Lots of doodles lately... Anyway, here’s the Animal Crossing AU I’ve been thinking about literally since the beginning of this blog. Xander shows up to a tiny town in the middle of the woods and is proclaimed to be the mayor by Daniel and the maybe three other people there.
Feel free to suggest some animal types for the other NPCs because I never don’t want to talk about Animal Crossing.

Now, for something completely different – I’m gonna tell you my favourite villagers of (most) species for no particular reason, and you’re gonna learn all about my weird-ass taste in villagers! I’ll leave out species where I don’t really have a strong favourite.
Anteaters
MY MAN OLAF
He’s on my New Horizons island and he’s such an icon, I love him so much. As far as I can tell, the General Opinion of him is that people either absolutely love him, or absolutely hate his guts. I am very much in the former camp
Bears
I guess Grizzly, if only because he was in both my Let’s Go To The City and New Leaf towns. He’s an absolute dad and I will not elaborate on that any further.
I also have a soft spot for Beardo, as shown in this tweet I made a while ago:
Bulls
Coach!!! He’s weirdly cute to me. His little dot eyes... his thicc eyebrows... his 5-o-clock shadow... He’s like a baby and a middle-aged man simultaneously. I love him.
Cats
STINKY! The one cat that no-one seems to give a shit about except for me. My man wears underwear on his head! What’s not to like?
Chickens
IDK, I like Ken. He looks like he could kill me in a second, and I respect him for that
Cubs
MY MAN VLADIMIR!!! I guess he’s what you’d call one of my “dreamies”? Because I really want to have him on my New Horizons island at some point. I just love this grumpy little man. Bright pink fur, single buck tooth, angy eyebrow, plus cranky is one of my favourite personality types... We will meet one day, my strange little friend 😭
Ducks
I like Joey. He’s adorable in an extremely simplistic way
I also like Freckles because she was in my New Leaf town
We stan a completely lifeless stare 😌💕💕 Absolutely nothing going on behind those eyes
Elephants
I feel like my past self would eviscerate me if I didn’t say Dizzy for this one. He was my absolute favourite when I played Wild World as a kid, I loved this guy so much and then he randomly moved out and young me had their first experience of heartbreak 😔💔 But he came back to me in New Leaf so it’s all good (only after making a candlelit shrine to him in my basement, of course)
But anyway, he’s cute
I also like Paolo, just look at that face, that’s the face of a man that’s about to steal the last chip off of your plate without a hint of hesitation
Frogs
There are SO MANY WONDERFUL FROGS. I really like just about all of them. Here’s a run-down of just a handful of them
Raddle, everything about him screams “poisonous”, but I would still trust him to do a life-saving surgery on me
Ribbot is an obvious robotic legend, he’s just very cool
Tad is just A Frog and I like that
And I have a strong, inexplicable love for Wart Jr.
Gorillas
MY GIRL ROCKET!!!
She was the most iconic part of my New Leaf town, I never thought I’d get so attached to her when she first moved in but I love her so much
I trust her with my life
Hamsters
Clay, I love this weird little baby, one of my favourites in my New Horizons island. The inspiration for his design is pretty interesting too 👍
Mice
This is a hard one. I really like Rod (was in my New Leaf town), Broccolo (absolutely adorable), Candi (is on my New Horizons island), Limberg (cranky but cute little man with a five-o-clock shadow, love it), and Samson (Just A Mouse)... but today I want to talk about our cheesy lad Chadder
This is another one that I want on my New Horizons island at some point, I think he and Olaf would clash wonderfully. 😆 His simple little face... his bright green nose... his fancy tuxedo... the fact that he seems to be entirely made out of cheese... I love this guy so much. I just hope that Clay won’t take a bite out of him if he moves to my island 😔
Octopi
Octavian is just good. I don’t have any further explanation. I like him.
Ostriches
Sprocket is cool, just like all of the robotic villagers
Pigs
Kevin’s cute. I’m now realising that I seem to have a thing for villagers with little dot eyes
Maggie and Truffles fall into the same sort of category
Side note: I feel like Kevin and Maggie could be brother and sister or something, they look quite similar 🤔
Rabbits
SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!
