“Miss did you hear me?” The officer in front of me grunts.
“I’m sorry could you repeat the question for me?” I ask shyly focusing on him and not Kevin shouting and thrashing as the other cops are shoving him into the police car.
“I asked you if you could give me your recount of the events that took place tonight.”
“Oh right. Well…”
The flames are starting the consume the curtains and spread across the carpet as Tommy and I round the corner from my bedroom. I make a beeline for the kitchen to grab the extinguisher I had luckily purchased when Nikki started lighting himself on fire in their apartment. I toss it to Tommy and he gets everything currently on fire doused with the foamy liquid.
“What the fuck?” He wonders aloud as he reaches down picking up a broken bottle out of the mess. “River who the fuck would throw a moltov cocktail in your apartment?”
It’s like Loki the God of chaos himself is answering him when my door is kicked in and Kevin sways in full of intoxicated rage. He spots me frozen with fear against the fridge and begins to stomp towards me.
“You fucking good for nothing cunt I should’ve killed you when I had the chance” He screams and lunges towards me but is knocked to the ground by Tommy tackling him.
Tommy’s fist is covered in blood by the time I can get him pulled off Kevin and he spits on him as I get him pulled out of there just in time for the police and fire department to be pulling into the parking lot.
“We’ll be in touch.” The man hands me his card with his info on it before getting in his car and leaving.
Tommy is silent as we walk back to my apartment for me to inspect the damage done. My plants near my window scorched and my carpet destroyed is enough to send me over the edge. I collapse in the fetal position and let myself break down for the first time since the chaos began. I feel Tommy lay on the ground next to me and wrap his arms around me letting me have my moment.
“Thank you.” I hoarsely let out.
“I told you that you were stuck with us guys for the rest of your life especially me.” He pressed a small kiss to my shoulder and butterflies filled my stomach.
“Let's get off the ground.” I sniffle the both of us sitting back up slowly and eventually clambering back into my bed.
He pulls me against his body and rests his chin on the top of my head, the soft movement of him breathing lulling me to sleep.
“It’s the goddamn principal of the matter.” Nikki ranted as he paced through my living room while I tried to enjoy my morning coffee.
“So tell Vince you’re pissed.”
“No I can’t let him think he won. He needs to think I never wanted Beth in the first place.” He scoffed.
“Did you want Beth?”
“She gives great blowjobs. That’s why I suggested a threesome in the first place.” He plops into one of my chairs looking up at the ceiling.
“Listen Nikki I’m gonna be brutally honest since we’re friends and you would be with me, this is your fault for opening up your girlfriend to Vince Neil.”
“I hate it when you’re right you know that?”
“You’ll find a new groupie to fuck Nikki you’ll be fine. Now we gotta get to the studio you boys have photos for the album we need to take today.”
The boys had finished recording their first album by the grace of God himself. They spent the entire few days in the studio drunk and pissing off their sketchball manager, but by the end of it they had a full blown album that didn’t take much money to produce. They even got to save money on photos for the album since I was their personal photographer, which aforementioned sketchball was thrilled about. His name was Alan, but I didn’t have a good feeling about him so I rarely referred to him by his name, not to his face.
“My hair isn’t going to show!” Vince pouted in front of the (awful) white background Alan had thrown together for their album pictures.
“It’ll be fine Vinnie we’re gonna get them edited by a professional.” He quipped from beside me.
“Excuse me?” I ask unaware he was having somebody else  edit my photos.
“Well yeah sweetheart you expect me to trust the work of an amature to look good enough without editing? You’re out of your mind.”
“Listen here you sweaty ass-” I’m cut off by Tommy’s hand covering my mouth blocking the next slew of insults I had prepared.
“Let's take 5 for a cigarette break” He says cheerfully and leads me away still covering my mouth.
“You can stop licking my hand thinking that is gonna make me move it from your mouth you know.” Tommy says after dragging me outside the building we were shooting in. I pull away from him and fix him with a death glare that he just chuckles at lighting up a cigarette.
“I don’t want someone else to fuck with my photos Tommy. They’ll ruin it, I just know it.”
“It’ll be fine Riv. Besides if it’s fucked up then next time Alan can pay you more to do the photos and the editing.”
“Yeah that cheap bastard isn’t about to pay me more for jack shit Tommy.” I roll my eyes and pace back and forth in front of him. “Are you guys sure you want him as your manager? He gives me a weird feeling.”
“I think you’re paranoid babe” Tommy pulled me close and placed a kiss on my forehead. “Now lets get through this photoshoot so we can party it up later alright?”
“As much as I hate The Troubadour sometimes, yes I’m willing to get through the rest of the photoshoot so that we can go ‘party it up’ with the boys there” I tease and lean in close to him.
Tommy’s intoxicating scent of leather, cigarettes, and the men’s body wash I’ve been getting him to use pulls me in and I tuck my face into his neck and place a soft kiss there. He hums as his hand plays softly in my hair and he pulls slightly to tilt my head up. Our lips connect in a soft peck and he pulls away to stroke my cheek with his thumb.
When I walk back in Alan was nowhere to be found, which was perfect for me so that I could get my work done faster. Vince it seems has also finished his little temper tantrum as well. The rest of the shoot goes by without a hitch and we get our final shot for the cover of the album, which was just a close up shot of Vince’s crotch. By the time we get done and piled into my car it’s about time to get ready for the party the boys were throwing for completing the album and releasing it themselves on their own record label.
