So for this one, I'm gonna go really old school and share one of my digital paintings from 2011:

Those who only know me through Cyberpunk might not know that I am a huge, huge, huge Tomb Raider fan, and in 2011, I was invited to participate in an official art event with a couple dozen other artists (fan and pro) to celebrate Lara and also help hype up the new game. (At the time was slated for release in 2012, although obviously, it ended up coming out in early 2013 instead.)

Then in 2016, for the 20-year anniversary, this actually got published in an official, physical Tomb Raider book (along with a very, very old drawing I did of Lara when I was about 13, I think).

Although I, unfortunately, ended up not liking where the most recent trilogy took Lara's character development, I did really enjoy the 2013 game, and I did feel some parallels between Lara's struggle to find her own strength with where I was in life at the time I was working on this painting. It still blows my mind that something so deeply personal to me also gets to be a tiny part of Lara's legacy. 💙

Clearing the air and more

Seems a toxic comic fan mispresented everything I was trying to say (I’m not going to link it) It can be best summed up as page that is one big “NU-UH!” What they are saying is pure gaslighting garbage with helpings of DARVO (Deny, Attack ,and reverse victim, and offender.) so let’s get a few things clear...

1)I never called for “Gatekeeping” nor did I ever ever say rubbish like “Stop disliking things I like!” 

2) Never did I once say that snarky criticism or that criticising bad writing is is akin to death threats. 

3) In relation to the two points above, I was calling out the disrespectful treatment and ad homidium attacks they levering at professional creators and how, in turn they lead to a toxic atmosphere of bullying where, as result, some dangerous morons would think you’re giving them the thumbs-up to go after a creator.

  *To them, G**m G*b**n, O**tr**s****bl*g and other toxic fans* So the writer wrote a few stories you didn’t like. Okay, You have every right to dislike an author's work along with every right to criticize said work. That said, it doesn’t it give you the right to personally insult their personal character or vilify them! Look, writers like Joshua Williamson, James Tynion IV and Scott Snyder among others are not perfect, they make mistakes and might produce the occasional flop but they are great writers. They know what they are doing, they love Cass and Steph, know them very well. Plus, they how much we care about them. Sure, because of comic book stuff (Rebooting the universe every so often and editorial direction etc.) these versions of Cass and Steph may not be the same as their old counterparts-in fact, they may be completely different characters-but they're still the same characters we know and love in spirit. Yet no matter many fantastic Orphan/Spoiler/Batgirls stories they give us, you keep spitting them out, shouting “It’s not good enough!” and accuse them of “Destroying them even more.” Nothing is ever “good enough” for you. Nothing ever pleases you. It’s “One More Day” all over again. For you, ever since “War Games” and “Robin: One Year Later,” Cass and Steph have been “ruined forever.” What!?!  Did these stories really “ruin them” for you? Did they really “ruin them” for you so much that you now hate every single thing remotely related to them? Even if those things, though not perfect, are trying desperately to please you?

To quote Peggy Hill:  "They don't know what they want...only what they DON'T want."

These “fans” don’t want “new stories”. They just want to live in an endless time-loop, in an age of innocence before horrible storylines like "One More Day," "Avengers Academy: Arena," "Avengers Undercover," "War Games" and "Robin: One Year Later" ever happed yet here, they never happen. This shows that they're no better than, if very much alike, the far-right, fascist men-children of The fandom Menace/Comicsgate/Gamergate clamoring for an eternal "EXXXTREEEEMMMMMEEEEE", "apolitical" past when there was "no feminist, diversity-hire, virtual-signaling pandering junk" and other stupid claims. Linkara has words for both groups:

I understand the hurt you feel, I understand the wanting to relieve the “Arcadia of your youth” before those horrendous storylines happened. Sadly, no-matter how much you want it, that age of innocence is never going to come back. What is past will forever be in the past. 

Instead of dwelling on things that made us angry, instead attacking creators just doing their jobs, we could be much better, more healthy fandom. A fandom celebrates a better, more positive future without letting go of happy memories.  A fandom that doesn’t tear down people (creators or fans). 

We are better then this. We need to change.

