i like ur art. its great and interesting!! i really like your artstyle and i really like the way u draw hsy, yjh, and kdj. you captured them so well in terms of vibes/character. also i was wondering do u have any advice to improve on drawing anatomy/poses/faces?
wahh thank you so much...!! i feel like im still trying to figure them out in a lot of ways but i do really like ironing out my visual interpretations of them so im really happy to hear if people like what im coming up with
also anon you super activated the part of my brain that cant help but yap about art theory... i spent some time writing as many tips as i could think of. unfortunately i dont think i have the time currently to do a fully illustrated guide, but ill still try to include some visual examples:
[incoming wall of text lol]
ANATOMY:
to preface i think that like 100% of the time you should reference a real life photo for anatomy rather than other artwork or drawn references. the best way to learn the body is by… well, actually looking at the body! but also artwork is informed by a person's own artistic ability/stylization choices/sense of idealism, so while looking at art can help give you an idea on how to break down forms, i think you would be best served observing real life references. i labor on this point because i do think that having over relied on drawn reference material and avoiding photographic references on the basis of not being interested on realism hindered me as a largely self-taught artist as a kid, so i want to encourage live or photographic reference since anatomy is one of the foundations from which everything else is built on. that being the case, all of my doodles i'm doing for this are going to be for the sake of example rather than to strictly say how you should or should not be drawing something
Tumblr media
-> when you are doing a study of a photo, just try copying it as best as you can. pay close attention to the natural lines and shapes of the body -- the S-curve shape of the leg, the triangular shape of the forearm, the trapezoid shape of hips/thighs when they sit, and so on. note where the body folds or squishes or pulls; how mass will shift to accommodate a certain position. if a form is hard to visualize, focus on the negative space and carve that out, rather than strictly drawing the positive space.
Tumblr media
don't expect to get it perfect the first time. in fact, iterate on it multiple times to build understanding. try doing it to a timer of 15, then 10, then 5 minutes. doing this will force you to have to prioritize the most important shapes. you can help reinforce this by using a thicker brush or a brush with no pen pressure (no joke ms paint works great for this) to force you to be loose and not become preoccupied with details.
-> pinterest is a great resource for finding and compiling photo reference material
-> organic shapes are curved, so embracing/emphasizing that (particularly for the extremities) can help make your drawings look more natural or fluid
POSES: -> it all begins & ends with contrapposto… you've probably heard of the line of action, which is related. if you're offsetting the shoulders & hips, it: makes poses more natural, more dynamic, and helps the pose sort of "draw itself" -- the legs will follow the direction of the hips, and you can use the arms to reinforce the angles
-> context is key. don't ask: what pose should i draw? instead ask: what do i want this character to convey? what does happiness, anger, sadness, and so forth look on this particular character? how do they express that? consider these drawings: these are both ostensibly the same pose, but look at how changing just the shape of the spine recontextualizes it.
Tumblr media
for more on pose design i recommend watching Tracer & Pose Design 101 - The Animation of Overwatch by New Frame Plus (i promise this is a genuinely super informative video).
to expand on this, in general, all of the components of a piece (background, composition, pose, etc.) are best considered in conjunction rather than separately. it is difficult to choose a pose and then choose a background because they are missing the context that would make a piece cohesive. when you are planning a drawing, try to begin with your general concept/idea/prompt and then do several thumbnails -- small and quick doodles that should take no longer than 5 minutes each -- developing it: you may find that the pose and bg will naturally fall into place.
Tumblr media
-> silhouette: the degree to which you need to push this varies by style but generally speaking the pose needs to be readable; i.e. instantly recognizable. try to keep important elements of the gesture outside of the silhouette. for example, if the character is pointing, keep that arm out of the interior of the body. the same pose can be more or less readable or dynamic depending on where the character is pointed in relation to the viewer
-> exaggeration!! goes along with the previous point. push the pose as much as you can (and what makes sense for your style) to communicate your pose as clearly and as intensely as possible.
FACES: -> i highly recommend the app Handy Art Reference Tool by Belief Engine for all things related to drawing hands/heads/feet. its on both android and ios. it isn't free -- it costs around $3 -- but that is seriously such a small price to pay for the amount of utility you get out of it: the hands models are fully poseable (there's also pose presets), you can rotate the head models however you want, and there is 3-point customizable lighting. it is really helpful for getting those super tricky and hyperspecific head angles that you just can't find a real life reference for. that being said given that there's only a few different head model variants, bear in mind how differences in features can affect what exactly a face will look like in those angles.
