The Preserve at Sharp Mountain from HIGH CALIBER REALTY on Vimeo.
214 Mystic Trail Lane, Jasper, GA 30143. You can make your home or week in getaway on this wonderful, secluded 3+ acre lot, in a gated community, surrounded on three sides by a park and walking trails. Whether you want to build your small North Georgia mountain retreat or your own mega mountain family home this is the property. Low HOA fees. A 3D immersion walk-through is available at https://tinyurl.com/MtnLand click a camera tripod and then floorplan to walk the property virtually.
This Property is in “The Preserve at Sharp Mountain” (also called The Sharp Mountain Preserve) is a nature-based community located near Jasper, Georgia, in Pickens County. It is one of three mountain communities in Pickens County, and the only one dedicated to maintaining its natural amenities. There are 12 miles of paved roads running through the community, but the population density is intentionally low (approximately 300 lots over 1,600 acres (6.5 km2) ranging in size from a minimum of 3 acres to a maximum of 37 acres.) The Preserve at Sharp Mountain was named the "Best Community for Outdoor Lovers" by Pinnacle Living magazine,[1] Unlike many planned communities, the Preserve at Sharp Mountain does not have swimming pools and tennis courts with club houses or golf courses. Instead, the Preserve at Sharp Mountain offers many acres of green space, hiking and nature trails, a nature pavilion, waterfalls, a bird sanctuary, a butterfly garden and various nature parks. The community is gated to restrict use of its 12 miles of privately owned roads to those living in the community. The Preserve at Sharp Mountain was developed by Four Seasons originally, which later became Naterra Land.[2] Naterra's stated goal in all of its projects is "to better connect people with nature." Naterra Land sold out all of its inventory in the Preserve, and control of the community is now governed by a Property Owners' Association (POA). In 2011, the Preserve Association switched from being an HOA (Home Owners' Association) to being a POA (Property Owners' Association), each being viewed differently under Georgia law. In 2008 the Preserve became a recognized member of the national Firewise [3] communities program and is one of the 13 in Georgia. Here is link to the website sharp-mountain.com/ The community is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and offers 70-mile (110 km) panoramic views. The city of Atlanta can be seen on the horizon from Sharp Mountain (2,333 feet (711 meters) MSL @ LAT 34.43898, LON -84.506873)[4] and Tally Mountain (1,903 feet (580 meters) MSL @ LAT 34.453723, LON -84.492457).[5] The climate is that of a temperate southeastern forest. Flora includes red and white oak families, tulip poplar, maple, dogwood, and at the higher elevations, sourwood trees. Wild turkeys, fox, bobcat, deer, various species of hawks and owls, golden eagles, and an occasional black bear live within the community. Residents of the Preserve are an approximately ten minutes drive away from the Jasper business district and seven minutes from the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.[6] North Georgia is also "wine country," and hosts a number of large wineries, one of which,[7] is immediately adjacent to the Preserve on the southeast corner. The Sharp Mountain Vineyards produces approximately 11 tons annually with winery capacity of 800 cases per year. It has won several awards for its wines and is a popular stop on the yearly Georgia wine tour. The Pickens County airport[8] with its 5000 x 100-foot (1524 x 30.5m) air strip at a field elevation of 1,535 ft (468 m) MSL lies three miles (4.8 km) to the East. Community Features include: • Acreage: 1,600 acres (650 hectares) encompassing parts of Sharp Mountain, Tally Mountain, and Henderson Mountain. • Density: Zoned to allow no less than 3 acres (1.2 hectares) lots. • Recreation: Hiking and biking trails, a bird sanctuary, wildlife feeding area, and 8 nature parks • Parks: 8 different parks, each featuring gazebos, barbecues, playgrounds, native plant gardens, rock and hewn wood tables, and an open-air lodge and formal lawn. • Infrastructure: Private gated community with 12 miles of wide paved roads, underground utilities with high speed DSL. • Structures and Protections: Community has covenants and architectural guidelines. • Security: Gated entrance with security cameras. All of the land within The Preserve at Sharp Mountain is owned by individual entities and the developer is no longer selling lots, although lots and homes do come onto the market from time to time. Of the approximately 311 lots within the community, in 2022 about 146 had either been built upon, in process, or approved to begin construction. Several homes have private swimming pools and some are dedicated to equestrian pursuits.

Good evening, everyone! We have yet another #HarborDefenseHappyBirthday to celebrate! We would like to wish a Happy 206th Birthday to Brigadier General Lewis G. Arnold, who was born on (Wednesday) January 15th, 1817 in Perth Amboy, NJ! General Arnold's career began with his graduation from West Point in 1837, where he ranked 10th in his Class. He would see action in the Second Seminole War in Florida (1835-42), the Mexican-American War (1846-48), and then back to Florida for the Third Seminole War (1855-58) The Civil War found him assigned to Fort Jefferson on Dry Tortugas, and then on to present-day Fort Pickens adjacent to Pensacola, where he viciously defended the installations from multiple Confederate attacks. Promoted to Brigadier General in January of 1862, he was reassigned to New Orleans in October. Tragically, a month later, he was cut down by a stroke. Although all were optimistic in his recovery, he was left disabled, and thus medically retired in February, 1864. He passed away in Boston on Sept 22nd, 1871. However, his legacy would not be allowed to vanish. In recognition of his fierce combat record, the Army would honor him as the namesake of a Battery in his Native New Jersey. In War Department General Order No. 105, dated Oct 9th, 1902, the three-gun 12-inch caliber disappearing gun battery at Fort Mott, NJ, located on Finn's Point in Pennsville on the Delaware River, part of the Defenses of Philadelphia, was named for him. Built in 1896, completed in '98 and transferred to the Coast Artillery in '99, it served honorably until cut up in 1943, a victim of the WW2 scrap drives. Of note, Ft Mott, now an NJ State Park, is one of the most beautifully preserved Spanish American War-era Coast Artillery posts in the US. Although most of the buildings are gone (removed historically in the 1920's-30's) the batteries have undergone intensive restoration. Due to extensive concrete work, they even look "new"! (Battery Arnold is seen here in Pic 4, from 2016) Folks, we can't encourage you enough to visit Ft Mott if you get the chance. It is the only Fort in NJ where you can visit the interiors of gun batteries on self-guided tours. https://www.instagram.com/p/CndWL1ltS4d/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