(These values imply block if the operand cbs is also specified.) There are four conversion maps for EBCDIC. The value ebcdic specifies the recommended one which is compatible with AT&T System V UNIX. The value ibm is a slightly different mapping, which is compatible with the AT&T System V UNIX ibm value. The values oldebcdic and oldibm are maps used in historic AT&T UNIX and pre-4.3BSD-Reno systems. lcase Transform uppercase characters into lowercase characters. noerror Do not stop processing on an input error. When an input error occurs, a diagnostic message followed by the current input and output block counts will be written to the standard error output in the same format as the standard completion message. If the sync conversion is also specified, any missing input data will be replaced with NUL bytes (or with spaces if a block oriented conversion value was specified) and processed as a normal input buffer. If the sync conversion is not specified, the input block is omitted from the output. On input files which are not tapes or pipes, the file offset will be positioned past the block in which the error occurred using lseek(2). notrunc Do not truncate the output file. This will preserve any blocks in the output file not explicitly written by dd. The notrunc value is not supported for tapes. osync Pad the final output block to the full output block size. If the input file is not a multiple of the output block size after conversion, this conversion forces the final output block to be the same size as preceding blocks for use on devices that require regularly sized blocks to be written. This option is incompatible with use of the bs=n block size specification. sparse If one or more output blocks would consist solely of NUL bytes, try to seek the output file by the required space instead of filling them with NULs, resulting in a sparse file. swab Swap every pair of input bytes. If an input buffer has an odd number of bytes, the last byte will be ignored during swapping. sync Pad every input block to the input buffer size. Spaces are used for pad bytes if a block oriented conversion value is specified, otherwise NUL bytes are used. ucase Transform lowercase characters into uppercase characters. unblock Treats the input as a sequence of fixed length records independent of input and output block boundaries. The length of the input records is specified by the cbs operand. Any trailing space characters are discarded and a newline character is appended.

A truncated input block is one where a variable length record oriented conversion value was specified and the input line was too long to fit in the conversion record or was not newline ter- minated.

Normally, data resulting from input or conversion or both are aggregated into output blocks of the specified size. After the end of input is reached, any remaining output is written as a block. This means that the final output block might be shorter than the output block size.

The name dd is thought to be an allusion to the DD statement found in IBM's Job Control Language (JCL), where the acronym stands for 'Data Description'.

If dd receives a SIGINFO signal, the current input and output block counts will be written to the standard error output in the same format as the standard completion message. If dd receives a SIGINT signal, the current input and output block counts will be written to the standard error output in the same format as the standard completion message and dd will exit.

おうちKubernetesをOrange Piで構築する

Raspberry PiでおうちKubernetes構築 (物理編 / 論理編)を見て自分も作りたくなった。 ただあまりお金がないので、なるべく安く作ってみた。

最終ゴール

論理的には参考記事と同じ。 - Kubernetes v1.13.1 - Pod Network: Flannel

・Master × 1 ・Worker × 2 のクラスターを構築する。

物理的材料は安いもので代用して最終ゴールを目指す。

材料

全てAliExpressで購入した。 AliExpressは価格・品揃え最強だが、注文から商品到着まで時間が少々掛かるのがネック。 これを許容できるのであれば、AliExpressを使わない手はない。 今回は注文から2週間ほどで全て届いた。

ルーター⇔ハブ間のLANケーブル、SDカードリーダー等は余っているものを流用した。 OrangePiはmicro USBからの給電ができないので注意。 32bitCPUのOrange Pi PCでも問題ないと思うが、今後転用することも考えて 64bitCPUのPC 2にしてみた。

組み立て

OrangePiのCPU, メモリの部分にヒートシンクを貼る。

積層式ケースの保護シートを剥がす。 参考記事にもある通り、最難関なのがこの作業。 水にしばらく浸けると剥がしやすい。

アクリルパネルにOrangePiを組み付ける。 RaspberryPiとOrangePiは固定用の穴の位置が違っていたため、左２つしかネジで止められない。 仕方がないがそのままで。 下から、ネジ→アクリルパネル→スペーサ→OrangePi→ナットの順になるように組み付ける。

タワーを建設する。 一番上にハブを置いた。

ケーブリング。 OrangePiをハブを繋ぐ。 インターネットへ繋がっているルーターとハブとを繋ぐ。

物理的作業は以上。 次は論理的作業を行う。

OSインストール

Orange Pi用のOSイメージはOrange Pi公式サイトからダウンロードできるが、バージョンが古く評判もあまり良くない。 手を替え品を替え試したが、Dockerがうまくインストールできなかった。 http://www.orangepi.org/downloadresources/

