Hello! What top coat would you recommend for nails?

My current stuff is just not holding up to my day-day and chips so fast now since my usual top coat brand went out of business.

Do you have any suggestions? Just plain top coat would be preferred. Love a good holo, but I do nail stamps and don't want to lose some of the design.

JUMPS OVER A FENCE yes!! I actually do have a strong preference, my fav top coat is the ella+mila "in a rush" topcoat. Initially I just picked it up because it's one that's toluene free- but it performs really really well imo! I've tried a few of the other ones people are hype about, and I've tried both of the ones that Holo Taco has, too. (I think they're kinda ass) The ella+mila one is really good, holds up and dries quickly BUT!! It's my christian duty to tell you that the brush that comes with it is also ass. That's the only complaint I have with it tho!

#I actually just pour it into a different bottle but if you don't dislike round skinny brushes like I do #then you'll be foine! #I've also used gel top coat and genuinely... I still do prefer this one. #sergle answers #nailposting #I don't find that it bubbles or spiderwebs quickly but I also am in the habit of adding a couple drops of polish thinner #every few times I use it #just bc quick-dry top coat's whole job is to evaporate quickly. so ik they thicken faster than regular nail polish #anytime the bottle is open.

Peice of plastic left over from a press on nail set (pink thing beside it is also a peice of that for reference)

Clear gel nail polish

3 flecks of blue glitter

2 different metallic sharpies (silver and bronze)

Dry erase marker

Snippet of string from a clothing tag

#and also a fuckton of sanding with a nail file #shaping the half-dried gel polish with my finger and the pink plastic peice #having to very very carefully dab tiny beads of clear polish over the glitter bits to make them look like entire gems #<- i screwed up doing that several times btw and had to scrape it off with a peice of wire #a lot of coats of sharpie. then dry erase marker. then nail polish. then sharpie again. #very pain in the ass #also hand reveal i guess??? #patchy sculpts??? makes??? idk this isn't a drawing or a ramble so #miniature #patchy irl #<- i guess?

Same anon as before asking about base coats, do you also have any recommendations for fast drying top coats? I unfortunately have the attention span of a gnat and get easily distracted with other tasks while waiting for my nails to dry and almost always end up messing them up 😞

ah!! I haven't tried a HUGE number of topcoats and basecoats, only a Selection. but the favorites I use: For basecoat, I almost always use holo taco's long-lasting basecoat, or ORLY's Bonder if I'm out of the HT one. My favorite ridge filling / nail foundation basecoat is the Mooncat one, "Getting even" The only good top coat I've ever liked is the ella+mila "in a rush" quick dry top coat, though I wish they used a paddle brush! Even tho the ella+mila one IS very good, and does dry down quickly, there's still always the possibility of denting ur nails... it's not for everybody, but maybe if you're someone who gets restless waiting for your nails to harden / you multitask / you forget your polish is still soft, etc, maybe you'd like giving yourself gel manicures a little better? where when you're done painting your nails, you're actually Done Painting Your Nails. It could be worth a try!

#I wouldn't recommend putting a gel top coat over regular polish though. I mean doing a full gel manicure #putting a polish that dries by UV over a polish that needs to dry by air is actually going to keep the underpolish from drying fully. #sergle answers #nailposting #maybe i should put my topcoat and basecoat favorites in my faq...
