re: Giles and Anya, amusingly in the Boom comics they really pushed that pairing, and iirc heavily implied they had history together? (It has been a bit since my last read of those comics so I could be remembering wrong) In The Universe Without Shrimp (aka the 2019 Boom! comicsverse) Anya had a past stint as a Watcher so Giles was constantly coming to her for advice etc, and he was her main connection to the Scoobies (well that and Anyanka was determined to destroy the council in revenge for all the girls they hurt - especially her own slayer who the council killed centuries ago for being "too old" when she was 22)
Wow. It's like Boom comics are slowly making their way to my low-key ships. First Buffy/Cordy and now Giles/Anya???
The biggest question now is... Buffy/Faith gonna happen? I'll be on the look out for that!

Back when It was 2016, i was still a student at uni. I just started coding and i had to create a GitHub account. I was pretty bad at usernames and so i made up a word called "yankeepeeves" and used it. I forgot about that GitHub account though, i haven't used it very much and it was forgotten
I wanted to try Tumblr for a longer time. I was on Pinterest and most of the pins are screenshots of Tumblr posts. I reasoned that pinterest is doing the heavy lifting and only the good ones come there. But it was still annoying that i didn't get most of the posts as they are mostly from superwholock. I was only caught up on lock at that point so it's still annoying.
I did the best thing i could do. I finished supernatural. It wasn't enough so i watched doctor who too. I thought it would improve my Pinterest experience since I could get it all. It just became boring.
I joined Tumblr. As for the username, i don't know why I remembered that name from that old unused account, but i was still proud of that made-up name. But It's kinda wierd. I found out superwholock died like six years ago. It was sad. I mourned for it and then continued on Tumblr. The more time I spent on Tumblr, the more i realised, nothing ever dies on Tumblr. It's basically Isla de Muerta. "Marked on no map, this island can't be found, except for those who knew where it was"
I enjoyed the Tumblr. But alas. Change is inevitable. It's time to bid goodbye to yankeepeeves. I will miss it. But then, nothing ever dies in Tumblr. This one stays as a reminder of what it used to be. I don't how i will regenerate, but i am sure it's going to be fantastic.

misty ramblings
THIS WILL HAVE YELLOWJACKETS SPOILERS, SCROLL ON BY TO AVOID THEM
i was dragged to yellowjackets by @glompcat
well, no, that's inaccurate, because glomp would never be that crass. but they *did* do that thing where they told me about the thing they're interested in, & i ended up trying it & fell in love (of course i did), & it's like
fuck me sidways, but i loved shauna & jackie's fucked up codependency & van & tai's romance that's going to get Weird i can just tell (i can't wait omfg), but it was *misty* who got me. we see her answer her phone in her empty room, & i just... that was it. i was gone
(do kids still do that kind of bullshit these days? not that any kids would be reading this, but it's also hitting me how *different* the world i grew up in is from the one's that kids are these days, & i'm too all over the place right now to even try to tackle that one)
misty wants you to love her. misty thinks if she works hard enough & is Good enough people will love her, & why won't they just hold up to their end of the bargain, with all the hard work she puts in?! but that's okay, because she'll just keep at it, we'll get with the program eventually
(there but for the grace of who knows what go i, although i learned how to have boundaries in my twenties, thank fuck)
she also has this way of like... i don't know how to put it other than "weaponizing patheticness," only it ISN'T pathetic, not exactly? like, maybe it started out that way, but it almost feels like misty uses the... expectation that people will find her pathetic like a club
we never see her actually *ashamed* for any of the shit she pulls, even the mushrooms, & i'm sure we remembered that big grin in the opening scene... although some of that might be me reading stuff wrong, i'll admit to that
i also watched this while high as hell, so i may be misinterpreting stuff, freely acknowledge that!
& like, i do think she genuinely cares about people? it's just that like... she doesn't entirely get HOW to care about people in the way that isn't... That
the best description of creepiness i ever heard was "trying to skip friendship steps," becuase there are *totally* friendship steps, & romance steps, &... well, all those things. the wanting to be at "we're besties" when you're still just acquaintainces (hoo boy have i been there), and misty gives off that vibe so strongly. she just wants to be LOVED!
i just. i love her so much. i want to follow behind her & eat popcorn & cheer her on while she does whatever batshit horrible thing she'll do next. wave little pompoms. "you go girl, you're gonna meet a bad end, you're doing great baby, love you!"

