sometimes. on rare occasions. i'll be reading something and someone mentions that a character is like. going to the store, or gathering with some people, or otherwise going outside and i'll have a moment where i'm like "wait did they remember to wear a mask?? are they being safe??" and then i remember this thing im reading wasn't even WRITTEN in this here pandemic era, much less is it set in it.

In addition to Shadow tidying his spines idlely. How about

Washing his hands frequently, habit from living on a space station with an immunocompromised sister. Constantly nervous about aware of the presence of germs and whatnot. Contamination-themed OCD even, if you want to go that route. He can't get sick, maybe, but he could still spread illness, and he wouldn't know whether or not he's even carrying anything BECAUSE of his supposed immunity. Blaming himself any time someone he cares about gets sick. "Supposed to be a cure" but he doesn't understand HOW or what that MEANS if not just warding off illness. How is he supposed to DO that. <- Can't ask a dead man questions. Not sure if he could even trust the answers anymore.

Rigid hygiene schedule. Always showering the same time every night (he strikes me as a night-showerer for some reason), or maybe the moment he gets home every day. Following the same steps in the same order as closely as possible. On account of the autism.

Sensory issues. Hating certain textures and tastes and smells because they feel 'dirty'. Do NOT get him started on velvet or sherpa. Washing sheets and clothes frequently because he swears they FEEL gross.

i think he's pretty neat! and i'm really happy they expanded Zarbons race just a little bit with Yuzun. though you hate to hear how he went out... there's no peace for my mans race. i hate this solar system. fuuuck.
