work in progress tuesday - de-aged jim style
Oluwande knelt down and peered under the bed, then sighed in relief. He pushed himself back up and stuck his head out the door. "Found them!"
Lucius' face appeared down the corridor. "Oh thank fuck. Want me to -"
"Nah, I got it. Keep looking for Stede."
Ed, thankfully, had went up, climbing to the crow's nest. Last Oluwande had heard, the Swede was up there, trying to convince him to come down.
He went back and laid down beside the bed, peering underneath it again. Folded his arms underneath his head, so it was obvious he wasn't trying to reach for them.
"Hey," he said softly, smiling at the kid underneath the bed. They couldn't have been more than nine or ten. Big black eyes, long skinny braids, and the most serious face he'd ever seen on a kid that age. He wondered if they still called themself Bonifacia. "You alright?"
Jim - he was going to keep calling them that until asked otherwise - stared at him. They were curled up in a ball, knees drawn to their chest, wedged into the smallest space beside a trunk Oluwande had shoved under there for storage.
Time for a different strategy.
"¿Estás bien?"
That got a reaction, Jim starting a little.
"Me llamo Oluwande," he said, still smiling. "¿Me recuerdas?"
Jim frowned. But still didn't respond.
There was a noise behind him. Oluwande looked at the door, saw Frenchie slide in and take a seat in the sitting nook. When he looked back at Jim, their eyes had narrowed, hand shifting towards their waist.
"Es solo nuestro amigo Frenchie," he hastened to say. "Él no te hará daño."
They didn't relax, but they were still listening.
"¿Habla usted Inglés?"
Jim gave a slow, hesitant nod. Oluwande smiled. Good. That would at least make life a little bit easier.
"Cool. I'm going to speak in English so Frenchie can understand us, alright?"
"Why am I here?" Jim asked, by way of answer. Their eyes darted past him, towards where Frenchie sat, then back to his face. "Where are you taking me?"
Oluwande shook his head. "We're not taking you anywhere, mate. You live on this ship. With me, and Frenchie, and the rest of the crew."
A fierce scowl appeared on their face, brows furrowing and mouth turning pointedly downward. It maybe would have been scary if they were older, but instead it was just remarkably cute. "I live with Nana."
"Not anymore," he said gently. "You're - you live with us. For now."
Another long moment of Jim staring hard at his face. If he wasn't used to them watching him, it might have been more unnerving. The main thing that was unnerving about it, he supposed, was how fucking close their mannerisms were to the Jim that he had first met. Like a tiny, somber adult. Given what he knew about their life, he supposed it made sense. But god, it sucked to see.
"This is a test, then," they said flatly. "For me to get home." They pulled out a knife and pointed it at him. "Take me home."
Oluwande sighed. "Mate, you're not gonna stab me."
The tip of their knife wavered. "I could."
"Sure, but you won't." He tried to smile again. "I know you don't remember, but you and I - we're friends."
Their frown wavered too. "I don't have friends."
His chest twisted at the same time he heard Frenchie bite back a noise. There was a scuffle, both him and Jim tensing, and then Frenchie lay down on the floor beside him.
"You do," Frenchie said softly. "I'm your friend. Olu is too. Promise. We aren't gonna hurt you."
Slowly the knife drew back. Jim clutched it to their chest, eyes blinking rapidly. "If you are my friends - then why won't you take me home?"

WIP Wednesday
Edit: The story has been completed and posted here on AO3 :)
Tumblr media
It's Wednesday here in the future :)
Working Title: Nine Lives (sequel to aqua vitae) Fandom: Baldur's Gate 3 Rating: Teen (non-explicit excerpt) Relationships: Rugan/Tav (Baldur’s Gate)
This is set post-game, so possible spoilers for the end of act 3.
Tumblr media
Note: This is a work in progress and is subject to major changes in the final published version. It is not proof-read or edited; all typos are mine.
Falling feels like flying. Tumbling through the sky, you feel like a rag doll cast out of an angry child’s pram.
One final tantrum from the Netherbrain in its death throes.
So this is how I go, you think. You feel strangely at peace, watching the water below rush towards you, smooth and serene as glass from up high. You look around at your friends, your eyes watering as the wind streams past your face.
One last image to hold in your mind.