-> i still recommend doing studies of real people. as with anything else, learning generalized proportions is important, even if you are going to later on bend or break this depending on style
-> as for my own approach... it kind of depends on the style i'm doing at that particular time. for my paintings (what id consider my main style) i approach a character with a few real-world features in mind and then apply them to the best of my ability. it usually will take a few iterations to land on an interpretation i really like as i try out different things. a lot of the face also gets developed during rendering rather than through my initial sketch too, as i adjust for lighting and correct proportions on the fly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(look how much this image changes between sketch and render lol)
if i were to recommend anything, i think it would be to nail down your most distinct features first -- the ones that will make your character's face recognizable, and could apply regardless of art style. in my case with kim dokja, i knew when i first started drawing him that i wanted to give him a longer face and down-turned eyes. when i decided to do the disco elysium inspired set, in which i was breaking out of my comfort zone by letting go of any idealizations focusing on conveying characterization/making them feel "real", i landed on some more specific traits (defined lower lids/perpetually tired eyes/eyebags(?) the crease there idk how to describe it) which i continue to try to evoke even if im drawing something much more cartoony
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(pictured are my first kdj -> disco elysium style -> my post de-style kdj)
as a side note, this very same process changed yjh much more dramatically
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(^ that first guy is mad someone else)
those handful of key features will be the thing that you can then take into a simpler style and simplify or exaggerate to whatever degree suits you. you can also play with shape theory (square = sturdy/solid, circle = natural/smooth/welcoming, triangle = energetic/dangerous). shape theory doesn't necessarily need to be so rigid -- you can combine shapes as you please to convey whatever vibe you're going for -- so please think of it as a tool that may help rather than a rigid law you must abide by.
Tumblr media
-> expressions: exaggerate them. thats kind of it!! make it big!!! you wanna be able to really feel those emotions. the principles of squash & stretch help here: think of how the muscles move when you, say, open the eyes or mouth really big. as one side of the face stretches open, the other side squashes to accommodate it
Tumblr media
even without changing the position of the jaw here, moving the nose and scrunching the eyes will sell the expression
Tumblr media
you can also play with squash/stretch to break proportions to sell a feeling more
since expressions are just, well, poses for the face, everything else for poses applies here (and facial expressions & pose should also be considered in tandem). while the term contrapposto itself just refers to the offset of the shoulders & hips, the similar principle of asymmetry also carries here as that will help make the expression a bit more dynamic.
and i think... that's it!! all i can think of at least. i hope it helps anon!!!

Hello, I really love your art!
I know you made this a while ago, but I was wondering if you had any lore/headcanons about the orv witch/witch hunter au you made
I do!!!! I had a lot of comments or interesting ideas in the tags, and some of them were really inspiring. Here is an long and disparate list of my headcanons for that AU:
So in this AU, magic only works if you have an object/animal (not recommended because difficult to control) as a magic catalyst. It doesn't have to be near the witch, but the source should exist. If it is destroyed, they can't use magic until they accumulate magic and choose another catalyst with a complicated and long ritual. Could take years. Most of the time, witches hide it or keep it with them, so it's often an object they really like.
After many trials, Yjh thought it was the book because he realised kdj loved to read and always had that book with him.
Too bad, it was all kdj's trap. The reason kdj chose yjh's medallion as his magic catalyst is because he knows yjh will never find out but also because he thinks yjh is invincible. To destroy that medallion, he would have to be beaten, and kdj can't conceive such a thing.
Hsy is also a witch, and ysa is the hunter that goes the most after her, but unlike joongdok, they became friends at some point and are actually collaborating a lot. When they meet, they either fight for fun or go eat crepes together. They also share intel.
As for joongdok, they fight for real every time they meet. But there also are common ennemies of both witches and hunters, like monsters, bad sorcerers or constellations (=patrons of magic here).
During a fight between yjh and a very strong constellation, yjh seems to have a hard time. Kdj is watching from afar but doesn't want to interfere because he didn't originally plan to fight that constellation now. At one point, the constellation attacks yjh and he's definitely going to hit him right on his chest (where the medallion is), so kdj HAS to come and defend yjh so his magic catalyst doesn't get destroyed. OF COURSE yjh is very confused and still has no idea it's because of the medallion so he's like "why are you saving me?". And OF COURSE kdj isn't going to spill the beans so he doesn't say anything and just smiles at yjh. In the end they fight the constellation together and kdj slips away after the fight.