That is all.
Rhinos
Spike, he’s another one that’s on my New Horizons island, he’s my cranky but soft-hearted grandpa and I love him dearly, that’s about it really
Sheep
This one’s a bit more of a deep cut, but I really like Woolio from the first game (and the various Japanese versions of it). He’s the coolest sheep you’ll ever see.
This dude would definitely be a smug villager if they brought him back (he was a jock originally)
Squirrels
I don’t really have a favourite squirrel, but I want to give a special shout-out to Ricky. He has a very unique, funny-looking face and I love that for him
Also, apparently his picture quote is “You gotta break a few shells to get the nut” and I have the maturity of a 5-year-old and so the mere utterance of the phrase “the nut” makes me titter like a schoolchild
And that’s about it, I guess. Just wanted to give some love to the more under-appreciated villagers, because those tend to be my favourites 🥰

Best Villagers from every species in Animal Crossing
Only my personal opinions here, nothing else. Might even change my mind in the future.
Aligator - I have to pick Gayle as my favorite alligator. While Drago is cool, Gayle just looks so nice and friendly.
Anteater - Pango has such a cool color scheme that I really like. She’s also got a peppy personality which I really enjoy.
Bear - Grizzly was one of my first villagers when I started playing New Horizon. He reminds me of a grandpa! A grumpy grandpa!
Bird - While at first I was kinda unnerved by his white eyes I soon started to really like him! I like his pink beak and feet.
Bull - How can I not love Rodeo? He looks like an edgelord but he’s actually just a lazy villager. I would trust this dude with my LIFE.
Cat - While yes, Raymond is nice, Kabuki is awesome. He just has such a cool and unique look.
Chicken - Ken is kinda cute! He’s got his dark color scheme but then there’s the pink dots on his cheeks that makes it look like he’s blushing!
Cow - While the cows are not the most interesting looking villagers I do like Patty. She’s got this calm and kind look to her.
Cub - Call me basic but I love Stitches. He’s the most unique looking bear and I love the concept of him being a stuffed animal.
Deer - Oh dear, I’m gonna bet a few comments on this one... I pick Bruce. He just looks cool, ok? And I have a weakness for cranky villagers.
Dog - Lucky! My poor, tragic good boy! He’s either an undead or he’s simply covered in bandages because he’s gotten hurt. Either way, he’s unique.
Duck - Ketchup is cute and I like her orange cheeks, they are what really makes her whole look come together for me. It also looks like she’s wearing boots.
Eagle - Avery has these really cool patterns on his feathers and I like his more discrete color scheme.
Elephant - I like Tucker because he’s the most unique amongst the elephants as he is the only mammoth. Plus I like his caveman theme.
Frog - Raddle is hands down one of my favorite villagers. I like how he looks and his doctor theme. Would legit scream if I got him as a villager.
Goat - Billy was one of my two first villagers and he grew on me, ok? He doesn’t look bad and his personality is great.
Gorilla - Had to choose Boone, just had to. He’s very unique looking and just looks great overall. Cool dude.
Hamster - EASY CHOICE. Marlo is so fucking cool and one of my favorite villagers. Another one where I would scream if he joined my island.
Hippo - Rocko looks like the kind of character that would start out as a bully but would later apologize for being mean and become your friend. I love it.
Horse - Papi! He looks so polite! He says ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ when ordering at a restaurant. A good boy, 10/10.
Kangaroo - It’d have to be Kitt. She looks like a tired mom trying her best and she gives me the impression that she’d give the best hugs.
Koala - You know I had to go with my boy Eugene. I mean, look at him! Such a cool dude. I want to have what he has.
Lion - Look at this dude. Such a bastard gremlin man. He looks like he will steal my credit card information and commit fraud. Lionel is so funny.
Monkey - While she does look a little scary at first glance, I actually like Tammi’s design. Looks like she’d give you great advice.
