From my WIP
You know, the wild part is what kept me grounded enough to not check myself in.
I took a little solace during that time, knowing the world was grieving with me. The world didn’t lose their twin brother like I had, but they were still sad, even if only a fraction.

I’m going to finish writing this book if it kills me 😂 closer to the finish line than I am the starting line. Not as far along as I planned at this point, but when does life go as planned? To me, my recent work is noticibly better than work from a year or two ago from a lot of different stand points. I just have to keep grinding, I’m not going to fizzle out this time, slow and steady , I’ll get there.

Progress on my book might be slow but the finish line is closer than the starting line and I’m stoked on that.

Do random recent moments from real life creep into the current scenes your writing like they do mine?

I'm reshaping my current WIP, and with that comes a lot of rewrites. As well as cutting chapters and material I spent a lot of time on. Because a lot of these chapters taught me about the story I truly want to tell, but they aren't part of the main book I want to write, and when I read back those chapters, I know it to be true. So I press delete. That can be hard, because time feels wasted when you either delete or move thousands of words into a separate file thats not the main story, but its not wasted time, cant be. I mean, sure, maybe some of these realizations of story telling could have come earlier on for some writers, but since I found the current path of my story, it's gotten a lot better, and a certain flow is there with these new chapters that wasn't there before, so whatever. I may have planned things differently, but when has life ever gone as planned? I can only control the things I can control, and right now I'm just thankful that I'm still invested in this story I've been writing for over a year now. I know I'm doing good work, I just need to keep going. #mytwinsshadow

Ideas change, flow, redirect… in a way the story changes with your life story, a reflection of the pace and timing of everything.

Be mean to your characters.
What do they take for granted? Take it away from them.
The one thing they know for certain? Make them doubt it.
Their worst fear? Throw it at their faces.
Make their plans fail. Make them cry. Make them question things and then learn about them and the way they react in the process.
Be mean to your character. Then be kind to them for a while, because after all that they may deserve it.

I’ve been working on a nonfiction book about the last 25 years of cinema for about four years now. I haven’t said much to anyone about it, but I’ve recently made some progress on that, and in reality, it might end up being the first book I publish. Yes, the plan right now is to go indie. The book weaves in interesting facts about the biggest movies of each year and my personal experience with them.

🙌🙌
I feel silly that I get nervous before starting on big chapters, ones that are a little more important than the rest. That can be a gateway for procrastination and writers block, fighting the resistance can be hard, but that’s what it takes I think.
It’s easier for some writers

Dialogue Responses
"I thought you were dead!"
"Didn't stick."
"I kind of was..."
"Just wishful thinking."
"That was just a phase."
"Didn't work out for me."
"Wow, the miracle of life!"
"I thought the same thing."
"I did, but now I'm here again."
"You were supposed to think that."
"I'm so sorry! I'll explain everything to you."

I’m closer to being done than I am to starting.
That comes with some pressure.
Look at it as good pressure.
It’s only wasted time If you don’t finish, right ?

"Who let you have kids?!"
"No one? I found them in the woods. They're mine now."
