Was Delicious Food From a Halal Restaurant Using Rice Wine Now?
A video went viral recently and it shows a food preparation process of a restaurant on TikTok. What caught more attention was when the individual showed restaurant staff using sesame oil and a mixture of rice wine. Rice wine is a type of alcohol used in cooking. However, it is understood that the restaurant serves halal food and is owned by Muslims. But Muslims are banned from consuming…

K Grill, 3646 Nogales St, Ste b, West Covina, CA 91792
Tumblr media
There aren’t many Mediterranean restaurants in/near West Covina. K Grill is Persian and halal. The menu includes appetizers, salads, kabobs (chicken, beef, lamb).
Chicken koobideh plate ($14.99): Two ground chicken kabobs, long grain rice with a bit of saffron, grilled tomato, garlic sauce/spread. The rice was plain and dry – some Persian places have very flavorful, moist rice. The kabobs were fine – lightly spiced. A bit plain too. The tomato had no char. The garlic sauce was runny but strong. They provided a thinner pita cut into wedges.
Appetizer combo ($12.99): yogurt, hummus, shirazi salad, 3 dolmas: The four items were packed separately and I think they gave us more than we’d usually get for an appetizer combo. Mr. Froyo said it was good. The hummus did not have much tahini. He said it tasted like ground up garbanzo beans but he was fine with that. He liked the yogurt but there was so much of it that he didn’t finish it. The dolmas were small and not too sour; they seemed fresh. He really liked the freshness and simplicity of the shirazi (cucumber tomato salad).
The décor is okay – they have rugs (Persian?) on the wall and some TVs. I guess it’s homey. Parking was easy to find since they’re in a big strip mall anchored by the new Shun Fat Supermarket.
Service was friendly. I tried to call in the order but no one answered the phone. It took 20 minutes and they cooked the kabobs to order. She even threw in some lentil soup and several bags of pita wedges. Everything was packed well with lots of plastic bags.

The Famous Mediterranean Diet
Tumblr media
The Mediterranean diet is famous worldwide and has always been one of the healthiest options for a fit lifestyle. It is based on the traditional food items consumed and made by people in the 1960s. It came forward that these people used to be extremely healthy and exceptionally fit. Moreover, they had a strong immunity system and, thus, lower risks of deadly diseases. You may assume that it's just a diet like any other, such as keto, high-protein, low-fat, .etc, would help you lose weight. But instead, it is so much more than that. This Mediterranean diet is a lifestyle that would protect your heart and strengthen your brain. It would prevent premature death and fight against diabetes and diarrhea. Since the Mediterranean belongs to almost 21 countries, there is no one way to follow the diet. So we only know the generalized dietary pattern and everybody develops it according to their needs and availability.
The Basics Of The Mediterranean Diet
So to follow this diet regime correctly, you must live by four rules.
1.   Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, potatoes, whole grains, seafood, nuts, spices, and olive oil.
2.   Moderately eat eggs, yogurt, poultry, and cheese.
3.   Rarely eat red meat.
4.   Never eat added sugar, refined grains, processed meat, and sugary beverages.
What Can You Eat?
So what food strictly and originally belongs to the Mediterranean diet is hard to tell because of its diversity. However, it has been examined that this diet mainly revolves around plants and less on animals. So here is a detailed list of all the delicious food items you can eat per your diet.
●    Fresh Fruits: Bananas, pears, grapes, figs, peaches, apples, oranges, melons, and strawberries.
●    Fresh Vegetables: Onions, carrots, cucumbers, Brussels sprouts, and tomatoes.
●    Dairy: Greek yogurt, yogurt, and cheese.
●    Healthy Fats: Olives, extra virgin olive oil, and avocados.
●    Herbs & Spices: Basil, rosemary, nutmeg, pepper, cinnamon, mint, and garlic.
What Happens When You Go To A Restaurant?
Dinners and lunch at a fancy restaurant always call out a celebration or a reunion. They are almost always so significant that you can't miss them. And who would want to dig into their couch while they can mingle with all their friends and family?
So following a diet at a restaurant can be overwhelming. Either it's the food calling out to you, or your loved ones are forcing you to taste something at least. But don't forget, where there is a will, there is a way! You can always ask for a healthy menu selection from the server or give them special instructions to customize your dish. Almost all San Diego Mediterranean restaurants provide everything their customers require, and they will go to any extent to fulfill your taste. Because of its popularity in the cuisine industry, several Halal Restaurants in San Diego also serve Mediterranean food to Muslims.
Conclusion
The Mediterranean diet is one of the best diet regimes in the world. It is widely popular because of its effectiveness. It is more of a lifestyle than just a three-month diet plan. The World Health Organization has recommended the Mediterranean diet as the most harmless regime in the world, so if you are planning to shed a few pounds or get healthier, then get started with this amazing diet.