Mouse - While only recently revealed, I really like Petri! I like that she’s got a scientist theme and her different colored ears are a nice touch!
Octopus - Octavian constantly looks like he’s pouting and it’s really charming. I like that he’s really interested in space, it’s such a neat detail to his personality.
Ostrich - Sprocket looks cool! Him being a robot is a cool idea (I like all robot villagers) and his color scheme is pretty neat!
Penguin - Now Tex looks like someone I’d want to be friends with. Seems super chill and nice, the perfect dude just to hang out with.
Pig - Agnes looks really good. I love that she’s wearing pastel colors since it goes so well with her black and white fur.
Rabbit - I was so close to choosing Coco but Ruby has recently stolen my heart. She’s not only cute but I like her personality and interest in the moon.
Rhino - Azalea has a nice color scheme and I like the detail of her horn being the center of the flower pattern on her nose.
Sheep - Normally I am not a fan of clowns but I really like Pietro! He’s a fun character and I would genuinely like to have him as a villager.
Squirrel - There are some really good squirrel villagers but I like Marshall the most. He just looks like someone I’d like to befriend if I were in high school.
Tiger - Bangle was one of the first villagers I encountered in New Horizon and she’s gained a special spot in my heart.
Wolf - BEST FOR LAST BECAUSE MY FAVORITE VILLAGER IS DOBIE! I looked at this dude and instantly knew I’d die for him. He’s my grandpa now. I’d listen to him tell tales of his youth and I would love to go fishing with him or tending to his garden. I want to hug him so bad. Dobie is a king and if he arrived on my island I’d start to cry.

My Favorite ACNH Villagers by Species
Hey all. I recently was gifted the new Animal Crossing game and have been playing it like mad. I decided to judge all the characters in the game and choose my favorites.
This list is extremely opinion-based, reflecting only my personal tastes. Also, I’m very picky. You’ve been warned.
As a final note, the list may be subject to change as I play the game and meet villagers and experience new stuff. Thus, this is a snapshot of my current impressions.
Alligator: Drago
Standing out among all the other gators, Drago’s appearance as a mythical beast plus a laid-back attitude wins my affection.
Anteater: Anabelle
Anteaters are cool creatures, but pangolins, which Anabelle is based off of, are even COOLER. Her cheerful peppy personality is also a plus.
Bear: Klaus
The designs for all the bears, for some odd reason, seem to universally repel me, except for Klaus, who somewhat intrigues me. I’d never have him in my village, but I appreciate the distinctive design.
Bird: Piper
Finding a Bird that I like is surprisingly difficult. Sparro’s design is nice, but he’s a Jock, which is kind of a killjoy for me. Piper just seems like a nice standard bird.
Bull: Rodeo
While the bright-blue Bull Stu is also a very pleasing design, Rodeo has to be the winner here. His terrifying appearance is at odds with his relaxed personality.
Cat: Raymond
Yes, he’s the super-popular among the popular; the truth is, I love him too. He’s a very striking character.
Chicken: Ken
While Becky and Egbert are also nice-looking chickens, Ken must win for his beautiful dark coloration and the fact he’s a ninja chicken.
Cub: Maple
Judy is immensely popular, due to her beautiful gradient coat and her intensely sparkling eyes, but I’m not sure she’s won me over. I think I prefer the plain, ordinary-colored, cute little Maple. Stitches is another popular Cub, but the stitch-eyes unnerve me terribly.
Deer: Erik
There are so many Deer characters I love! Erik, however, is the sweetest for me.
Dog: Shep
Most of the Dog characters don’t do much for me, just being rather ordinary dog designs. I’m not much of a dog person, anyway. Shep has that cool sheepdog fringe, though, and seems like a pretty cool dude.
Duck: Molly
I’m repelled by all the Duck designs except for Molly. They really went a little nuts with the weird faces for the duck characters, y’know? The popular Ketchup was not selected because I don’t usually like food-based creatures.
Eagle: Amelia
There are a ton of cool Eagle characters! I basically love them all, but I need to pick Amelia because she’s based on the fabulous Caracara.