“Are you Nikki Sixx?” A voice off to the side of Nikki calls and he turns from our conversation with a shit eating grin giving her a single “no”  in response.
“Oh well that’s a shame cause I was going to split this quaalude with him.” She shrugs and goes to move on, but Nikki quickly stops her and confirms he in fact is Nikki Sixx and he was just fucking with her.
I watch her smile and bite her drug in half placing the other half onto Nikki’s tongue and he looks like he just might be falling in love for the first time. I look around and see Vince and Beth wrapped up together and Mick nursing his bottle of vodka, but I can’t find Tommy. I make my way through the crowd up to the bar and I don’t spot the tall brunette anywhere. He could just be outside smoking a cigarette, I tell myself feeling the bits of insecurity start to blossom in my head.
“Two Jack and Cokes please” I say to the bartender when I finally get his attention. I figure if I go to find Tommy with a drink in hand it makes me look less like a crazy person.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing ordering your own drinks?” The man to my left says and I have to put effort into not rolling my eyes.
“Well nothing on me is broken so I’m more than capable of getting my own drinks” I shoot back trying to walk away, but his hand comes up to block me from going forward.
“I’m just saying if you got a man he should be catering to you. What’s your name goddess?” His sickening grin shows teeth all too white against far too tan of skin.
“Her name is none of your business.” A deep huff comes from behind me and I turn to see Mick casually leaning against the bar.
“What are you her fucking dad?” The overly bronze man snaps.
“I’m trying to help you, but if you don’t want to keep all your fucking teeth that’s your dumbass decision.” Mick chuckles and tips his head to Tommy making his way towards us already sending hate eyes to the man next to me.
“You should listen to the man.” I shrug. “He fights.” I nod toward Tommy for emphasis.
The man looks like he’s about to argue when I feel Tommy slide his arm across my shoulders.
“This guy bothering you babe?” He asks sipping the drink in my hand never breaking eye contact with the strange guy with a look that said ‘one wrong move and I’ll kill you.
I smile like a cat that just caught a mouse and sip my drink as well.
My back hits the back wall of the closet as Tommy tries to find a secure place to hold my body so he can kiss me and grind into me at the same time.
“Fuck can I get this kind of reaction everytime I stick up for you.” Tommy pants breaking away from our kissing to catch his breath.
He hisses as I grind against him while pulling his hair back to expose his neck to me. I take the opportunity to nip at the skin there and feel the rumbling of another groan pass through him. Tommy begins to unlace his pants and suddenly the realization of how public we are hits me. Right as a worker opens the closet door to be exact.
“Ah I’m so sorry!” I yelp climbing off Tommy and rushing out of the closet and out the back door. Tommy is hot on my tail quickly catching up with the help of his long ass legs.
“Come on.” Tommy begins leading me to my car. “We’re going to your apartment to finish this.

Waste Love: Part Seven
Tumblr media
Pairing: Colson Baker|Machine Gun Kelly x OFC Warnings: Language, Alcohol and Drug Use, Smut, Violence, Angst, Fluff  A/N: credit for the bomb ass banner is to best friend @coffee-obsessed-writer Masterlist is now in effect and can be found at the bottom before the tags. This is another short one, I’m sorry :(
Tumblr media
“The fuck is that shit, man?” Slim asked accusingly, “You fucking stupid or somethin’?”
“Bro, what the fuck ever,” Colson deflected, brushing him off with a shake of his head, “I’m done with this bullshit.”
Colson turned to pick his phone up from the arm of the couch so he could leave, but was suddenly speared into the furniture, his face instantly smacking into the wall behind the sofa. Pain shot through his face for a split second before relocating to the back of his head, the feeling of fists pounding against his skull overwhelming.
Colson managed to get turned over to face his attacker, Rook. The man was furious, his face red and straining as he fought against Slim and Andre, who were already trying to get him off. When the two larger men finally got a grip on him and started to pull, JP saw the perfect opportunity to lift his leg and kick out, his sneakered foot coming in contact hard with Colson’s face.
The sound of bone crunching was almost vomit-inducing. Colson’s hands instantly covered his face, blood pouring through his fingers and down his arms as he leaned over the arm of the sofa in pain. Rook huffed and strained against the arms leading him towards the door, determined and out for more blood.
“You’re a fucking bitch, Kels. Stay the fuck away from my fucking sister.” Rook spat, attempting to break away from Slim’s grasp as Andre moved to open the door. Slim finally shoved Rook outside into the hallway of the studio, dragging him towards the exit.
Baze threw a towel at Colson, shaking his head in anger before walking out. Andre narrowed his eyes at Colson, watching as the blonde man held the cloth to his nose, his tear-rimmed eyes already swelling.
“You the dumbest nigga I know, you know that?” Andre started, still holding the door open as he pointed at Colson, “You fucked up. Period. Now go to the hospital and get checked out.”
Andre shook his head as he walked out, letting the door close behind him with a loud bang.
Colson knew better than to think that anything in that article was true. He’d seen dozens of other ones with practically the same content and had laughed about them before. Tiffany had even sent him a few and laughed with him. He knew better. He’d caused the one thing he never wanted- an issue with his friends.
--
It had taken months, and they still weren’t completely back to normal yet, but JP forgave Colson eventually. So did everyone else. Except for Tiffany.
