Me: did you know that there has only been one study attesting to self awareness in magpies and its results have never been replicated in over ten years? This isn't to say that corvids aren't some of the most intelligent birds but they might not be intelligent in the same way that popular culture would have you believe, as the most well-known and widely-cited evidence for their self-recognition in mirrors is inherently flawed. The famous 2008 study only had five magpies as subjects, all of which were hand-raised and had been used in previous studies of object permanence, which already establishes their results as ecologically invalid. Plus, only two of the subjects (Goldie and Gerti) showed significant self-directed behavior in response to the mark in the mirror, but these two birds showed the most self-directed behavior in general, not to mention that in one of her experimental trials, Goldie didn't show any self-directed behavior at all. And both birds' results were only significant when both of their experimental trials were added up, but none of the individual trials had significantly more mark-directed behavior compared to the rest of their body. The thing is, even if the evidence for these two specific birds being self-aware was stronger, the abilities of two individuals isn't necessarily representative of an entire species. In my opinion, though, it's not just this study specifically that's a flawed measure of avian intelligence, but the mark test as a whole. Do you know what a mark test is? actually just more abt charlie n the girls crews in general! love them both so much

so the girl’s crew is really just her and golden hour, but they have some friends, mostly sandpups that the girl has been friends with since she was a kid, that come around and sometimes run with the two of them and the girl’s cat! the girl and goldie didn’t actually meet until after the city had already fallen — so after the girl detonated. they were about 21 and met at tommy’s, and for the girl at least it was love at first sight, though they didn’t start dating for another four years. goldie is a cityborn who actually only got to the zones about 2 years before the detonation, and grew up in a high rise in the heart of batt city where she could see a pretty-much wrap-around view of the regulated atmospheric module and not much else. she has a beat-up dark green pickup truck that runs like a tank that they live out of while they’re traveling around, and the girl has her own motorcycle — not a racing one, but a heavy, low-slung roadtripper — that’s purple! so most of the time they swing the cycle in the bed of the truck and ride together in the cab, or else the girl rides alongside. she uses said cycle to go back on her own to visit her family in the diner when goldie doesn’t come! much later on, they end up renovating an abandoned firehouse into a more permanent base/home, but that isn’t for a long while.

charlie’s crew is made up of her, last word (xe/them)(her partner), flashdance (they/she/he), red thorn (he/him), cardiac fluoresced (it/its), mad dog (she/they), and their powder blue RV, the Captain, an honorary seventh member. they meet at the zone 5 fun fair as kids, since 2/3 of them are from gravel gertie’s and the other two are desertborns. this is in the wake of the girl bringing down BLI, so when they agree they want to form a crew together when they’re older, they’re thinking in terms of what they grew up with — as a found family. poison called them “a hope for the future” one time when their little group was gathered around the diner floor for a playdate. flashdance latched on to that, with their love of pre-war movies her parents had stored up on vhs, and so he calls them “back to the future” even though no one else in the crew thinks they need a name nor that that is a good one if they did. charlie and lass both play classical instruments, which in and of itself is rare in the desert due to the maintenance that they need with all the sand, sun, and aridity, much less in the same crew — it’s something they bonded over, and it was during a late night during their teen years when they were cleaning their instruments together that lass asked charlie out :} anyways their crew travels around a lot, especially so since this is post-fall of batt city, and they’ve traveled further outside the zones than most people have in literal decades — in fact, that’s most of what they do! they’re on a sort of mission to explore the areas outside of the zones since that was one of the first pieces of information BLI restricted public access to when they took over :D

Oh man... Ok.

My first one here was Alexielle. She was a belf warlock married to a human rogue. She was so troubled, hearing voices feom the void before it became a thing. Currently, she’s shelved (I really wish I could play her again). She’s a rendorei and leaves with her little family in Elwynn. Along with Alexielle came her sister Naminae. She is a death knight who died to save her sister. She struggles with living and the urge to kill. Another character who came out of this storyline is Daidh. He was a belf warlock who once worked for the Legion when Kael’Thas went out to Outlands. When he returned, he hid from the legion until they made their return again. This time, we went out to confront his fate and instead he found the demon hunters. They helped him and he in turn, because a demon hunter. He is another character I want to continue playing. Count: 3

Next storyline is Captain Seawolf. He is a quel’dorei pirate with red hair. His first mate is Ziggly, the cook is Gerty, his wife is Alaia ( @piratemage ) and he has 3-4 kids. He works solely for himself. He has the beginnings of an alpaca farm in Pandaria. He’ll be showing up a lot more soon in Ratty’s story. From this we get Tia’Zula, a troll with bad voodoo. She is a voodoo witch who looks younger than she really is. Again, another character who is going to appear in Ratty’s story. Count= 2 and then some

Next is the Rat King and the Kingdom. He was supposed to be a pirate in Seawolf’s storyline but he broke off and became his own guy. The Captain and Ratty know each other. In the Kingdom, you have Sarinna, a night elf who is the King’s Right Hand. Then there’s Teriaan, a belf warrior and the King’s Champion. There’s the Flea, a suave undead who serves as the King’s mage. There’s Goldie, the belf who runs the bordello. Rabbit is a Tauren sold into slavery to the Kingdom and he’s the cook. He makes stew out of left over body parts. Some of the best stew in Alterac. There are minor toons I use here and there. Count = 9

Finally, Alessandro Mares, a human paladin. He is the complete opposite of the Rat King. He is kind and humble. He tries to help others before himself. He is one of the hardest characters I have written for because he is just so good. He does suffer of ptsd and depression now. I really want to write for him again. He has a sister and a cousin. His cousin is Francesc Luna, a half-elf Hunter. I love this character. Unfortunately, tumblr has my page blocked and I need to revamp it, so I will. Antoinette is a gnome hunter who is a good friend. Gabrielli Carlo is Alessandro’s best friend. Vincenzo Altamirano, Mikael Liberato, and Cinnarose Wilde are also part of the mage group that Alessandronis familiar with. Count = 8 + 4 for his family

Marigold Update:

Goldie and Gertie (named after two great aunts) are doing okay. Goldie is very weedy and long stemmed, but has taken to her move beautifully. Gertie has a tiny bit of transplant shock, but her leaves have perked up since yesterday, which makes me hopeful.