Elephant: Cyd
Tia is a very popular Elephant, for her adorable design based on a teapot. I admit she’s very cute. But Cyd is … I’m not sure what Cyd is. He’s really weird. I can’t help but be drawn to him. LOOKIT THOSE EYES MAN.
Frog: Jeremiah
The frogs look kind of bad to me, overall. Their gigantic bulbous heads unnerve me. I know the art is a chibi-style, of course, but the heads of the frogs seem oversized even for chibi. Maybe I’m crazy. I dunno, I just don’t care for them much. Ribbot is a popular frog, and I kinda dig the uniqueness of the robot concept, but he’s a Jock, so ehhh, pass. I chose Jeremiah simply for his appealing colors and his name.
Goat: Kidd
I love goats in real life, and I thought I’d like more AC goats, but I don’t really. Sherb is a very popular goat right now, and while he’s cute and all, Kidd seems the coolest to me. He’s purple with nice hair and a well-contrasting horn color.
Gorilla: Boone
I do not like monkey and ape characters. I never have. So I’m very biased here. Boone seems the best of the Gorilla bunch, though, with his bright, eye-catching baboon markings and almost dignified presense. I wouldn’t have him on my island, but he’s the most tolerable.
Hamster: NOPE
There’s something about all the hamsters that troubles me greatly. I could never have any on my island.
Hippo: Bertha
I think it’s hard to make a stylized Hippo character that isn’t at least kinda ugly. They have oddly-shaped honkin’ faces, and it’s awkward. But Bertha is a pretty sweet hippo gal.
Horse: Victoria
There are a lot of horses in the game, including a Zebra, a sparkling Unicorn, a creepy dark horse, and a princely Colton; but I’m choosing Victoria soley for the racehorse motif. This may change over time, but for now I find it charming.
Kangaroo: Walt
While they experimented with a number of eye-catching designs for the Kangaroos, Walt’s understated slate blues and intense face wins me over. Also, he has a cool scar and is a cranky boy.
Koala: Yuka
The enormous noses and widely-spaced eyes of the Koala characters make it difficult to make them cute, but Yuka seems pretty sweet.
Lion: Leopold
I definitely do not care for any of the Lion characters except for Leopold. Leo is a magnificent, regal-looking fellow I would want to have a cup of tea with.
Monkey: Don’t like any of ‘em
I mentioned previously my bias against ape and monkey characters. I can’t possibly choose a favorite from them.
Mouse: Chadder
As with the Hamster characters, I also do not like the Mouse characters. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with the body design, but … hm. Most of the faces for them are unpleasant. Chadder’s face is actually quite neat, though, and I like his little suit. The cheese motif is kinda cute, too.
Octopus: Marina
I love the idea of having an Octopus villager. Octopi are awesome. It will take me time to adjust to the mouth they went with here, though. I think I would have preferred a beak, which is what actual octopi have.
Ostrich: Flora & Julia
I adore almost all of the Ostrich characters. I would be thrilled with any of them. (Except for Queenie. Yuck.)
Penguin: Hopper
Penguins are sweet birds, adored by many, and rightfully so. Hopper is definitely king of the bunch, though–based off the crested penguin, the eye-catching, cranky little fellow will waddle his way into your heart.
Pig: Boris
I’m not normally a fan of pig characters. But there’s something about Boris! What presense he has! What magnificent fangs! What lovely colors and impressive attitude!
Rabbit: NOPE
They sure went all-out on trying out a wide variety of wild faces on these rabbits. I honestly hate ‘em all. Mira comes closest to being OK, but no.
Rhino: Merengue
I previously noted I don’t really care for food-based characters. So I feel quite mixed about Merengue. Animals that are also food disturb me. But her design is admittedly well-done and very cute. She won’t be on my island, but I understand why people like her so much. She’s certainly the most interesting Rhino character.
Sheep: Dom
OK. I know I said how much I dislike Jock personalities. (The reason is simply because it gets tiring to hear them talk about nothing else but working out.) But Dom gets a pass. He’s the only one I will tolerate a Jock personality for. His character design is screamingly adorable and pleasant to look at, and the contrast between a tiny, fluffy cute little sheep wanting to get crunk is hilarious.
