saw somebody tweet “i would ship ronance if vickie didnt exist” and like, my friend my buddy my respected comrade. she pretty much doesn’t. Right now she is the equivalent of one of those signs in a mall saying like SEPHORA COMING SOON WATCH THIS SPACE except instead of “sephora” it’s “love interest”.

on one hand i think it should be mostly games with Actual intentional lgbt rep and themes being tagged as lgbt because tagging a bunch of random games as that makes it harder for people wanting representation to find what they're looking for. and ive also seen a lot of people who dont know how steam tags work spreading misinformation or getting their hopes up for nothing because of people tagging random games as lgbt . but on the other hand i think every new sonic game that comes out being tagged as lgbt on steam is hilarious . sonic lgbt icon forever

i think some of you need to sit down and interrogate why you dislike sabina so much because from where i’m sitting a lot of it is just thinly veiled misogyny. you don’t have to ship her with alex and you don’t have to like her but i’m so tired of people treating her as nothing more than an obstacle to their ship of choice and then trying to shift the blame onto horowitz for writing her poorly when there are literally dozens of male side characters who we know nothing about that get more fandom attention than sabina does. she’s not some evil irredeemable wench for struggling to support alex after the events of eagle strike. she’s a fifteen year old girl whose entire life was upended and has to watch someone she cares about be blackmailed into putting himself in danger again and again. if you can forgive yassen for sending alex to scorpia or k-unit for treating him like shit in brecon beacons, why can’t you forgive sabina for pulling away and trying to live a normal life. you can find her annoying or boring or pointless as a character, but alex very clearly cares about her. acting like he doesn’t says more about your attitudes towards female characters than it does horowitz’s lol

Bitches will come into fandom spaces and be sooo pressed when normal fandom shit happens. Yes we're shipping those two characters who had literally no screen time together. No we don't care if it doesn't make sense to YOUR personal interpretation of those characters. Fuck off if you don't like it.

nothing worse than a character you liked being really popular in the fandom but in the wrong way . if no one liked them then to see good posts all you'd have to do is go into a tag or something but if there is a thriving community of people who ship him with a guy you hate it gets several times harder to find posts you agree with

unrelated to BD but god I hate how ppl think shipping is synonymous with “I want/expect this to be canon”
Like if I say I ship something and someone responds like “oh silly you that will never be canon” like cool i dont care? I don’t ship things cause I want them to be canon. I literally just ship for fun cause I enjoy those characters’ dynamics. Hell sometimes I prefer canon staying the way it is and consider shipping as more of a fun AU thing.

its honestly crazy to me how so many people are obsessed with movie robotnik but wont touch any other version of eggman with a 10 foot pole. or even any other sonic character who isnt agent stone. and no hate to agent stone i love him too but i dont understand why so many people watch the sonic movies and come out with the only sonic related thing they care about being stobotnik and not even wanting to talk about anything else that happened in the movie

Yknow what no. I’ll say it louder. Sometimes we should understand that we hate a ship because it’s weird in our specific interpretation of characters.
But if someone ships it and has a different interpretation of the characters, then whether that’s morally okay on how accurate or inaccurate their interpretation is.
If characters are clear cut canonically related/have an age gap, then I don’t think you can just say “well this is an au where they aren’t”.
If the characters are not technically this but its implied in the story and makes so much more sense if they are, then I think the crime committed is how the author completely mischaracterises the characters in order to force a romance.
And you can hate weird interpretations of characters for the sake of shipping but call it as it is. It’s not doing anyone favours for confusing the act of “promoting abusive dynamics in a positive light” and “writing characters out of character” and “writing characters different to popular fan interpretation”.
And don’t tag this post as pro ship or anti or whatever in the idea that this is to support either, because I really don’t like those labels. Imo I think those labels only serve to simplify a situation that needs a lot more nuance to understand. And it feels icky to say that something as serious as various abusive dynamics is actually complicated, but in fandoms where characters ages are weird or ages at different rates or where sometimes there’s a official spin off of the og content where they kept the characters but made them all the same age and completely overhauled their dynamics; the maths gets a little more complicated. There are some icky people out there but that doesn’t mean you can just blindly go into things without properly thinking about it first.

No hate on your opinions just letting you know that I think by tagging posts anti steddie they're still showing up in the steddie tag? I was in there and found one of your posts and since you censor it in the main post I gather you don't want to be posting in the steddie and/or steve tags. Maybe use something like st3ddie?
(Universally across tumblr we use one tagging system that would be #anti whatever, using multiple censored versions of a ship or name doesn't help. If someone follows me and likes st*ddie in conjunction with ronance and they have the anti tag blocked-like they should-than me tagging st@ddie or st&ddie or whatever will risk them seeing the anti stuff)
All this to say yes that's a flaw in the matrix of tumblr, but there is ways to combat that by using tumblr tag blocking system or filtered content blocking system. Where you block 1 universally used tag to negate seeing the posts.
Thank you for your consideration anon and hope this doesn't come off as bitchy, it just is what it is. If someone doesn't have the proper tags blocked it's on them. If they know about the flaw in tumblr matrix and don't take action it's on them.
All in all things are tagged anti and blocked tags exist. Back to the regularly scheduled ronance love
