did i mention here the SHOCK REALISATION that sylki fic is often about Loki emotionally supporting Sylvie and lokius fic is often about Mobius supporting Loki, so if you combine those it seems fandom has an overall heirarchy of How Fucked Up Everyone Is and it goes:
Mobius >> Loki >> Sylvie
There are a few conclusions we could draw from this, mine is that I feel so very sorry for the hypothetical character that fandom would consider fucked up enough to need to be emotionally supported by Sylvie D: THAT POOR BLORBO D: D:

Oh yeah not saying that people shoulf stop writing those fics, I was mostly venting and I guess it comes off as very adamant but yeah it's mostly just that I'm tired of closing every third fic I open just because the way those subjects ate often handled squicks me - which is a me problem.
i don't think it's 100% a "you problem" when there's not really a good way to make informed decisions as a reader about it without attempting to read the fic? i mean, it's a "you problem" in that everyone has their own set of preferences for what content they want, and those preferences shouldn't control what individual fic writers want to make, but in a system like ao3 where you're meant to be able to filter out content you don't want and search for content you DO want.....
idk, i don't think it's possible to tag fic for every conceivable squick and trigger, but i do wish this very specific thing had its own tag, especially since it's something that entire fics are based around. i didn't interpret your ask as trying to get rid of those fics; i just wanted to make it clear to other people reading this blog that i don't think it shouldn't exist..... i just want a way to avoid it

21 on the art ask game
"Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways"
GOD OK SO YEARS AGO I FOUND AN ARTIST ON TUMBLR WHO DREW BLUE IN AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL WAY- and the content of his character was pretty non-standard too (which is a benefit for me)! He was an ADULT! Who LOOKED like an adult! And was very very pretty! And didn't have armor! All the things I wanted my own art of Blue to be!!
AND I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHO IT WAS. THEY HAVE BEEN SCRUBBED FROM MY MEMORY.
I tried to find them recently by going through TONS of Blueberry drawings on tumblr recently and the only blog I thought might be them refused to load at all and also was certainly not the original blog I got inspiration from so I still can't tell you who's art it was
But aside from Nebulous Swap Artist, anyone with really rough styles are super cool, painterly styles are really really nice- Fluo is super good at that and I'm in awe constantly, every art piece is breathtaking and I'm not exaggerating- Karina Drawfee is incredibly skilled and VERY good at drawing, like, everything, I've been watching Nerdforge on youtube and her art is absolutely MAGICAL, Kernel's art- ESPECIALLY coloring and shading- are INCREDIBLE and SO PRETTY, Hiromu Arakawa (the creator and manga artist who made FMA) has my favorite manga artstyle I've seen so far-
I could go on forever, I like Everything All The Time, it's All Neat

" "Shizun has slept for many days and only just woke up," said Luo Binghe. "I was wondering, do you perhaps have an appetite?"
In truth, strictly speaking, Shen Qingqiu had long held himself in a state of inedia. Even if he didn't eat, he would be fine. But he was unable to resist his nature, which craved good food. As soon as he heard there were things to eat, his eyes shone with desire."
Volume 1, Chapter 3, page 137.
"What kind of cultivation world had people using horses and carriages all day? What kind of cultivation world had people who, after achieving inedia, still needed to eat and sleep? What kind of cultivation world had an author who occasionally mixed up even the stages of Foundation Establishment and Nascent Soul?"
Volume 1, Chapter 1, page 13.
Shen Yuan, you... kind of answered your own question! People still eat because they like to eat! Food is good! Later on, both Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan will bring up just how many power-up plants exist, so it seems very reasonable that food offers additional energy, replenishes energy, and has the potential to improve cultivation.
Powering a body without food or sleep seems like it could be a serious drain on your system, a burden (a status effect!) that you generally wouldn't want to take on if you didn't have to, especially for inexperienced and weaker cultivators, although some cultivators may just have a personal preference for inedia. I just personally don't like the idea of a magical system where starving yourself is actually good for you, instead of just a thing you can do that takes effort. I know, I know, it's a trope here. Shen Yuan is talking right here about how inedia is a very, very common element of the genre. It's a whole thing. It's got roots. I just personally prefer "everything has a cost and you need to trade accordingly" and "food is good for you" fantasy systems of power.