Gale reaches out, his hands moving in desperate patterns, even though you know that by now he’s burnt through every scrap of his reserves. At the same time, Astarion breaks the wax seal on a scroll with both hands. His catlike grace makes him appear seated in mid-air, suspended. He was always the better rogue.
You feel the gentle tug of transmutation magic, as you are lifted up by the scruff of your neck. Featherfall sparkles around you in the sunlight. You are still descending rapidly, but floating upright now. Spread out before you is the ruined cityscape, the harbour, the grey ships and their sails. Everything and everyone you’ve fought so hard for.
You draw your arms and legs in, and shut your eyes.
The spell gives out three metres above the water, and you splash into the river. The cold water is a shock to your aching, battle-worn body. Your limbs seize up. You feel bubbles rush over and around you.
It takes a moment before your survival instincts kick in and your lungs begin to scream.
I want to live.
The thought animates your leaden legs, forces them to flutter and kick. Thrashing your way upwards, you break the surface and gasp for air.
The end of the world has come and gone. You’ve survived.
Tumblr media
The doors to the Elfsong are thrown wide open, and everyone in the city seems to be either passing through the bar, or spilling out into the streets with their drinks and singing loudly. The cellars have been emptied, and every bard in town seems to be playing on the same stage tonight. Commerce is the lifeblood of Baldur’s Gate, you recall Wyll saying. There’s nothing better for business than a near brush with death.
At some point, someone cast Prestidigitation on you, and pressed a hot drink into your hand. You clutch it numbly, the cup long grown cold.
Tomorrow, there will be a reckoning. You think about your remaining companions, your time together already coming to an end. So many goodbyes were already said that afternoon on the pier—you shake your head to interrupt the dismal thoughts. For now, you’re alive and that’s all that matters.
You can’t fault the people of Baldur’s Gate for celebrating. You would do the same if you were in their shoes.
The noise and press of the people around you is driving you mad. You put down your cup and push your way to the doors. All around you, the cheer goes up, red faces saluting you with their drinks. They hoot and holler, and shout your name.
“Tav! Tav! Tav!”
You smile and wave to your adoring crowd, as you edge your way to the exit. The roar of the tavern crowd fades as you leave their field of vision and they turn back to their revelry. You slip away from the crowd milling near the entrance and out into the night.
Most of the buildings in the Lower City are still standing, minus a few spires. Further away, folks stand around scattered bonfires, drinking and speaking more quietly.
You take in a deep breath and wrinkle your nose. The air is crisp but smells of acrid woodsmoke and ozone. Piles of illithid bodies are being burnt and tossed into collapsed doorways. Still, it’s better than being trapped indoors.
You exhale, and lean against a nearby facade that's intact. It feels like you’ve been holding your breath since you landed in the river.
“Now, that doesn’t sound very festive.” A gently chiding voice drifts over from the street.
You lift your head and watch its owner approach you, open bottle in hand. Of course he would be here, sauntering up to you, after half the city had been destroyed. This man clearly has nine lives.
“Rugan,” you say, and a smile breaks over his face. Exhausted as you are, you feel your lips quirk upwards in response.
“Tav.” He’s standing right in front of you now, and your body remembers a different night in a small room, lit by dim lamplight. You hope it’s not written all across your face.
“I like the hair piece,” he says, gesturing with the bottle.
Puzzled, you reach up towards your head and your hands close around a braided flower crown. Someone must have placed it on you in the tavern without you noticing. You pull it off, slowly, the wildflowers scattering tiny yellow and white petals as they catch in your hair.
It hangs from your hands, loosely, as you glance between it and his amused face. “It’s been a very long day,” you say, finally, and he laughs.
“Long is an understatement, lass.” He offers you the bottle and you readily accept.
“Word on the street is that we have you and your crew to thank for all of us still being alive,” he says, as you take a sip. It tastes green and medicinal on your tongue. “Let me buy you a proper drink inside.”
Highsun liqueur. You lick your lips and sigh.
“I shouldn’t.” You rub at your face and suppress a shudder at the thought of the roiling crowd in the Elfsong. “Sorry—I haven’t dared to have a drink all evening. If I accept one, I will have to drink them all, and then I'll wake up passed out in the Chionthar.”
He nods sagely, like it’s a dilemma that he’s encountered many times before. “Well, what would you like to do instead?” he asks, placidly. There’s no hint of leering or suggestion in his voice.
