can I have a hot take sunday moment for a second (I’ve just invented hot take sunday because I have a grievance it’s not a real thing haha) but I truly believe that people who make a good portion of their personality about hating things (that are completely harmless) or post all the time about how they love hating stuff are truly so miserable and they are posting through their pain to bing others down to their level of self hate. Like I am no saint I enjoy hating things too but I keep that hate contained to my friends and like group chats but the second you start putting the hate out to the groups that enjoy the thing just to be a jerk it’s not cool and depending on how often you do it it really makes you a form of a bully. Idk I just saw a whole thread of people mocking a man who got emotional meeting megan traninor and it was just mean for no reason but I also saw people mocking the concept of people in their 30s buying tickets to taylor swift for like 700 dollars or for being upset with the ticket selling debacle and laughing about how they love being a hater and it’s just? why. I also feel there could be larger conversations around both wanting men to be better about expressing healthy good emotions and mocking them when they do and the weird way we demand that as people age (especially woman over 30) they stop having passions and hobbies and expressing their emotions as well. Like why is it embarrassing for a woman in her 30s wanting to buy tickets for an artist they like and why are they not allowed to express frustration for the clusterfuck that trying to get tickets was? anyway sorry that was a long hot take it’s just been weighing on me lol

Like, it’s perfectly normal to not like something, it’s even normal to hate-watch something, but you’re right, hating on someone simply for enjoying something they like is weird behavior and gives miserable person vibes.

And I saw the thing about the guy with Megan Trainor and felt bad he was getting hate for that. I wonder if the reaction would’ve been different if that guy was getting emotional over meeting Tom Brady or something because god forbid anyone publicly express admiration of a woman 🙄