I mean, maybe there are some situations where the special properties of this world's food potentially introduce imbalances to your cultivation system, and there are situations where you do actually need an empty stomach to efficiently address a cultivation issue, like when cultivating in the Ling Xi Caves where time passes strangely and which are (I think) rich in ambient spiritual energy. That might be interesting to explore. Maybe there are some spells and techniques that require absurdly fine control. But generally speaking, I am a little squicked by the concept that not eating could be actively good (they're athletes and scholars!), so I tend not to represent this world that way, especially because SVSSS does have Shen Yuan enjoying eating as above and cooking as an act of love.
I have lost my train of thought and I'm kind of hungry now...

Permanent Blacklists for AO3
Would you like to permanently remove fics with your squicks, triggers, and dislikes from all AO3 searches by default so that you never have to think about or encounter them again? Well now you can!
The ability to do this has actually been around for a little while but it relies on some new CSS functionality that wasn't supported on all major browsers until fairly recently (though you may still have to enable it manually on some). I'm not going to explain how this method works or how to code AO3 skins in general, as I've only dabbled in it a little and there are already some very good tutorials out there. If you want all of the details, check out these guides:
Skins and Archive Interface FAQ – The official skins guide created by AO3. Lots of good information but might be overwhelming and confusing for a beginner.
A Non-Extensive Guide on How to Start Creating a Skin for AO3 by ao3skin – Some good, fairly easy to understand, beginner info on CSS and specifically how it applies to AO3 skins.
Permablocking Specific Tags - Site Skin by Eli0t – Everything you need to know to create permablock lists. If your blacklist doesn't seem to be working as expected, check this for troubleshooting tips.
What I can offer though are some handy pre-made blacklists that you can use as-is or as a starting point to create your own so that you don't have to go to the trouble of figuring out how any of this works or hunting down relevant tags. Just copy the code, open AO3, go to My Preferences > Skins > Create Site Skin, paste it in the box, title it, and click Submit!
Note: The following lists are very specific to me and my own personal tastes. Absolutely no judgement if you love any of the things that I choose to blacklist. You do you. I just happen to like my fics fucked up and relatively canonical.
★ No Reader Fic – Hides all self-insert and reader fic.
★ No Alternate Universes – Hides anything tagged with the most common AU tags. There are so many incredibly specific AUs there's no way to list all of them and AU tagging is also extremely inconsistent from fic to fic so this blacklist may only catch 80% of AUs, but that's better than nothing. You could always exclude the entire alternate universe tag, rather than trying to list specific ones, but unfortunately canon divergence and other less extreme AUs would get caught in the crossfire, which is not worth it for me.
★ No Fluff – Hides anything tagged with the most common fluff and romance tags. I specifically left out "fluff and angst" though because sometimes that's used for things that are mostly angst with only a bit of fluff and I do love angst.
★ Bonus: No Dead Dove – This list is not mine (for obvious reasons) but I know some people may find it useful. Hides anything with the main archive warnings and many common problematic, taboo, or controversial tags. Some of these I wouldn't even classify as dead dove, they're literally just kinks, so I'd suggest reviewing the list carefully and removing any that don't apply to you.
Additional Notes:
This system doesn't work exactly the same as AO3's exclusion filters because you can't use top-level wrangled tags to block all subtags. It only blocks exact matches.
Once the blacklist is implemented you'll see no indication that anything was blocked (except for fewer fics listed on each search page); the entire blurb will be hidden. The tags and fic counts listed in the filter bar will remain unchanged. If you want more advanced features like whitelisting or adding something to indicate when a fic was removed, check out the permablocking guide by Eli0t.
Here's a link with info on which browsers currently support the new "has()" element, which this blacklist system relies on. As of right now Firefox for desktop still has to be manually enabled (for instructions see the section on flag enabling in the permablocking guide). Firefox for iOS isn't listed on this website but it seems to work fine for me.