You’re stunned for a moment. No one’s asked you that question in a kindly manner, for a very long while. Gods and devils and their emissaries have hounded you relentlessly for what feels like forever, spurring you from one wild task to the next, the tadpole in your head all the while a ticking time-bomb.
“What should we do, Tav?” used to mean—which awful choice do we make now? Who gets to live? Who dies next?
For the first time in a long time, you can answer without despairing.
“I have an idea. Come with me.” Impulsively, you drop the flower crown on the ground, and take his hand. It’s large and warm against yours.
He looks surprised, but doesn’t protest as you tug him towards the side of the tavern building, where fewer people are about. You hand the bottle back to him, and let go of his hand to rummage around in your satchel. With a flourish, you pull out the scroll of Dimension Door. You’ve earned this, all hundred gold pieces worth of it. No more scrimping and saving for the next fight.
Linking your arms, you look at Rugan and flash him a perfectly ordinary, non-crazed grin. “Hold onto me,” you say, and crack the seal, teleporting you both to the rooftop of the Elfsong.

sunday six!
thanks for the tag @four-white-trees :D poking @skysquid22 and @passthroughtime if you've got anything!
the last thing i wrote is in first draft territory and in desperate need of revision so i'm a bit self conscious, but i'll post the most presentable snippet from it. this is from the same fic as this post (my canon divergence fic with arakawa, sawashiro and ichiban). this one implies a bit more about Sawashiro's background that's discussed in IW but there are no major spoilers, so read at your own discretion, I suppose?
“Do you know for sure?”
“Totally abandoned by his parents, and left to grow up in a brothel. It’s not exactly a common story.”
“I suppose not.” Arakawa conceded. “How long have you known about the boy?”
Arakawa held his eyes, and Sawashiro’s tongue grew heavy in his mouth. He’d known too much, for too long. “…A while.”
Something passed in Arakawa’s gaze, something harsh. He wouldn’t be surprised if it was judgment. “I don’t need the exact day, Sawashiro, but when I ask when, I expect a better answer than that.”
He opened his mouth, feeling for better words. “Years. A short while after joining the family. When he was a younger boy.”
Arakawa holds the stare a moment longer, then sighs and puts his head in his hands, stubs out what little remains of this cigarette. “And now it’s a problem.”
His brows furrow. “Now it’s a problem.”

This isn’t going on ao3 until the whole fic is finished, but that’s going to take a thousand years and I’m pleased with this and want to show it to people. So here you all go! A very special first in Duke’s vigilante career <3
Duke is 15 here, Steph is 18, Cass is 19, and Tim is 17.
“DUKE!”
Steph pounded up the grand staircase before her voice had finished echoing through the entrance hall. “Duke!” she bellowed again as she reached the landing and paused, bouncing in place as she waited for her improvised Marco Polo to bear fruit. Bruce’s stupid mansion was too big to go tearing through the whole thing looking for Duke, but she was sorely tempted anyway. This couldn’t wait. It was just too good.
“Duke!” she yelled one more time, just to be sure. A door snapped open in the hall to her left. Steph darted over to the hallway entrance, but it was only Tim. He stuck his head out of a door halfway down the hall, just far enough to give Steph an exasperated glare.
“Where’s Duke?” she demanded before he had time to open his mouth. “Is he with you? Babs said he’d be here. I need to ambush him.”
Tim regarded her with suspicion. “Why?”
“Because!” Steph rocked on the balls of her feet, unable to contain her glee. “We’re doing creative writing in English class. And today we swapped pieces for peer review.”
Tim’s eyes widened. “He got a story?”
“He got a banger. Hall of Fame material.”
Tim lit up in delight. “Cass,” he called into the room, “Duke got his first story!”
“But where is he?” Steph insisted, even as Cass popped out from behind Tim so they stacked like cartoon characters.
“Training with B,” Tim answered, and Steph was gone.
She made it to the bottom of the grand staircase before Cass tackled her. She went down with a shriek, rolled to absorb the impact, and somehow ended up flat on her back with Cass straddling her.
“Thanks for not doing that on the stairs,” Steph wheezed.
Cass frowned at her, a little offended, which meant, Of course I wouldn’t do that on the stairs.
“I appreciate it,” Steph assured her. “I like having unbroken ribs.”