She’d packed up almost all of her stuff out of her and Rook’s house and had left literally zero trace of her at Colson’s before climbing into her car and just leaving. It took her two weeks before she’d answer JP’s calls, her brother pissed and angry and worried about her. Their father was the one who made sure JP knew his sister was alright and had told him he’d be sure she’d call him.
Tiffany had moved to New York City from California, the woman wanting to get as far away from Colson or any memories of him as possible.
She’d found a little apartment in a nice neighborhood near Chinatown, the space clear and fresh and hers. She didn’t think she’d enjoy living alone after being her brother’s roommate since his birth, but she realized what she’d been missing that entire time when she didn’t have to trip over his clothes or shoes or left over women every morning.
She’d been working as a freelance makeup artist and photographer, which was actually going a lot better than she’d expected. She’d be lying if she said it didn’t have anything to do with who her past consisted of, but she was okay with that. It was the least the asshole could do, in her opinion.
She was leaned against her kitchen counter waiting on her coffee to brew, one morning, when the sound of Colson’s voice through her phone scared the living shit out of her. ‘Lace Up’ blasted from the speaker, Ashleigh’s name and face flashing across the screen. Scrunching her face in confusion, she swiped the green button, answering the call.
“Bitch, please, please, please tell me you’re not busy today.” The woman begged, her voice sounding frantic and almost on the verge of tears.
“Why?” Tiffany asked back, suspicion lacing her tone. Ashleigh was one of the only people besides her brother she had remained in contact with, and even that was few and far in between. She knew that there would only be a couple of reasons for her to need her.
“Okay, please just don’t say no.” Ash started, obviously shaking from what ever anxiety she was dealing with, “I wouldn’t ask you if it wasn’t for the fact that we’re literally fucked if you don’t help.”
“What the fuck are you even talking about?” Tiffany inquired, pouring herself a cup of coffee.
“I need a photographer.” Ash explained, “We have like fifty grand into this fucking production for this music video for Dubb and Jordan’s photography dude can’t make it or some shit. I might need your help with makeup, too, ‘cuz I haven’t been able to get a hold of her today, either.”
“Colson’s going to be there?” Tiffany guessed.
“Yeah, hence the begging.” She sighed. It was obvious she was desperate. She knew how much Tiffany was hurt by what happened and was just as pissed at Colson, but she’d promised Dubb that she’d get everything taken care of.
“I don’t know, Ash…” Tiffany replied, wanting to be able to help her friend but not wanting to have to see him.
“Look, I’ll keep him as far away from you as humanly possible, okay? Pleaseeee, Tiff. I’ll even pay you.”
After a few more minutes of begging, Tiffany finally caved. She got the info on the location and set about getting everything together, anxiety and dread filling the pit of her stomach. She’d thought she’d put all of this behind her, but here she was, one call throwing her all back in it.
She was grateful that Colson hadn’t arrived yet when she got there. Ash met her in the lobby of the studio they were using for the shoot and ushered her in to show her where she would be setting everything up, Jordan giving her a huge smile and a big hug when he spotted her.
“Thank you so much for the help, Tiff, like, seriously. I don’t know what I’d do without you right now.” The man told her, squeezing her shoulders again as he lead her towards a group of girls who were to be the models, “If you wanna start on makeup first that’d be awesome. I won’t need you for any of the photographs until a little bit later on today.”
“Sounds good,” She said with a smile, waving to the girls as he introduced her.
Tiffany was in the finishing up doing one of the girls’ faces when she heard his voice. Well, his laugh, actually. It echoed through the open space, and Tiffany couldn’t help but turn her head in the direction of it. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw him, nerves pitting deeper as she watched him turn in her direction. He hadn’t noticed her yet, his phone in his hand serving as a distraction.
Colson’s cerulean gaze met hers from across the room when he looked up, a shocked expression crossing his face as he stopped in his tracks. Ash caught him as he started to head towards Tiff, distracting him from her and leading him away as quickly as she could.
Shaking her head, Tiffany turned back to her client. The girl eyed her suspiciously, her gaze moving from Colson to Tiff, and asked, “Aren’t you that girl he used to date?”
Tiffany’s mouth opened and closed in surprise, her eyes widening, “Um…”
Her reply was interrupted by Jordan coming up and whisking her away before she could answer, and Tiffany was mentally thanking him a thousand times. Another girl sat in her chair instantly, the ebony-skinned woman already looking irritated.
“Hello, I’m Tiffany. How’re you today?” Tiffany smiled politely, brushing the woman’s hair out of her face gently.
“Just don’t poke me in the eye, alright?” The woman huffed, cocking an eyebrow as she raked her eyes down Tiffany’s frame, judging Tiffany’s dirty Chucks and bare face, “You better know what you’re doing.”
Cocking a haughty eyebrow of her own, Tiffany took a step back, “Excuse me?”
“Did I stutter? You poke me or hurt me in any way and I’mma stomp your ass.” The woman threatened, rolling her eyes, “Everytime I let a white bitch do my makeup, they fuck my shit up.”
Tiffany was about to spit back at the woman, anger seeping through her when Colson seemingly came out of nowhere to her defense, his eyes narrowed and serious as he pointed at the woman, “The fuck you just say, bitch?”
“Who the fuck-” The woman began, but was cut off.
“Nah, fuck that. Aye, yo, Dubb, this one’s gotta go.” Colson shouted, pointing down to the woman in the chair as Tiffany stood there, “I don’ like her attitude.”