After that yjh is even more relentless in hunting kdj but when he finds an object that might be his catalyst, he just takes it with him instead of destroying it (he still pins kdj with his sword and menacingly asks him if it's the right object but kdj never says).
They fight together against constellations and nebulas more and more.
Good things never last and during a BIG FIGHT against a nebula, yjh's medallion gets destroyed and kdj ends up powerless in the middle of the fight. Yjh notices it and put 2 and 2 together, but it's too late, the constellation is aiming for kdj and it's going to fast. With one last smile, kdj is hit, falls, and magically crumbles away, in front of yjh and all of kimcom.
BUT NO ONE KNOWS THAT HE'S BECOMING A CONSTELLATION HIMSELF HA HA HA. He indeed met all the criteria to become a patron of magic himself.
That's it, I haven't thought any further.

today's chapter! under a readmore because it got kinda long
dkos tells lhh to hit yjh in the back of the head. he'll help him after he does this. why?? because he wants to see it 🥺 lhh questions kdj's sanity and wonders if he is just a sadistic person.
then he starts coping.
thinking about it, kim dokja's actions were all calculated... he's always planning ahead... so if he told him to hit yjh in the back of the head there has to be a reason...
he goes and hits yjh in the back of the head. then immediately regrets it when yoo joonghyuk slowly turns his head and glares at him. he didn't even manage to actually hit him, as yjh had a self defense barrier up. lhh is kind of screwed. he asks dkos what to do now. and dkos' response? "wow. you actually did it. i didn't think you'd it." LMFAOO lhh belatedly realizes that while kdj is deliberate in his actions, that kind of goes out the window when it comes to yjh
anyway, lhh is panicking. he hit yoo joonghyuk. he's so panicked that an exclusive attribute activates to calm him down. he thinks it through. he's 'cheon inho' right now, so what would cheon inho do...
equipped with the special cheon inho mode (his words not mine) he smiles the best he can. and start bullshitting. yjh's expression shifts, but then he staight up tells lhh to stop acting and that he knows he's not cheon inho. the real cheon inho would have aimed for a better vital point. whatever. lhh says he can just be a fake cheon inho then. it's not important who he is in the end. yjh sits down and looks out a window, staring at the faint traces of the great hole left after everything that happened 45 days ago.
dkos chips in then. as expected, he didn't kill lhh. he made him hit yjh as a test??? dkos says it was important to know if he'd kill you or not. you never know if you'll have to hit him in the back of the head again.
lhh and yjh start talking. yjh actually calls him 'fake cheon inho' 😭 yjh starts by asking why he stopped him from taking the absolute throne. its influence was there, but it didn't work properly. lhh tells yjh that he can't take the throne or else he wouldn't be able to see a proper end. you're a regressor and you don't even know that?
ah. oops. shouldn't have said that. yjh gets pissed at that remark. but he's not killed. dkos remarks that yjh won't kill lhh, and it's true! yjh has judged that lhh is more useful alive than dead
yjh goes on, speaking about someone else who was able to stop him. han sooyoung. she had planted memories of other worldlines into his head...
lhh is curious. how did yjh feel as he saw orv?
then yjh asks lhh if he can also plant memories of the worldline in yjh's head. he doesn't have orv's story like hsy did, but he might be able to work out something with incite... is yjh curious about orv? should lhh really tell him what happened? what will happen to this regression then?
but yjh says he doesn't care. he then brings up anna croft. haven't heard from her in a while! the final round of the seventh scenario will be with her group. yjh says that he'll probably try to kill her when she sees her. along with those words, there were some strange stories that rose from his body. dkos notices those tattoos then and figures out what story it is. doesn't tell lhh (or us) though.
yjh tells lhh to block that story, by injecting him with the memories. happy memories are the only way to stop yjh... yjh doesn't care who lhh is. cheon inho or not, his job is to stick by yjh and stop him with happy memories whenever he's ordered to.
so. lee hakhyun has secured a spot by yjh's side. the 41st regression might not be so terrible? lhh is thrilled. dkos is even more thrilled! he tells lhh to give yjh the dirt-eating memory next
ignoring dkos, lhh checks his phone. oh, omniscient reader's viewpoint updated. he had.. forgotten about it.... god damn it lhh. oh well, better late than never. he can use this to see whats happened while he was out-
there were no chapters in the 45 days he'd been passed out...