There are other browser-specific extensions that let you permablock tags, such as this one and this one, that may be more a little more user friendly, but I've never tried them so I can't vouch for them and they may not work consistently between different devices. The good thing about doing blacklists via skins is that, after setting it up once, it should work automatically on pretty much any device (as long as you're logged in to your AO3 account).

A lot of folks don't realise that they're fanpolice, or at least have the potential to be fanpolice (or engage in feelings yakuza style behaviours), and a good way to check if you're fanpol - at least when it comes to fanfiction - is a common sentiment that even I've fallen into the trap of expressing, and it goes like this:
'I just need the author to know they're writing something that's wrong.'
It could be that you read something triggery or squicky, or that the author is writing something so dark, you're genuinely unsure they understand that something is morally objectionable irl.
On AO3 this is very easy to check: Did they use appropriate warnings? And tags? Does the content of this fic reasonably fall under these tags and warnings?
If the answer is yes, then the author knows.
They might not share the same understanding as you, but they certainly know enough to warn folks in advance. It might even be tags that you've always been comfortable with but for some reason, in this one fic, get squicked by, and immediately assume 'oh god it's the author' and not 'oh god, it's the writing, I've been squicked.'
If you're still unable to distinguish whether the author knows the difference between right and wrong after seeing an author appropriately tag a work with something like 'dead dove: do not eat' - you may not be able to tell the difference, or alternatively, are having a kneejerk reaction to something very squicky personally.
(In the case of fics that have been inappropriately Warned for - i.e. 'No Warnings Apply' in the case of Rape or Major Character Death, you can certainly give AO3 support a heads up about these fics. There's a reason those warnings are mandatory in the absence of 'Creator Chose Not To Use')
Some folks are just going to be 'antis' about everything, but some of us can stumble into fanpol behaviours when we're shocked by content we didn't expect to find shocking, and we immediately look for somewhere to blame our unexpected shock and discomfort. If the first place you go is into the author's comments or inbox with that blame (or an attempt to shame, ridicule, or mock) that's fancop behaviour.
I think it's worth noting that there's a grey area where many folks have engaged with fanpolice / fanpol / fancop / anti style behaviour while still generally being very supportive of philosophies like 'don't like / don't read' etc. and not realising that these philosophies still apply to you even if you have an extremely strong emotional reaction to something you didn't expect to.
Many of us are going to also experience this, or have in the past. If we like surfing certain tags, if we've read enough DD:DNR fics 'safely' it might not occur to us that other authors might have different ways of writing under those tags.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Certainly because I've done it myself, years ago now, and I've seen other folks who would consider themselves very supportive of all fanfiction do it, and you can sort of tell by the language they use. As soon as you see a: 'I wish I just knew that the author understood this was wrong irl :/ ' - and the fic is tagged for - there's something going on that's leading to fancop style thinking. Often it's to try and correct a sense of emotional injustice or betrayal, sometimes it's grounded in moral panic.
Folks who cling to fancop style behaviours believe that feeling their own strong emotion (particularly those of revulsion or disgust or fear) is an accurate compass re: identifying moral injustice, and then proceed to apply 'corrections' to those around them who have caused that revulsion, disgust, or fear. But imho, it's easy for everyone to feel a strong enough emotion that they might slip into fancop thinking or behaviours without realising, for say one particular fic, or one particular ship, without ever realising, because they're 'permissive the rest of the time.'
Anyway, just some barely coherent thoughts on the matter that I'm barely even resolving here. I miss using Tumblr to think about this stuff out loud, so here we are, lol.

minor medical talk below (surgical scars, needles, routine procedures) as well as non-sexual talk about genitals.
As much as I joke about Swiss having novelty packers, he really does experience gender euphoria from packing properly. It doesn't have to be a silicone packer, sometimes a sock will do. That being said, he really feels incredible when he's wearing his 3-in-1. Knowing he can just whip it out for any purpose makes him feel like a real multi ghoul
Cirrus bringing Dew to her endo appointment for estrogen. She desperately didn't want to go alone, she was scared of needles and doctors generally squicked her out. Dewdrop held her hand as they took blood, measured her blood pressure, etc.