Lebanese Cuisine's History
The importance of food is important to Lebanese culture. It is one of our greatest passions, the foundation of our social and familial lives, and the key to our health. Sharing a meal with loved ones is the best thing ever, especially when it is as delectable as the food from our culture. Here is a brief look into the evolution of Lebanese cuisine, which has a long and fascinating history.
Sharing a meal with loved ones is the best thing ever, especially when it's something as delectable as traditional Lebanese cuisine.
Tumblr media
An ancient flavour basis
Like most Middle Eastern cuisines, Lebanese banquet cuisine is inspired by the historical Levant, which comprises present-day Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Israel. Our usage of spices, such as za'atar, widely used in Lebanese cuisine, is a prime example of how the Levant has influenced us. Za'atar has been a favourite spice in this region for thousands of years. The historic roots of Levantine cuisine can also be found in traditional Lebanese foods like hummus and manoosh.
Powerful occupants
The influence of those who have lived in this ancient region throughout its history is one of the key factors that set Lebanese cuisine apart from other Middle Eastern cuisines. Let's examine two of the most significant occupations.
By far, the Ottoman Empires' more than 400-year occupation had the most influence on Lebanese cuisine (1516 – 1918). Lamb became the preferred meat due to Ottoman influence, along with stuffing made of meat and vegetables and thick, dark Turkish coffee. The Ottomans are also to blame for the excellent variety of baklava and the large variety of nuts, fruits, and bread that the Lebanese enjoy today.
The French
After the Ottoman Empire was vanquished in World War 1, the French became the country's occupiers, bringing cuisine from a different cultural background. Although the French were only there until 1946 (when Lebanon obtained independence), they left a significant legacy. The French had the greatest impact on local cuisine through their pastries and desserts; to this day, favourites like croissants and custard flan (baklava anyone? )remain.
Nomadic tastes
Since Lebanon has always maintained connections with various regions of the world, you can discover ingredients in Lebanese meals that originate from all over the world. For thousands of years, nomads would pass through Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, carrying all kinds of exotic foods like dried fruits and spices from the Far East. Beirut was once referred to as the Paris of the Middle East. Lebanese people now inhabit practically every nation on earth, and when they return home to visit, they frequently bring new spices, flavours, and influences.
Conclusion:
Lebanese cuisine has changed significantly throughout time, although it has always remained deeply rooted in its culture. You've come to the correct location if you want to sample one of the freshest, healthiest, and most delectable cultural dishes in the world. Visit the halal restaurant Newtown for Lebanese and middle eastern food.

What foods are considered haram?
pork, alcohol (not a food but yk), blood, carnivorous animals, insects, and animals that die in any way other than the islamic way of slaughter :D
oh, also, when we slaughter them it has to be in the name of god. if we dont say "in the name of god" or "in the name of allah" or any of his titles, or if we name a god worshipped other than allah (e.g. jesus), then the meat is considered haram

New York Chicken & Gyro, 961 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91106
Tumblr media
Halal meat, white sauce, hot sauce, cart cuisine from a family from Queens (NYC) – sounds like Halal Guys but it’s actually a description for the new gyros shop, New York Chicken & Gyro in Pasadena. Choose from platters (rice, salad, meat: chicken, lamb, chicken & lamb, fried dish OR falafel), pita sandwiches, burgers, sides, and drinks.
Mixed gyros ($9.99): chopped marinated chicken, seasoned grilled lamb, lettuce, tomatoes, wrapped in a warm pita bread. Wow, they loaded the pita with lots of meat (mainly meat), drizzled with their white sauce. The pita also had a bit of shredded lettuce and finely chopped tomatoes. The chicken marinade was slightly spicy. Both the lamb and chicken were chopped into small pieces. Both were delicious and tender, without being salty. The sauces were great too – a thin white tangy sauce with dill and a red hot sauce (not as spicy as HG). They use the same pita as Halal Guys – a thicker pita, warmed up. Would have been nice with onions and pickles.
Order at the counter and pay. They’ll bring the food to you when it’s ready. Service was friendly. They’ll give you extra sauce without charging you. The place has a NYC feel with graffiti art, loud music, and a TV. It was clean. Fountain drinks come with free refills.

I am so mad. This halal burger joint a few blocks away from my house circle sells halal food but is Israeli? An oxymoron. They would decorate their restaurant more when eid comes. And say eid Mubarak. They have no right to sell halal food if they will bomb Muslims in another country. I hope all the money I gave them before I knew become haram to them.

i've started my phd less than a couple of months ago. i love the work. it's hard and time consuming in a way i never thought possible, but i love it. i love my supervisor. he's so understanding and helpful.
the only thing i hate are the people at the lab. i don't know if it's because i've never worked with such a large research group before, but every day that passes i just discover something that makes me wish i was working alone. the office politics are so annoying. especially that i am as a person so oblivious to social cues and how it takes a great effort for me to really be present for social interactions. effort i could be using for my work instead. i really hope it calms down during the next few days as i focus more on my work but i will still need to deal with the postdocs in the group and i just rather not.