thinking about the stories of the 999th regression turn
wanderer of the eternal horizon - lee jihye’s giant story that she gained after 40000 years of looking for a way to bring back everything she lost
heart sealing the sorrow - lee hyunsung’s giant story that he gained after trying to carry his promises through 40000 years
flame(s) of eternity - uriel’s giant story that she gained after chasing revenge for 40000 years I like how it has a similar name to yjh’s "hell of eternity"
delusional design - kim namwoon’s giant story that… started in the subway? In like the first scenario?? hey wait a sec, you ever think about how the other fucked up giant stories are created from an eternity of wandering while knw got his from coping with delusions since day 1. no wonder it breaks so easily
ones that remember the apocalypse - the giant story all four of them share as the only survivors of the 999th turn
(the rest are regular stories)
battlefield of a hero and flame - the story of yoo joonghyuk and uriel fighting back to back near the end of the 999th turn (some time after yjh went blind) kim dokja notes this is one of his favorite scenes of wos overall...
flame of annihilation - uriel’s story… I’m gonna guess this isn’t 999 specific?
forty-thousand-year-old crush - hey kim namwoon what the fuck (somehow this is the only reason we have a timeline for these guys...)
companion of desperate spirit - this is what uriel uses to snap knw out of his hsy-induced meltdown . and I NEED to know the backstory for this one. because uriel fucking hates knw, she literally says she’ll kill him right after she’s done with the secretive plotter, so what circumstances forced them to work together despite this…please orv I need to see this… (what if I write it…...)
*when I say she hates him I mean that she’s coping because what else can she do after 40k years of living only for revenge. obviously she cares about him despite this… she runs to his rescue right after jihye does. ah the living flame...

been thinking about asuka ren a normal healthy amount ever since she debuted in webtoon and now i realize tumblr is better for compiling all my thoughts on her. so here… are some thoughts, for sure!
first of all… we know so little about her :( the main things are basically: japanese mangaka, creator of peace land, and was present in the group regression in epilogue. mostly she serves as hsy’s foil throughout the peace land arc, and she briefly shows up during the enemy of the story scenario to support kimcom.
but there are a lot of small details that add up to her character, in my opinion… for example, her constellation sponsor is “master of the niten ichi-ryu,” who cannot be anyone but miyamoto musashi himself. this is kind of funny considering how she is unfortunately a wet sock for most of peace land arc except for that scene (…where she doesn’t even use a sword!). what’s even funnier, though, is that miyamoto apparently did ink paintings as well. sometimes i think singshong just gave asuka some random big-name japanese sponsor to cement her status as a leader among them, and sometimes i think about this coincidence. because… is it?! (incidentally, she is mentioned to have/use a katana, but it isn’t specified if she has two. tsk… what’s your dual blades stigma for if you’re not gonna use it, girl?) in addition, her physique and strength were both level 55 during peace land arc, which were pretty high when you compare it to michio’s mid-20 stats. a twitter user got the idea of her being from a family that runs a kendo or judo gym and was going to inherit the dojo someday before she declared she’d become a mangaka, and i haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since.
as for her personality… well, we’re told she’s a leader among the japanese incarnations, but… honestly, does she act like a leader to you…? from what we see of her in peace land, she can be cowardly, easily shaken or attacked, and she put the small people’s lives over her companions’… in short, she’s a little bit pathetic (fond). but then again, that was in peace land, so i guess you can’t blame a girl for being a little shaken up after being confronted with choosing between killing her friends or killing her creations. but we also see her argue with hsy a little over clichés and tropes, and we also see how she spoke out against yamamoto when he declared he’d kill the small people, so that adds up to her being decisive and true to her morals. (also, tangentially related, she calls michio by his first name without honorifics, which is as intimate as you can get. this is cute, personally, because in the ebook he mentions he was a college student before the scenarios, so he could be anywhere from 18-22+ years old, while asuka… is 31. that’s, like, her little brother.)