Squirrel: Marshal
There are several cute Squirrel characters, including the very lovely Poppy and the skunklike Tasha, but the highly-popular Marshal is popular for a reason. His sweet little grumpy face and simple but effective colors are wonderful.
Tiger: Rolf
There’s something rather dull in the Tiger designs. I don’t know what it is, exactly. Rolf seems to have some attitude and toughness about him, so I chose him, and white tigers are pretty. But overall, the Tigers underwhelm me. This is surprising since I am a big cat fan. I dunno … I think it’s the snout in the big cat design I don’t like. It looks weird.
Wolf: Skye & Kyle
The wolves look really nice in AC, and I like a surprising number of them. I could not settle on a single one, so I chose both Skye for her gorgeous coloration and cute eyes and Kyle for his pretty Wild Dog colors.

YALL I AM TORN
I wanted a variety of villagers in NH. I love the wolves, the horses, the cats, the anteaters--
BUT THE GAME WANTS ME TO HAVE BIRDS.
My town started with Pierce (an eagle), and the second villager I invited to my town was Celia (also an eagle). The 6th villager I invited was Cranston (an “ostrich”)
I just ran into Avery the eagle..... he.... shares my birthday.
I didn’t want Bird Island, but I feel obligated. This is fate.

this is off topic but what are your villagers on animal crossing! I love hearing about them and I saw that you played :D
Alskwksksk not off topic! AC is always on topic for me!
My villagers are Phil (ostrich). Agnes (pig) Punchy (cat) Merry (cat) Kitty (cat) Eugene (koala) Bubbles (Hippo) Pango (anteater) Julia (peacock) Lolly (cat)
I don't like Eugene or Bubbles and I want them to go. Eugene I invited cuz I thought he was cool but he does not vibe. And Bubbles was a forced fill in. Can't stand them.
I used to have Biff (hippo) but he just moved out for Lolly. He was a starter villager.
I also had Kidd (goat) but he was a forced one and I kicked him out for Kitty.
Zucker was a forced one but left shortly after move in and Punchy took his house.b
And finally I had Celia (eagle) and she moved out for Merry yesterday.

Aside from the obvious Quetzal, what are some villagers last seen in the original (e+ exclusive villagers included) that you would like to see come back in the series?
Oh man I haven’t looked at the list in forever! EXCUSE TO LOOK AT ANIMAL CROSSING ANIMALS! TIME TO SEE WHO OF MY FAVORITES STILL AINT BACK YET.
Alligator: Liz. There’s only two other female alligators we need more! Sure she’s also pink but she’s different enough from Gayle that people shouldn’t get mixed up. (But come on, between the squirrel name shenanigans I doubt getting people mixed up is a real concern they have...)
Anteater: Lulu the islander. I’m a big fan of purple and yellow together. And she just looks so sweet it melts me.
NOSEGAY especially! Just change her name if that’s a problem, Nintendo. She’s so pretty!!!
Also Zoe. I think those are the only ones that haven’t came back. Just bring back all of the anteaters plz.
Bird: Ace! Flash! Blue birds! Yay!
Joe! Madame Rosa! Purple birds! YAY!
Otis. I had him in a town in Population Growing once. I miss him.
Twirp. I just liked his design when I saw it in the guide as a kid. (I shipped him with Midge.)
Bull/Cow: Chuck and Oxford. Seriously there’s so few Bulls why get rid of what little we have? Verdun too.
BELLE IS THE SUPERIOR BLACK AND WHITE COW. Fite me, Tipper fans. Q('.'Q)
Carrot! Give us the carrot cow to go with our tomato duck.
Petunia! Pretty purple cow~ basically all the cows plz.
Cat: Pierre, please. Everyone else gets nightmare clown sheep I demand my mime cat. And Meow just because.
Chickens: Leigh. If its fears of looking insensitive since she’s got a native american theme... remove the war paint and head band. :\ Its not hard guys.