She was over the moon when they approved her. Her and Dew have a daily ritual where she takes her E while Dew waits for his T gel to dry. They have to be careful not to hug afterwards though or else Cirrus' E is just cancelled out, BIDMAS innit.
Mountain with healing forearm scars from phalloplasty. Rain knitted him sleeves to cover the dressings because Mountain was feeling self-conscious when walking around the abbey. Aurora dutifully helped take care of the greenhouse while Mounty was out of action, making sure even to sing to the plants like he did. He may or may not have walked into the common room, dick fully out, once the dressings came off. He knew the pack would be so happy for him and clothes were only a formality so they didn't get told off by Papa.

New here, new to your blog, very nervous, please be gentle. Real-boy said he would have invested in railways instead of a toy company. I don't know if this is just my personal squick, I don't know if he would-have had the power to force members of the estate to work on railways as part of his 'investment' but either way. I have a (great, great) grandparent who worked as a railroad Navvy, he immigrated to escape Britain's working conditions... that's literally why I'm here. Say what one will about Our!Ciel, but Funtom is providing safer jobs to people... Read a bit about Railroad Navvies during that time period, I'm betting it'll shock you. Contrary to whatever anyone says, they were NOT, "well paid" they were NOT compensated well or even given beds. They died at a high rates, and families weren't compensated for deaths. Sometimes, they weren't even paid with real money... So that definitely set off a 🚩.
I'm so glad your ancestor survived... After taking a closer look.
Tumblr media
I thought, initially...that this was just to illustrate differences between the two of the twins... That "Real!Ciel" would have made what he felt were more business-oriented, practical decisions for monetary gain and expansion ... and not more personal choices, like Our!Ciel.
Tumblr media
(( By "communications" I assume he means something literal. Telephone lines, something like that.)) But after taking another look, that is some very interesting thought-food, you provided. It's very easy, for readers to forget about the working class and common people who's lives are being played with while all of this is going on, and I think that's intentional. It was also clearly illustrated, that Real!Ciel is just not that interested, in investing in areas that might also create more opportunities, for the working class, or for providing with goods and services, to women and children. He seemingly doesn't care for the toys, and didn't seem interested in Funtom supplementing income that theoretically, the Estate could be providing by itself.... You spoke specifically about railways. From what I understand, investors in railways normally didn't want train-tracks running through THEIR property and estates, and that often created problems... but. ...Some didn't mind, so long as it meant exclusivity, and bigger shares of profits. Most especially, when land owners had canals, in their possession. Telephone lines required similar... labor, for their infrastructure (and thus the conditions were also pretty bad for those who had to build them). As for whether or not he could "force" people who lived on his estate into other trades, like that... Absolutely, he could. I think a lot of factors could determine that, but it's not entirely out of the question. It's happened to people, historically. He could certainly make it much harder for people living there, to continue to do so happily. They could move theoretically, they just have to abandon their homes and the only life they've ever known. If they can afford it. Mm. Thinking about a railroad or telephone lines, running right through the estate where that canal was built, kind of breaks my heart a bit... but regardless, I'm glad that didn't happen or hasn't happened, yet. I don't know what fate is going to befall Funtom or the Estate, but I hope the company survives, a while longer. I'm sure if the working classes who live on the Estate had a say in the matter, they'd want Our!Ciel, as their Earl. No contest.