“Nigga, fuck you,” The model spat, standing up and getting into Colson’s personal space, “Who the fuck you think you are?”
“I’m the dude who’s paying you to be on your knees and shakin’ your ass, bitch.” Colson rebutted proudly, a humiliating smile being thrown at the girl, “And I’m the dude who just fired your skeevy ass.”
“It’s fine, Kels, don’t worry about it,” Tiffany promised, gesturing that it wasn’t a big deal, “It’s nothing.”
“The fuck it is. Ain’t no hoe talk about my girl that way,” Colson replied, not looking away from the model as he spoke, pointing towards the door, “Now get the fuck out.”
“Best do what he says, girl!” Dubb could be heard shouting from across the room somewhere. The woman huffed and crossed her arms over her chest, rounding on Tiffany, who was leaning against the counter behind her. Tiff raised her eyebrows and shrugged nonchalantly, not about to defend her or try to keep her there.
“You good?” Colson asked once the girl had stomped off, his voice low and avoiding eye contact.
Tiffany nodded, swallowing thickly against the lump in her throat as she looked away.
“Bitch was fuckin’ stupid.” Colson commented, shaking his head.
“Thanks, Kels.” Tiffany replied, turning her face to finally look at him, the guardedness in her eyes unmistakable, “I can take care of myself, though.”
“I know. Just didn’t like what I was hearing.” He shrugged, looking down at his shoes as he mumbled, “It’s good to see you, Tiff.”
“Yeah.” She returned blankly, her eyes flicking to Ash as she yelled for him.
“Yeah,” Colson replied, nodding his head to Ash in recognition before finally meeting Tiffany’s hazel irises, “You think we can talk later?”
Tiffany sighed, afraid that this would happen. She knew what he’d say, how he’d apologize, how she wouldn’t be able to stay mad at him. She’d been hoping that he would just ignore her, but she knew better.
“Maybe. I’ll let you know before I leave.” Tiffany responded, hearing Ash call for him again. Colson let a small smile slip for her as he nodded, seeming to be happy with her answer for now as he walked away.
The rest of the shoot went without too many hiccups, and Tiffany was able to get hundreds of shots that Jordan loved. She was packing the last of her things in her bags when she felt him walk up behind her, the indescribable energy that was colson instantly recognizable.
“Thanks for all the help today, Tiff. Seriously.” He stated, leaning against the counter beside her with a joint between his fingers.
Tiffany looked up to him with a soft smile, nodding her head while she zipped up the suitcase, “Always.”
The tension was obvious between them as she rose to her feet, awkwardly standing there while waiting on him to say something else. He held the joint out for her and she took it, bringing the cone to her lips and inhaling deeply, hoping it would help calm her nerves.
“You busy tonight?” Colson finally asked, taking the spliff back from her as she exhaled the thick smoke.
“Um, not that I know of.” She shrugged.
“You wanna go get a drink or somethin’ later?”
Biting her lip in hesitation, Tiffany shrugged again before meeting his crystalline gaze, “I mean, I guess.”
Instantly taking any answer that wasn’t ‘no,’ Colson’s smile beamed at her as he passed the joint back, “I can pick you up once I finish with this interview I gotta go to. Bring by something to smoke before hand.”
“Okay,” She replied, still unsure but deciding to at least be grown enough to hear what he had to say, “I’ll text you my address.”
“Cool,” Colson responded as Ash hollered that it was time for them to go, “I’ll see you later, Tiff.”
He leaned in hesitantly, holding his arm out for permission for a hug. She smirked at him but obliged, letting his arms envelope her in his warmth and scent. She couldn’t help but squeeze him a little, letting herself soak in his embrace for a moment before pulling away. He gave her another gentle smile accompanied with a wink before heading in the direction of where Ashleigh was screaming for him again.

Day 17, 2018 - Shaft
Shaft – 1971 – Parks, Gordon
(Masculinity Monday)
“What you think and what you can prove are two different bags.” – John Shaft
Tumblr media
Have you seen Shaft? Because you need to see Shaft[i].
This film is considered one of the crown jewels in the “Blaxploitation” genre of film making. Look, I’m no expert in Blaxploitation, all I know is Shaft is fucking amazing.
It’s essentially an updated film noir[ii] that takes place in 1970 Manhattan.
Tumblr media
Richard Roundtree plays the titular character of John Shaft – a private detective licensed to carry a gun, love the ladies, and take no shit.
Word on the street is that Harlem crime boss Bumpy Jonas (Moses Gunn) is looking for Shaft. Shaft wants to know why and he also wants to know why the cops are so interested in knowing why too.
You see, John Shaft has a connection in the police department, Lt. Vic Androzzi (Charles Cioffi) – he’s white, but a wop[iii] you can trust so it’s cool baby. Androzzi knows Bumpy is looking for Shaft, and he tried to get info – but Shaft stays tight lipped. Ya gotta earn it.
Tumblr media
After Shaft quickly dismisses two of Bumpy’s henchman from his office, one via the window[iv], he makes it clear that if Bumpy wants something he’ll have to come down to Shaft’s office, you dig?
Bumpy comes and gives the lowdown: somebody has kidnapped his college-age daughter Marcy and he wants to hire Shaft to find her and bring her home. Bumpy suspects it could be some of those young Black Power wannabes, but Shaft shuts that down quick. Can’t be them, they’d never kidnap a young Black woman – that’s counter-revolutionary.