Tim slid down the banister and landed neatly beside them. “No starting without us,” he ordered.
Steph raised her hands in surrender. Cass booped her on the nose and pulled her to her feet.
“So how come you two are up here, anyway?” Steph asked as they set off at a frustratingly sedate pace. She turned to walk backwards in front of them so they’d all fit in the hallway that led to the study.
Tim shrugged. “Everyone needs Batman Bonding Time when they start out. We don’t want to get in the way.”
Cass snagged an arm around his waist to pull him close and smacked an aggressively wet kiss on his cheek, which meant, And I needed Timmy Bonding Time!
“Eww! Cass!” Tim shoved her away, but he was laughing, and Cass was smug as she let him go. Steph laughed too as she turned back around to swing into the study and bound over to the grandfather clock.
Steph didn’t run down the stairs to the Batcave, because those things were a goddamn menace and, as previously mentioned, she liked her bones best when they were intact. But she did jump the last few steps and race to the training mats, yelling, “Duke! Duke! Duke! Duke!” the whole time.
Duke and Bruce were sparring with bo staffs. They’d been at it for a while, judging by the state of their shirts. Duke turned to stare at Steph’s approach in shock, and Bruce reached out to tap him with the staff for his inattention. Duke realized what he was doing and lunged around to block at the last second—sloppy, but effective, and Bruce gave a grudging nod.
Steph grabbed Duke by the shoulders. “Duke. Drop everything. This is a very special occasion.”
Duke started to smile, but he knew her well enough by now that the smile was wary. “What’s up?”
“You’ll see,” she promised, and explained to Bruce, “I had English class today. Creative Writing.”
Bruce looked abruptly pained. “This isn’t going to be like the bubblegum one, is it? Because Duke and I have three more sets to get through just with the staff, and I’m not stopping for that kind of drivel.”
“Absolutely not, this one is quality. And it’s Duke’s first!” She swung around behind Duke and squished her face up next to his. “A boy’s first time is a precious thing, B,” she said piously. “We have to make it good for him.”
Duke’s skin was too dark to show a blush, but Steph could feel his cheek heating next to hers. “Now I know you’re not saying what it sounds like you’re saying,” he said, trying to sound threatening. “So what the hell are you talking about?” This was sufficiently adorable that Steph kissed him on the cheek, which he met with a deeply sardonic look.
“Language,” Bruce said automatically. Steph snorted and stuck her tongue out at him.
Bruce sighed deeply and looked to the stalactites in supplication, because he was a massive drama queen. By this point Cass and Tim had reached the mats and were watching the proceedings with matching smirks. Bruce shook his head in disgust. “Alright, alright, I know when I’m outnumbered.” He reached for Duke’s bo staff. “This better be good, though. Duke is doing well today, and you shouldn’t interrupt a good sparring session halfway through like this.”
Steph beamed at him. An honest compliment, unprompted, and no one was even bleeding out? He really was growing as a person! She glanced sidelong at Duke and found him trying very hard to look like he was too cool to be pleased at the praise. She giggled and kissed his cheek again.
Bruce shook his head and went to put away the staffs. Steph steered Duke toward the couches Bruce had finally installed down here after she’d mocked him one too many times for his sad man cave with its sad lack of real furniture. They were squashy, ugly things, hideously comfortable, and probably cost ten thousand dollars each. They’d only been bled on a little.
Steph pushed Duke down onto the center of one of the couches. Cass and Tim plopped down on either side of him, Tim with his legs on Duke’s lap, Cass with her head snuggled on his shoulder. Duke, as ever, tolerated this manhandling with equanimity, and only looked a little worried when Tim said solemnly, “We’re holding you down so you can’t escape.” If there were ever a prize for Most Chill Bat, Duke would win it hands down. Steph reflected, not for the first time, that she should really hurry up and start doing annual family award ceremonies. Damian would absolutely hate it. It would be worth it for that alone.
Bruce started to flee toward the stairs, but Steph intercepted him with an, “Absolutely not, Bruce, this is a solemn rite of passage for all Bats—all supers, even. You can’t skip out on this, what kind of a mentor would that make you?”
“One who would like to get some actual work done,” he grumbled, but it was perfunctory and they all knew it. Steph could and would badger him into staying. It was far more efficient to just give in now and save them all the time.
