifs et moins bons qu’en France pour réussir a nous intégrer et vivre pleinement cette expérience.

Nous voila - 6 mois plus tard - on va bien :D

december 25, 2017 Christmasing on my own terms. or that annual Christmas post I promised. this morning, on messenger, one of my godchildren said 'merry christmas nang! namamasko po, I love you!' at that moment I knew it was Christmas. all I wanted was to go home and spend Christmas day with them. I want to be their Santa. I want to see lots of people, do lots of things that I haven't done today. For the past few years, Christmas has been sedate, and is usually felt after the day itself, the spirit and the commercial value of it. it's been about waiting, lots of waiting...on people and their moods, on free days, on a chance, on my turn. growing up, Christmas had always been about giving, and when I was a lot younger, lots of taking, receiving, and expecting to receive. as i got older, Christmas became smaller, and receiving, though met with a grateful heart had been a struggle, because my hands have always been empty. this may not be the merriest christmas yet, but it's the most awake, the most alive. it's the one christmas that has allowed me to hope the most. it's not the Christmas in my head, it's the Christmas I did not expect. It's the Christmas built by those who taught me to want for myself, so that i may be able to give like i always wished. the book team team of sc, ms. van, ms. melai, jorell - you are definitely my best blessings this year. for redefining success for me, for showing me it's okay to make mistakes, for showing me that it's okay to take time to think. for waiting for my answers, and hearing my voice. to my titos and titas and ninongs and ninangs and ates and kuyas who nudged me in the right direction and did not push me over, even when there was no one there to catch me. you allowed me my own timing. you knew i couldn't do it on my own, you knew I did not know much, so you did not expect me to. for not asking if i am doing anything in my life, because you know that what I am in the middle of legitimately counts, and is the biggest step I have taken yet. you have allowed me to enjoy the process, even if you probably don't understand, or even if it's not what you expected of me. this year, my heart has become a chameleon, loving as many people my heart can possibly hold. since 2011, my heart has worn so many different colors with ease, because you never question how i love, and how much i can give. (okay, some do, but those who know me well, let me be), and i am thankful for that. I should mention the yellow, green and the blue - my babies who always make me feel appreciated. and to team forever, i am forever yours, I'll forever come back to you. and the people for whom i have found myself in your trajectory. to my janie, kel, and trace - I wouldn't have gotten through this year without you. madame frqnce, for being my voice of reason, teacher, and shockabsorber. I love you all. much love too, to my college friends, highschool friends, professors, teachers, whose shoulders I cry on, those who have known me forever, and with whom i can be myself, for being my constant reminders. my family, for those in my everyday, those who I wish flew to visit me here, and those who make me want to fly just to see them. for all the distance and happy dysfunction, I wouldn't trade us for the world. you don't make me regret anything, not even my ljust as the celebration of Christmas changes, love evolves. it's around 6pm on Christmas night. it's quiet as i am writing this - around 6pm on Christmas night, and i can finally breathe. Christmas isn't over, I still have a few days left. a blessed, merry, steady (take which ever applies) Christmas everyone. much love.