Can you pls talk abt the ants and omega verse? Or abt the angler fish thing. It’s been haunting me.
sure. but as a disclaimer: i spend a lot of energy avoiding omegaverse content because a lot of the tropes squick me or else are the type of content that drives me up the wall, so i haven't read widely, and i'm not inviting discussion of what common tropes fic writers use. this is not a commentary on what anyone is actually writing or not writing, because i don't know and i don't care.
so. in eusocial insects (and also in, like, naked mole rats), you have three main social roles: two types of reproductive roles, and then "workers" who do not reproduce. The reproductive roles are the "queen," which is a female whose job is mainly churning out babies, and then drones, whose role is basically just providing sperm for the babies. The workers give up their chance to reproduce in order to support the colony as a whole, because they're highly genetically related to the queen, so the queen is making sure their alleles are being duplicated and passed on. is this not omegas, alphas, and betas??? like, you have one hyper fecund female, so some portion of her offspring are just normie worker types to take of your giant family your breeding kink made.
on anglerfish: anglerfish have wild sexual dimorphism (that's when sexes have different appearances). females are the ones with the scary face and bioluminescence you think of when you hear "anglerfish." males are much, much smaller. a male's one goal is to find a female and then physically latch onto her with his teeth. in some species, the males will even physically fuse with the female, and one female can be hosting multiple males. males often get called "parasitic" because they become completely reliant on the female for things like food. i think their status as a parasite is arguable though, as they do provide sperm for reproduction.
anyway i like the idea of an alien species with similarly extreme sexual dimorphism. your alien friend is like "oh do you want to meet my husbands?" and then they open their purse to reveal three tiny, tiny men. i think it'd be cute. i recognize this is undoubtedly someone's fetish though LMAO

Sometimes antis make me want to scream. "Consuming fiction including xyz normalizes it and makes you think it's okay"
So have you never seen any piece of media where a character is murdered? I'm sure you have, many times in fact, because it's so common in media. So do you think it's okay to murder someone? Has it normalized murder to you to the point where you no longer see it as morally wrong? Did it make you go out and murder someone? I'm guessing not. Because fiction does not necessarily reflect what someone wants in reality. It's that fucking simple.
Anyway, thanks for being here. We need more proship blogs. Thanks to all the harassment, a lot of proshippers are too scared to talk about it, so antis get away with representing their beliefs as the majority opinion. Whereas like... if you talk to people offline, the majority of people understand that fiction =/= reality and think that things like sending death threats and doxxing people is like.. a really fucked up thing to do.
No problem!
Honestly, I think a lot of the misinformation that spreads about proship/antiship is because of ship is in both names. Its not trivial fandom discourse, its just a new word for a debate about censorship thats been happening for literal ceuntires now. (Not saying people are obligated to care though)
The thing is, I think antis are fine with IRL murder, so long as they can think of a moral justification for this. One thing that really squicks me about this site is that so many people will call for the death/harm of people they know nothing about. Want to talk about normalization, antis? You've normalized fucking that.

“He lets Fizz yell and show when he’s annoyed without feeling like he has to cushion his words, he doesn’t have to say “pweeease?” And pretend to be all submissive and cute to get what he wants.”
Isn’t the point that Fizz likes to be vulnerable for once, to be submissive, because he’s so used to being “on” for the cameras as a jackass? Even Alex Brightman said this is what makes Fizz Fizz. And even if it squicks you out, some people genuinely do enjoy and are empowered by DDLG dynamics. For someone like Blitz this would be a dealbreaker, but for Fizz it’s a good thing to allow himself to be taken care of for once, having spent most of his life being the breadwinner for the circus, then Mammon.
“People pleasers need someone who isn’t biassed by a need to benefit off of them, to give it to them straight. Ozzie doesn’t offer him that because fizz only thinks Ozzie is with him because of who he is at his best, meaning he’s been putting up a front with Asmodeus, and he feels like it’s thanks to Mammon that he got to be with him. He says he barely feels worthy.”
This is totally true, but wasn’t this conflict resolved in the latest episode?
You say Fizz needs understanding, but when did Blitzø ever understand him? Like other than being childhood friends (and let’s be real, most childhood friends are formed based on proximity, not common ground), what do they have in common other than growing up together and being imps? Fizz is a performer who dislikes blood and violence. Blitz is a horse-loving assassin. Fizz is a people-pleaser, Blitz is an individualist. And even Fizzarolli said himself in Oops that Ozzie is “the only person to understand him.”