Tumblr media
Bumpy is convinced – but tells Shaft he still may want to go talk to those young men to see if they have info.
Shaft goes and reconnects with one of those men, Ben Buford (Christopher St. John) and his crew. Suddenly they’re under siege, attacked by gunfire. Ben and Shaft manage to find a way out of the carnage, but crew members are lost.
Tumblr media
Shaft brings Ben to a safe house to hide, then he gets intel from Androzzi. Turns out there’s a bunch of Mafiosi hitmen who’ve been pouring into Manhattan from out of town. The feeling is that these guys are trying to start a war with Bumpy and take over his turf – that’s why the cops were so interested in what Shaft knew. It’s clear that the Mafia kidnapped Marcy to shake up Bumpy.
Androzzi also tells Shaft why it’s so important that this war never starts:
“It's a bad thing, John. Mafia against Bumpy. I mean, it's hood against hood - on the inside. On the outside, it's black against white. It could be, we could have tanks and troops on Broadway, if this thing breaks open.”
Tumblr media
Androzzi is just trying to keep things from getting out of control and Shaft sees his point. With Androzzi’s help, Shaft tracks down two of the hitmen and they’re arrested. While the two men are in custody, Shaft talks to them alone, and sets up a meeting to discuss terms for the return of Marcy.
Now it won’t be easy to get Marcy back, but Shaft has set up a slick operation using some of Ben’s people to get the girl to safety, prevent a war, satisfy Bumpy and get paid and laid.
Tumblr media
I want to specifically mention Moses Gunn as Bumpy. That was some fantastic acting[v]. He exudes quiet and confident menace – just want you need in a crime boss.
I also want to highlight the director, Gordon Parks. This was his second feature film, but before that he was a renowned photo journalist, including freelance work for Vogue. He became the first African American staff photographer for in Life magazine. His photography is truly extraordinary (links below).
Tumblr media
Honestly, this was one of those times where I just knew after seeing Shaft that one of the holes in my heart was filled.
I love a quotable movie – two of my faves are The Big Lebowski and Moonstruck – and now I add Shaft to that list. I tried to write them all down, but honestly, I would just be transcribing the entire thing.
Tumblr media
It also aged pretty well. I was expecting far more cringe-worthy moments. I was impressed that while Shaft is a lothario, in at least one scene a conquest gives him some stick, and the movie makes it clear that she’s right.
Entertaining from moment one, Shaft is fucking KILLER.
Tumblr media
CLASSIC! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

NOTES:
[i] This is my third year doing #FilmPenance and each year I see at least one movie that I must immediately have everyone I know watch it. Such is Shaft.
[ii] No pun intended. Honest.
[iii] I’m of Italian descent. If you’re not, stay the fuck away from saying “wop”. Grazie.
[iv] It was kinda his own fault.
[v] There’s this one scene that just made my heart explode with how face-forward awesome it was. Can’t say what it was, or it would spoil it.

Obsessive - Part 28
Clay knows who the stalker / attacker is. What happens next? (This will be multi parts so check back for my next installment. As always, if you want to be notified of my updates just let me know and I will message you when I post new chapters) **Disclaimer: I do not suffer from OCD so I cannot begin to imagine what it is like. Any and everything that I am writing is what I’ve learned from people I know and the internet as well as asking advice from friends who know more about it than me. If anything is wrong or inaccurate of someone with OCD, please excuse my ignorance, as I said I am asking questions to help with the descriptions but I’m sure I will get something wrong eventually.
Juice Ortiz x Reader
Tumblr media
(GIF isn’t mine) __________________
“Come on.” Happy was walking towards you and motioned with his arm for you to stand up, “Gotta go pack a bag.” You started to protest but Happy kept talking, “Clay’s orders (Y/N). You don’t have to like it, just gotta do it.” You sighed, knowing there was no way you could tell the Unholy One ‘no’. Chibs patted you on the leg and stood up, clapping Happy on the shoulder and steering him away a few steps, “How’d Clay take seeing Juicey boy? Didnae hear any yelling so I assume it went okay?”
Happy nodded, “They got some threats--” he began but Chibs nodded, “Aye, (Y/N) tol’ me. What else?”
“Needs you to call everyone and get’em up here.” Happy rasped.
“Now? Its almost 9…” Chibs questioned but Happy only nodded his head in response, “Must be big….” Chibs exhaled heavily and turned back to you, “...Alright, I’ll give everyone a call,” he raised his eyebrows at you and extended his hand to help you up.
“What do I need to pack exactly?” you huffed at Happy who stood behind you, hands in his pockets as you pulled several neatly folded shirts, jeans, and dresses out of your dresser.. He shrugged as if to say he had no idea and you sighed, “Hap, do you at least know how LONG I need to pack for?”
Another shrug.
You grumbled at him as you stomped past, walking out of your bedroom into the hallway. If it hadn’t been for all the time you had spent with Happy recently, you never would’ve felt so comfortable giving the Killer attitude, but now you knew he’d never hurt you so you had no problem expressing your true feelings, even if they were unfairly directed at him. You opened the hall closet to pull out some sheets and a few towels, if your dad was gonna force you to sleep at the clubhouse, you’d need clean towels and linens in order to make yourself feel less unclean. You gathered a fitted sheet and a flat sheet that had fallen off the shelf and re-folded them, placing them in your bag and grabbing a couple towels as well.