rules: tag 9 people you want to get to know better.
tagged by: @elliesgaymachete - thanks for tagging me 😊
favorite time of year: Autumn. Heat and snow make me miserable and autumn doesn't have either one. Also it's spooky season.
comfort food: Oh man. All of it? All of the food is comfort food.
do you collect something: I have a sizeable Funko pop collection but that's about it.
favorite drink: Coffee. Also water, Gatorade and tea. I really don't drink anything but those 4 things.
favorite song: Trying to think of my favorite song of all time is giving me anxiety. Do people really have just 1? I could never. But let's be real, it probably be something by Fleetwood Mac.
current favorite song: This also gave me anxiety but it was an easier decision to make. "Supernova (tigers blud)" by Kat Cunning. It's been my most played song for like a year.
favorite fic: That depends on the ship. For Thasmin it's "To the Ends of the Earth (would you follow me?) by freefallvertigo. For Swan Queen it's "A Fine Line" by hunnyfresh. And we're going way, WAY back here when I say for Faberry (and Brittana), published way back in 2011, it's "A Million Miles of Fun" by Jade8devlin.

glompcat replied to your post “y’all out here writing the doctor having all kinds of kinky sex when...”
I wouldn't be suprised if they considered holding hands to be super racy on Gallifrey, so from a certain point of view the Doctor would be quite the kinkster. I they even HUG people! That's some super scandalous Renegade behavior right there!
this would make everything so much funnier and more interesting lmaoo. i’m just imagining all those times ten got kissed and him doing a smug victory wave to all his previous faces as they pat him on the back like yes live up to your renegade status, matchstick man! this is what we left gallifrey for (basic intimacy)! or eleven when river kisses him at stormcage being so caught off guard and overstimulated like yes this is what i signed up for but at what cost. i mean really any time eleven has a vaguely intimate moment with river it’s like get this man some aftercare

( @glompcat bc idk if tagging someone even works lmao tumblr. had to turn off the beta just to get the screencaps to upload bc it kept asking me to ‘tap to retry’ on desktop. a website! )
fair point? but my main take is still that the logo is shown too prominently and too often for any of the narrative to be damning. and, frankly, the implication that Amazon is bad because it doesn’t provide a company town is deeply unsettling considering how invested they are in creating self-sufficient satellite headquarters and the whole Swag Bucks thing. the way Nomadland interacted with Empire as a place and concept, that like Pompeii hush in the final scene...idk maybe the soundtrack had finally gotten too much to me lol but it made me roll my eyes.
like...not engaging with whether subscribing to a service or paying for a one-time ticket is a more ethical form of consumption, but i do feel like a lot of what let Minari get away with being a little rougher around the edges, given the similar level of cushioning sentimentality as Nomadland, is that it’s a period piece. creators do what they have to in order to secure funding and distrobution and Zhao does a lot more than most, it just lands in an imo uneasy Easy Rider sort of space, where it wants to be about America Land Of The Free, Home Of The Weirdo Loner more than it wants to pass judgment. which is fine! except it tries to like half-ass it and that’s where i’m *sad trombone noise*