(Please note I’m not trying to be a hater, just want to understand how a hypothetical adult! BlitzFizz would work).
He’s always submissive, on the stage with Ozzie he was extremely submissive, asking patrons to show the big man love, saying he was designed by the big man himself, deferring to Ozzie when to sing certain lines, looking to him for approval before the number began. So distracted by him, that he doesn’t see Millie with the guitar about to smack him, or Creepzo with a knife about to stab him. And Ozzie doesn’t react fast enough to stop either of these things. His friend helped in crucial moments and Ozzie recognises how valuable he is to Fizz.
That’s all why I love this moment actually -
Tumblr media
Ship stuff below
It’s nice to see Fizz protect somebody for a change, adapt to his surroundings and stop performing disingenuously, then follow up with some teamwork. Using their very different but compatible skills for saving of themselves and each other while the two Goetia are in an office doing nothing of value but arguing over stupid papers. And when the Goetia do save them, it’s always an over the top grand gesture of royal power that pretty much steals their thunder. I liked Ozzies moment against mammon more though because Mammon is an aggressor looking down on someone below him, and Oz waits in the wings, but supports his empowerment when he’s unfairly threatened. He says pick on someone your own size. Which is nice . And what’s more is Oz has his own resentment against mammon, long before Fizz. That’ll be really interesting to explore. Personally I hope it isn’t romantic because that would just be…boring sometimes two men don’t like each other romantically but have other conflict.
Isn’t saying how you feel, without holding back, what vulnerability is? And isn’t the submissive front he puts up with mammon portrayed as bad in the first scene he interacts with him? Not a good part?
Did you really just call it DDLG ? That’s. That really infantilises a disabled character. He’s cute but he’s still an adult. But maybe you’re right and that’s the angle idk.
‘That’s what makes fizz fizz’ I don’t even know the quote. And. Yeah the point being in that episode, he’s weakened by that, and needs to be protected, he was defenceless, useless in combat, as the critic said in the new episode he’s always having someone stand in for him too, both blitz and fizz look guilty when he says it, it’s a character flaw that he needs someone to look to for approval. That he can’t be on his own. Cant be his own boss. He still needs to work on it.
“For someone like blitz this would be a dealbreaker” i mean. This guy has the biggest daddy kink in the show. He loves taking care of and protecting people, being in charge, he doesn’t like being coddled and called a pet. Fizz and Blitz are very compatible sexually.
Wasn’t the conflict resolved? After one single song and dance number? I Doubt. That kind of psychological scar doesn’t just disappear because if a romantic relationship, it helps but it doesn’t reverse it all.
Also when I’m talking about blitz giving it to him straight, i was talking in his defence against the idea that he has NOTHING of value to offer.
You think they are only friends cause they grew up in the same place? Well that’s like me saying I think fizz and Ozzie are only together because they work in the same place and fizz had nobody else, needing to run to someone away from his abuse with enough power for his sure safety.
‘When does he understand him just cause they’re both imps’ are you…what? Huh? The fact they grew up together is a massive deal. The fact they always have to impress and serve royals, their whole lives.
- When he knew it was no surprise that fizz insists on entering the pageant, the way he noticed fizz’s panic and chose to attack the stalker in a non lethal way, when he caught him, held him tighter when fizz showed fear that mammon was about to appear, when he said “oh that guy got to you didn’t he?” And he was right. When he saw Fizz run away tearfully and instead of him following fizz into the dressing room, coincidentally, Ozzie appeared right at that moment? More like he knew to summon him.
“He’s the only one who understands me” No, he says he now has someone who understands him. Because Blitzø was gone. Now he has two! No down side.
This part was deleted by my phone, pasting it here
Tumblr media
Me: “i like them because of how different they are”
You: “i don’t like them cause of how they’re different”
I think we are at an impasse.
If you are this dead set on DDLG and Ozzie being his whole world, and don’t even think blitz and fizz were ever even at least genuine friends, (wow that’s a new low for the diehard shippers) why are you here arguing with me about it?