そこで、Armbianを使うことにした。 下記からイメージをダウンロード。 https://www.armbian.com/download/ BionicはUbuntu, StretchはDebian。私はUbuntuにしたけどお好みで大丈夫。 7zip形式で圧縮されているので、The Unarchiverなどで展開する。

OSイメージをSDカードへ書き込む。 Armbianダウンロードページの「SD writing tool」リンクから辿れるbalenaEtcherを使った。 イメージとドライブを選ぶだけ。 書き込みは多分ddコマンドでも大丈夫だと思う。

sudo diskutil umount /dev/diskXs1 sudo dd bs=1m if=Ubuntu_Server_Xenial_PC2_V0_9_0.img of=/dev/rdiskX conv=sync

SDカードをOrangePiへ挿入し、電源ケーブルを繋ぐ。 電源は自動でONになる。LEDが点灯すればOK。

sshは最初から有効になっている。 ルーターのDHCPリース状況からOrangePiのIPアドレスを探す。 ユーザー名：root, パスワード：1234でログインできる。

各種設定変更

ネットワーク設定等々を３台共に行う。 ３台のOrangePiをorangepi1, orangepi2, orangepi3と名付けることにした。 以下、Xは号機の番号を示す。

ホスト名変更

$ sudo hostnamectl set-hostname orangepiX

IPアドレス固定化 環境に合わせて書き換えてください。 /etc/netplan/armbian-default.yaml

号機が分かるようにプロンプトを書き換え。 これもお好みで。 .bashrc １号機

swapを無効にする。 /etc/rc.local

再起動して設定反映。

Dockerインストール

公式のGet Docker CE for Ubuntuページをそのまま実行。 https://docs.docker.com/install/linux/docker-ce/ubuntu/ add-apt-repositoryするところはCPUの種類によって異なるので、公式ページを参照して適切なリポジトリを追加する。 Docker最新バージョンをインストールしたところKubernetesが対応していなかったので、バージョン指定してインストールした。 DockerとKubernetesの対応バージョンを確認し、適切なパッケージをインストールしてください。

$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install \ apt-transport-https \ ca-certificates \ curl \ gnupg2 \ software-properties-common $ curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu/gpg | sudo apt-key add - $ sudo add-apt-repository \ "deb [arch=arm64] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu \ $(lsb_release -cs) \ stable" $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install docker-ce=18.06.1~ce~3-0~ubuntu

勝手にアップデートされないようにholdしておく。

$ sudo apt-mark hold docker-ce

Kubernetesインストール

公式のInstalling kubeadmページをそのまま実行。 https://kubernetes.io/docs/setup/independent/install-kubeadm/#installing-kubeadm-kubelet-and-kubectl rootで作業する。

Kubernetesクラスタの構築

下記コマンドはMasterノードでのみ実行すること。 １号機orangepi1で実行した。

$ sudo kubeadm init --pod-network-cidr=10.244.0.0/16 ... Your Kubernetes master has initialized successfully! To start using your cluster, you need to run the following as a regular user: mkdir -p $HOME/.kube sudo cp -i /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf $HOME/.kube/config sudo chown $(id -u):$(id -g) $HOME/.kube/config You should now deploy a pod network to the cluster. Run "kubectl apply -f [podnetwork].yaml" with one of the options listed at: https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/cluster-administration/addons/ You can now join any number of machines by running the following on each node as root: kubeadm join 192.168.11.X:6443 --token [tokenの値] --discovery-token-ca-cert-hash sha256:[sha256の値]

クラスタ組むためにはコマンド実行してねと言われたので、指示に従う。

$ mkdir -p $HOME/.kube $ sudo cp -i /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf $HOME/.kube/config $ sudo chown $(id -u):$(id -g) $HOME/.kube/config

flannel(pods 間通信のソフトウェア)をインストールする。

$ kubectl apply -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/coreos/flannel/master/Documentation/kube-flannel.yml

２号機orangepi2, ３号機orangepi3をクラスタへ参加させる。 Kubernetesインストールの最後に表示されているコマンドを２号機, ３号機で実行。