definitely the most interesting part about her is peace land and her relationship with it, though. because, of course, a creator must have a relationship with their creations! she must have resented her work at some point because of all the critique it got and how it ended up getting canceled so early in its serialization… i wonder how long ago was that before the events of orv, if peace land was her debut manga or her most recent work. if it was somewhere in the middle, then i want to know if she went back to making mainstream content after peace land’s failure just to earn money and if she resented that, too, or if she was prideful enough to try and make more unorthodox manga like it but kept getting shot down anyway. did she lose confidence in her craft… could she no longer find the same joy in creating no matter what she made…
then when tls123 apparently contacted her about it — how cruel must it have been to unknowingly have let someone borrow your setting, thinking your words may have finally reached someone, only to later find out the characters and setting you had put your heart into were turned into cannon fodder for your colleagues. to destroy your own work in order to move forward… what if she considered it for just a moment… after all, if anyone had the right to decide what happened to these people’s lives, it should be her, the one who made them in the first place. but after seeing them with her own eyes, in that panel where the small people are looking up at her, it must have really cemented her decision then. to them, she’s just another disaster here to kill them, but they don’t know she’s technically their god… (maybe that’s also partly why she seemed so agitated when questioning how hsy won over the people’s loyalty so quickly, because who is she to them?)… they don’t know she must have really loved them as she wrote their story. and even if they knew, maybe they would only resent her for bringing this torture upon them anyway… the guilt and resentment and frustration of a failed work but still, still that creator’s love and pride throughout it all. because after all, a writer truly can’t help but love what she has created…
i never really thought about asuka beyond a really stupid fic idea i had for her and hsy, but seeing her in webtoon following the ebook’s revisions really made me appreciate her character more. her feelings towards her work are so complex, even if we don’t see a lot of it, and even worse is that she forgets all about making peace land in the end. she doesn’t just become a character in a bigger story: her narrative has also completely escaped her hands now. but in a way, maybe she’d be happy to know they’re separate from her as she is separate from them, because that means they’re moving forward in their own world line… and not bound by such mortal restraints as the manga serialization being canceled.
man this got long, and this doesn’t even include all the delusions i have for asuka/michio and asuka/izumi. well then, my final message:

Spoilers for Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and The World After the Fall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's like everyone's hyung. Jaehwan crawled as a sopping wet mess so everyone else could be slightly less damp on their own journey
I just finished The World After the Fall and i have. some thoughts. just a few.. I came from ORV first though so it's mostly in relation to ORV rather than discussion of TWATF on its own
Tumblr media
At first I thought Jaehwan was really like Yoo Joonghyuk. I described him and his story like this
Tumblr media
But over time and as I reached the last arc I realized that he has a lot in common with Kim Dokja and Han Sooyoung as well. Kim Dokja and Jaehwan's mutual love for webnovels stems from SingShong's love for webnovels, and I liked that because you can see from reading their works that those authors really, really love webnovels and philosophy. Jaehwan has a lot of facets to him, and that was a really important plot point, but a common complaint I saw in reviews of TWATF was that more or less the only fleshed out character was Jaehwan. I kinda agree. Jaehwan has a lot of depth and there's a ton of introspection and philosophy in the second half of the novel, so he's a very intriguing character. But no one else made that big of an impact. Then in ORV, it seems like SS were able to split up some of those facets that make an intriguing protagonist and gave those traits to YHK. Jaehwan is like a one-man cast.
Related to his similarities with YHK. Between him and KDJ, they are both self sacrificial but while KDJ sacrifices himself for his companions, Jaehwan sacrifices himself. for himself.. And then between him and HSY, they would both doom the world for the sake of one person. But HSY dooms worldlines for KDJ's sake. and Jaehwan destroys and then rewrites the Tree of Imagery into existence for his own sake. Jaehwan and YJH both have lonely backs, but the difference between them is that none of Jaehwan's friends were ever able to catch up to him. He faced his [end] alone. I don't think he was ever able to escape the loneliness that has plagued him since the beginning. He made friends and they supported him and they tried their best to fight with him, to follow his example, to honor him in his absence, but in the end they were too weak to stand at his side, unable to even follow, and after they died his memory in the world faded away.
It makes me sad. I really did like the other characters, how they looked at Jaehwan and saw hope. He became 'the world' to so many people. He was loved. He was admired. He was respected. His friends gave their hearts to him but it wasn't enough to ever reach him. We didn't get all that much time to focus on other characters. Still, I thought they were interesting.
I liked Runald the best, his outburst at Yoo Surha over the happiness evaluation surprised me. As the person who understood Jaehwan the most, I wonder how he felt enduring all those years. He's presented as a simple minded boy but he's got quite a lot he doesn't talk about. Wonder who he learned that from.
I can't imagine a good outcome for Jaehwan if he somehow reenters the Tree of Imagery. What would he do? Everyone but Sirwen is dead. Would he fight the System again? The System that he destroyed and then brought back? Why do all that? If anything, he should talk to Sirwen and finally tell her that he killed her dad. Her looking for information on Mulack was pretty important but then it was never mentioned at the end.