Search, Tags, and Tumblr
Tumblr's search functions are notoriously weird, but there's a few common things to know about how it works in conjunction with Tagging. First things first:
-Tags are for searching but also personal blog organization as desired. This is why some folks have weird/funny personal use tags. Tags can use dashes and spaces, but not regular double quote marks ("), though single marks are fine (').
-Tag for what's in the post; adding other, unrelated tags "for visibility" is against Tumblr's TOS and gets you reported for Spam!
Example: if you make a post for your new Clive Rosfield screenshots, make sure you're only tagging terms relevant to Final Fantasy XVI and Clive Rosfield (and any personal organizing tags like "screenshots"); don't add tags like "Star Wars" and "SpongeBob", as Clive has nothing to do with those!
-Tag without censoring words! We use filters/blacklists here to avoid things we don't want to see. Can also work for words in the body of a post. There's no rules here against using "kill" or "death" or other terms defining common human experiences determined "too negative/dangerous" on other sites (stay civil to each other).
-If you do alt-spell things, it's only in the body of a post and usually when it's dislike of a fandom thing as a courtesy to those enjoyers. If I make a shipping post and say, for example, "I can't stand R3y|o", that's when I want to use weird spelling and symbols--and no common tags for that fandom! If you do use tags for organizing, keep it to things like "#anti (thing) or "#(thing) critical", again spelled correctly for others' blacklisting purposes and to keep it out of the Reylo Search and Tags so those fans can enjoy their ship without seeing negativity. Because...
-General Search pulls from Tags and Also terms found in the body of a post. If I just put "Thancred" in the Search bar at the top of the page, it'll show me any and all posts with "Thancred" in them, including 1) if the name is in the body of the post, 2) if the name is in a tag that's a sentence/includes other words, and 3) even if not tagged for Thancred.
This caused some wank a couple years back for certain fans when someone tagged a lascivious picture set with what they knew was a triggery NOTP for many...but they also put the characters' names in the post body, not realizing simply searching for either of those characters would pull it up (They also, IMO, should have put the images under a Read More to be doubly safe, for themselves and for others they knew might be upset stumbling onto said images, but the crux was not realizing how Tumblr Search worked).
-Tag Search specifically pulls from the tags; per Tumblr's info pages, the first 20 tags (out of 30 total allowed) now will show up in search. Common, consistent tags first are good for visibility. You can also Follow tags you want to keep track of; there's even a tab on your Dash for it.
-Reblogs do not show up in the searches, even with additions and new notes. However, a blacklist filter will catch tags put on the original post, even if the reblogger doesn't add it when it ends up on your Dash.
-You can also blacklist blog names/URLs. Think of it like Twitter's muting rather than a full block (though one can do that too, and should as needed).
Example: someone following Seanan McGuire doesn't like frogs, but she reblogs a lot of frogs. The follower blocked and blacklisted the blogs she often reblogs frogs from to minimize the number of frogs they see while still following a favorite author for her book info.
-If people ask you to tag a thing cuz it's a squick or full-on trigger, you can just do it, or you can politely say no; that's valid. It's up to that person then to decide if they want to blacklist or unfollow or block or what. Just be civil either and both ways.
In summary: if you're talking about bunnies cuz you took pictures at the local farm show, just write "bunnies" normally in the body and/or tags of the post, so anyone with "bunnies" blacklisted can avoid it--and folks who want to see cute pics of bunnies can find it!
Even if you use proper tags, or no tags, or only use alternate spellings in the post body to keep things out of the tags/searches, consider still using a Read More as a last line of courtesy to any followers or random folks you don't want to catch in the crossfire. Also consider hiding your blog from Search results, and/or Private posts.
Tumblr's Help Center (On Desktop browser, go to the "About" link, and then the "Resources" menu; on Mobile App, go to Account settings, General settings, scroll down to "Help" under "Account") has further info about Searches and Tagging (and everything else!), and as that info changes, it's a good idea to keep track of those page updates, as well as the @changes blog to keep track of new updates, bugs, recent fixes, and upcoming info.
