update on hermitgals precure au: i’ve decided to make the mascot kingdom the hermit kingdom and they protect the genesis block (?) which is the macguffin that facilitates communal creation and sharing of art and inspiring each other with their own creations in their peaceful hermit kingdom, which then ripples out to the human world.

the evil corporation (yes it’s a corporation) wants to steal the genesis block so they can control all the art output and mash it together like a soulless meat grinder for capitalist profit. pearl is a particularly creative person, the evil corporation viewed her as a big threat to their evil monopoly, so they straight up brainwashed her from birth. she still broke free because her adventurous and free spirit cannot be contained!

i’ve decided to make ren have a human form because the logistics nightmare of making the cures carry the mascots to safety every time they fight is… not good lmao. anyways he can be a human because he’s the king and the tiny crown of the dog gives him extra powers. he easily transforms back though. his main job is to run to safety with iskall and protect the genesis block. (eventually he lends the crown to cleo in a cleo-related arc and they’re both 🥺)

towards the boss fight, the corporation captures four cures and drains their vitality from them and keeps them captured/ otherwise frozen, and gem is the one who has to save them all and she laments about being so powerful that she’s the one who’s left behind 🥺 (but there is at least one mascot with her for moral support)

i want to make stress turn evil temporarily so everyone’s gonna be disheartened that their cheerful pink cure has succumbed to despair but they save her with the power of love and hugs.

the cures throw ren around like a stuffed doll and hold him up by the scruff of his neck. he’s just a guy. false keeps on forgetting she can’t punch ren in human form because he’ll transform back if he’s weakened.

Hermitgals but its a PRISM Corps au! Because I haven't stopped thinking about it

if you don't know, PRISM Corps is a magical girl universe created by ActuallyRea/Ginjaninjaowo. I drew Pearl as a prism magical girl a while ago for a daily pearl doodle, and later Gem as well, but now here's all of them!

These are still just sketches and rough ideas of what they'd look like because I'm bad at designing clothes, but I'm pretty happy with most of them :D

Notes about the gals and their weapons under the cut :3

I know that the girls change their hair color when they transform, but for the sake of keeping them more recognizable I did keep their hair colors the same as how I would usually draw them, plus sometimes some colorful streaks. Also their hair colors just happen to go pretty well with their color schemes anyways

Pearl - Weapon: Broom, has the ability to make anything it sweeps over disappear. Objects can be resummoned at a later time and will reappear once the prism is deactivated. She's usually part of the cleanup and damage control crew. Her Prism's name is Robbie!

Gem - Weapon: Still deciding on this one! Originally I put her weapon as twin swords but I'm reconsidering it. I also slightly changed her outfit design. Suggestions are very welcome for what her weapon should be, and feel free to be as creative as possible :D Her Prism's name is Mackenzie!

Stress - Weapon: Pandora's Box. A box that contains...something. We're not sure what it is, but it's some kind of spirit that is able to possess and take control of other people. There might even be multiple spirits. She can also trap other people in the box. Her Prism's name is Mochi!

Cleo - Weapon: Puppet Crossbeams, has the ability to control inanimate objects. Is also pretty decent at wacking people. I'm the least sure about Cleo's current design, I had a lot of trouble with it and would appreciate some suggestions and feedback because I am not a Cleo watcher haha. Her Prism's name is Stheno!

False - Weapon: Feather Blades. She can pluck the feathers off of her skirt to use as blades of any length. The amount of feathers she has is pretty decent and more than enough to get her through a standard fight, but it is limited. She'll have to wait for her prism to recharge again after using all of them. This is probably my favorite concept because it is dramatic as heck. I haven't decided on her Prism's name yet, but it'll probably be some kind of bird.

Storywise, False and Cleo joined the Corps around the same time, Stress some time after, and Pearl and Gem joined together later on. Out of this lineup, False is easily the most powerful, prism-wise and skill-wise, out of all the gals here. Maybe False gets to coach Pearl and Gem or something hehe

Oh! And this isn't all of them. A prism has gone rogue and there seems to be an independent magical girl in the city as well...

i heard the words hermitgals and precure and then did not think about anything else for like 4 hours straight. @riacte 's idea and au, except i got tunnel vision and didn't read any of their worldbuilding posts and this is entirely different from all their stuff...but please go see their hermitgal precure au cause it's much more interesting and developed than this!!! also i have never actually watched precure except some of smile precure many years ago. so. this is so deeply inaccurate to the show im so sorry. More explanation under cut

I don't know how but I ended up with a sky theme with these? Even though I think that's also the theme of the current precure season if i'm not mistaken. I almost called False Cure Wing before I remembered that little orange guy. Cure Dawn has a little sun badge, and her color scheme is meant sort of a purple to reddish-pink sunrise type gradient without being too obvious. Cure Horizon has a kind of outdoor adventure/explorer theme like Gem's cottagecore vibes. Cure Cloudy is..... cloudy lol. Her floaty hair is supposed to be a bit like Cleo's snake hair. Cure Feather is sort of based on False's whole eagle thing she's got going on. It sort of ended up ballet-looking though. And Cure Crescent is of course moon and space themed! Her gloves and boots are meant to be like a spacesuit, and her hair is kinda crescent moon shaped if you squint. Also I tried to add one sheer/sparkly element to unite the costumes, but really they're very different from each other... oh well

Hey, I'm working on a paper for one of my classes about the Hermitcraft server. It's specifically looking into the treatment of women vs men in fandom spaces.