# kubeadm join 192.168.11.X:6443 --token [tokenの値] --discovery-token-ca-cert-hash sha256:[sha256の値]

ノードの確認。 ３台登録されている。

$ kubectl get nodes NAME STATUS ROLES AGE VERSION orangepi1 NotReady master 19m v1.13.2 orangepi2 NotReady <none> 17s v1.13.2 orangepi3 NotReady <none> 14m v1.13.2

WorkerノードのROLESがになっているため、ラベルを設定。

$ kubectl label node orangepi2 node-role.kubernetes.io/worker=worker $ kubectl label node orangepi3 node-role.kubernetes.io/worker=worker

再度確認。

$ kubectl get nodes NAME STATUS ROLES AGE VERSION orangepi1 Ready master 24m v1.13.2 orangepi2 Ready worker 22m v1.13.2 orangepi3 Ready worker 19m v1.13.2

完成！ 公式のOSイメージで試していたときは問題がありすぎて悪戦苦闘。 Armbianを使ってからはスムーズだった。 １万円少々で作れるのでぜひお試しあれ。

Đảm bảo thiết bị được sạc ít nhất 50%.

Người dùng Windows sẽ cần cài đặt trình điều khiển USB OnePlus mới nhất  .

Mở khóa bộ nạp khởi động sẽ xóa hoàn toàn tất cả dữ liệu khỏi thiết bị. Điều này bao gồm các ứng dụng, cài đặt và thậm chí nội dung của thẻ sd nội bộ (hình ảnh, âm nhạc, v.v.). Sao chép tất cả các tệp quan trọng khỏi điện thoại vào PC hoặc tải chúng lên đám mây.

Tải xuống

blu_spark TWRP image, blu_spark TWRP flashable zip  – Phục hồi TWRP này có nghĩa là hoạt động với OnePlus 6 chạy trên Android Pie. Vì OnePlus 6T về cơ bản có cùng phần cứng và phần mềm, nên nó cũng hoạt động trên OnePlus 6T. Tải về cả hai tập tin.

Magisk – Magisk mới nhất.

Mở khóa bộ tải khởi động OnePlus 6T

Cảnh báo:  Sao lưu tất cả dữ liệu và ứng dụng của bạn trước khi tiến hành mở khóa bộ nạp khởi động vì chúng sẽ bị xóa trong khi thực hiện.

Tắt nguồn điện thoại của bạn.

Nhấn và giữ nút Tăng âm lượng và Nguồn cùng nhau trên OnePlus 6T của bạn cho đến khi thiết bị khởi động vào chế độ fastboot.

Kết nối nó với PC của bạn thông qua cáp USB và đảm bảo kết nối không bị lỏng.

Bây giờ hãy vào thư mục cài đặt ADB trên PC của bạn. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)

Gõ vào cmd vào thanh địa chỉ và nhấn Enter để mở một cửa sổ nhắc lệnh trong thư mục.

Bây giờ hãy xem thiết bị của bạn được kết nối đúng với PC của bạn. Để làm điều này, gõ lệnh được đưa ra dưới đây và nhấn enter.

Khi thiết bị của bạn khởi động lại, tắt nguồn thiết bị một lần nữa và khởi động vào chế độ phục hồi. Để thực hiện việc này, nhấn và giữ các nút  Nguồn và Giảm âm lượng cùng nhau trong vài giây.

Trong recovery trên OnePlus, hãy xóa tất cả dữ liệu người dùng và sau đó khởi động lại thiết bị của bạn.

Cài đặt TWRP trên OnePlus 6T

Giả sử bạn đã bật  Khởi động lại nâng cao, hãy mở menu nguồn bằng cách nhấn và giữ nút nguồn. Chọn  Reboot  >  Bootloader .

Bây giờ kết nối OnePlus 6T của bạn với PC bằng cáp USB.

Tiếp theo, khởi chạy ADB & Fastboot trên PC Windows của bạn. Bạn có thể tìm thấy nó trong menu bắt đầu hoặc tìm kiếm nó. Người dùng Mac sẽ cần khởi chạy một cửa sổ Terminal bên trong thư mục ADB. Người dùng Linux có thể chỉ cần khởi chạy Terminal do ADB cung cấp đã được cài đặt trên toàn hệ thống, như được đề cập trong hướng dẫn được liên kết ở trên.

Kiểm tra kết nối bằng cách nhập lệnh sau trong cửa sổ lệnh hoặc thiết bị đầu cuối.