“John Howard?” Juice questioned Clay, “How do you know who he is?” “Its a long story, Juice, one that I don’t want to have to tell twice. Just get all the info you can on the guy before church, and a current address if there is one available,” Clay sighed a deep, stressful sigh, “I’ll give you and everyone else the rundown when they get here.” Juice nodded and turned to walk off to the bedroom in the back of the clubhouse, but halted and spun back around, “Hey Clay?” he spoke, getting the older man’s attention, “I’m sorry you found out about me and (Y/N) the way you did….” he trailed off for a moment, “...It wasn’t my intentions to keep any secrets from you, but things got complicated really fast and--” “--It’s okay Juice,” Clay cut him off, “I forget sometimes that when it comes to her and Gemma… they’re not club business…. I can’t just keep her away from you all. But she’s my little girl, and I love her. I just want her to be safe. You get that, right?” “Alright, yeah…” Juice replied before smiling to his President and marching down the hall with purpose.
Juice stared at the mugshot of the man Clay had ordered him to research. The man in the picture was young, so the photo couldn’t have been taken long after the picture of ‘Emily’ had been, who Juice now was completely convinced was actually you as a baby. He pulled up the perpetrator’s rap sheet, a long list of misdemeanors and small offenses, all relating to drugs or prostitution, except for one, the last one. First Degree manslaughter, 25 years. He took a deep breath and exhaled, this guy had just gotten out of prison 6 months ago, it made sense now why the stalking had seemed to just begin out of nowhere, but there was no current address. Juice gathered the info he had printed, including the mugshot, and closed his laptop just in time to hear voices drifting down the hall. It was time to go to church and learn the truth about (Y/N)’s stalker.
“She was just about to wrap her lips around my dick when Chibs called. It better be worth a skipped blowjob man…”  you heard Tig telling Bobby as he followed behind you and Happy walking into the clubhouse. You rolled your eyes. Of course it was important, it was about your stalker. Happy had your bag slung over his shoulder as he guided you to the bar and set your things on the counter top. Non-members weren’t allowed in the Chapel during a meeting unless it was absolutely necessary. You grabbed a seat on the stool and watched as Tig, Bobby, Chibs, Happy, Jax, Opie, and finally Piney and Juice filed into the chapel. Before closing the door behind him, Juice turned to look at you, his expression unreadable as he nodded in your direction and you smiled softly back, wondering what was going on inside.
The gavel slammed down, marking the beginning of church for everyone inside. Clay gazed around the room, landing on Juice as he took a deep breath and sighed heavily. Juice could feel his heart thumping in his chest as he awaited the information, but he felt bad that the one person this affected the most wasn’t able to sit in.
“Where’s (Y/N)?” Clay asked to the room, but was looking at Juice as he spoke. Happy was the first to respond, “I… uh, She’s...not a member, boss.”
“This is about (Y/N)?” Jax and Bobby asked to a deaf ear as Clay shook his head, “Go get her, someone, please. She needs to hear this.”
You were looking through your phone, when the chapel door opened and Chibs called to you, “(Y/N), yer dad wants ye in here, love,” he winked at you as you stood from your seat, and walked over to the door, trying to fight back the grin that was on your face. You were a little too happy to be sitting in on a club meeting. You stepped past Chibs who closed the door behind you as you scanned the room. All eyes were on you, but your eyes caught Juice’s and you walked around the table, behind Piney, to pull up a seat beside him. Your dad smiled at you half-heartedly as Chibs sat back down and he began to speak. “You all know that some piece of shit attacked my little girl about a month ago,” Clay paused as there was a chorus of nods and mumbles throughout the room, “and today I got some information about who it might be. Juice..?” he trailed off prompting Juice to stand and hand a picture with a mugshot on it to Jax and another to Clay.
“John Howard.” Clay said and Tig and Piney both sucked in a harsh breath, cursing in whispers swept around the room as you sat, not understanding what some of the people in the room obviously already knew. Juice passed another sheet of paper over to Jax as the mugshots circulated around the table and began to speak, “He did 25 years in a state penitentiary for first degree manslaughter in the death of a woman named Rachel Smith, court documents say prosecution was going for second degree murder at the time, and even with all the evidence really stacking up that way, Howard had apparently hired the best defense attorney in the state and they got it bumped down to manslaughter. He got out six months ago, but his release is where his trail goes cold.” Juice stopped speaking and sat down beside you, taking your hand in his as the room filled with more whispers. “Why do we think this is the guy that’s been following her?” Chibs asked, leaning his elbows on the table top.
Your father sighed and leaned back in his chair, “Someone sent a photograph to her….” he trailed off, hesitant to continue talking, “....of John Howard and her when she was an infant.”
You weren’t honestly surprised, at this point you had figured out that the infant in the old Polaroid was you. You were just relieved that the club knew the person who had been tormenting you. “Because of the threats that were sent to Juice, I have reason to believe that he is the--” “--Boss,” Happy interrupted Clay, standing up from his seat at the end of the table, “I’ve seen this guy,” he was clutching one of the mugshots in his hand. “He’s (Y/N)’s neighbor.”

that ffxv review I owed y’all
I know I told y’all I’d have this up before the end of 2016 but honestly, I’ve just haven’t been in the mood. today tho /inhales deeply/ today is a perfectly salty day for this.