Rhoda, too. she was pretty.
Cub: Cupcake! Cute lil pink teddy!
Dog: Bow. See Meow. Just because.
Megumi. PINK DOGGO.
Eagel: There’s only one. Y’ALL KNOW WHO I’M TALKING ABOUT. BRING MAH BABY BACK TO MEEEEE. Take off the war paint if it’s a problem. THIS AINT HARD.
Elephant: Elina. She was soooo pretty. Again if markings are a problem in her design, get rid of the bindi. :| She’s the only elephant I think.
Frog: Emerald and Sunny. Just because they’re kinda plain and just green frogs doesn’t mean they can’t be loved! SUNNY IS SO CUTE.
Goat: (I almost typed Groot instead of goat wtf) Old man Iggy and Old man Sven! Blue goats! BLUE GOATS.
Gorilla: Jane. Why take away one of our few lady gorillas?
Kangaroo: Koharu. I really like her face design.
Marcy. Her hood is cuuuuute on her baby!!
Valise is so elegant. Besides Carrie, she’s my favorite kangaroo!
Koala: Faith. She was my first villager islander ever and I always really liked her!
Huggy is cute. She deserves hugs. Its in her name.
Lion: Aziz. I need my blue maned lion back!
Jubei looks like he could be a pretty cool lion too.
(Also on the topic of lions, give us some lady lions! You gave us Boy Kangaroos finally, I WANT LION EQUALITY.)
Mouse: Candi, Carmen, and Flossie. THEY CUTE. (I would have had Penny on this list but... that Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing story kinda made me scared of her...)
Ostrich: Nindori. Coco needs a spooky eyed friend!
Rio is literally my favorite Ostrich WHY HAS SHE NOT COME BACK? SHE LOOKS SO NICE.
Pig: Hambo was cool looking. I liked his headband! Pigleg had and awesome name and an awesome pirate look.
SUE E. WAS PRETTY. GIMME BACK PURPLE PIG.
Rhino: Patricia is a yellow rhino with horns that look like watermelon slices. GIMME NAO.
Petunia the rhino is cute too!
Tiara had a unique look. One of the last times I played Population Growing I met her in my town and I dunno I just really like her look.
Sheep: *slams hands on table* WHERE. IS. WOOLIO. NINTENDO? WHERE HAVE YOU HID EPIC COOL SHEEP???
Squirrel: Kit. Looks like. Conker. That tickles me. I want him in my towns. I swear I will not make him say inappropriate things. I don’t do that in my games.
Wolf: Tarou is purple and cute and I love him.

Read Our Testimonials!!
I use this whole series in my Art Class to Elementary children. They love this extra activity. It builds their confidence that they can draw identifiable things. They even take multiple instructions and create a whole picture.
These books on how to draw are very easy for kids and beginning artists to follow.
This is a fun drawing guide for kids (and adults, too) that shows, step-by-step, how to make simple, stylized outline drawings of 101 animals, everything from armadillos to zebras. It has kept the preschooler and teenager in our household entertained for hours — and it’s the first place I look if I want to figure out how to make a simple line drawing of a horse or panda bear.
This is an excellent book for the beginning artist or any artist wanting to improve their skills. The animal anatomy is superb. The cost of the book is also a plus. I got a lot more than I paid for, especially with the bonus books!
This is a really exceptional fundamental book which includes the whole range of animals in a really simple and easy to comprehend format.
“I’ve been looking for a way to get my kids interested in drawing, I ordered the books (200 Animals, Farm Animals and Forest Animals) and pretended like I bought them for myself, my 6 year old son saw me drawing and asked what I was doing “oh, just learning to draw a Shark” he called up his older brother and they asked me if they could try, “sure” they took the book and spent hours drawing that day.”
“…… this book can be the beginning of a great relationship between your child and his pencil doodles. “
” My 6yr old loves to draw but wanted lessons. This was the next best thing, easy to follow steps and now she is happy to draw. There are more animals then I have seen in other how to draw books. “