Brue sat on a squashy armchair next to the squashy couch and raised his eyebrows expectantly at Steph. She grinned at him, and turned that grin on the others as well with a theatrical sweep of her arm. “I have gathered you all here today,” she declared, “to celebrate a very special occasion. Now as we all know, there comes a time in every young crime-fighter’s life when they at last get the public recognition they deserve.”
“Whether they like it or not,” Tim muttered.
“Shut up, you love it. Although,” Steph conceded, “your first was not as cool as mine.”
“Yours was a disgrace,” Tim protested. “I don’t know why you even like it, it was awful.” Cass wrinkled her nose in agreement.
“Mine was a masterpiece and I have it framed, so there.”
“She does,” Tim told Duke. “She won’t let us take it down.”
“In back tunnel,” Cass said, pointing. “Bruce said, too awful to look at daily, can’t have up in the Cave. Steph said, fine, and put in his locker. Compromise: put in Jason’s favorite entrance.”
“I did not agree to this compromise,” Bruce interjected. This was a blatant lie, because if he had such a big problem with it he’d have left the thing up in his locker and suffered in stoic silence. Duke knew it, too, judging by the look he shared with Tim.
Steph giggled again. “Whatever you say, old man.” She slung her backpack off her shoulder and pulled out a yellow folder. “But today isn’t about you. And so, without further ado, I present to you—” Steph flipped open the folder and pulled out a stack of pages with a great rustling and flapping of paper—“A Guiding Light.”
“This is a long one, huh,” Bruce sighed.
Tim kicked him in the ankle. “Shut up and cherish your newest kid.”
“I’m not his kid,” Duke said immediately. Steph held out a hand and Duke high-fived her. Bruce made no answer to this, just sat there and looked uncomfortable.
“Alright!” Steph cleared her throat dramatically and struck a pose. “It was not,” she declaimed, “a dark and stormy night.”
“Promising,” Bruce said drily. Tim kicked him in the ankle again.
“It was dark,” Steph continued, gesturing grandly with her free hand, “and storming, but the sun shone on behind the clouds. Not that the boy crouched between the crumbling gargoyles on Stevens Street would have guessed it, if he hadn’t known in his very core that it had not yet crossed the horizon.
“The Signal had never needed fair skies to find the sun.”
“The what?” Duke asked faintly.
Steph cackled, unable to keep a straight face. “You heard me!”
Tim and Cass jostled him, laughing as well. “It’s your first fanfiction!” Tim crowed.
Cass patted him on the head. “Congratulations.”
“Found organically, in the wild,” Tim said. “That’s the rule, actually—you can’t go looking for the stories, they have to just come to you.”
“Well you can,” Steph corrected, “Babs and I do it all the time, it just doesn’t count for the game. And you can’t go looking for someone’s first.”
Cass nodded. “First is special.”
“Huh,” Duke said weakly. The flummoxed shock on his face was morphing quickly into mortification. He eyed Tim’s legs over his lap as if he were seriously considering making a break for it.
“This one is very special,” Steph assured him. “You got a great one for your first, you’ll see.”
“Lucky me.”
Cass giggled and poked Duke in the ribs. Tim ruffled his hair. This had no actual effect, with how short Duke kept his hair, but it’s the thought that counts. Bruce watched them with that soft little smile he got around his kids when he thought no one was looking at him. It was Steph’s favorite thing about Bruce, that little smile, and most of the reason she would trust him with just about anything. But that was a fact that she would take to her grave, because unlike some people she was not an absolute sap.
“Alright.” Duke squared his shoulders, bracing himself. “I’m ready. Hit me, Steph.”
Steph snapped a salute. “You got it, chief.”
“From the top,” Tim suggested. Cass nodded.
Steph shot off another salute, struck a dramatic pose, waggled her eyebrows at Duke, and began again.

Maybe someone will try cloning him at some point?
I'm sorry I'm confused hsgdjhf do you mean?? Xever??? Bcz ho boi I think changeling Karai would find the thing she hates almost as much as harming children
I'm not TOO upset about killing him off, just mildly sad it was via changeling Karai, who wouldn't even get in an epic sass off or dramatic fight in the process, she just bam he gone. No time for cool confrontations a g h

LOL. In the Buffy tie-in book I read ("Unnatural Selection"), Buffy had to come up with the cover story that she and Angel were married and had two daughters: Ginger and Joy. And she came up with those names because ginger (the spice) was right in front of her, and the brand of the dishwasher she owned was "Joy"?