(spoilers ahead, of course)
tbh, I don’t even know where to start. ffxv was shock full of potential but somehow, square managed to fall short in pretty much EVERY front.
I’ll start with maybeee the easiest part, characters: this need to be broken down into two distinct groups tho cos holy crap, people.
main characters: despite ignis’ lack of everything during the game (he was definitely the least worked character), the main bros are great. I loved their bond, I’m forever grateful that we never actually got a no homo moment and honestly, there isn’t a single one of them that is just straight up unlikeable - tho I DO have my issues with Gladio. oh boy, DO I HAVE THEM.
point is, yeah, they’re great. they are also in need of more background, except noctis.
‘but bekas, we had brotherhood!’ yeah we did, but would it have hurt to have some banter with prompto, wondering if his parents’ made it out okay of insomnia? we know they weren’t at home when prompto went to try and show them his crownsguard outfit (which we also only know from ANOTHER extra piece of media that is not the bloody game) but they could have been in the city, still? prompto literally never worries, or is never given the chance to. at this point, I’m guessing the argentum family (who adopted him at age 1) is made up of ghosts. that or prompto doesn’t care, which is laughable, since that little ball of sunshine cares about everything. so it’s just missing info. plus, the MT plotline? an UTTER MESS but I’ll get there further down the post.
what about gladio? ‘but bekas, he’s the royal bodyguard, he needs to have his head in the game!’ royal bodyguard didn’t have his head in the game twice during the campaign and is given NO opportunity to open up about WHY. example: he could have shown the tiniest bit of concern/mourning over his father during the titan chapter. I mean, it couldn’t have been too hard to shoe in a line or two, just anything to let the less eagle eyed players know that one of the reasons why he’s flying off the handle is because he’s also dealing with his father’s passing, right? chapter 10 is another can of worms: would it have hurt to have gladio actually tell us WHY he’s being a giant mountain of salt instead of having him nearly punching noctis out of his boots and being an absolute ass to ignis (and no, I don’t care about possible excuses you might send my way: when he answers ignis’ “that proved to be a challenge” with a salty/rude “what did you expect” to which ignis can only sigh, all understanding I might have felt just went completely out of the window cos WOW. NO, YOU ASSHOLE.)? ‘but bekas, we kinda know why, everything went to hell?’ true but we never get to hear gladio open up. EVER. THAT’S WHAT’S MISSING HERE, an oportunity to show that gladio is more than the bloody shield, he’s a human with feelings too. this way, it’s really hard to sympathize with him and that’s where square screwed up.
ignis then, he needed a lot more. he’s always there, he’s the group’s pillar but he barely has any exposition? I mean, we barely know anything from his early life (yeah yeah, trains to be advisor, learns how to cook cos of noctis but what else? there has to be something else, right??) and he barely has an actual part in the game besides being the advisor until shit hits the fan? I mean, he gets blind in chapter 9 and then blows up at gladio and noctis in 10 so we get a peek at what is going on with him but that’s literally it, he doesn’t get to express it any more. it almost as if his role was to be yet another victim of ardyn to fuel noctis’ rage cos post chapter 10, it’s almost as if he didn’t need to be there. ignis scientia deserved better 2kforever.
side characters: /BURIES FACE IN HANDS, GROANS FOR FOREVER/ YOU KNOW, WE GOTTA BEAT THE DEAD HORSE A LIL’ MORE. WE GOTTA. F E M A L E S.
gentiana was just. there. in a couple scenes. to be a plot device. explain some lore to young!noctis/the players, give him the oracle’s trident, become one of the summons and pop up in a couple photographs cos why not?
iris is the little sister, too smol, too cute, too in love with noctis to be anything else in the main game. THEN they give her a badass rank off screen and lmao, never mention her or show her ever again. nice.
aranea has more characterization than luna AKA the main lady and that says everything tbh. still, her change of mind is never given the proper attention it deserves and so it ~just happens~ and the players have to roll with it cos of course they have. also, she pops up randomly to help you for some reason. wherever you might be in the globe as well, cos she has amazing tracking abilities. /snaps fingers/ just. like that. aranein, araneout, no small talk.
LUNA. oh my GOD, luna. girl shows up more times in FLASHBACKS post-death than in life. her lines could fill up a whole page, if it was written in arial, size 18 and with extra distance between words. she was the plot device to end all plot devices, just THERE to give noctis strength and then fuel his hate against ardyn, just like ignis. except she dies to save noctis. cos of course she does. oh, and she was dying already, apparently. the covenant price and all, which I honestly only realized was a thing after browsing through tumblr. A+ STORYTELLING /JAZZ HANDS/ also, she’s what connects noctis and ravus, two characters that were supposed to be parallel to one another (AKA who noctis could have become had his life gone to hell as a kid and he had made all the wrong choices) but that never actually realize it was supposed to be that way cos they meet up twice and ravus is barely non existent oops~
‘but bekas, kingsglaive---’ kg!luna and xv!luna are two entirely different characters, not to mention that one should not have watch kingsglaive to understand the main game’s HEROINE. H E R O I N E. do y’all see my problem here?? luna was hailed as the heroine to end all heroines, that one character all the other heroines strive to be but can never reach but in the end, you can count the scenes luna has in the game before her death in one hand and one of them is OPTIONAL. OPTIONAL.
