since getting really into that kinda lame goth boy singer wicca phase springs eternal ive discovered a phenomenon that only seems to happen with this one dude’s music. where his lyrics are pretty unimaginative like 6 times out of 10, and because the sorta droning singing he does at all times makes it hard to understand what hes saying sometimes, i’ll think a lyric is one thing for like. many many listens. and then look it up and immediately be disappointed.
the wicca phase in my head is way funnier and more charming than the Actually Existing Wicca Phase
for instance:
(i wanted to put like six more of those polls as a joke, but it doesnt let me)
and ive never run into this as consistently as i do with this one lil white boy with a hard to understand cadence and admittedly amazing beats. because like. i much prefer the version of this weird conceptual album about traversing the line between two worlds when hes walking in the shadow of The Gnome. but hes not. theres absolutely ZERO gnomes.
another example; i mistook the line “always in the back with GBC alone” as “always in the back with GBC and Lowell” and personally i think the albums better with Lowell, the friend whos cool enough to hang with but not cool enough to be in The Clique. give lowell back you son of a bitch.
and like, usually, when im listening to other musicians whose voices i have trouble understanding sometimes (smino, the tiny, early andre3000, shaggy, etc), the line in my head isnt funny or interesting it’s just wrong, and when i fix that misunderstanding im met with an ‘ohhhhhhh that makes so much more sennnnnse” feeling. but with wicca phase every time the actual line is less charming or less poetic, and im immediately disappointed in the lil goth boy.
what im wondering is if theres other musicians who are a) hard to understand, b) weird enough that the things you misunderstand them saying are deeply plausible, and c) have boring enough lyrics that when you correct the misunderstanding it doesn’t make the poem make more sense it just makes it less fun
like it cant just be this weird lil goth boy with the really long unwieldy stage name right?? theres gotta be others. pls tell me if theres others.

the theme in abap that gets me the most is remembering. remember me for centuries, remember when we used to split a drink? it never mattered what it was, do you remember when we drove through the night? when we danced to rancid? when i confessed to you riding shotgun, underneath purple skies?, i can't remember just how to forget the way that we danced. there's a room in a hotel in new york city that shares our fate and deserves our pity, i don't want to remember it all. i'm sorry every song is about you, i'm sorry i can't stop remembering you and i can't stop writing about you. Remembering is all i can do because i don't have you, we weren't immortal, we got what we wanted and it wasn't enough. i'm sorry i can't remember how to forget you.

i know some people say that he relies on fans too much but i don't think you'll say that if you see the genuine emotion on his face while talking about fans and the support he's received over the years and how much we've done for him. the sheer overwhelm and gratitude on his face as he spoke about how if it weren't for the fans and how much we boost him up, he wouldn't have moved from the sound of walls to the sound of faith in the future, which to be fair are miles apart and takes some artists years to move between genres. he's well aware of how the industry has betrayed him but he's truly reached a point where he does what he does for the people who love him and no one else and i'm so proud of him for that. i know in this industry radio play and awards and public promo matters, but to see him talk about us has made me realise that to him success means that his music was loved by his fans and everything else is just a bonus. he was sat there, a full few weeks after his album going number one, and he still couldn't believe it. he looked like he didn't know how else to say thank you, and like words were falling short for the amount of gratitude he wanted to express. being in the crowd last night made me realise just how much he values the artist-fan relationship he's built with us and he wants to keep working towards keeping this connection strong and tight knit and creating this community together 🫂🤍

sometimes you’re fourteen years old and you hear a song on the radio that changes the course of your life. sometimes you’re fourteen years old and you’re walking home from the bus stop listening to the lines “you are what you love not who loves you” and that becomes so deeply ingrained into your soul that you want them premanently on your body. sometimes you’re fourteen years old and you hear the song that will become your favorite for the first time and it’s like something shifts inside you. sometimes you’re fourteen years old but now you’re twenty five and you’ve loved this band for ten years almost half of your life and you know without them you probably wouldn’t have made it this far but you did and in just ten days you’re going to be seeing them live for the first time with your best friend and you’re going to get to hear the song that changed your life the song that’s been ingrained into your soul and the song that’s been your favorite ever since you were fourteen. they really meant it when they said seasons change but people don’t

1, 2, 10 for Haruka and 3, 4, 12 for Muu, if you don't mind ♡
Ahh thank you so much!! Love them ;----;
1. favorite song lyrics?
I’m between two:
You praised me by saying “You’re crazy.”/Thank you, I’ll do my best
First of all it’s just such a telling line that drives home how the (negative) attention he was receiving only encouraged him to do more harm, and really puts his situation into perspective. It’s also a common painful neurodivergent experience to not realize you’re being bullied/criticized, and really makes my heart ache for him…
But I’m always incredibly insane about the entire “mama, look” section. There’s something so heartbreaking about him crying out to her in pride and desperately imagining her kind response. Plus I love wordplay!!! The Muu pun is very cool. Not to mention Shun Horie ripping my heart out and stomping on it when he performed live…
2. favorite mv moment/frame?
This expression combined with the “ah” makes for such a perfect and painful emotion – even though he’s shown bloody and dangerous, the moment manages to paint him more distressed than anything :( It really got me when I first watched it, and still can get me emotional now.
10. is the answer to the previous question different from your vote(s) on the character themselves (do you vote them based on anything else aside from the crime)?
I do forgive his crime, and I would have voted accordingly :’) I joined right before INMF so I missed both his voting periods so far, but I both forgive him and want him to be safe ;-----; Yamanaka please… I beg you…
3. favorite non-mv official illustration?
I really like her door art!! She looks so pretty and confident and just a lil sneaky but that’s what she deserves! I also just love whenever they draw her with chubby lil cheeks in the minigrams… WAIT I forgot the karaoke art -- I love her in that one too!!
4. favorite minigram episode/moment?
Speaking of, I love this one where she refuses to go on the walk but then immediately gets jealous – it’s such a mood and I love her little “muu” pouting adsfsdf. Another big mood is her imagining herself as a sad wet little dog when facing someone intimidating LMAO I think of this panel all the time 😂 (eng versions from thinkin-bout-milgram)
12. what do you wish would be discussed more often about them in the fandom?
That she is just as needy/easy to be manipulated as Haruka! :( It’s hard enough to get people to realize she’s not really doing any malicious manipulating, so it never gets around to any discussion about how she’s equally starved for attention and love. Even though it seems like she’s had friends and he hasn’t, they’ve had the same trouble with connecting to others. They both have no clue what a healthy friendship looks like, and they’re doing their best! Like Kotoko, I think people fall for the front she puts up that hides how much she really doesn’t have her shit together inside :( Someone give her a hug!

Oh my god Heart is confirmed too?
the hype is real
ok i'm making a music post
So Graspop is a metal festival on paper, which is not usually my go to, but there's also a bunch of rock and some other genres. First confirmed name was tool, which i have been a sucker for since I was 17 when they completely blew me away with their live performance
my watch list so far includes:
Alice cooper
Avenged Sevenfold
Babymetal
Body Count (Ice-T's metal band! it fucking slaps) (heres another one) (gotta include this one too sorry)
Bruce Dickinson
Deep Purple
Electric Callboy (if you don't know them please watch these videos. They're hilarious and their upbeat power/europop x metal mixture shouldn't be this catchy, fun and genuinely good, but it is)
Heart
Iron Allies
Judas Priest
Limp Bizkit
Megadeth
Pendulum
Scorpions
Tool
and more!
it's been so long since i've been to an absolutely stacked festival. Can't wait
