so @lilyblackdrawside and i were discussing how the heck manticore sleeps with that massive scorpion tail... sleeping on her stomach feels like it'd be uncomfortable, and it'd just leave her tail to drape off the bed. i didn't think a standard mattress could be modified to accommodate her comfortably (boring a hole in the damn thing ain't exactly feasible, yk?) so lily suggests that, rather than a traditional bed, she'd have a heated sandpit. IMAGINE IT lightly knocking on her dorm door with "hey manti, you awake?", u poke your head in and take a look... the sandpit in the corner appears to be empty. but suddenly the sand begins to stir and shift, and the two little headwings and tip of tail poking out fizzle into view...

no but seriously Zwillingstürme was so good. Big spoilers but I remember reading the segment with Arturia and Herkunftshorn and the whole time I was thinking how in a different kind of story this would've been the typical scene of the crazy villain who brought a far worse villain back to life and the guy kills her or something because what the hell were you expecting after summoning an ancient evil? But since this is Arknights, the game of the endless monologues everyone loves or hates it for, they actually have a sincere and interesting argument about Arturia's ideals. Like the goddamn Witch King himself takes some time from his last day to have a philosophical discussion with her?? and then she just. goes away once the discussion is over??? She didn't even try to meet him because of some evil plot or to gain power or anything she literally just wanted to have that chat.

I don't think I can properly describe this one except to tell you to watch the first episode knowing nothing about what to expect.

Overtake

Good season for adult workplace drama between this and Daigo. More of an inspirational sports story for F4 racing, but done really well so far.

Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions

Honestly the detective side of this one is kinda weak so far. Thank god the characters are so entertaining and the production is so wonderfully energetic so you barely mind.

Shy

I was initially gonna recommend just reading the manga on this one, but then the second episode turned out lightyears better than the first, so hey. If you're looking for a superhero show to tide you over until MHA's next season, put this on your list.

Now this is a much better use of Fire Force's director than Fire Force was. Also, I have it on good authority that the gross groping gags vanish pretty quickly into the manga, so breathe easy on that front.

I remember bouncing off the manga for this one, and the adaptation isn't exactly a stunner. But it's breezing through the most annoying parts of the opening chapters at a strong clip, so here's hoping it gets to the good stuff soon!

Look, the main character's voice being really squeaky and annoying is usually a dealbreaker for me, but this has enough charm for me to stomach it for now. Love seeing CGDCT shows with this much energy in the production.

It just doesn't exist. I think they'd have a fantastic dynamic, though. The foundation is strong; Qanipalaat's motive to join Rhodes Island is the pursuit of better medical care to send to his homeland for the community and his sickly mom, and Aak is like, **THE** genius medical prodigy boy who makes it look easy by how laid-back he acts.

It stands to reason Qanipalaat would get word of Aak's prowess and pay his office in the base a visit; thing's'd kick off from there. This is a good setup.

Yet everybody overlooks Qanipalaat so goddamn hard. He's never discussed. Ever. So this ship, to my knowledge, doesn't EXIST.

Love both these boys sm that they were the first two that I got to Elite 2.

I finally caved to the cute anime women and downloaded arknights lmfao. Gacha and tower defense normally aren't my thing, but the characters are so goddamn cool that I wanted to see them in context. The tower defense thing is pretty new to me, but it's been fun learning it! Historically I've been pretty bad with strategy type games, but idk man anime women inspire me to push beyond my boundaries or smth so praise the power of Gay I had a lot of trouble trying to decide who to choose as my free 5*, and talked a lot with some experienced ak friends to try and determine who might be most strategically beneficial. But in the end, I went with my heart...

God I love Manticore. like. sm. u have no idea. I'm already a sucker for arthropod girls, but look at her. Apprehensive killing machine that frequently turns invisible, has zero clue how to social, resultingly has no friends, and-- not knowing how else to-- communicates primarily in sticky notes she silently leaves behind. Poor girl deserves a goddamned hug. LOOK HOW CUTE SHE IS

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH lots of operators i can see being yans in arknights (in fact each of them actually has the potential with how fucked up Terra is LMAO) but the ones that come at the top of my head are: Tequila, Enforcer, Executor, literally any Sankta character (HEAR ME OUT THE SANKTA CHARACTERS HAVE SO MUCH YAN POTENTIAL ESP CAUSE OF THEIR WEIRD MINDHIVE THING) Also see: Any Sarkaz character, etc.

honestly, you are SO right. given just how utterly fucked up terra is and how far some individuals are willing to go in this godforsaken planet, it wouldn't be surprising to see one of the characters just snap and latch onto someone who can give them mental stability. and if that someone was the doctor.

tequila has been living with festering hatred and pent-up emotions for god knows how long, and he sure as hell isn't gonna be dealing with them in a healthy way any goddamn time soon. he isn't afraid to stain his blade red if it means keeping you by his side, though a simple glare will often get the job done nicely. tequila presents himself as the ultimate boyfriend material to you; funny, charismatic, easy-going, anything that blindsides you to his true demeanor. he ups the charm, doing anything to woo you and earn your affections with a sweet smile. and of course, even more boiling jealousy is added to that rotting pile of emotions he buries, as the thought of anyone else touching you that isn't him has tequila feel worse than any hangover in dossoles could ever possibly make him feel.

enforcer seems like a curious pick, since he's pretty chill and wholesome for the most part and is shown to have a cozy relationship with the doctor. but then again, he does give the doctor a nice warm cup of bitter coffee when he's aiding with the large stacks of paperwork. so who could say that the unusual bitterness was simply enforcer spiking the drink; he could just say that he remembers how bitter you liked your coffee last time, so he went out and bought new coffee beans, just for you. enforcer likes it when you've passed out after chugging the hot beverage down, expression soft and peaceful even when he's gently touching and tracing your skin. he muses that you are far too trusting.

ngl, executor would make for a very interesting yandere, especially bc he does not seem to understand love or emotions, but we do see that his alter actually has him growing and understanding people's emotions. but he's fucking terrifying when you think about it, like he has no qualms in killing someone just to accomplish his mission and is horrifyingly determined to do what he needs to do, even if he could possibly die. executor could kill someone he deems to be a rival, and while he would acknowledge that their death will indeed wear you down, he's still apathetic enough to just brush it off. he doesn't care about them, nor anyone else. executor only cares about the way you make his chest feel strange, and why it makes him feel so good.

and honestly yeah, any of the sarkaz fit the bill, since they're heavily discriminated against in terra and treated worse if they're infected. flamebringer is a nice and obvious pick bc of how complicated his relationship with the doctor is. he lives for bloodshed and battles, so what's really stopping him from getting rid of anyone he deems to be in the way?

Mansfield Break was also my first full event, and I love heists (including reverse heists...like a jailbreak!). And I LOVE characters who can hurt so easily, but hold onto their kindness and humanity despite it all. There's so much to him, he's so complex, his interactions with Robin especially is permanently imprinted on my heart...