Jaehwan was a really interesting character and I liked how often he was allowed to cry, without realizing it, as if the emotions spilled out before he could recognize them. His conversations with his [clothes] were interesting, how cocky some of them were, or proud, or quiet, or scared. They were all Jaehwan. They were all human.
I'm running out of things to say, but to wrap up. I didn't really enjoy the story. It's not the kind of story that I'm usually into. But I wanted to see where Jaehwan would go. Just to see him reach his [end], I read the whole thing. It was extremely depressing. I don't regret reading it because I learned more about the writers through it. Sometimes while cheering for Jaehwan I felt like I really related to KDJ. And the end. That was it? It was an ending that stayed true to the themes of the rest of the story. That's all I can say.

Random thoughts about the orv epilogue pt. 1/??? After finishing orv a few days ago I have so many thoughts circling around my head and I’m hoping by posting them I can help internalize the mass of emotions sitting in my chest because this novel has fucking destroyed me. First thing up on the chopping block: kdj scattering his soul and how it seems that hsy and yjh misinterpret it initially.
From the moment we see kdj get on the train, we know that above anything else, he wants to be with everyone and the only reason he’s becoming the oldest dream is to keep the universe working so that they can keep on living. He sends out the memories he thinks will be needed (and even then he isn’t able to give away all of the memories, he cherishes them too much to make it a 50/50 split). It’s so incredibly telling that even when he supposedly sent away all his memories of their time together, the very first thing kdj does after breaking down is to go watch their story, the one of his companions. And then immediately has to pull himself back out because the *longing* is so strong it literally manifests in a physical breakdown. He distracts himself by going back to the story he’s always loved, ways of survival, and spends his probability to make everyone as happy as he possibly can (notably yjh bc yeah they are the emotional core of this novel but i digress), even if it doesn’t matter, even if no one will remember it besides him, he does it anyways.
On the other side of things, kimcom is eternally torn up about this choice. Hsy and yjh want kdj back whole, while others seem to be okay with just having the part of kdj that remembers them, because it was the choice he made and they want to respect it. Here they understand that kdj becoming od was done for their sake, and they despise it. They decide to get him back because they cannot have kdj if he isn’t whole. However, when they finally manage to get there, to see kdj as od, they can’t get him back. The fourth wall says it’s because they were greedy, and that kdj knew they would come for him and scattered his soul to prevent them from ever finding him. And hsy and yjh *believe it.* Not only do they come home empty handed, they come home thinking that the person they did this all for never wanted them to do so in the first place. It’s reflected in the way that yjh says “Do you think that fool has become a little bit happier” after he and hsy fight at the museum. At first yjh saw it as another sacrifice kdj made on their behalf, but even after 2 years, he’s still questioning, still wondering if this isn’t what kdj wanted all along. It’s not enough to stop him from trying to get kdj back, but it’s enough to leave him questioning.
With hsy on the other hand, she comes to terms with that same idea very differently. She puts all thoughts of saving kdj to the side, because she can’t deal with the idea of trying and failing once more, it almost seems that to her, failing again would only solidify what the fourth wall said. But even more so it shows in her eventual plan to get kdj back. She wants to read him his story in the hopes that it will make him *want* to be with them, and thus come back to his original body.
Both reactions show that everyone is missing a fundamental portion to kdj’s motivations: the reason why he scattered his soul is because he wanted to be with them too much. The loss of his memories and the scattering of his soul was a natural effect of being od, but he makes the choice to scatter his soul so that he won’t have to deal with the agony of being alone for any longer. It’s also why hsy’s plan is destined to work. The epilogue to her story is the same one kdj has always truly wanted to see, but never allowed himself to imagine.

I'm finally finishing the 1863rd arc yayyyy
Ch 299
1863rd hsy will stay to lead them ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡)
Also the Fourth Wall is working so hard, trying to keep kdj’s panic attack at bay. He still can’t believe what happened… ;-;
Tumblr media
Unavoidable… I wonder was Gabriel trying to protect something or someone. A person who cares about the other angels… choosing the lesser of two evils seems like something they would do

I can’t help but adore the way he cares for Uriel… He wants to help her. She helped him so much and showed great care and love. Kim Dokja just wants to do the same for her awwwww
Jophiel staying is something I never expected. But Gabriel saying that kdj & yjh remind them of their own companionship with Uriel… Both of them need each other, I see…
Tumblr media
Ohhhh I’ve seen this quote before! Can’t believe it’s from this arc. No matter the choice, the end is inevitable… Whether you want it or not, the world keeps going ahhhhhhhhhhh Such a good quoteeeeee
Tumblr media
*cries* he wrote down the information they could useeeeeeee
And hsy unsure whether she could accept this… It’s no longer the world kdj knew. They aren’t his companions. Yoo Joonghyuk is no longer there. Yet, he still cares so much ;-;
Tumblr media
SHE GAVE HIM HER COATTTTTTTTTTT
Giving your coat to someone else is a love language
Tumblr media
Doksoo nation, we are winningggggggggg
This is so cute ahhhhhhh, what the fuck, Kim Dokja has no right to say something like that, this stupid rat *shakes my fist at him* So cuteeee ahhhhh
Tumblr media
Just the fact that you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist…. Awww man, these paragraphs make me feel things ;-;
Tumblr media
Hold on a minute, this is ominous as all heck! You can’t drop something like this and disappear! Every story has a beginning and will one day have some kind of end. Even if it’s left unfinished, this too, will be an ending. What kind of story can exist without these things?