but then again, the males are also ??? ravus; what exactly is his deal, again? what is he trying to do, what is he even thinking?? ‘... bekas, square said they’ll add to chapter 13 soon---’ they SHOULDN’T HAVE TO. in what world, in what company meeting, do they come forward and say ‘x character needs to do thing in order to achieve that other thing cos their motive is that third thing’ and people just think it’s a-okay to skip straight to the ending cos lmao, it isn’t important? only to have fans tell them afterwards that err YES, IT IS? and only then do they get off their asses to let us know? it’s bad writing, TERRIBLE writing. one thing is not to act like your costumers are dumb but another to act like they an read your mind??
excuse me, but this just--- fast forwards to the main problem this game has and honestly, I’m done beating around the bush: it’s incomplete. final fantasy xv doesn’t know what the hell it is doing until chapter 11.
we start with the bros leaving insomnia to catch a boat to altissia, but everything goes to hell when insomnia falls and the king dies. then cor shows up, tells noctis he has to step up and, that to have a fighting chance, he needs to grab the royal arms and complete the armiger. okay, so far so good but THEN, surprise, luna has been going around the globe creating covenants with the gods so that they give noctis a chance to receive their marks (which couldn’t she have told noctis about in their notebook?? instead of having the guy GUESS why titan’s ugly ass mug kept yelling at him in his head?? umbra is a divine messenger, I’m pretty sure your message wouldn’t have been intercepted????) so off we go to accept ramus’ mark and then leviathan’s, COMPLETELY FORGETTING ABOUT THE PREVIOUS PLOTLINE OF THE ROYAL ARMS. It’s like it vanishes, forget the arms!!! we got gods, people!! then altissia goes to hell, luna dies, ignis is blind and they set off to gralea to grab the crystal, as if all of their other goals didn’t matter any more. they just grab the royal arm at the tomb cos it’s convenient, not cos it’s necessary.
only when we leave the mines and set off towards tenebrae does the game actually start to play out like it knows where it needs to go and how to get there and even then, it has hiccups: the entirety of ravus’ character arc, prompto is one of the people who were bred to become MTs (which lmao, happens so that prompto manages to open up a door, we have a few pats in the back and then is never mentioned again. EVER. no banter/scene in which these guys, who have been talking of MTs as soulless and machines and monsters, discuss the fact that prompto was to become one of them. if there was a chance he might be particularly affected by the scourge, given the experiments. how did he reach insomnia. if ardyn had done something to him that could have a problem given said experiences. NOTHING. ‘bekas, but is it really needed to, it’s meant to look like it’s really not a problem’ gladio fucking off for a chapter is not a problem, it’s just weird; prompto being revealed to be a niff and a test subject IS something that we need to discuss. it’s kind of a big plot point???? you don’t drop a bomb like that and vault over it.)...
then there’s 10 years that somehow square thinks it’s a-okay to cover with talcott filling noctis in and no?? no, it’s not? gladio is apparently engaged, ignis apparently still cooks for cid I guess??? prompto has been hanging around hammerhead for 10 years doing nothing besides hunting and we’re supposed to be fine with that offhand info? we needed at least one catching up scene and I mean, AN ACTUAL CATCHING UP SCENE. not noctis telling the others that they need to catch up, ignis suggests we go inside and we have a fade to black before you’re back in control of noctis and your mission objective is to leave for insomnia.
the fact that we never have a scene in which noctis tells his BROTHERS that his duty is to die and their duty is to make sure he gets there is unforgivable. it took him 10 years to come to terms with his duty (which brings me to another point which is--- nobody thought to tell the chosen one what exactly he was meant to do when he reached maybe 18 years old? so he could come to terms with it in time? noooo, just let him know he’s chosen for lord knows what and let the hammer fall when it has to, I’m sure the knowledge that everyone was hiding that important tidbit is not translated into betrayal somewhere in noctis, which totaaaally won’t make accepting his fate harder, I’m sure /SHRUG), are we supposed to believe that the bros would have been a-okay with it? no objections, no outbursts, nothing?
gladio I can see keeping his cool, maaaaybe ignis as well but prompto? he may have matured but I’m sure he had something to say about his bestfriend returning after 10 years and then telling him ten minutes later ‘I have to die’. and no, the final campsite doesn’t make up for it. at all. that’s an after-the-bomb-drops scene, we needed to watch the actual bomb dropping, in my honest opinion.
then when it comes to the actual game--- the sidequests are boring (it’s literally fetch x rock for dino/dyno/whatever, fetch tag for dave, hunt for frogs for frog lady, do hunts, fetch berry for diner lady, fetch x for takka, fetch x for cid and cindy, fish x fish, take x photo, help x chocobo... did I actually miss any sidequest??), the post game dungeons are literally copy paste of each other (except maybe 3 at most), pitioss is smart but mostly a nightmare for a lousy accessory, the game’s big ass boss is nothing but grinding (there are monsters in the dungeons that inflict more damage than the adamantoise and it’s ridiculous)...
all in all, the game IS fun to play. it is, I have nearly 150h in it, but in insight, it’s seriously lacking. you can tell the team was rushed to finish it and honestly, I understand why, but 6 more months would have done miracles in maybe 49% of all I mentioned here.
here’s to hoping the dlc that is to be released fixes some of these issues.
ps: if you think I forgot to mention anything, let me know cos at some point while writing this, I just lost track of my point in the salt valleys!
/bekas out
