So many hours it took me to complete the newly invented double knit twisted rib bind off on this cowl! The bind off was developed for me by a member of one of my fibre communities and they did such a fantastic job as it is stretchy and completely matches the invisible cast on. I put it over a pool noodle raft to block so it will dry nice & smooth all the way around.

This is getting unwieldy & difficult to photograph progress. But I’ve only got 10 rows left of colourwork design left before the top ribbing section so I’m super excited to finish it.

More progress on the fossil cowl. It took me a week of knitting every day before dinner to add another inch to the design. Double knitting is slow yet worth it!

Completed double knit fossil cowl. Pattern is the ‘Fossil Frenzy Cowl’ by HandHuntKnits that was adapted for double knitting technique.
This cowl was a year in the making, with lots and lots of help from a member in my fibre community who helped work out colour control for the twisted rib & created a stretchy twisted rib bind off for me. I dedicate this shawl to them, as without them this crazy idea to double knit this would never have happened.

Please please where did you find the pattern for the dinosaur cowl? 🙏🥺
The dino cowl is designed by HandHuntKnits. You can find the stranded colourwork pattern on their etsy here; https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1325235068/
The cowl I am knitting I am doing in double knit. Although the colourwork portion is very easily done in double knit, the twisted rib has proven a massive challenge as regular cast on/bind off of this stitch is vastly different in double knitting - in fact, a bind off for a twisted rib in double knitting doesn’t exist! I’ve got a lot of help from my online fibre community to address the challenges with this project.