Ch 300
Tumblr media
Because it was a choice only someone who loves the story with his whole heart could make. Because, even if no one could understand, there were things he wanted to protect. Things he couldn’t sacrifice for the end or for his own gain. Because there is love, and it may not be enough to change the way that story was supposed to end, but it was there. It was enough ;-;
Tumblr media
*crying noises*
Tumblr media
Oh you little bitch-
I have a feeling that Kim Dokja’s own belief for his story will play a role in this as well ahhhhh
Where-or when- was Kim Dokja thrown????
Ahh immediately meeting someone newTM and kdj just giving us crumbs to their identity. Such a kdj move
Lmaooo poor Kim Dokja, being embarrassed to say his modifier. Don’t worry, sweetie, your modifier is lovely
Tumblr media
Ah, yes. Finally – the infamous Squidja lmaooo
The 1863rd arc was lovely, despite all the p a i n. I will be sure to reread it in one go in the future. But for now, let’s see what orv has in store!

Hear me out, an ORV Strangers From Hell AU.
For all the people that don't know about Strangers From Hell, this K-drama was adapted from a webtoon and it is about a guy who after his army service moves to a run down apartment(he is broke). He meets the tenants of the building and guess what they are all cannibals. The head of the cannibal gang (who is also a dentist) wants to make our main character his greatest masterpiece. He succeeds.
TL;DR: It's kind of Hannibal except it's WAY better (trust me on this)
So KDJ moves to this run down building with Biyoo (personally I am in favor of Biyoo as his daughter). He meets the tenants but can't help but feel that something is going on behind those faux smiles.(with the exception of LHS. My guy can't fake a smile to save his life.) They want to kill him and eat him. But then they see things: how KDJ is worryingly thin, How much the kids love him, how he tries to look out for everyone in their own way. And they all start to get attached.
In this universe, he is still hunted down by reporters and is harrassed at his job. Somehow all those nosy reporters have not come for sometime and KDJ is often gifted meat from a lot of people. When asked they point out how thin he is and that protein helps to build up muscles. After KDJ is done with how people in his job treat him, he quits. He becomes HSY's editor (he may or may not know that). All the people that have ever hurt him cannot touch him here. Here he learns to relax and be loved and to love openly.
KimCom is happy to see KDJ happy and congratulates themselves on a job well done. After all, since KDJ is now an editor he works at home (or HSY's work place) and whenever he goes out someone will always make sure to be with him. If he is in their sight then he can't leave and do unnecessary things. And they are feeding him the people that have hurt him, with KDJ oblivious to it all..... Or is he? [KDJ smiles to himself. After all, someone has to ensure that the police do not suspect The Industrial Complex Apartments for the disappearance of the missing people, especially since all of them have a history with the tenant(s) of this place. What they don't know won't hurt them.]
Lee Jihye has never seen Kim Namwoon act like this. He calls the new tenant 'grasshopper ahjussi' and although he is happy to spend time with the ugly ahjussi (so is she but she'll rather eat dirt than admit that). When asked about his nickname, Kim Namwoon would pale and say that he is sworn to secrecy. Lee Jihye wonders if the ahjussi is hiding something underneath that rat-like smile.
You know how KimCom is like, two steps to the left away from being yanderes for KDJ? Well this is the AU in which they get to be! Good for them!
To all the people that have read this whole thing: Thank you very much for reading this rambling.