@glompcat replied to your post “just remembered that banter in trespasser if the inquisitor married sera”
Very very glad I did not already know this, mainly because in my worldstate Leliana is Devine and she explicitly changed every single rule just so she could marry f!Warden. The things I was protected from.
yeah it really sucks :( this is the banter in question if you really want to know. i was looking at people’s opinions on it and i saw some people thinking it was maybe a class thing but i can’t see any other interpretation, especially since she only says it if she’s in charge of the chantry. dragon age is kinda all over the place with whether gay relationships are accepted, but thankfully never really had religiously motivated homophobia that’s so prevalent in the real world. so it sucks to see something imply otherwise. especially since divine justinia was heavily implied to be gay or bi in leliana’s song long before leliana herself was getting gay married as the pope LOL
and it’s weird coming from vivienne too! yeah, she can sometimes be overly mean and doesn’t like sera much, but she’s also vocally supportive of dorian’s relationship with the inquisitor despite their substantial personal differences. so why? what’s the point?? of all the jabs she could direct at sera why that?

Good news! In the boom comics Robin is Buffy's High School boyfriend and a huge part of the Scoobies (esp after Xander dies. Gosh the boom comics had so much going for them. Living Kendra, lots of Robin, Kendra is dating a girl, Xander is dead…)
AMAZING. Boom comics really are giving me my low key ships! And all the development and Kendra dating a girl!!!
NOW GIVE ME BUFFY/FAITH BOOM COMICS.

@glompcat replied to your post “@yiliy replied to your post “I think people often misunderstand the...”
Snap Wexley was a sixteen year old who through the kinds of wacky happenstances that happen when you are a protagonist in a Star Wars book wound up piloting a X-Wing during the battle of Jakku, and technically he was part of a group officially employed by the New Republic to carry out missions (his mom was the leader of the group and was basically that trilogy's main character). In that series there was also a group made up of the children of Coruscant who took to the streets and assisted the New Republic when liberating the planet. They were known as the The Anklebiter Brigade. It was very much a ‘war has come to people’s homes and they are taking to the streets and making a stand’ type thing, but I suppose people can argue that those children were treated as combatants during that phase of the Galactic Civil War?                            Oh gosh and I almost forgot, Ezra Bridger was fourteen and Sabine Wren was sixteen when Rebels began and Leia was sixteen when she joined the Rebellion and Amilyn was at most a year younger than Leia at the time and they basically joined it together. Those are really the youngest examples that come to mind for me? Of course I am not fully up to date on the canon eu so I may be missing more examples of children joining the Rebel Alliance to Restore the Republic
Is 16 even considered a child within the Star Wars universe?
And Ezra’s definitely another case of “let’s give kids someone to follow along on the adventure with”, just as Ahsoka was. Which is not a bad thing! There’s a reason this concept is so prevalent, it’s good that kids have someone to connect to the story through.
I could see that Anklebiter thing maybe being what anon was referring to, though from the sounds of it they couldn’t really be called soldiers.

11 and 12
Thank you for the asks!! Sorry it took me like 5 hours to respond lol. Gonna answer about Clone Wars
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
Sy Snootles is a femme fatale queen and I love her. Qi'ra wants what Sy Snootles has - and tbh I can’t blame her bc I also would like to be a superstar singer, master spy, and just constantly rocking a tits out look.
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why
The fandom doesn’t like the The Battle of Mon Calamari arc because the fandom hates fun, apparently. I love Kit Fisto and also I will never forget the first time I saw the Karkarodon. The idea of a bunch of buff dudes who wage war not with weapons, but by biting people to death is so wild to me.

I mean, yeah, I’m aware of that. if it were 100% a documentary I’d have the same feeling. they’re real people with their own lives and opinions, but the focus and narrative is still a construct. there’s no such thing as a neutral observer.
Tumblr media
Amazon was given the same treatment as the podunk rock sale and the folksy diner and the potatoes - the spectacle of capitalism is bad because there’s just so much! and it makes you stay in one place! if the only thing you can critique about seasonal work is that it’s seasonal...i mean, that’s just my onion. imo it’d work better if it didn’t attempt to editorialize at all. like, i do think it’s a very good movie, the performances/non performances are woven together well, but its reluctance to actually indicate that the recession wasn’t just, like, something that happened, but something that was done to us, keeps it from fully working for me. ymmv.