Trong lệnh trên, thay thế /path/to/ bằng đường dẫn thực tế đến tệp twrp. Bạn không cần phải nhập một đường dẫn nếu tệp twrp đã được đặt trong thư mục adb. Ngoài ra, hãy đảm bảo bạn đang nhập đúng tên tệp của tệp hình ảnh TWRP. Theo văn bản này, phiên bản mới nhất là v9.86 nhưng phiên bản mới hơn sẽ có tên tệp khác.

Khi thiết bị của bạn khởi động lên TWRP, hãy chuyển đến Advanced > ADB Sideload và sau đó vuốt ở phía dưới để khởi động nó.

Bây giờ sử dụng lệnh này trên PC để cài đặt tệp zip TWRP.

adb sideload /path/to/twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.86_op6.zip

Tương tự như trước, thay thế /path/to/ bằng đường dẫn thực tế đến tệp twrp và sử dụng tên tệp chính xác.

Root OnePlus 6T với Magisk

Khi thiết bị của bạn trở lại phục hồi TWRP, hãy bắt đầu tải lại ADB như trước.

Bây giờ flash zip Magisk với lệnh tương tự như trước đây.

adb sideload /path/to/magisk.zip

Thay thế bằng tên đường dẫn và tên tập tin chính xác.

Khi Magisk được cài đặt, hãy khởi động lại thiết bị của bạn một cách bình thường và nó sẽ được root.

Bạn đã mở khóa thành công bộ tải khởi động, cài đặt phục hồi TWRP và root OnePlus 6T của bạn.

Some spoilery thoughts on Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Not comprehensive at all because there’s so much I could say about any TR game, but this is pretty lengthy.

I’m at 66% right now, and I’ve done a good bit of challenge tombs, side quests, and artifact hunting, but I think the bulk of the progress reflects the story, which I will delve into:

The Visuals In terms of graphics, especially the environments, the game is pure eye candy. I’m so glad I upgraded my GPU in time for this game, because playing it at the ultra settings is just a beautiful, immersive treat. The lighting, the richness of the vegetation, the colors--It’s so nice to see some saturation in a Tomb Raider game again.

The main characters look really good, too. Sometimes the animation for Lara’s worried/stern mouth movement looks a little weird to me, but overall, I think everyone looks solid. Good animations, good textures, long hair--even if it’s not as refined as Lara’s--has a lot of movement and fluidity to it, highly detailed clothing.  

My biggest gripe here is the fact that all the village NPCs have like the same 3 faces repeated over and over. Some variations to scarring, injuries, and hair diversify the population a bit, but it’s a pretty glaring visual deficiency compared to how lush and rich the rest of the world feels.

The Audio/Soundtrack I’m generally not much of an auditory person--I can absolutely appreciate a nice soundtrack and quality voice acting, but it’s usually the visual stuff in a game that really draws me in. But the sound effects and soundtrack really stand out to me here, especially in the areas where it’s just Lara. There’s so much rich ambient noise and the music does a lot to add to the atmosphere.

Having just replayed Rise last week and 2013 a few months ago, I don’t recall feeling that same audio engrossment that I have here.

The Gameplay Shadow offers different difficulty settings for its 3 pillars of gameplay: combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. I’ve kept combat and exploration at the default normal setting, but I bumped puzzle-solving up to hard because of my own personal play style quirk: I like using the survival instinct mode a lot to help me keep my bearings, but Lara’s advice on how to solve puzzles gets repetitive to the point of irritation.

I’ve been saving most of the challenge tombs for my stream tomorrow, so I probably have a comparatively low exposure to them versus everything else, but I have loved solving every single tomb/crypt puzzle I’ve come across. They’re hard enough that they make you think and you feel accomplished after solving them, but not so difficult you get frustrated and want to resort to a walkthrough. They definitely stand out as a vast improvement over the previous two games.

Exploration is very similar to Rise, but with some enhancements. I was a little wary of the wall run because it’s implementation in Anniversary was a glitchy mess that sucks the fun out of a lot of the later levels, but it’s very smooth in Shadow. I’ve had a few jump misses in general that were bullshit, and sometimes it’s unclear how the game wants you to respond to certain platforming areas, but overall, her movement through the world is engaging. Effortless or challenging as appropriate to the task at hand.