hi its me your stalker. I saw your post about lsk and how her sponsor relates to her meta narrative role, can you elaborate? thank you as always
Hi bestie it took me a sec to get back to you and this is kind of just a big text block of my feelings about this so feel free to ask a follow up if it doesn't make sense
Ok so part of what I was talking about was that where omniscient reader is Kim Dokja's story, his mother and the stories associated with her represent the parents/ancestors/family of ORV, the literary works that SS were building on in making their own novel. Samguk yusa in particular is one of the oldest extant korean literary works, like if you ever take a Korean literature history class or smthn that's where you start lmao. So like, in relation to Kim Dokja as a reader LSK represents the influence of the classics that follow a lot of like the unspoken rules of literature vs YJH/HSY representing webnovels that are like not necessarily good or time tested but have an arresting passion and appeal KDJ is swayed by. Then this is also important bc in particular the story of the mother bear LSK is represented by is one that is /about/ following the rules of a narrative and being rewarded for it in the end. The bear and the tiger want to become human, the king of heaven gives them instructions, the bear follows the rules, bear gets to be human, marries king of heaven, and births the first king of Korea. So then in relation to the narrative of ORV, LSK has always been this influence of narrative destiny/inevitability in face of reality... When we see KDJ giving up on the things he wants and dismissing his hopes and dreams as impossible, it's coming directly from the way LSK has influenced him in writing her own narratives about their lives. "The only way for you to be safe is if I take the fall," the consequences have to fall somewhere, there's no ideal world where mother and son live happily ever after w/ no consequence for killing the father, there's no world where both the bear who followed the will of heaven and the tiger who did not get to be human, there's no world where Kim Dokja can reshape the very fabric of the universe to suit his ideals and go home to eat pizza afterward. The niggling thought we all had in the back of our minds when the most ancient dream was "defeated"... That can't be it, can it? It can't just be over like that... How could it be just that easy, in the end? It doesn't make sense... << That's what LSK represents, the sense of narrative that demands happiness be earned, sacrifices be made, anything else is unrealistic, it's not how the world really works, who wants to read that?
This is the real final boss of omniscient reader's viewpoint: the escape from narrative. The entire epilogue is concerned with this question, what ending does this story deserve? Kdjco have to fight KDJ's sense of narrative destiny to tell him it doesn't matter to them what the most artful or narratively complete ending he can come up with is, just that they want to fucking see their friend again. It's the feeling at the end of any tragedy where the reader wonders if the hero could have been saved. It's also the counterpoint to the question between the classics and commercial webnovel literary cultures. Does it have to be artful and poetic? Can't they all just be happy, in the end? Between "the ending is too sad" and "the ending is too unrealistic," ORV prioritizes the desires of the characters and the readers who really connected to them by giving Kim Dokja the ending they wanted.
TLDR; So whereas LSK consistently sacrifices herself or gives up on trying to make things better, consistently trapping herself in certain roles, KDJ is able to recognize what the original narrative of TWSA would make a binary decision and take a third path. this both represents her influence on KDJ as a character and the influence of unspoken rules about what makes a story "good literature" on the narrative of ORV, but that ultimately you have to follow love/influence on or emotions of real people instead of rules that seem set in stone.

New items up for EA A watercolor clutter set. And an oven recipe for corndogs.
I know corndogs are already in the game - they came out with HSY. Our recipe is(should be) base game, and don't look so...square. It has custom components and two extra clutter items.
The box of dogs and a bottle of mustard. All the words are in simlish text made with the wonderful fonts at https://franzillasims.tumblr.com/. I love their work. I tried to make a font, some years back and ended up rage-quitting halfway through.
The watercolor set has a tablet, brush, paper towel(for blotting), a cup of clean water, and a paint case. The case has an open and closed version. The open version has clean and messy swatches. I think I put way too much detail on the brush. I don't think anyone will ever see it all unless they use a camera mod to zoom-in. Oh well.
The last post items are free, too. Assuming I posted everything correctly. Do you ever have the nagging feeling you are doing everything wrong and just blundering about?
Here's the link patreon.com/SwapmeetSimming Also, thank you SO much to the lovely person that reblogged my last post. That was really nice! I never know what to do in these cases. It's ridiculous to be shy to the point you can't even blog properly.

hi! i am curious to know if your TWH recolors would work for hairs from DLC that other creators have released as BGC? for instance, i dont have the high school years DLC, but a creator released the high school years hair as BGC, so i (technically?) have the hair from HSY. i hope that makes sense lol, thank you for the wonderful work yall put out!! <3
Good morning!
The way that our overrides work for the EA hairs, they would not work. When you override, you override on the pack hair so it would require you to have HSY for it to work.
Hope that helps!