But an AU--or better yet, a continuation of this--where they have daughters and actually name them that. Pfft.
Also, interestingly enough, in these tie-in books, Buffy dreams of having kids with Angel quite a few times (like in moments where she gets to see her perfect life).
Not that that's what this was, but it's still definitely interesting.
#bangel#this book is about faeries and changelings for anyone wondering and that's why#basically the faeries are targeting the married couples with children who work for this one guy and then kidnap their kids and replace them#with changelings?#so buffy calls this one lady--when she's beginning to figure this out--to get more info/see if this has happened to her and pretends her#husband works for the guy and that they have kids#and then angel shows up (to help buffy patrol essentially) when she's about to meet the woman to discuss more and becomes a part of the#charade#because in seeing them together of course the woman would assume he was the husband buffy told her she had#not there's anything wrong with the names ginger and/or joy of course! i actually love them. i just feel like if buffy and angel ever#actually had kids those aren't the names they'd choose. heck i feel like those aren't even the names buffy would choose for fake kids if#she'd really had a minute to think about it#well maybe joy#because i do agree with fans who think they'd probably choose names that mean things. i agree with calenlily that it would probably be#grace or something like that#or maybe shannon. which i've also seen in another fic. since it's gaelic and means 'wise' apparently#though points to buffy for coming up with 'ginger' and 'joy' on the spot and having them both be names that start with a 'j' sound#because that does seem like something a parent could choose to do and probably made her story more believable

Maybe these kinds of fics are rare in DCxDP, but I would love to see how it handles Danny and friends thrown/mixed into the world of the DC Black Label Batman, where Bruce is either so relentless in cleansing crime from Gotham's streets that almost everybody turns on him (The White Knight saga) or so angry and ruthlessly fucked up from his parents being murdered that no one wants to associate with him (The Imposter).

Miguel and different sex positions pt.1 eheheh cowgirl.
Miguel absolutely love when you ride him. The feeling you moving on top on him makes him lean his head back, mouth open, and his hands on your hips.
You were on top of him as you hover yourself over his erect cock. No matter how many times you took him it always had the same feeling. That almost overbearing feeling of him stretching you out, and molding you around his cock. You slowly started to push down letting him slide inside you. You let out a gasp as his tip pushed its way into your needy cunt. You hear Miguel hiss as he grips your waist tightly.
"Shit. Just like that, Mami." Miguel said.
You continue to push down as you feel Miguel fill you up. The feeling of him stretching you out to die for. You put your hand on his chest to help you. Finally sitting all the way down on his cock you let out a moan.
"..You okay, Cariño?" He asked in a airy breath.
You nod and look up at him with teary eyes. He was so fucking big. You start to move slowly bringing yourself up and down on his dick slowly. His nails penetrate your skin and you let out a moan from the pain.
"Faster. Go faster." He said throwing his head back.
His wish was your command. You bring yourself down on his cock faster. The feeling of his shaft sliding inside of you was euphoric.
"Miguel-" You hissed out his name.
He came forward latching onto one of your sensitive buds. The other hand massaged your other breast. You clench around him tight and he lets out a groan causing a shiver to go down your back. His mouth detaches from your breast and he lets out an almost pornographic moan.
"Wanna get your pregnant.." he babbled mindlessly.
Miguel absolutely loved the feeling of your body squeezing him. He let out a grin as you throw your head back. The sight of you on top of him was almost enough to make him cum. He was ready to fill you up with every drop of his seed.
"Mami, want me to get you pregnant? Get you all nice and swollen with my kid?" He asked
"Yes! Yes, Miguel please." You moaned
You feel that knot in your stomach. That one telling you that you were about to cum. Miguel was now in control of your movements helping you move up and down on his cock.
"Miggy, I'm about to come" You choke out.
"Come f'me, Amor" He purred.
That was all it took as you came undone on Miguel's dick. The feeling of you clenching around his cock sent Miguel over the edge. He threw his head back as you milk him of every drop of sperm he had. His nails digged farther into your waist as you keep your hand on his chest. He swears you're going to be the death of him.