My favorite addition to the exploration is definitely the underwater areas. Lara swims a little bit in Rise, but it’s mostly through linear caverns and often just on the surface. We get full underwater areas to explore, complete with treasure hunting, resource gathering, and even piranhas. The controls here took some getting used to for me, but it’s smooth sailing now. Or swimming, as the case may be.

The combat really takes a backseat to the exploration this time around, and I am a big fan of this--I found the seemingly endless shootouts with bullet sponge enemies in TR ‘13 to be a little at odds with the proper exploration-puzzles-combat ratio for a TR game, and I think that was greatly improved in Rise, but the big story advancements were still heavily centered around big gun fights. These are still a part of Shadow, but now the story moves more through exploration and discovering secrets in crypts and tombs. And that is exactly how it should be.

Shadow puts more emphasis on stealth combat as well, which I’m mostly okay with. I typically did prefer going stealth, especially in Rise because it felt like another type of puzzle, but there are a few areas where the game doesn’t really give you a choice. Just on principle, I’m not super keen on that, but overall, I still think the combat here works well as a part of the gameplay. It’s there for some action, but it’s not stealing the show.

So far my least favorite part of the gameplay is all the goddamn villager fetch quests. The rewards for most of the ones I’ve done have been pretty good, and some have some mildly interesting stories, but on the whole, they feel empty and... Well, like fetch quests. I don’t mind back-tracking for things like artifacts or unlocking new secret areas and tombs, but I’m not playing Tomb Raider to interact with people and do their errands for them. I’m playing Tomb Raider to uncover secrets and explore ruins and be alone. (Mostly. I don’t mind another sidekick from time-to-time.)

I think sometimes the fast travel system and map interface made these even worse. If it was easier to get to the locations/people you need for the fetch quests, it might feel less tedious. But when you can only fast travel through camps, and you and your destination aren’t anywhere near one, it starts to feel like a chore running through a crowded town.

The Story Like I mentioned, I’m not done with it yet, but I’m definitely towards the final third or so of the main plot.

I’m... Not feeling quite as sold on this one as I did on the previous two games.

Let me start with the stuff I do really like:

I really like the relationship between Lara and Jonah; I think their conversations are some of my favorite parts of the game. I really like Dominguez as an antagonist. I find him very compelling. I love how the supernatural stuff has been infused into the world, especially with the creatures that were apparently protecting the silver box. I love Unuratu, up until she dies, which really sucked.

I like seeing Lara get unhinged; I really like the idea of a darker Lara, and I loved the scene when she thought Jonah was dead and just went full-fucking Rambo on Trinity. I generally like the way the story uses Maya, Inca, and Christian mythology/symbolism/riddles/etc. The setting alone is one of my absolute favorites, and I’ve been wanting to see Lara return to the region of the world since 2008.

I think ultimately it just doesn’t feel as tightly focused as 2013 and Rise. I’ve never really played Tomb Raider games for the story, so I tend to be pretty forgiving and just kind of roll with the punches, but this just feels like they’re trying to pull too much into one game. Although personality-wise I find Dominguez excellent, his strong ties to both Paititi and the Crofts just make him feel kind of spread thin for some reason. And I kind of had a hard time following the politics of Paititi and the rebels and the Cult of Kulkukan and how they’re related to Trinity and and Dominguez being Amaru and Unuratu being his sister-in-law and family legacies and sons to be kings and then the scary people living in the cenote and the oil company in that other city--It just was... A lot.

I do not dislike it, and I’m totally onboard to see where it goes, but again, having 2013 and Rise so fresh in my mind, something about Shadow has felt a little off comparatively in this respect. 

And just as a side note: the longer Jonah is at Lara’s side, the more I expect he’s not going to make it, and I’m not sure I can brace my enough if she does lose him.

Final Thoughts On the whole, I am loving this experience. Minus my grievances with the story and fetch quests, I am completely enthralled with this game. So much of the gameplay evokes the same response I had to Core’s early games--This really feels like what a modern Tomb Raider game should be. The puzzle-combat-exploration ratio is perfect, the environments are so lush and immersive, the tombs are challenging and atmospheric. I just want to explore every inch of this world.

Having played and finished all major TR titles (except AOD), Rise ended up bumping TR2 from my all-time favorite TR game. I was really hoping that Shadow would be able to de-throne Rise, and in some ways it does, but I don’t know that the overall package is better. I’m guessing I’ll probably know by tomorrow or Monday night, though.
